Chapter 1: The one and only, Summer Jones :)
Trey's POV
I was falling for my best friend Summer Jones. But of course I was, who wouldn't? It was weird, considering I just recently started liking Summer and we've been friends for over 10 years. Both of us being in year eleven this year makes us friends since year one. Ah, I remember those days of finger painting and pushing my friends off swings when I wanted a turn...Those were the days! I remember little snipets of our childhood together; spending our time in the cubby house we built, doing partner projects in school , we even went to the school social together. Looking back at those days I wondered why I never liked Summer in that way from the very beginning.
Back then I thought of Summer as a pain in the ass. I was always forced to have dinner with her family as mine and Summer's parents are close and being parents they want Summer and I to be the best of friends; eventually they got their way. I used to find Summer rather odd, with her random rantings, and her 'Facts of the day'... I guess though, I got used to it. I soon started to enjoy the company of Summer. Of course I like her company even more now since I've developed a crush on her. At least that's what I think it is...just a minor, temporary teenage crush.
I heard Mr. Tort go on and on about chemistry and how ever so important it is in our daily life. As I looked over at Summer, she smiled at me knowingly and let out a fake snore. Giving her a once over, I knew I liked her, I just couldn't begin to explain why. Summer and I have been best friends for years and only now do I truly realise how amazing she is. Just thinking about her makes me smile like an idiot. I see her doodling on her Chemistry book; a stickman being runover by a car. "Mr. Tort?" I mouth to her with a grin. I hear a low giggle in approval, man I loved it when she giggled, showing off her cute dimples.
But being the typical Summer, she always handed in her work on time, no matter how much she disses teachers and makes fun of them... deep down she really is the dream student. Never gone to a party before and is obsessed with uni hunting, practically screams out 'nerd' but she would instantly dislike anybody who called her one. Summer even said she was going to apply for Stanford, which in my opinion would be lucky to have her; with Summer's ongoing talents she would be accepted anywhere. She often played the piano and had a passion for the arts. Singing, dancing, acting she love's it all. I guess you could call her a theatre fanatic.
After chemistry I started to make my way to the cafeteria.
"Dude watch it!" I yelled as someone walked into me. Looking at the guy, he seemed pretty decent and I could tell he was new with the lost expression on his face and the school map in his hands.
"Sorry man, I gotta get to D3. Ya know where it is?"
"It's right in front of you." I reply. Turning around I walk to my next class, "The name's Chase!" I hear him yell out behind me. "Trey." I shout back in reply already walking away from him.
Sitting at our usual table I saw Chase walk in and he waved at me, I nod in his direction and turn my attention back to Summer. "Mr. Tort made me sleepy!' she whines unhappily as she lets out a yawn. "Tell me about it!" I agree with Summer automatically.
"Did you hear about Casey today? Apparently she was caught in the guys locker rooms in Session 2!" Summer stated excitedly."Wait I was in the locker rooms in Session 2!" Before I can go on I hear someone clear their throat and I look up to see Chase. "Hey um Trey, you mind if I sit with you guys?" I look at the random guys at our table and they all nodded their head in approval. "Yeah sure, umm Chase this is, Summer vice versa." I mumble.
Summer literally stops breathing, I actually thought she was having a heart attack, recovering from her little act she grins. "Hey, is your last name by any chance Crawford?" Summer winks. Where did this Summer come from? I heard them having a little conversation in the background but all I could think was Summer was flirting with CHASE! Since when did Summer even flirt?
Just like that I walked out of the cafeteria, without saying a word. I know I sound way too dramatic about the whole situation but Summer liked him! It was obvious, with the constant batting of eyelashes and the sweet, innocent voice that could have any guy in the school weak in the knees. The guy isn't even that hot...Is he? Wait what am I thinking? It's Summer for god's sake! She'll probably get over him, It's just a phase.
"Just a phase, just a phase..." I repeated to myself.
"What's just a phase?" asked Summer next to me. I jumped 2 feet in the air and let out a 'small' shriek. I heard Summer breaking down into fits of laughter, after calming herself down she said " You scream like a girl." and started laughing again. I stood for what seemed like forever, waiting as she reserved herself.
"Anyway, what's just a phase?"
" Uh...I..Um..Well..You see..I just..I..I have a g-gas problem" I stuttered, shit I did not just say that! She's never going to talk to me ever again! Summer once again broke down into fits of laughter "It's t-t-temporary!" I exclaimed, only to make her laugh even louder. What? I've been getting extremely nervous around her recently, and I had to say something."You..Have a gas problem!" says Summer, squealing in between her laughter. "Dude couldn't you have told me this before!" said Chase from behind me, oh crap now he knows... "It's a phase!" I yell, trying to block Summer's laughter out was hard enough, but now a whole crowd was forming around us.
"Guys back away, for all we know he might blow any second now!" said Chase in all seriousness. This made the crowd back away and even some ran for the exit, "There goes my reputation in this school..." I mutter under my breath. Summer was now calming down and instead started giggling, it was better than the howls of laughter from before, she sounded like a stoned hyena. I frowned when I saw camera flashes going off, "Dont worry Trey, the word will spread world wide and soon we'll be famous. Oh my god I can just imagine us on the front cover of the times."Breaking news: Teenage boy has released toxic gas, thus suffocating his fellow school mates and friends!" cried Summer as her eyes danced with excitement.
"Hey don't forget me! I can be your personal bodyguard. Seriously for all we know you could kill us with your oh so mighty gas!" exclaimed Chase, before both of them broke down in laughter... Again.
"I have to say It has been a pleasant day. Wouldn't you agree Sir Chase?" said Summer in her best attempt at a british accent. "I'm afraid it has, Madam Summer." replied Chase in the same accent. Jeez they just won't let it go! "He's gonna blow!", "Oh crap run, stay away from him!" , "He's a freakin' fart bomb!" was basically all I heard as we exited the school. I can't believe I did that, all to cover up how I felt about Summer. The things I'd do for that girl. Once Chase left us, I walked Summer home as usual.
" Summer listen..."
"Yeah what?" replied Summer spinning around to face me. I looked down at my feet and looked back up at her "I like you..." I said, carefully choosing my words. She looked a bit confused but quickly flashed me her cheeky grin and said "I know, and I like you too my little fart bomb!" Summer giggles as she playfully pinches my cheeks, leaving me at her doorstep speechless.
I sat down on her doorsteps, dumbstruck. I felt somewhat relieved that I that off my chest. But she didn't take it the way she was supposed to. Maybe she was still thinking about Chase. I had to get to her before he does.
"Game on Chase, Game on..." I whispered to myself.
"Hey Trey, here thought you might need it!" Summer chucked a box at me, I swiftly caught it in the air and examined it. "De-Gas?" I looked at her, she erupted in fits of laughter and replied "Thought it might come in handy! Oh and, you might want to leave now cause moms making meatloaf, and if she catches you, she will invite you in. You and I both know that we don't wanna go through that again." Summer said from behind me as she mimicked a throwing up gesture with a cheeky grin. "Okay, I'm going! Tell your mum i'm sorry I couldn't stay for dinner and to save me some." I winked at her then set off down the street.
On my way home I started to recall the embarassing time my family and I were over at Summer's house and her mum served us meatloaf. Let's just say Mrs. Jones' meatloaf doesn't agree with me nor my stomach. I ended up sprawled over their toilet floor spewing my guts out. I had apologised to Mrs. Jones, who looked like she might cry any second. Soon after, we left in a hurry and apologised numerous times on the way out. Since that day I've been avoiding meatloaf Mondays. For the sake of both our family, not having to go through the embarassment again.
I chuckled at the odd memory and looked at the box in my hand, "The things I do for you Summer Jones..." I said as I swiftly chucked the De-Gas box into a bush near by. It was time to put my plan to win Summer over into action. Chase wasn't going to ruin this for me. I clenched my jaw in envy as I recalled Chase and Summer giggling and laughing during lunch.
I broke into a sprint back home, I started to relax as I felt the adrenaline pump through me. Pushing harder and faster each step of the way I reached home in minutes.

Hey!! So um, this is our first book together. We started this a long, long time ago. And we decided to post it, and see how it goes. There's two of us writing this book and we made a new account so we could all access it and upload on it.
