Finally racing night. The night Dayanara's troubles felt as if they faded away. Just 10 seconds of clearance and peace with the addition of an adrenaline rush
Her love for racing and cars has always been strong as she learned from her brother and eventually the team
The team pulled into the event as they exited their cars. Dominic was immediately rushed by two blonde bimbos, with Letty and Dayanara following behind him
Dayanara as well brushed off the men who seemed to hover around her like birds and a piece of bread
"Hey, Camille. You been doing yoga? You did? Of course you did. Monica" Dominic making small talk with the girls, before Letty started visibly sniffing the air in front of them
"I smell skanks" she raised her brow "Why don't you girls pack it up before I leave tread marks on your face" She watched the girls walk away
"Letty, I was just talking" Dominic tried
"Yeah. Whatever" she scoffed. Dayanara gave her brother a playful smile and shrugged her shoulders
Dominic started negotiating the race as Daya leaned on her car "You racing today?" Letty asked
"Yeah, I need some type of stress relief, with my exams coming up"
"You'll do great" Letty offered her a smile before they started heading towards Dom for the race to start
"Hey, wait. Hold up" a voice spoke. They all turned to look but when Dayanara turned her face lit up at the boy "I don't have any cash but I do have the pink slip to my car"
She was intrigued by him, always something new with him. She stood up making her way to the crowd. Her figure caught Brian's eye and he was now aware of her presence
"You just can't climb in the ring with Ali, 'cause you think you box" Jesse said metaphorically
"He knows I can box" Brian said pointing at Vince "Check it out it's like this. I lose, the winner takes my car. Clean and clear" he suggested "But if I win, I take the cash, and I take the respect"
A smile tugged at her lips by his words, always something new
"Respect?" Dominic repeated
"To some people, that's more important" His eyes moved back to look at her. Her eyes were glistening in the street lights, her shirt ended right where her small waist started, her low rise jeans that compliment her curves, but her eyes she could kill millions with those eyes
"You know what Brian" Dominic said breaking Brian's gaze to look at the other Toretto "You're in. Let's go"
They all got into their cars making their way to the starting line
"Ur racing today D?" Dominic asked looking at his sister who pulled in between him and Brian
"And winning today" she grinned and then turned to look at the blonde who was already looking at her "I hope your ready to hand over your car" she teased
"Oh I'm ready to win Dayanara" he replied with the same goofy grin "If I win you win you have to let me take you out"
"Let's see how you drive first playboy" she replied as her focus moved back to the road in front of her
"You better pray he doesn't win" Dom laughed getting his sister to roll her eyes
"Let's race" the women in front spoke "Ready. Go!"
"Hell yeah" Daya shouted stepping on the gas and gripping the clutch
She constantly switched gears as she was head to head with her brother and Brian not far behind
Brian pressed his nos as he desperately wanted to win and prove a point. He passed Dominic and Dayanara with a smile on his face but it wasn't long until his engine blew and the two Torettos passed him
"Too soon Brian" she shook her head looking at Brian in her rearview
The race flew by in seconds as always and they all pulled in and got out of their cars
The moment Dominic stepped out of his car from his win everyone surrounded him, but he made his way to his sister
"Good race D" Dominic smiled gripping her shoulder. She nodded her head with a smile when Hector came to him with the money "My sister holds the money, count it" he said
"and you're my trophy" lifting letty and placing a kiss on her lips
Brian then pulled in with a smug smile as he got out of his car with the hood of it fuming with smoke
"Was that fun" Jesse asked the Brian who had a childish grin
"What are you smiling about?"Dom questioned the blonde
"Dude. I almost had you guys" he chucked
"You almost had us? You never had us. You never had your car" he remarked and Daya smiled at comment "Granny-shifting, not double-clutching, like you should. You're lucky that 100-shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake. Almost had us?" Dominic laughed embarrassing him
"Now, me and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried" He said tapping the hood of Brian's car
"Ask any racer. Any real racer. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winnings" Dominic stated
Dayanara studied Brian, sure he wasn't the best driver but she admired the dedication he had
"We got cops! Cops. Go" They heard someone shout
Everyone chaotically ran to their cars making a run for it but by the time Daya went to hers, she saw Jesse driving it away
"Fuck" she grunted, putting her hands in her hair "Fuck it" she chose to run on foot when a pair of head lights followed behind her
"Dayanara!" a voice shouted "Get in"
She turned to the car pulled next to her and see Brian insisting to get into the car with him and she didn't hesitate to do so
"Thank you so much" she sighed turning to look at him and then looked behind them for any cops
"I can't take you out if your in handcuffs" he said turning to her
"Who said we were going out blondie?"
"You didn't say win or loose" referring to her previous remark about how he drove
"I thought that was implied" she titled her head at him with a small smile
"You weren't being specific"
"Your right I wasn't" she agreed "But what car were you planning on taking me with" she teased
Before he could respond she saw a familiar figure running through the alley
"Brian- Turn right now!" she shouted "It's my brother" he did so and turned driving towards him
"Get in" Brian said as he pulled up to Dominic
Dominic didn't think twice once he saw his sister in the car. She hopped into the back seat and he sat in the passenger seat
"Are you okay?" Dominic asked his sister glaring at Brian, right now was likely when Dom thought he stopped a possible kidnapping and the victim was his sister
"I'm fine" She assured him rubbing his shoulder for ease
"You're the last person in the world, I expected to show up"
"I thought by saving your sister i'll make it into your good graces and you might let me keep my car" Brian smiled
"You are in my good graces you kept me and my sister out of the back of a cop car, but you ain't keeping your car" Dom replied. Daya let out a small laugh resting her chin in her palm
"Are you a wheelman?" he questioned
"No"
"You boost cars?"
"No never"
"Ever done time?" Dom questioned again getting a look from Dayanara as he raided Brian with questions
"Couple overnighters, no big deal"
"What about the two years in juvie for boosting cars? Tuscson right?" Brian was taken back by this question as it was too spot on to deny "I had Jesse run a profile on you Brian Earl Spilner. He'll find anything on the Web. So why bullshit" Dominic finished
"No one has a pretty past" Dayanara added
"So, what about you?" Brian finally questioned him
"Two years in Lompoc" he answered. Dayanara's face fell at the memory "I'll die before I go back"
It was hard for her when Dom was in Lompoc. She missed school all the time and completely ghosted everyone. Of course Letty was constantly checking up on her, she's her best friend. And they needed each other it was her boyfriend who got put away
Silence filled the car but the sound of engines riving surround the outside of the car. As Daya looked out the windows, it wasn't hard to recognize the bikes
"Oh great" she sighed "It's going to be a long night" her brother looked at her with the same annoyed expression
"What is this?" Brian question
"Just wait" she responded before a man approached the window
"Follow us" a man spoke
