It was the next day and was the first day of Midoriya and Rex's work study. They were both at Nighteye's agency in their hero costumes standing next to Mirio and Bubble Girl as they were standing in front Nighteye's desk.
Nighteye : Today, we will be doing patrols and surveillance. We'll split up into two groups with me and Bubble Girl, and Mirio, Rex, and Midoriya.
Midoriya : Surveillance?
Rex : I know we usually do patrols, but what's the surveillance for?
Bubble Girl : Nigheye Agency is currently working on a secret investigation.
Nighteye : Shie Hassaikai is a small designated villain group. Its young head... in other words, the number two, Chisaki, has started strange actions. His plague mask is his trademark.
Nighteye then shows the four a picture of the number two of the villain group, Chisaki.
Midoriya : That mask's scary! But designated villain groups are under the surveillance of the police, so they usually seem obedient.
Bubble Girl : It's because there was a big break up once in the past. But this Chisaki guy is starting to gather them again for some reason. Recently, he's even made contact with the League of Villains. The details are unclear, though.
Rex & Midoriya : The League of Villains...?!
Nighteye : But we haven't been able to get any proof that he's planning anything criminal. Because of that, the Hassaikai is a gray close to black, and we cannot treat them like villains. What we're after is their tail. Be careful not to let them suspect anything.
Team Nighteye : Yes, sir!

With that said everyone in the room split off into their groups to go and patrol their routes while keeping an eye for the Shie Hassaikai. While Mirio, Rex, and Midoriya were walking down their route the civilians who were passing by saw that they were heroes.
Girl #1 : Oh, heroes!
Girl #2 : It's the boy who was in the U.A. sports festival on TV. And the other boy with the nanites.
Midoriya : I-I'm nervous...
Mirio : You must've at least gone on patrol at your internship, right? Oh, was the League of Villains attack too traumatic?
Midoriya : No, but for various reasons, I wasn't able to experience the basics... Aren't you nervous, Rex?
Rex : No. I did patrols all the time during my internship, so this isn't anything new.
Mirio : But don't worry! Sir and Bubble Girl are the ones actually watching the targets today. We're just on patrol! I'll teach you two a bunch of stuff.
Mirio then starts to feel fired up as he starts to pump both his arms up and down.
Mirio : Stick with me! Now that I think about it, we haven't told each other our hero names, huh?
Midoriya : Th-That's true... I'm Deku?
Mirio : Deku? Deck? You okay with that?
Midoriya : I am.
Mirio : Okay. What about you, Salazar?
Rex : I'm Generator Rex.
Mirio : I'm Lemillion. I don't have to save everyone, but 1,000,000... Not all, but a million– That's what I want to do, that's why I chose Lemillion! Once we put on our costumes and go out into the streets, we're heroes. Don't let your guard down, Deku, Generator Rex!
Midoriya : I won't, Lemillion!
Rex : I won't either. And you don't need to say the "Generator" part, just call me Rex.
Mirio : *nods* Yeah.
The three then continue to walk down the street, but as they do someone runs out of the alleyway and bumps into Midoriya making him stop as he looks down at who bumped into him.
This causes Rex and Mirio to stop walking and turn around to see that a little girl with a horn and bandages on her arms and legs had bumped into Midoriya and fell on the ground.
Midoriya : Sorry, that must've hurt.
Midoriya crouches near the little girl and reaches his hand out to her but she soon flinches while having a scared expression.
Midoriya : Can you stand? Are you okay?
Midoriya tries to pick up the little girl as Rex notices that the second that Midoriya touched her, she started to tremble.
Rex : ( She's trembling? )
??? : Now, you know...
The students then hear a voice calling out nearby making the little girl flinch once more. The three young heroes look up to the alleyway where the voice came from as a figure walked out of the alleyway, as they didn't expect to see him.
Chisaki : ...you can't go around causing trouble for the heroes.
Rex and Midoriya's eyes then widen in shock as they see the number two of the Shie Hassaikai, Kai Chisaki standing in front of them.
Chisaki : I'm sorry about my daughter, hero. She likes to play around a lot and keeps getting hurt. I don't know what to do with her.
Rex : ( Shie Hassakai's Chisaki... This is the guy Nighteye's after... )
The two first years continued to stare at Chisaki in shock, when suddenly Mirio taps Rex lightly in the back of his head and pulls up Midoriya's hood to cover his face.
Mirio : *to Midoriya* Your hood and mask came off again. Maybe the sizing's off? *to Chisaki* We're sorry too, for bumping into her. With that lovely mask, you must be from Hassaikai, right? You guys are famous around here.
Chisaki : Yes, don't worry about the mask. I'm sensitive to filth. It's my first time seeing you three heroes. Except for maybe you with the jacket. I've seen you on TV before. You're Rex Salazar, the one with the nanites, right?
Rex then jumps from Chisaki turning to him as he pulls his goggles over his eyes to hide his shocked expression.
Mirio : Yeah, he's been getting pretty famous. We're still new, so we're pretty nervous. Now, stand up, partner! Let's head toward a future we haven't seen yet!
Mirio, who was acting calm despite the situation, glances at Chisaki and sees that he was on guard.
Mirio : ( He's obviously on guard. I can't tell him Sir's name. )
Chisaki : What agency do you belong to?
Mirio : We're students! We're still so new that it would be presumptuous to identify with an agency. We're just gaining some experience in different places for our internships. Anyway, we need to finish patrolling this division by lunch. Let's go!
Midoriya : Right!
Midoriya tries to stand up but the little girl grips onto his costume even tighter with tears in her eyes as Rex notices this as well.
??? : D... Don't go...
Rex and Midoriya who saw and heard the girl begging them not to leave her then felt a huge pressure on their whole body and did not want to move. Though it was a good idea to stay, Rex couldn't deny his instinct and takes a step towards Midoriya and the little girl.
Rex : If I can say something, your daughter seems scared.
Chisaki : It's because she just got a scolding.
Mirio : ( Stop with that extra suspicion. ) Let's go!
Rex : But her bandages don't look like ones that come from playing too much...
Midoriya : ( This girl... She's grabbed onto me and won't let go. )
Chisaki : She falls a lot.
Rex : For such a small child to be trembling like this without making a sound... I don't think that's normal.
Chisaki : *slightly serious* Please don't force your own "normal" on other people's families.
Mirio : Everyone has different dispositions, right? ( Stop it. Chisaki obviously doesn't want you to pry. If he becomes more cautious, then he'll be less likely to show himself. Let's just let it go. )
Midoriya : ( No, he'll be more suspicious then. It's unnatural! What Rex is doing is the right thing here. A hero wouldn't just let a scared child go. )
Rex & Midoriya : *serious* What are you doing to this girl?
The atmosphere then grows silent a bit tense for a few seconds before Chisaki sighed and looked up at the three.
Chisaki : Jeez, heroes are so sensitive to the subtle signs in people, huh? Very well. It's embarrassing to talk about it. People are watching here, so will you come this way with me?
Chisaki then turns around and starts to walk down the alleyway while Midoriya stood up from the ground with the little girl in his arms. Rex walks over to the two and starts to quietly speak to Mirio and Midoriya.
Rex : Give her to me. If something bad happens, I'll use the Boogie Pack and fly out of here as fast and far as I can. I'll come back for you both.
The two then nod their heads at Rex's plan as Midoriya hands the little girl over to Rex as he holds her in his arms. The little girl continues to tremble in fear while continuing to grip onto his costume as Rex lifts his goggles and looks down at the girl.
Rex : You'll be fine. Trust me, 'kay?
Rex pulls down his goggles and pats the girl on the head to reassure her as the three students walk down the alleyway.
Chisaki : Actually, recently, I've had a lot of problems with Eri. She just keeps defying me no matter what I say.
Midoriya : ( Abuse...? )
Mirio : Parenting, huh? It must be hard.
Chisaki : Yes, children are hard to understand. They feel like they can and will become someone... They seriously think that...
Chisaki reaches for his gloves and was about to take them off, making the girl named Eri's eyes widen from shock. Chisaki glances over at Eri and gives the little girl a terrifying stare making her jump a bit.
Eri then pushes herself off of Rex and runs over to Chisaki, surprising Rex and Midoriya.
Chisaki : What, done with your tantrum already?
Eri only responds with a nod while she was gripping her hand into a tight fist.
Midoriya : Huh? Um... Eri...?
Chisaki : She's always like this. I'm sorry you had to listen to my problems, too. Sorry for the trouble. Well, do your best at work.
Rex : Wait–
Mirio simply stops Rex by putting his arm in front of him.
Midoriya : Why...?
Mirio : We're not going after them. Didn't you notice? He showed his killing intent to pull that girl back to him. If we chase them too far, it'll be even harder to catch him. Let's ask Sir what to do.
Rex and Midoriya look over to where Chisaki and Eri walked off to and couldn't help but feel frustrated towards themselves for letting her go as it started to rain.

[ Time Skip ]
After their encounter with Chisaki, Mirio called Bubble Girl and told her what happened between them. Currently, Nighteye and the others regrouped near a convenience store and started to go over what happened.
Mirio : Sorry! It was an accident! I never thought we'd run into him like running into a transfer student at a crossroads...
Nighteye : No, this is my fault. We could've avoided this if I'd used Foresight on you three beforehand.
Bubble Girl : Anyway, I'm just glad you're all right. If you acted carelessly and made him suspicious, you might've been in danger.
Midoriya : It didn't seem that scary...
Nighteye : The other day, as a hand of robbers were escaping, there was a truck accident that involved some people. The people involved were Chisaki and others from the Hassaikai. But there were zero casualties. Those from the band of robbers felt intense pain and passed out, but for some reason, they were uninjured, and even chronic ailments like rheumatism and cavities were completely gone. They thought this was due to Chisaki's Quirk, but because they caught the villains and no one was injured, there wasn't anything to accuse him of.
Bubble Girl : But they said that all the money that was stolen burned up and nothing was left. The police found no sign of a crime in that regard, but either way, it seemed suspicious, so Nighteye Agency started watching them. We don't know that they're thinking, but we do know that they act when they must.
Mirio : Oh, right, Sir! I guess this is a lucky break but we got some new intel, right? Chisaki has a daughter!
Nighteye : A daughter?
Rex : He called her "Eri". Her arms and legs were wrapped in bandages...
Midoriya : I don't know anything about her, but she was asking for help... If there was any way we could protect her...
Nighteye : Don't think so arrogantly.
Midoriya : That's...
Nighteye : Haste makes waste. If you rush to chase after them, then they'll be more likely to escape. You're not so special that you can save anyone you want whenever you want. Currently, we are also requesting that other agencies team up with us.
Midoriya then looks down at the ground as he noticed that Rex wasn't even looking at any of them.
Nighteye : First, we must predict what our opponent will do and after analyzing it, arrange for the most complete preparations possible. This world isn't so lenient that you can save her with good intentions. The truly wise villains hide in the shadows. Know that sometimes, things will take time. The three of you should go back to the office today. Bubble, let's go.
After Nighteye gave his orders, he walks away with Bubble Girl following him leaving Mirio, Midoriya, and Rex. And so, the first day of Rex and Midoriya's work study ended leaving behind a heavy, unpleasant feeling.

It was the next day and Rex and Midoriya were back in school. For the whole day they weren't able to focus on any of their classes because of their pent up feelings which were getting worse with each passing second.
Midoriya who wasn't able to sit around any longer decided to go and talk to All Might but when he arrived at the teacher's lounge, Midnight told him that he was out jogging. Midoriya quickly left the teacher's lounge to go and find All Might, when he suddenly bumped into Rex.
He then explained to Rex that he wanted to talk to All Might about how Mirio was originally supposed to inherit One For All instead of him. Hearing this piqued Rex's interest as he decided to help Midoriya find All Might since it could distract him from what happened the other day.
Outside of U.A. High School, All Might was jogging while wearing a tracksuit when he suddenly heard a loud noise coming from behind him as he turned around to see what it was. Soon after, he sees Midoriya who was rushing over to him with his Full Cowling activated.
Midoriya : All Might!
All Might : Young Midoriya is here?!
Midoriya then stops in front of All Might and starts to pant heavily as he tries to catch his breath while Rex descends from the air and lands right next to him.
All Might : How did you know I was here?
Rex : Midoriya heard from Midnight you were jogging so we went around looking for you. That's when I spotted you from the air.
Midoriya : Did you know everything? That Nighteye knew about One For All, and that he wanted it to go to Togata? You knew, didn't you? Why didn't you tell me?
All Might turns his back to the two.
All Might : I wonder... if I needed to tell you...
Midoriya : Of course you did! All the new information coming at once, and getting rejected before I could make sense of it all...! More than that, I didn't understand your intentions! I don't understand why you're keeping it a secret, so I don't know how to feel! Why didn't you tell me? Not as your fan, but as your successor, I want to know everything!
Rex : Midoriya...
All Might : I didn't think knowing would do you any good. Do you really want to know?
Midoriya : It's better than having you continue to keep it a secret from me.
All Might : Don't regret this.
Midoriya : I won't.
All Might : Young Salazar, are you going to listen as well?
Rex : Might as well since I'm already here. One For All has something to do with me too since I know about it, don't you think?
All Might stays silent for a moment, but he starts to speak and tell Midoriya and Rex everything. He tells Midoriya and Rex that he and Nighteye worked together for about five years, but when All Might fought All For One and lost half of his stomach, that's when they're partnership ended.
He also told them that Nighteye used his Foresight on him and saw his future. Nighteye told him that if he continued being a hero and the Symbol Of Peace any further, he would face off against a villain and die an unspeakably gruesome death.
After that fight they parted ways and principal Nezu recommended All Might Mirio for becoming the next One For All successor, but before he met Mirio he ended up meeting Midoriya first.
All Might : I didn't want to tell you. Sorry.
After explaining everything to the two boys and apologizing to Midoriya, the former number one hero continues his jog leaving them both shocked.
Midoriya : All Might's... going to die... death... Die...
Midoriya finally snaps out of his train of thought and runs after All Might while Rex follows behind him.
Midoriya : Please, wait! Wait, All Might! How far into the future was Nighteye's Foresight?
All Might stops jogging and answers Midoriya but he doesn't turn around to him or Rex.
All Might : Six or seven years in the future, he said. Apparently, the further into the future, the less accurate the time, but what he sees with his Foresight has never changed.
Rex : Then... it'd be this year or next year...!
Midoriya : You're kidding, right? No... Why...? I don't want this, All Might. Live! Do you remember what you said at the sports festival? Our promise? I couldn't keep my promise! Please live until I can keep my promise! Stay alive and watch me tell the world, "I am here!" All Might!
Rex looks over at Midoriya and had no idea what to say and remains quiet while All Might puts his hands on his hips and speaks up.
All Might : Young Midoriya, you know, when I heard the prediction, I accepted it pretty readily. If I could see the finish line– the end– then I'd run until then.
Midoriya : That's...
All Might : When I fought All For One I thought that was the finish line. But you were there.
Midoriya's eyes, which were filled with tears, widened after hearing that news from All Might.
All Might : You– timid, Quirkless you– and all the days we spent together affected me. And those days whispered to me telling me to live. And then, your mother told me to live and protect and raise you! After all this time, I'm going to fight. You changed me! I will live!
All Might then clenches his fist and transforms into his muscle form and smiles at Midoriya.
All Might : I will twist fate and anything else into the shape I want with these arms!
All Might then reaches his muscle form's time limit before turning back into his normal state.
All Might : But after going through all this, I've reached this conclusion. In the end, it had turned out the way Nighteye said it would. That's why... I can't face him after all this time... I didn't want to become a shackle to you as you run to get stronger with everything you had... Well, it's possible that I've already twisted fate into the shape I wanted.
Midoriya : Not yet... We still can't tell if the prediction has changed... I don't want this All Might... I absolutely refuse it. I... No matter what happens to you, I will twist fate with you!
Rex : Count me in too. I'm not really sure what Midoriya would do if you weren't around anymore, but I do know that he wouldn't be able to beat me in a real fight. And I need you too. Make us both stronger so when the day comes, we can see who the true number one hero is.
All Might looks at the two boys and gives them both a smile.
All Might : I'll do my best not to cause you two trouble.
All Might turns around and starts to jog once again.
All Might : ( I have to reshape my fate. I have to watch over and teach him as well. )
Midoriya : Oh, wait.
All Might stops jogging and turns around to Midoriya to hear what he had to say.
Midoriya : You should have Nighteye use his Foresight on you again. Make up with him so we can see if the future's already been changed!
All Might : Wouldn't that be too convenient?
Midoriya : It's a matter of life and death! I'll try to bargain with him!
Rex : With what? You're All Might stuff? Even if you did, there's no way he would say yes... Let me do it. I have a higher chance of getting him to agree.
Midoriya : Oh, yeah! Let's go with that plan!
All Might : Wait, young men! Think about how Nighteye will feel!
