Thanatophobia is a fear of death. And Freddy has it baD. How he even came to get it, well .. it was most likely when he lost Fredbear. Being introduced to the idea that way had made him petrified of even the mere thought of it. It had made him even wary of the idea of injury, simply due to the fact that would only make death come all the more easily.

Only being forced to halt at that, he was only allowed the time to tense at actually getting the intentions of that, before he could feel that sharpened object sever the remains of his neck-joint; a sharp snap was the only implications it had broken. He couldn't even get the time to fully sense a harsh pinch within that part before all and every signal to and from his head was cut.
Apparently, that fight-or-flight had another option. Freeze. That was all that man needed, there.
He could only process a purely petrified sense at knowing he'd failed to react correctly ...
