"It's easy girlfriend. Get closer to him tonight."
Anne suggested and Eden's eyes popped out like saucers. That wasn't in her mind and it didn't even bother to cross her mind either. Having sex with Julian gave her a weird feeling attached to the back of her throat. Somehow it didn't feel right to her despite the fact that they were dating.
"What..are you even blabbering about Anne. You want me to sleep with him?" Eden blinked in shock staring at Anne. "What's the problem Eden? Don't tell me you're suddenly a woman who only decides to have sex when she's married. Don't forget you always slept with Lionel before you both got married." Anne defended.
Eden didn't say a word nor reply her after that. How was she supposed to tell Anne that Lionel's case was different back then. Back then her heart ached for him. She loved her body being pounded under him. His touch and scent, it always made her rile up and to drown into her utmost sexual bliss. But with Julian, she didn't feel all of those things no matter how hard she tried to feel at least a little for him. She just couldn't control her heart in that aspect.
"Why would you suggest Eden to do something like that?" Susan walked out of the passage hall giving Anne a disapproving look. Anne rolled her eyes and just couldn't get them and why her idea was so bad.
"It's not that your idea isn't a good one but in this situation, it's not. Eden..." Susan turned to Eden holding a serious look on her face. "It's very evident that you don't love him at all. Your heart isn't with Julian." Susan's words shooked Eden on her spot.
"Susan!" Anne gasped in shock hearing Susan. "Are you suggesting Eden breaks up with Julian. He's a nice guy and loves our Eden very much and much more." Anne did all she could to defend Julian. Anne's words about Julian was beginning to make Eden feel guilty about not reciprocating his love. She felt she was only using him at her moments of despair. She felt she wasn't trying on her part to build up her relationship with Julian.
"I know Julian's a nice man but Eden doesn't love him and in this case, both of them will suffer if they continue in this relationship. I now think it was better that Julian and Eden stayed as friends." Susan lowered her voice towards the end of her statement before silence enveloped the living room.
Both Susan and Anne turned to Eden and wanted her answer.
"Do you love him Eden?" Anne asked carefully reaching out her hands and holding Eden's in a tight and comforting manner giving her best reassuring smile. "I mean do you like being with him?" Anne rephrased her question to make it easier for Eden to respond.
Eden licked her lips and inhaled deeply trying to find the words to put together. Even she wasn't sure at this point about if she wanted this relationship with Julian. A part of her was holding a huge boulder in her chest thinking of Julian being hurt if she chose to take a break and figure out what she wanted. She also noticed that Julian had been on edge and extremely jealous lately which wasn't his normal and usual behaviour.
"And...." Susan implored and Eden's next answer made Susan blink in shock and Anne sighing in relief.
"I want to give Anne's idea a go-ahead."
"What! You want to have sex with Julian even though deep down you don't want it. Come on Eden. I would have never excepted this from you of all people Eden. You're a feisty woman and always sets other people straight but today you're cowering down by choosing to sleep with him. I hope you know by taking this next step, there's no going back." Susan warned and Anne huffed out immediately.
"Stop Susan. Be a good friend and be supportive." Anne smiled at Eden. Eden only managed a small smile. Susan shooked her head and threw a disappointing look at Eden. "You know Eden, trying not to hurt Julian is one thing but what you're doing to him under the pretext of not causing him pain is actually hurting him deep. You know you aren't in love with him and by this truth, Julian doesn't deserve to be stuck in a loveless relationship." Susan replied and Anne blinked in amusement before chuckling out loud.
"And what's so funny in what I just said Anne? This is serious." Susan spoke in a serious tone of voice.
"And you think Lionel is the right choice for her?" Anne retorted in a flat and serious tone of voice as well. "And why bring Lionel into the picture?" Susan asked. "Because everything you're saying to Eden right now is all in hopes of Eden getting back together with Lionel and to end things with Julian." Anne replied confidently with her hands fisted on her waist.
Susan blinked, "Am not saying Eden has to go back into Lionel's life but to see her happy and free. It's so evident that her relationship with Julian isn't setting her free but it's trapping her, why can't you see that Anne? I agree that Julian's a nice man but he isn't the one for Eden because Eden doesn't feel the same way about him like he does. This way both of them are suffering instead of being happy independently." Susan tried to explain to Anne but Anne rolled her eyes.
"It's obvious that few good deeds of Lionel are enough to erase all the bad deeds that he has committed in your eyes Susan." Anne looked disappointed at Susan. "Again with the subject of Lionel!" Susan was beginning to loose it right now.
"Stop! Stop please! Enough." Eden stood up from the couch and stood in the middle of Anne and Susan. "You guys shouldn't be fighting because of me." She said and faced Susan, "And am old enough to know what I want in life and what not so don't worry about me. I have to do this. I have to at least try harder in this relationship before it's too late." Eden spoke softly making Susan shake her head in disbelief.
"Whatever you're doing to Julian and especially to yourself isn't right and both of you are going to get hurt. You can leave Mia here while you go on ahead with your plan to be with Julian. That's all I can say right now." Susan replied and walked out of her living room towards the passage hall to meet Mia. Eden sighed and exhaled slowly before slumping back on the couch wondering what she was even doing.
Anne sat down beside her. "Look I know relationships can be hard sometimes but we still have to try. I only want to see you happy and I definitely know that Lionel isn't the right man for you Eden. But Julian is the exception here and I know he'll never hurt you because his love for you is pure." Anne's comforting words weren't soothing Eden's worry at the moment. Sure Anne was going to think that way about Julian but Eden wasn't settled within her. Even she had felt the same way as Anne about Julian but only she knew what had been changing in Julian. He was never doubtful of her and never insecure about anything before until now.
"So what are you going to wear for tonight's occasion for your boyfriend?" Anne giggled out but found Eden looking into the direction of the passage hall where Susan stormed out. Anne rubbed her shoulders tenderly making Eden to face her again. "Susan's just upset because she cares about you and only wants what's best for you. She doesn't understand that in comparison between Lionel and Julian....Julian's the right choice." Anne said proudly and Eden could only smile hoping she would be able to make Julian less insecure and know that she's also trying from her end on their relationship not to wither away.
Eden made a call to Julian and immediately stated what she wanted and that it had to be tonight. Julian on the phone was stunned by her proposal and couldn't bring out his words as he was deep in shock. Never would he have thought she would be the one to initiate a sexual relation with him. His anxious heart that didn't stop worrying for a second after Paula sent him the photo had vanished completely. His heart leaped out for joy as he had always dreamt and reminisced about this day happening soon. He didn't want to ruin things and her trust for him by forcing her to be with him but gave her space to decide and he guessed finally his wait and patience had paid off and Eden was ready to take the next step. He knew if he and Eden made love tonight, all of his worries concerning Lionel being a threat would completely disappear like a puff of smoke.
Julian smiled and promised to make their night a special and an unforgettable one. He hanged up and rushed out of his office earlier than usual planning to prep before he would go to pick her up from Susan's house.
His secretary was surprised to see her boss going back to his cheerful old self again in just a split second and wondered what it could be. Julian rushed out of his office building and drove to one of the most expensive florist stores in New York. He bought her a beautiful huge bouquet of roses. Roses always had a nice and calming fragrance and knew it would be suitable for Eden and hence chose that specific flower. He was so excited and over the moon. Finally! Finally he was going to have his moment alone with Eden tonight and he just couldn't wait for the time to tick seven.
He got home afterwards prepping everything to perfection and made sure to even buy her favorite white wine she liked so much. He had a quick and relaxing shower before wearing his best formals for the night. Eden had no idea that her one move to have a night of passion with Julian had made Julian board a plane towards the skies that was filled with nothing but bliss and wants. His need to have her tonight knew no bounds and his patience was wearing thin by the second.
Eden had informed him via Whatsapp chat to pick her up by seven pm sharp from Susan's house. He had on his most expensive and intense cologne on and made sure to spray his home with her favourite fragrance before leaving. It was 6:40pm when he left his home to pick her up. He had everything planned to a tea. They would start with a few kinking of their glasses before chatting away during dinner and finally the cherry on top of his imaginative dessert which was to be with Eden in both body and soul. He hoped Eden was excited as he was for their night ahead.
He played her favorite music while driving over to Susan's house. He had kept the bouquet of roses at the backseat of his car humming to the tunes and beats of the erupting music. He tapped his fingers on the steering while moving his head to the rhythm of the music and smiling all the way.
It was past seven when he pulled over at Susan's house. He reached for the bouquet on the backseat and got out after straightened his jacket and slightly pressing his gelled blonde hair to the side. He inhaled and exhaled deeply and put on his best smile for only the woman he loves. Tonight was going to be a special night for him and hopefully after tonight, the problem called Lionel would be out of his head and stop causing him a headache.
He walked over to the small lawn before climbing the three small steps that led to the door. He checked himself and even once again sprayed his mouth before ringing the doorbell.
The door opened and Anne poked her head out. She smiled sheepishly seeing Julian all dressed up and looking as dashing as ever. She could tell by his glowing face that he was ecstatic for their night and it made her grin. "Yes, to whom am I speaking with?" She feigned with a smile. Julian chuckled at her act and decided to play along. "Well am Julian Hamston and here to take my lovely girlfriend out." Julian even courtesied and Anne smiled. "Come in."
Anne made a way for Julian to enter and his eyes blinked spotting Eden walking out in a red long gown that was a very neck line with golden beads attached around the neckline. She adorned a small silver necklace round her white skinned neck and tied her hair in an updo.
"You look so beautiful." Julian complimented and Eden smiled his way, "You're also looking dashing as well."
"For you," Julian offered her the bouquet and Anne gasped silently enjoying the scene before her eyes. Eden smiled even more and accepted the gift. "It's beautiful." She whispered and Julian's shoulders were raised slightly feeling proud of his selection of flowers. "Shall we?" Julian extended his hands to her.
Eden nodded and took his hands handing over the bouquet to Anne for safe keeping till she returned. Anne winked at her and wished her all the best for her night of passion with Julian. Susan didn't come out of her room and remained in the company of Mia. Eden felt sad about it but Anne assured her of everything being okay.
Julian led Eden out of the house and went ahead to open the door to the passenger's seat for her. Eden thanked him and got in. She would be a liar if she said she wasn't damn nervous right now. Her hands were not that sweaty and was grateful for Julian not suspecting anything. The last thing she wanted was to get the night ruined when she was the one to initiate the idea to Julian. She pounded on Susan's words and wondered if she was doing the right thing.
Julian quickly rounded to his side and hopped in and then glancing over at her.
"Are you ready honey?" Julian smiled way too much and his over excitement was making Eden to brace herself and move ahead with the night. She nodded with a smile and Julian kick started the engine roaring the car to life and they drove off.
Eden's phone rang and saw it was an unknown number, she picked up and her eyes opened at who the caller was.
