Shah Zain's POV (Edited)

I pulled her to my chest and wrapped my arms around her. It was a very bold and unpredictable gesture from my side because I noticed the way her whole stiffened and froze. She hadn't wrapped her arms around me. Maybe, she was still shock. I could bet, she didn't expect me to hug her out of nowhere. But I just couldn't control my instincts. I felt that incompressible urge to hug the life out of her. Her teary, innocent orbs played the lead role in that.

Slowly, she relaxed her body and also wrapped her arms around me. She tightened her hold and placed her head on my chest. I could feel her shaking from sobs. My shirt was probably getting wet but it's the least thing I cared about now. She was sniffling and trying not to cry. So, I rubbed her back to sooth her. She shouldn't cry over something she didn't do.

Finally, she pulled away. She had her eyes down too shy or maybe awkward to look at me. I scratched my neck in utter nervousness. I despised that feeling. I took a long breath to calm my racing heart and motioned her to sit down on the not so good looking bed. As she sat, I also took a seat beside her. She was still looking down so I placed my fingers beneath her chin and lifted her face up. She had stopped crying but reminses were still there. Dried tears marks appeared on her procelian cheeks. Honey like eyes red and puffy from crying. I hated that. I hated that I wasn't there to protect her when everyone was blaming her. I felt so sick.

When I saw that she had recovered from her fit of crying, I stated

"C'mon, let's go."

She looked at me with confused eyes and asked

"Where?"

I answered holding eye contact

"You're not staying here. Let's go to home."

She looked hesitant so I grabbed her hand and started walking towards the main house. I think it's time for them to understand that Shiza is not just a human but my wife and I will not tolerate anything harmful against her anymore. It took too much time to understand the worth of her but now that I have realized, I'll be damned if I ever let her mistreated by someone.
****

As we made our way inside the house, I could feel Shiza tightening her grip on me. I didn't look back and just kept walking. As we reached the lounge, I saw everyone gathered. Since it's Sunday so literally everyone was at home. Mama's eyes immediately hardened when she saw Shiza and stood up from her place. She looked so angry and stated in her hard tone

"What is she doing here?"

I chose not to reply. I started to walk upstairs but dad's voice stopped me

"Your mother asked you a question, Zain?"

I sighed heavily before turning around and causally saying

"What?"

Mama hissed before saying

"I asked what is she doing here?"

I looked at Shiza and saw her eyes down. She was looking scared but she shouldn't be. I once again turned to mama and told her again causally

"It's just me and my wife going to our room."

Mama's eyes widened for a second. Of course, she hadn't expected me to address Shiza as my wife. But enough is enough now. She snickered dryly before taunting

"What wife are you talking about, Shah Zain? She was practically forced upon you."

I clenched my jaw. I don't like how mom was taunting her. She remained quite for a few moments before saying as a matter of fact

"Go and leave her there. She will not stay in this house anymore."

This time I left Shiza's hand before taking a step ahead and came face to face to mom. I then asked her keeping my calm

"And why can't she stay here?"

At my question, Lubna Chachi immediately answered

"Beta, she tried to harm you."

At this point, I lost my temper and my voice was raised a little

"How the hell did she harm me?"

Everyone was quite shocked by my sudden outburst. Dado came forward before scolding me

"Zain, don't forget you're talking to your elders here. Keep your voice down."

I couldn't help but laugh. They all looked at me with puzzled eyes. I then asked dado

"Why didn't you do anything, dado?"

She looked at me with puzzlement so I elaborated

"Why didn't you take a stand for Shiza when everyone else was blaming her? Don't you trust her?"

At my questions, she remained quiet. I really didn't except this from her. She was the one who asked me to marry her, the one who told me that she was the nicest girl out there and that she was not capable of hurting anyone. Then why didn't she believe her or take a stand for her. I seriously can't able to wrapped my head around all of it.

When she didn't reply, I continued again

"Weren't you the one who asked me to marry her? Weren't you the one who told me that she has a heart of gold and that she can't hurt anyone. Then, why didn't believe her?"

She again remained quiet. Mama's hard voice again reached my ears

"I wonder what lies she fed you. She is not the what she shows us. She probably wanted to get rid of you so she tried to harm you."

This is unbelievable!

I tried to keep my anger at bay before shouting

"She does not hurt me, mama."

It was really hard for me to control my anger. First, they blamed her and now she was practically telling me that Shiza is the culprit. I turned my gazed towards Kinza who was standing there quietly. I know she was the different one in our house. She was always nice with Shiza. I only hoped she will tell me the truth. So I asked her

"Kinza, tell me what exactly happened last night and refrain from lying."

She looked at me wide eyed. I could tell she was hesitating because she was looking at her mother over and over. I saw Aaban urging her to speak so she spoke

"After you lost consciousness and was taken to your room, Shiza bhabhi was in the lounge. She was crying and I was trying to calm her down. Then, tayi came and started scolding and blaming her that she harmed you."

I turned to look at mama and she was avoiding eye contact. Kinza again continued

"Shiza bhabhi told that she didn't know that you were allergic but no one believed her. Everyone was still blaming her and tayi urged her to accept her mistake. But when bhabhi still denied, tayi..."

She trailed off not completing her sentence. I could saw her hesitating to say forward. But one nod from me and she started narrating, but this time her voice was stuttering like she was afraid

"Sh..she slapped her twice."

My posture went stiff. My fists were clenched and I was having a hard time controlling my anger. Kinza kept saying

"She even dragged her out of the house and locked her outside. She was out there in the cold for the whole night."

I couldn't believe my ears. Is she really my mother? My mother was never violent like that. How much can a person hate someone?

My eyes turned icy cold before I turned to mama. I tried to calm my anger because no matter what, she was my mother and I have no right to disrespect her. I then asked her

"Is that true, mum?"

She was not looking at me. Her hands were crossed around her chest and there was no look of remorse on her face. When she didn't answer, I again asked

"Is that true, mother?"

She finally looked in my direction before subtly nodding her head. I closed my eyes because all I could see was red. I then asked her

"And why did you do it?"

She scoffed before answering like it's nothing big

"Because she hurt my son and I would do it again if she ever try to hurt you again."

I couldn't bare now. I slammed my fist on the table before shouting

"She does not hurt me. In what language will you all understand? She didn't hurt me and I trust her."

Mama also raised her voice this time

"Stop defending this peasant, Shah Zain. She tried to lure in her trap so that she could find an excuse to stay in this house. She always wanted to stay here. No matter how long, she was lusting over our house."

This is getting out of control and I shouted back

"Stop insulting my wife mama."

She became quiet immediately. I then turned to look at everyone and made my myself loud and clear

"From now on, I don't want any one of you insulting or mistreating my wife. She is my wife. She is Shah Zain Mir's wife and she has the whole right to live here."

Everybody looked at me in shock. Mama stumbled on her words

"You're....you're believing her?"

I nodded my head before saying

"It took me long to understand the real worth of her and now that I had realized it, I won't let any of you humiliating her. Respect her like you respect each other."

I grabbed her hand in mine before saying the last thing

"Also, do not physically harm her. I won't tolerate any physical abuse on her."

With that said, I turned around to go upstairs when mama's voice again reached my ears

"Ask her to show us proof if she didn't do it."

I turned around totally shocked. What the hell? I could see everyone looking at mama with pure shock. She was unfazed though.

I climbed down before asking her

"What are you even saying, mama?"

She didn't reply but look at Shiza. She then mocked her

"If you're so innocent than show me the proof."

Shiza looked at me and I never felt so guilty ever. She was trying not to cry and I know how awful it must be for her. Mama was clearly disrespecting her. She fidgeted with her fingers before opening her mouth but before she could utter anything, I warned her

"Don't you dare."

She immediately became quiet and I said to mama

"She's not showing you any proof. She didn't do it and I believe her."

Mama scoffed and wanted to say something but I was really tired. Why isn't she understanding? So, I tried my luck

"Can't you respect your son's wife? Is it really that hard?"

At my question, she became quiet. I can't believe she is my mother. She was always looking out for everyone. Why does she hate Shiza? When she didn't say anything, I sighed before jogging upstairs and again took ahold of Shiza's hand and went upstairs to my room...
****

As we entered inside, I left her hand and ran my hands in my hair. Today was too much. My headache had returned and I could also feel my body aching. I took deep breaths to calm myself down before I heard her soft voice

"Are you okay?"

I turned around to look at her. She was looking at me with concerned filled eyes. I nodded my head and told her

"You should take some rest. It's been a long day."

She didn't say anything and stood rooted on her spot. I walked towards her but grabbing her by her shoulders and asking her

"What's wrong?"

She contemplated for some moments before uttering

"I don't have any proofs. But I promise I didn't..."

But I placed my finger on her lips before she could utter the whole sentence. She stiffened immediately and pressed her lips. I cleared out to her then

"Don't say it. I believe you and you don't have to prove anything. Now, go and get fresh."

She nodded her head before making her way towards the bathroom. But then she again paused and turned around. I waited for her to say something before she finally muttered

"Why did you believe me?..."
