The pure joy on my dad's face was priceless. Just seeing his eyes light up as I told him just made me feel so happy about myself.
"Aw, I'm so proud of you, snowball!" he exclaimed, yanking me into a tight hug.
"Woah, Dad, careful! I don't want you hurting yourself!" I cried, noticing him wincing as he pulled me closer.
"Hurting myself isn't gonna stop me from hugging my daughter!" Dad laughed.

When he finally let go of me, Dad laid back and asked, "So, when's the wedding?"
"Slow down there, Dad!" I answered. "It's just us performing together, it's not like I've asked her out!"
"Well, how about you ask her on a date in disguise?" he suggested.
"A what now?" I retorted, raising an eyebrow.
"You ask her out somewhere, but say it's for a different reason." Dad explained. "A few days after I met your ma, I asked her to come over to my house to study for an upcoming exam. We did a lot more than studying that night, if you get what I mean!"

"Hahaha, Dad, TMI!" I chuckled. To be fair, while Dad's example was a bit vulgar, that would probably work.
"Do you have her phone number?" Dad asked.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket. Kris gave her my number for homework help, but I'd been too nervous to talk to her for non-school reasons.
"Here goes nothing." I whispered as I started typing out a text.

Hi Susie, it's Noelle. Just wondering if you'd like to meet up at QC's tomorrow at 1:00pm to discuss what song to choose and maybe hang out for a bit. x

"Nice work." Dad remarked.
"Do you think the kiss is too much?" I asked, hovering over the send button.
"Nah, it's subtle. It'll never cross her mind." he reassured me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
I smiled, and pressed the send button.
"Well, the ball's in her court now." I sighed, leaning back in my chair. "Let's just see if she responds."
"Hey, shouldn't you be doing your homework, kiddo?" Dad mentioned. "Don't get me wrong, I love you here, but your mom's gonna get real antsy if you're not doing your chemistry or whatever."

Oh my gosh. How could I forget my homework? I'd gotten so sidetracked, I'd completely forgotten about it.
"Oh gosh, you're right!" I exclaimed as I stuffed my phone into my pocket. "I'll see you tomorrow, Dad, we should be able to finish Dragon Blazers tomorrow!"
"Heck yeah, I've been wanting to finish it for ages now!" Dad called as I sprinted out the door. "See ya tomorrow, pud."

At 7:30, I completed the trigonometry homework Miss Alphys set, my Christmas Lofi mix playing through my headphones and half a cup of noodles on my desk. Mom still wasn't home from work - must have been some important business at Town Hall. I ate another bite of noodles and opened my phone to see what texts I had received while studying. Berdly asking for help - standard. Kris sent me videos of screaming goats - that's to be expected. However, one text stood out to me. It was only one letter, but it filled me with pure delight.
