i woke up to the sound of seagulls chirping outside my balcony. i yawned as i got up and stretched.
i walked in my closet to find something to wear. i knew i was gonna go surfing after i ate breakfast so i put on a royal blue triangle bikini with matching bottoms and put on this dress
(sorry i didn't feel like describing it😭)
i put on my brown Birkenstocks that crossed over at the toes. i then grabbed my white surfboard with many stickers on it and grabbed my board wax so i could wax it at the beach. i put the wax, my sunscreen, glasses, a beach towel, my camera, and my flip phone in my backpack
as i walked downstairs i smelt the smell of bacon and eggs. i entered the kitchen to see my grandma putting eggs on a plate with bacon
"here u sweetie" said my grandma as she slid the plate to one of the seats at the white marble island in their kitchen
i sat down at the seat while eating my breakfast and talking to my grandma about what i had planned for today
"yea i'm gonna go surf some waves at the beach for a while to just get used to the waves and the California waters." i said as i took another bite out of my eggs
"oh cool! are u gonna surf in our backyard or further down the beach where the waves are bigger?" asked my grandma as i pointed my head to the direction of the further side of the beach
"the further side. the waves here are barely surfable. i'm tryna catch a barrel!" i said as my grandma laughed and nodded her head
"well luckily it's a private beach so u don't have to worry about other people!" said my grandma as i nodded my head. i finished my breakfast and put my plate in the sink before i grabbed a water bottle out the cabinet and filled it up with ice water.
after that i was good to go and headed out the door. i walked down the street and on my way to the trail that led to the beach i saw another HUGE house that was itallian style with a red roof and beige colored walls. i could see their pool and the steps leading down to it, it also had a water slide
i shrugged it off and walked past it and to the trail. once i got to it i took off my Birkenstocks and put them in my backpack as it was a pretty steep trail full of palm trees, sand, and really pretty flowers
with a smile on my face i ran down the trail, trying my best not to fall and to the beach which literally had no people. it was literally perfect.
i set my stuff down kinda close to the shore and laid out my towel. i put on sunscreen all over my face and shoulders. i looked at the beautiful beach and took out my camera and snapped a picture of it. i then turned the camera around and took a picture of me and my board
i then sat down on my towel and got my my board wax as i set my board down and waxed it. it wasn't too long of a process so in about 5 minutes i was finished
i took off my white dress and grabbed my board before running into the ocean. i hopped on my board and paddled out
after 5 minutes of waiting for a good wave to come and duck diving under the bad ones, i finally spotted a huge wave that felt like it was just calling my name
i paddled long strokes into the water before the wave caught up to me. once it did i quickly stood up on the board and maintained my balance as i got further down the wave
i kept my eyes focused on the wave once i saw it start to barrel on me. i ran my hand through the side of the wave as the water was almost crystal clear. this is what i had been waiting for ever since i found out i was going to spend the summer at my grandparents
the huge salty waves in california felt like that was all i needed.
but before i knew it, the wave came to an end and the water started to get all in my face as the barrel closed. luckily, i maintained my balance and stayed on the wave
i sat back down on my board after the wave had completely died down and laughed as i realized i had officially ridden my first wave of this summer.
i immediately paddled back out and repeated the process a couple more times until i completely wiped out and got caught in a wave. it felt like i was being tossed around in a laundry machine
but ofc i came back up to the surface and got back on my board. i rid a few more waves until i wiped out again but this time even harder, so i decided to call it a day
i swam back to the shore and walked back to my towel. i picked it up and dried myself off before i put my white dress back on. i decided to just keep my sandals in my bag as i walked back up the trail
i finally got back into the main road and walked back to my grandparents house. i walked past the huge mansion i saw on the way there to see a yellow mazda RX-7
my eyes widened as my jaw dropped. i took a couple steps closer and squinted my eyes to see if it was a different care but it wasn't
i knew exactly how rare those cars are, and how they stopped making them in 1996. and that yellow car was in PERFECT condition and i literally wanted to cry
nothing was stopping me from knocking on the house owners door and talking to them about it and how much they paid for it and when they got it and from WHERE
so u walked up their driveway with the biggest smile ever as my body raged with excitement. i finally got to the car and gasped as i slowly walked around it and admired it
i still wasn't completely sure if it was an actual RX7 as some brands tried to copy it and sell it for cheaper back in the day when it was first made, but for the most part it looked completely real and i was totally in shock
so after a couple minutes i walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. after a minute of waiting a guy who looked about 20 years old with brunette, medium length hair opened the door with a shocked and confused face
"hi! i'm really sorry to bother but i just wanted to speak to you about that car" i said as i pointed to the yellow car
"ohh uh- i'm not the owner of that, but let me get the owner down here for ya. just give me one sec pls" said they guy as i nodded my head and said thank u. he then closed the door and i stood there looking back at the yellow car with amazement as i shook my head and laughed
the door finally opened and this guys with blonde curly hair and the best face i've ever seen looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed before he took one look at me and raised his eyebrows
i snapped out of the trance this very handsome man just put me in and turned my body to face his
"hi! um is that car an actual RX7?" i said kinda awkwardly with a grin on my face as i impatiently waited for his answer
"uh yes it is?" the guy said with a chuckle as my jaw dropped
"like an actual 1993 mazda RX7 FD??" i said in shock
"yes!!" he said with a smile on his face
"oh my god that's amazing!" i said as i ran back over to it and bent down to take a closer look at the tires
"i mean oh my god i'm sorry i'm not trying to come on ur guys property n stuff but this car is just amazing- and oh my god it is in mint condition!" i said while dragging my finger along the crevasses of the car
"yeah! i love this car it's my baby!" said the guy as i laughed
"OH MY GOD can you please pop the hood i'm begging!!" i said as i turned around to look at him
he shrugged and pulled out the keys from his pocket and unlocked the car. he then opened the door and pressed the button next to the shell to pop the hood
i jumped with excitement as i smiled and lifted it up. i gasped and my jaw fell to the floor as i looked at all the different vintage parts of the car
"i actually think i'm going to cry." i said as my eyes actually filled up with tears. i pointed to random parts of the vehicle and asked him if they were what i thought they were and every time he said yes my eyes watered a little more
"i don't think u understand how amazed i am right now. like i actually have tears in my eyes" i said with a laugh as he laughed as well
"what's ur name? where'd u meant all this shit about cars?" he asked as he looked at me in the eyes
"oh haha my names dakota. my dad actually owns a car shop and i grew up working on cars with him. i only ever saw any RX7 once and it was a 1995 that was illegal because it had a left hand driving configuration. it was so beautiful though and it was the first car i ever worked on!" i said before looking back into his eyes to see his were completely full of excitement
"holy shit. that's actually hella cool especially from someone like you i would never expect that! my names vinnie. where's ur dads shop i've probably heard of it before!" said vinnie as i started laughing uncontrollably
vinnie furrowed his eyebrows and started laughing at me laughing, even tho i could tell he was so confused
"i'm sorry it's just- HAHA- my dads shop is in Hawaii! if you've heard of it before i would be shocked!" i said as i giggled some more
"HAWAII?? WHAT?" said vinnie as his jaw dropped
"YES!! that's where i'm from! i grew up in Kailua which is a town on the east coast of island Oahu!" i said with a smile as vinnie shook his head and laughed in amazement
"wow. i just cannot believe that! why are u in california then?" asked vinnie as he leaned up against his car
"oh i'm staying in my grandparents house in this neighborhood. in fact, they actually only live a couple houses down!" i said as vinnie nodded his head
"yea i was gonna say i haven't seen u around at all until now" he said as he chuckled
"oh yeahh! i flew here yesterday but besides that me and my family only really come here once a year over the holidays" i said as vinnie nodded his head
"how long will u be here this time?" asked vinnie as i told him i was going to be staying here the whole summer. his face lit up and i smiled as he laughed
"oh my god i have to show my dad this!!" i said as vinnie laughed. i set down my surfboard and grabbed my flip phone out my bag. i then called my dad and within a few rings he finally answered
"dad!! hey!! so i called you because im with this guy who has the coolest car i've ever seen. and you wont believe what car it is" i said as i listened to my dad guess which car it could be
"no!!" i said with a laugh as my dad guessed the furthest thing from it
"here dad i'll give u a hint!! what was the first car u ever worked on?" i said as my dad gasped over the phone
"NO? IS IT AN RX7??" asked my dad in disbelief as i screamed yes
"but not just any RX7. dad it's a 1993!!" i said with a steal as my dad freaked out over the phone
"i know i couldn't believe it either!!! u wanna talk to the guy who owns it?!?" i asked as my dad said yes. i looked over at vinnie to see he was already looking at me
"my dad wants to talk to you!!" i said as vinnie laughed and took the phone from my hand
"hey!" said vinnie as he talked to my dad. my dad asked all kind of questions like where he got it from, who he got it from, how much, when, all of that stuff. vinnie laughed and answered all his questions as he got along with my dad
they even started to go into different conversations before i got bored of just standing there and took the phone from vinnies hands as vinnie and my dad whined
"ok dad i gotta go, but i'm gonna take a picture of it for you before i leave! alr. love u dad. bye!" i said as i closed my phone and squealed
"AHHH i still can't believe it. do u mind if i take a picture??" i asked as vinnie said he didn't mind at all
so i got out my old fashioned camera and took a picture of the car.
"vinnie stand next to the car and pose" i said as vinnie laughed and kneeled down next to the car and held up a peace sign. i took the picture as i laughed and showed him it. he laughed as well as we traded spots and he took a few pictures of me next to it while posing
"OMG VINNIE CAN WE GO FOR A DRIVE IN IT PLEASE!" i begged as vinnie shrugged
"let's go!" he said as i squealed and said thank u a million times before getting into the passenger seat
"AND A RED INTERIOR??? i'm going to cry i'm so serious" i said as i looked around the inside of the car while vinnie kept laughing. he then started the car and we took off into the street
i laughed and shouted with joy as vinnie pressed the gas and we rode all around town. i rolled down the window and leaned out the window while facing vinnie still. i waved my arms out the window as well while me and vinnie laughed as my hair got all in my face
he ended up dropping me off at my house and i said goodbye to him before realizing i left my board at his house
"how about this. i'll come pick u up in this car with ur board and we go down to the beach and u can teach me how to surf" said vinnie as i laughed
"hmm. sure! but what do i get in return?" i asked with a smirk on my face
"in return for what?" asked vinnie
"for teaching u how to surf!" i said with a laugh as vinnie laughed too
"hmm. i'll let u drive my car" he said as my jaw dropped
"DEAL!!" i said as the both of us laughed again. we then said our goodbyes and vinnie drove back to his house as i entered mine and told my grandparents all about where i was.
