Error had been alone in his multiverse (ThreadVerse) for a long time but that soon changed when FATE came to visit, bringing many changes.
——-
ThreadVerse
Error had no idea how he came to be. He had always existed as long as his multiverse did and even before the Creator, known as Ink. He didn't mind being alone as the Threads were always there for him. They fascinated him with all the colours they came in and he smiled at how many were linked to him.
He instinctively knew that meant he would meet many new beings and he was looking forward to seeing something more than the white. He had no issue with the AntiVoid but his excitement to see even more was constant. Time passed and he twitched as he felt more Threads formed into existence.
He opened windows with his magic to look at these new beings and laughed in joy at how many there were. He watched as the Creator made even more AU's and was content to watch, occasionally shifting Threads that seemed tangled or dull in colour. His SOUL purred when he fixed these issues and he somehow knew this was a part of his role, to fix all the small issues the Creator accidently made.
He was impressed how competent Ink became and he thought it was the right time to introduce himself. He watched as the AU's interacted with each other, the calm atmosphere and he wanted to be a part of this.
"𝕆𝕙, 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕚 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕜 𝕚𝕥 𝕚𝕤? 𝔸 𝕘𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕔𝕙 𝕚𝕟 𝕞𝕪 𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕝𝕕'𝕤 𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕗𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕞𝕦𝕝𝕥𝕚𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕖? 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕛𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕨𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕕𝕠 𝕒𝕥 𝕒𝕝𝕝."
Error froze at the voice and shivered as he saw the Threads start to corrode and twist unnaturally in the beings presence. He needed to fix this! He desperately tried to smooth things out and was relieved at how he managed to stabilise things. It would take many more hours to get it like it was before but it was a start.
"...𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕒 𝕕𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕖𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕤 𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕥𝕝𝕖 𝕘𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕔𝕙 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕣𝕖. 𝕀 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕖𝕣𝕒𝕤𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕓𝕦𝕥 𝕨𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕨𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕗𝕦𝕟 𝕓𝕖 𝕚𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥. 𝕀 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨! 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕓𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕗𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕘𝕚𝕗𝕥 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕞𝕪 𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕝𝕕! 𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕪 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕓𝕖𝕖𝕟 𝕘𝕣𝕠𝕨𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕣𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕓𝕠𝕣𝕖𝕕 𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕝𝕪"
Error did not like the sound of that and shifted to defend himself, when a sickly golden Thread wound around him. He had little time to fight before it connected to his SOUL, clinging to him like a leech. It burned and he screamed in agony at having something forced upon him. The pain felt like it lasted for years and when it faded he was on his knees, trying to catch his breath.
"𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕒 𝕘𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕕𝕠𝕘~. 𝕀 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕘𝕠 𝕓𝕦𝕥 𝕕𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕣𝕪. 𝕀 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕤𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕒𝕟𝕪. 𝕀 𝕨𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕓𝕖 𝕤𝕠 𝕤𝕒𝕕 𝕥𝕠 𝕤𝕖𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕒𝕝𝕠𝕟𝕖"
Error could only whimper, feeling something was seriously wrong with his SOUL. Just what had this being done to him? He tried to touch the new gold one and hissed as the jolt he received.
Wow. This is new...what are we supposed to do now?
TO KEEP THE NEW TOY IN LINE, OF COURSE
This is going to be so boring!
It's what she wants, so no whining!
Why isn't it moving? Is it already broken?
IT'S JUST LAZY. GET UP AND GO TO WORK!
Does it even have a name?
WHO CARES, NOT LIKES IT KNOWS ANYONE
...What new hell was he in? Job? What are they on about? He was about to voice his displeasure when a burning sensation enveloped his SOUL.
That was super quick! Ink sure does like to create
He could do to calm down in my opinion
Shut up! Do you want her to hear you?!
THE IDIOT HAS A POINT, FOR ONCE
Are you trying to start a fight?!
Things sure did get exciting fast. This is great~ ♡
Of course. The first beings he met in person were crazy. He sighed and stood up, grimacing at the burning pain persisting. Opening the Code he realised that Ink was creating more AU's then the multiverse could sustain, so he would need to trim them down. This was rather odd as the Creator was usually good at knowing the limit, so what could have changed?
It didn't take long to destroy the cluttering AU's but it was when he came face to face with the Creator that issues occured. He had seen them through his windows many times, so was confused why his anger grew at seeing them. He had little time to think before attacks were thrown at him and he was forced to defend himself.
"How dare you do this! Who are you?!"
Error was growing more alarmed as time went on and could tell his magic was being cut off before it could truly hurt the other. He thankfully escaped but sustained numerous injuries. He never thought their first meeting would go like that.
Good job. That was quick~
NOT FAST ENOUGH. I BET THEY TOOK THEIR TIME
That was easier then I expected. Maybe this job isn't too bad
I'm bored. Entertain us!
He had almost forgotten about these voices. He sat down on his beanbag with a wince and looked over his wounds and began to treat them. Looking at the golden Thread more intently he could feel it manipulating his Code, denying him certain actions and acting as a lead to where he needed to go. He wanted to cry at the unfairness but soon felt the burning sensation again and got up to do his new 'job'.

Years passed and Error grew numb to the never changing routine. He would leave the AntiVoid only to destroy then come back to hide. He had met many new beings as he had wished early on but the reactions were far different than expected.
Meeting the Positivity Guardian was odd and the way the Thread, connecting them to their other half was glitching, was fascinating. When he asked how their brother was he was bewildered by the fear he faced and the rumours spreading around the multiverse.
He had no idea his power was so rare and was puzzled at the alarm this caused to the inhabitants. He would have looked into it more but he was just too tired to care, so continued on as usual.
The Creator soon found Dream and a Swap Sans called Blue, as fighters against him and he was dismayed he was limited in defending himself against these two as well.
He was sure he would normally be horrified at what had become of Dreamtale but he was expressionless, as he realised that the Negativity Guardian had eaten the apples and fled the dying AU. He made sure to keep the insane monster quarantined and was thankful they soon gained their senses back, so the Balance could be restored.
When he saw the sanity in their eyelights he briefed them on the multiverse and their role and threw them into an AU, that was safe for them to recover in. He thought that would be the end of it so was surprised when they sought him out. No matter what he did to dissuade them, nothing worked and he soon gave up, letting them do what they wanted.
He had no idea how they became friends but he reluctantly admitted to enjoying their company. He helped them to conceal their corruption, so they could walk free in other AU's, something that was becoming harder to do for himself. His power had brought great fear and he stopped verbally acknowledging all the Threads he could see, hoping to calm the masses.
It was disheartening seeing his gift be treated as a curse but he knew he could do nothing. The being, he had learned was called FATE, had too much control for him to be able to make any difference. Maybe if he was free it would be different but he had little hope of that ever occurring.
Decades passed and he was surprised at meeting others he would learn to call friends. He always looked at the Threads connecting them as a gift and he knew it was one of the few things keeping him going some days. The voices never stopped and he never felt comfortable staying in AU's for long, as the Creator inevitably found him and accused him of some heinous crime.
Even his name was not his own, as soon others associated him with his power over Threads and even changed the name of the bonds he saw as beautiful to 'Strings', as if he had personally tainted the name with his power.
It was a title filled with fear and mocking, just another thing to strip him of his identity. He felt his multiverse shift with his new title and shivered at how much FATE had changed in the multiverse, fearing what else they might do.
-
Error dodged another ink attack and summoned a row of bones to intercept the next one. He had learnt defending himself was 'graciously' allowed by FATE and it did mean he returned with far less injuries.
"You can do it, Dream! Use your arrows"
He groaned in annoyance but shivered as he felt the boundaries of the multiverse be breached. It was odd, as FATE would usually crush any intruders, so they would not interfere with 'her darling son' so he rightfully feared what she had in store for him. Giving one last glance at Star Sans he opened a portal to the AntiVoid and came face to face with his worst nightmares.
"Why hello, Thread . Lovely place you have here. So sorry for crashing in"
God, it was these three. He might not be able to leave this prison but he was still able to see out of it. They caused nothing but issues and he twitched at the inevitable mess he would have to sort out. He wanted to dust them as soon as they said that dreaded name but resisted, knowing he would be punished for going against FATE.
"Can we dust him, Negative? Surely we don't need him?"
"We are not babysitters, Scar! They are far too useful to kill"
" What do you want? "
Hopefully it would be simple and he could get rid of them quickly, he enjoyed what little time he could and would rather not waste it arguing. The tightening of the Thr- String around his neck also showed that FATE was amused by this whole thing.
"A tad rude. We heard you have a certain skill set that could be useful for us"
"I can't—"
"We know you have some restrictions but we truly don't care. Look after the kid and we will leave"
Error shivered at the threat lingering in their gaze. He had already agreed when he froze at realising just what they were asking. His glitches multiplied at seeing a babybones in Negatives arms and he wanted to cry. No wonder FATE was amused, this would add so much more stress and he had no clue how to keep them alive!
"So glad you agree! This is your problem now. Please try not to kill it. I know how good you are at that"
He stared in growing horror at the winged babyones in his arms, barely listening to the conversation occuring. He only noticed they left due to the Code alerting him but his gaze stayed fixed on the child. He knew the surprise and the contact, which he could already feel burning him, would lead him to Crashing, so he straightened his arms and made sure to hold them tightly, hoping he didn't hurt them by accident.
Crash occurring please wait. System Reboot Commencing...22%...45%...78%..100%
Reboot Complete
His arms slackened and he winced, looking at the child in alarm.
" W-What h-happed?..Creator?...WHO ARE YOU?! "
Error stilled at seeing the child in front of him and shuddered at seeing their Strings. He hated when he Crashed, as it really affected his memory and made his power act out. He usually kept his ability to see Strings off, as it was rather nauseating seeing what FATE had done to the majority of them.
Just being near Ink used to be horrifying and he felt extreme pity for the Creator and their so-called 'free will'. At least he knew he was a puppet, the majority of this multiverse was fooled into thinking they had a choice in their lives.
Now he was used to seeing many types of Strings on beings but these ones were just mystifying. The babybones had many greying ones and some looked to have been ripped apart or fraying. He didn't even know Strings could look like that! It was getting hard to look at them without wanting to sort the mess but FATES golden String tightened yet again in warning. Now he was all alone and had this to deal with.
" So they left...now what to do with you? "
Taking a step closer Error paused as he observed their flinch but continued on, making sure to put on some gloves he kept in his inventory at all times. He hated being covered so much but he was given the wonderful gift of feeling a burning sensation when he touched others, so it was a necessity. It was just another way to restrict him, as dealing with Strings was usually easier when he touched someone.
Lifting them up he placed them on his beanbag feeling his mouth twitch in amusement at how it dwarfed them. They were so small and he feared he would break them if he merely breathed on them.
He silently growled at feeling Ink over create again and hoped he would be quick. He didn't wish to leave the child alone, especially in the AntiVoid but he had little choice. FATE seemed to want him to deal with them and he knew it was futile to resist.
" Stay here. I have work to do "
He soon left by a portal and got to work, pulling out strings from under his sockets to destroy the Code. It was sad that the only time he was permitted to use his power over Strings was when he dusted monsters. It was his own mercy, as he knew otherwise the pain of the loss for the connecting bond could be devastating.
Coming back to the AntiVoid he was relieved at seeing the babybones still here and when he got closer, was glad they were resting. Crouching down he got a better look at them and opened the Codes to have a better look. He frowned at the mess of their Code and felt his fingers clench at realising the state of their SOUL. He was honestly impressed they were still alive at this point and wished he could hunt down the idiots who were the cause.
Getting up he grabbed another bean bag and sat down, watching them silently.
I like this one. They are tiny and fluffy!
They are very small..is that normal?
WHO CARES! SHE WANTS THEM HERE, SO THAT IS ENOUGH
So dull. No wonder she allowed the babybones to stay. She is probably tired of your voice
WHAT DID YOU SAY?!
Are you deaf as well as dumb? I'm impressed you hid this for so long. Maybe you do have some talent
At least the voices were acting civil for once. Hopefully the kid didn't wake up soon, he still needed to sort out how to take care of them.
