Killian woke up, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The nap he'd taken was one he truly needed and what made it better was that, he slept with someone. He felt a bit secured and safe, not that he had to watch his back, it just made him feel like he wouldn't be alone ever again.
Killian looked over to see her writing on a notepad, he moved around looking for his phone which caused Kavina to look over to him.
“Oh you're up”, she spared him a glance before she continued to write
“Hmm”, he hummed looking for his phone
He'd finally found it and checked the time, 8:24, he sighed removing his arm from Kavinaʼs waist and sitting up, leaning his head on the headboard.
He glanced over to what she was writing but couldn't make out of it, he used this time to take in her features, and Lord had he just seen a goddess.
Her latte-coloured clear skin with her plump yet slender lips and her hazel eyes, how they squinted as she began to write and her weave, red being his favorite colour made his thoughts of a her a bit lustful but he couldn't, he respected her besides she was a stranger, he couldn't think of her like that, not now.
“Staring is rude, Killian”, she wrote away on her notepad
What she said had startled him a bit, he didn't know she had seen him looking so he cleared his throat and asked the question that had run through his mind, “Whatchu writing?”
She looked over to him, dropping her pen and notepad on her lap, “A poem”
He nodded his head intrigued, “You're a poet?”
She blankly stared at him, “Aspiring”
“Can I read it?”, he asked holding his hand out for her notepad
“I'll read it”, she snapped
He mugged her, “I ain't illiterate”
She sighed, “I ain't say that you were but it's mine, only I should read, the rest shall hear”
“I'm fine with it, go ahead then shawty”, he shurgged
“Okay”, she said almost above a whisper
He watched her breath in and out, tracing her finger in each line of the poem.
He slightly smiled at her, “Go on, na'”
She watched him almost suspiciously before she began.
“A man with brownskin
Coffee-beans
Skin I wish to flow in
His voice, the husk and base
His plump lips, his face
A real man in God's place
His demeanor, closed off
Trust no one
His brown eyes, seeing through disguise
Under his gaze I fear
Self-affirmation has to be said over and over in my head
He cares for no one's feelings
For whom shall he spare
A stranger I've met but shall see again
A real man, I have met”, she ended off her poem
He stared at her in awe, the passion she'd read it with, the story behind it, he'd never known that the man was him but he knew she'd met someone she'd hope to see again.
He smirked nodding his head, “Shit's fire”
Kavina nods her head, turning away shyly before setting her notepad and pen on her nightstand.
“You want some ice-cream?”, she randomly offered staring at him
He looked a way with a slight blush, there was no doubt that she'd made him a bit nervous.
He shook his head, “Whea ya bathroom at?”
“You leave my room, on your right, down the hall, you'll find a bathroom”, she directed him
“Preciate it”, he got up from the bed making his way to the bathroom
“Killian.”, he heard his name being called
“Wassup”, he turned to look at Kavina
“You know where the kitchen is, right?” she asked
“Get to tha' point shawty”, he sighed
“Can you grab me a bottled water?”, she hesitantly askes
He nodded his nead leaving for the bathroom.
Minutes later, he'd come back from his journey and tossed her the bottled water which she gladly thanked him for before flopping beside her on her bed.
“Whatchu you do?”, he asked looking at her
“Elaborate”, she drank some of her water
“You said you's an aspiring poet, whatchu do now”, he asked
“I'm a waitress”, she drank more of her water
“Where at”, he wondered
“Damn you the feds or sum”, she mugged him
“Just tell me”, he sighed
“Coco&Soul”, she muttered
“That's wassup”, he nodded his head
“Did you see my parents down there?”, she asked
He stretched, “Nah, ion think they in the crib either, it's hella quiet”
They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before Killian spoke.
He looked over to her, “You got some music?”
“Yeah, you want me to play?”, she asked looking over to him
He nods his head, “Yeah”
She blushed, “I'm on some Cartier shit right na' so don't judge me for what I'm about to play”
She connected her phone to her speaker.
He chuckled, “I'm chill on Cartier, Clayco”
She laughed before hitting play on a unreleased Carti song “Bando”
“This song gets me depressed”, she muttered
“So why you playing it”, he mugged her
She shrugged, “It's nice”
He shook head as he vibed to the music.
I know some niggas in Clayco
We trapping on muhfucking pero
“You like Carti?”, she asked him
He looked at her, trying to figure out an answer.
He scrunched his face up, “I don't know, them weird stories about him practicing satanism and sucking dick...”
She giggled at how his face was at the “sucking dick” part
“Shit, ion know what to think bout him, but his music be good, no lie on that one”, he finished
She nodded her head and they fell into silence, besides the music playing in the background.
He fell in love with a draco
I know some niggas in Clayco
We trapping on muhfucking pero
I was just praying in the bando
“whatchu listen to besides this?”, he asked her
“Male artists?”, she wondered
He chuckled, “Yeah, lemme hear about the niggas first”
She giggled, “uhh, okay. We got Bryson Tiller, Brent Faiyaz, Tupac, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, KashDami, yvngxchris...”
He shook his head, “I just heard about ten niggas names and you ain't done”
“Nope, okay but you wanna get judgy. Let's hear your list. Females, go.”, she smirked
He was shocked, this wasn't the same shy girl from this afternoon but he liked it.
He laughed, “Okay, less go. I got, Ambré, Bktherula...”
She shook her head, “Aht, aht. Bktherula don't count”
He chuckled, “How come she don't count”
She shrugged, “She's basically a nigga”
“The hell she ain't, she got coochie”, he defended
“Yeah, but in that one song she was like...”, she started off
“You step into her life and now that bitch mmkay, I step into her life and now that bitch mmgay”, she finished
“You got me there, but you acting like you ain't seen the pic of Carti sucking dick”, he clapped back
She shook her head, “That shit is fake. He would never”
“But he would though”, he retorted
“Shutup and finish yo list”, she mugged him
He shrugged, “So, I got Ambré, DaniLeigh, Sza, Summer Walker, Kali Uchis, Sáde...”
“You lie!, Sáde?”, she cheesed
“You ain't never gonʼ let me finish my list”, he joked
“I'm sorry”, she blushed
“It's cool, but yeah I listen to her shawty, you a fan?”, he smirked
“Fan, mmtch, I ain't just a fan, more like I basically is her number one fan. I love her music”, she boasted
“Nah that's chill, I respect that, play sum of hers real quick”, he nodded his head
“Okay”, she pressed play and “You're not the man” began to play
They sat in silence listening to the song. Being actually one of Killianʼs favorite songs of hers, he smiled a bit.
You're not the man
Who gave me everything I've ever wanted
You're not the man
Who stepped inside my life
“This song's so beautiful”, Kavina smiled
“Yeah, one of my favorite”, Killian nodded his head
You're not the man
Who said he'd never leave
Couldn't breathe
Could not sleep without me
“Reminds me a lot about my dad”, Killian smiled
“How?”, Kavina looked at him
He shrugged, “He said he'd always be there but when I was eight, he got arrested and now he's been doing time for about sixteen years, I still love him, that's my pops and all but he said...”
“He'd always be there, same shit with my biological mom but that thing is that she left willingly, it was a choice”, she shrugged
“Shit my bad”, he apologized sincerely
“It's all good”, she smiled a bit
You're not the man
Who would bleed for me
Never shed a tear
“You're not the man”, they sang along
And that's how they spent their night. Singing along to songs together while reflecting and relating to one another.
