Kagome P.O.V - Headmaster's Office
When we got to the school, we went to see Headmaster Crowley in his office, and when we got to his office, we heard shouting and scream behind the door
"Uh... Should we go in...?" Ace asked and I slowly opened the door to see Crewel-sensei chasing Headmaster Crowley while holding a chair
"How could you let a young girl go with those two?! What if something happens to her?! If she comes back with any scratches on her, you're a dead man!" Crewel-sensei said
'Oh boy... Then he won't be happy about my wound' I thought to myself
"Divus! Don't hurt the man who signs our paychecks!" Coach Vargas said as he held Crewel-sensei back, while Trein-sensei was sighing and next to him was another person
'Is he a teacher?'
"Excuse me..." I decided to say something and all the teachers looked at me
"See! She's alright!" Headmaster Crowley said, and Crewel-sensei headed towards me
"Oh, thank the Great Seven that you're alright!" Crewel-sensei said
"Well, more or less" I said than he noticed the wound on my side stomach and glared at Headmaster Crowley
"Crowley... I hope you plan on taking responsibility for this!!" Crewel-sensei shouted
"P-Please don't hurt Headmaster Crowley! It was my decision to follow both Ace and Deuce, but we did managed to get the magic crystal" I said as I showed them the magic crystal
"Eh?! You really went to the Dwarf's Mine to find the magic crystal!?" Headmaster Crowley said looking surprised
"Eeeh!?" Ace, Deuce and Grim looked shocked including the teachers
"I didn't think... My word, I never thought you'd go... You'd not only go, but then come back with a crystal in hand. I've already completed the paperwork for you expulsion in solemn silence" Headmaster Crowley admitted
"Sigh... Crowley" Trein-sensei shook his head in disappointment
"Why you...!" Crewel-sensei looked ready to strangle him
"Guess my friends from the other side were right about that" The man said
"Excuse me, but who are you?" I asked
"How rude of me for not introducing myself, the name's Sam and I work at the student's store here on campus. I look forward seeing you at my store" Sam said
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sam" I said
"Nnga!! The nerve of this guy! While we were fighting some crazy beast!" Grim said and that caught the teacher's attention
"Beast? Care to explain?" Trein-sensei asked, and we each explained on what happened at the Dwarf's Mine, and Crewel-sensei was treating my wound
"I see. A mysterious monster living in the coal mine. The four of you worked together to defeat it and bring back the magic crystal" Headmaster Crowley said
"We didn't exactly worked together..." Ace said
"It was more like our goals were aligned..." Deuce said
"Ooh... Ooooh.... OOOOOOOOOHHHH!!!" Then Headmaster Crowley started to cry
"What's wrong with this guy? Why is an adult bursting into tears!?" Grim asked
"Technically, grown ups can cry, but his cry is...." I looked at Headmaster Crowley with a bit of a disgusted look
"In all these years that I've been Headmaster... For the day to come that students from Night Raven College to go hand in hand to face and defeat their enemy!" Headmaster Crowley said with tears still in his eyes
"What!? I did not hold this guy's hand!" Deuce shouted
"I would never do that either, gross! Wait, how old are you, Headmaster!?" Ace asked
"Don't even ask" The teachers said
"I am overwhelmed with emotion... This incident confirms it. Kagome, without a doubt you have the talent as a beast tamer!" Headmaster Crowley said looking excited
"A beast what now?" I looked at him with a confused look
"Students of Night Raven College are budding mages chosen by the Dark Mirror. But due to their excellence, many of them turn out to be prideful, egotistical, and self-centered individualists who never give a thought about cooperating with others" Headmaster Crowley said
"I wonder why..." I looked at the headmaster with a deadpan look
"You cannot use magic or more like you do have some. You just need training, with precise instructions I'm sure you'll be fine" Headmaster Crowley
"Why does it sound like an insult?" I asked as I felt an irk mark appear on my forehead and with my paper fan in hand
"I have no doubt that your existence is essential to the future of this academy. So says my intuition as an educator. Along with rescinding Mr. Trappola and Mr. Spade's expulsion, I shall also give Grim the opportunity to become a student along side you, Miss. Higarashi!" Headmaster Crowley said, shocking everyone in the room
"Eeeehh!?"
"Ffgna!? I... I can go to this academy too...? Not as a handyman, but as a student?" Grim asked making sure
"Yes! Provided that! You don't ever let an incident like yesterday occur again! Do we have an agreement?"
"Ffgnaa... Ffnnaa.... Y-Yes I can" Grim said with tears coming out from his eyes and a smile
"Let's do our best, Grim!" I said
"Ffggnnnnnnaaa!! I did it!" Grim cheered
"Well then, I shall give the symbol of your status as a student of Night Raven College, a magic crystal, to Grim" Headmaster Crowley said as he summoned a magic crystal on his ribbon
"Whoa! A magic crystal!?" Grim was admiring it
"It is the norm for students to have their magic crystal in their form of a 'magical pen', but you wouldn't be able to grip it in your paws, right? It's a special custom. Aaah... I pay attention to even the smallest details! Aren't I too gracious?" Headmaster Crowley said, and I sweat dropped
" Aha! Look at you. School's juts started, and now we have a monster cat on campus as a student. Guess that makes you a prefect" Ace said
"I see. There's only two of you in your dorm... So if you've been entrusted with monitoring Grim, that makes you a prefect" Deuce said
"Pufft... isn't that unheard of? For there to be a prefect who's not only an a girl but knows little magic too. Nice. It's cool. A girl supervisor student who knows a bit of magic!" Ace said
"Well, I promise to do my best!" I said
"Ahaha. Good luck, Prefect!" Ace said
"I see, a prefect"
"Is something wrong with that?" I asked
"No, nothing wrong. I do have a work request for you, and having a title makes it very conve... I mean wonderful! Prefect, I entrust you with this" Headmaster Crowley handed me a camera "This is nicknamed the ghost camera"
"Ghost camera?" I inspected the camera and Ace looked at it
"Ah, I think my grandma told me about that, it's a super old magic tool, right?" Ace asked
"It is not super old... Ahem. It's true this may have been invented during your great grandmother's or great-great grandmother's time. There is a very special spell cast on it. It not only captures he subjects' form, but also part of their souls" Headmaster Crowley said and I looked at him with a confused
"A part of their souls...?" Deuce looked at the headmaster with a confused look like me
"You need to explain it better, Crowley" Crewel-sensei said and everyone nodded in agreement
"Memory: A Fragment of Remembrance is another name for it. Furthermore, the most interesting part of this magic camera is that the souls of the photographer ad the photographed become deeply connected and the Memory in the photo comes jumping out" Headmaster Crowley explained
"It comes jumping out? What does that mean?" I asked
"Depending on how close the subject and the photographer are, the picture could move like a video, or bring to life the situation in the photo. Fascinating, right?"
'It does kinda sound fascinating' I thought
"Bring the photo to life? It's like a ghost photograph!" Deuce said
"Yes. Therefore it is called a ghost camera. They say it was made before the time of videos for when people wanted to leave behind vivid memories... Spade was correct; in the past, people would scream 'ghost!' in surprise when the memory came jumping out. They were paralyzed with fear at the thought of having a photo taken with this camera" Headmaster Crowley said
"A camera for freaking people out..." Ace said looking a bit scared
"Higarashi" I looked at the headmaster "Please take photos of Grim and the other students to leave behind many memories of your lives in this academy" Headmaster Crowley said
"La lalalala~ Take lots of cool photos of me~" Grim said happily
"Be sure to leave a Memory especially when someone who gets carried away easily misbehaves" He pointed at Grim "It's most suitable way to report to me, right? Keep an eye on your surroundings and take memories as the prefect. To generously give you a rare item that can be used by someone with little experience with magic. Does my graciousness know no bounds?" Headmaster Crowley asked
"I promise to do my best" I said
"Well, it is already late. Let's save the detailed conversation for tomorrow. Return to your dormitories, everyone"
We were about to leave, but I remembered something important I want to ask
"Actually, I do have one question" I said as I turned to look at the headmaster and the other teachers
"What is it?"
"Well, when the monster attacked me, something came out of me" I said as I pulled out the jewel and all the teachers' eyes widen
"That can't be! How!?" Headmaster Crowley looked at me with disbelief
"To be honest, I have no idea. But that monster acted even crazier the moment it saw this jewel" I said
"The Shikon Jewel. I never thought we'd see it again" Crewel-sensei said
"You guys seen this before?" I asked and they nodded
"The former headmaster Kikyo was entrusted on protecting this very jewel, but one day, an someone stole it and injured her. She did managed to get the jewel back, but her life was cut short after the incident" Trein-sensei said
"The whole island mourned for the loss of the most beloved headmaster in all of Twisted Wonderland" Sam said looking sad
"Miss. Higarashi, may I have the jewel? I wish to make it into a necklace, so that way it'll be with you. I promise you'll have it back in the morning" Crewel-sensei said
"Alright" I handed Crewel-sensei the jewel
"Pardon our intrusion" Deuce said as we started to leave the Headmaster's office
No One P.O.V - Exterior Hallway
"Expulsion rescinded... I'm beat" Deuce said while yawning
"Oh my, oh my..." Ace said looking exhausted
"La lalala~ I start as a student of Night Raven College tomorrow! I'm gonna leave you all in the dust and take the top spot!" Grim declared
"Well, if you want to be in the top, then you better start hitting the books" Kagome said and Grim groaned
"She's right about that" Ace said
"We're classmates starting tomorrow, Grim. I would say the same for Kagome, but we already seen her" Deuce said
"I hope we'll get along!" Kagome said with a smile, and that made both Ace and Deuce blush
"Saying that again is really embarrassing, will you stop?" Ace asked as he looked away with his cheeks red
"Pff, that's true. Even if we don't want to, we're going to see each other everyday. I'm even in Heartslabyul with this jerk" Deuce said as he pointed at Ace
"The thought of having to see Mr. Serious' mug everyday makes me sick. Eugh" Ace said
"That's my line, truant Ace" Deuce said
"Whatever you say, almost-expelled crybaby Deuce. Alright, see you tomorrow, Prefect" Ace said as he and Deuce started leaving, heading back to their dorm
"They might actually make a good combo. Don't you think so, Grim?" Kagome asked
"Well, you're right about that. They're the 'fight because they're so close' type" Grim said and Kagome nodded in agreement
"How about we start heading back to Ramshackle? We do need to wake up early for school tomorrow" Kagome said as she picked up Grim and started walking back to Ramshackle, and Grim is very excited for his first of school tomorrow
