"Fwaaah!"
The day's just started and I already feel tired.
I thought learning 「Mana Sense」 would make it easier to learn about mana and magic by extension.
But all I can tell right now is that I have mana and can feel where it circulates and gathers in my body.
Its not much but I guess it's a start.
"Alright you two." Ennith growls out to us. "Let's head down. Knowing Farris he's woken up and is fuming about me leaving the cave again."
Again?
You mean you do this more than once?-whoa!
Ennith grabs me in one of her claws and begins to flap her wings.
I watch as the sun's light reflect of her wings showing an odd refraction of color of them with each flap.
She'd then take off and fly the three of us down to the caves entrance.
It was a short little trip through the air, but it felt nice.
Sun on my face, wind rushing through my fur.
Aaaagh!
I really want to fly!
Once Mari and I are set down, I start walking inside the cave to see what my siblings are up to.
Baelvari and Durianite are up already.
No surprise.
Those two always seem to be first up.
Its is surprising to see Palpitaya up though.
Normally she wakes up later.
“Felsaneo!.” she called out to me.
“Hey Pitay-oof!”
She pounced on me.
“Where were you? What’s going on? Are you hurt?”
Her questions came one after the other.
“I was fine up until you pounced on me.” I growl out with a small groan. “Please get off me.”
I hear Ennith chuckle off to the side as Pitaya climbs off me.
“You two are as close as ever.” She growls softly.
“Yeah.” I growl back. “Ennith was helping me learn magic.”
“Magic?”
I heard a fourth voice in this.
Yangmeilan was now among us, also known previously as Little Sis #6.
“Yeah, but I didn’t learn anything much.”
Better nip this one in the bud.
“Did you see any magic?” Yangmeilan asks.
“No”
“No?” She asks leaning in closer to me.
I place my claw on her face and push her back.
“No. I didn’t” I growl out. “Actually, I was hoping we could go hunting soon.”
“Good idea." Ennith chimes in "While you're at it take this girl with you."
Mari was pushed forward by Ennith's tail.
"I'm sure she'll teach you all some interesting things."
Interesting things huh?
I'll be the judge of that!
Joking aside, I'm not against the idea.
"Okay." I say simply. "We'll have to think of a way to hunt in a group though."
"I'll leave that up to you children." Ennith says strolling along past all us.
Always at her own pace.
Once everyone was up and awake we had a small discussion about how we should group ourselves.
"Should we go in groups of three like before?" I ask.
"Actually, we've been going in groups of two with some of us." Baelvari says "We've found it easier now that we all can breath out fire."
"Shilongan also helped with carrying the food back." Relitiesia adds.
Ooh.
Seems like the little chef couldn't help but want to get his hands on the ingredients first.
Well, if he can make tasty food like before I won't complain.
"Everyone was getting stronger while I was gone huh?" I ask.
"Yeah." Palpitaya chimes in. "We were all training to fight those shiny humans and save you like you did for us."
"It was the least we could do after all that you did." Baelvari adds.
I scratch my check with a claw.
“Well, if that’s the case, We’ll go with that plan. As for Mari…”
I look up at Mari.
“I think I’ll team up with her and someone else.”
This gets a reaction out of my siblings.
"No way!"
"That's dangerous!"
"Can she even hunt?"
"I don't like it!"
"Bad!"
I sigh.
"She has to go with someone. Ennith told us to take her with us."
"It doesn't have to be you."
"Yeah it could be someone else."
"Then, does anyone else want her in their group?" I ask.
The group falls silent as they look away and at each other.
I thought as much.
After seeing the knights attack us and hearing that I was carried off, it would be strange if they weren't so weary of humans.
"Then I'll team up with Mari and someone else--"
"Let me join."
Ah right.
There's another person here who's used to be around humans.
"Alright then. It will be Mari, Shilongan, and I in one group." I say with a nod.
“As for everyone else-”
“I’m with Baelvari!” Xayuzula quickly says moving to said beings side.
“Big Sister. You wanna team up with me?” Zelfaijoas.
“If we must.” Relitiesia agrees.
“Sister Sister! Let’s hunt together!” Yangmeilan asks eagerly.
“If everyone agrees.” Palpitaya looks over at us but doesn’t say anything more.
“I guess we’re teamed up again Big Brother.” Resalaki states plainly.
“Yeah.” Durianite replied.
Seems like everyone has their preferred groups.
“Alright. Is everyone ready?”
My question is replied with small, roar-like cheers.
Aaah, so cute.
“Okay! Let's head off!”
“Wait! A moment!” Mari starts. “I’ve never done anything like this before.”
“Don’t worry. We’ll help you out.” Shilongan says. “The monsters around her can be pretty tough, but we can take them on easily.”
“What kind of monsters show up here?” She asks.
“Mainly vulrenas and sidursears.” He says. “You can find hyphinos in the lake sometimes as well.”
“Huh!? Those are B-rank monsters you just named, and sidursears are A-rank.”
B-rank and A-rank.
Guess we’ve been hunting some pretty strong things here.
Well, don’t care about that.
“Come on, lets go get some food already.” I growl out.
“Right! I wanna find more wild plants to use.” Shilongan say
“As long as it's not like that one sour thing from before.” I shudder from the memory of it.
“Ha ha ha, just don’t stuff your mouth so fast." He laughs out.
"Um Excuse me." Mari cuts in. "I'm not sure what you two are expecting from me, but you shouldn't expect much."
What's she going on about now?
"My magic, it isn't that strong. Not enough to challenge A Rank monsters. Not to mention I don't have any weapons to use. The most that will happen is I slow you two down."
I look over at Shilongan. "Well? What do you think?"
"It is hard for a human to fight without a weapon. If we had a core at the very least she could use source magic to fight with."
Source magic?
"What's that? Source magic I mean." I ask.
"Ah, its a type of magic that uses a beings material or a monsters core to help create magic." Shilongan says. "Mainly the fur or scales of a being, maybe their claws or fangs in some cases. It could even be something like their tears or venom."
That's gross.
"Then. What would one of those foxes need?" I ask.
"Hmm. " Shilongan hums to himself thinking. "I dont know, I wasn't a mage, just a humble chef. But its probably their fur."
"Fur. Okay then." I nod.

The fur appears infront of Mari's face and she quickly catches it.
"Here. Will this work?" I ask her.
Mari feels the fur in her hand and lights up. "Th-this is more than enough." She replies.
"Good now, let's find something to eat already."
With my last declaration I start tracking.
It only took a short while before Shilongan found some tracks.
"Felsaneo. Mari. This way."
I turn and follow him with Mari bundling up the fox fur behind us.
Soon Shilongan lead us to our target.

It was a singular fox, er vulrena.
"Just one?" I whisper.
"Seems so." Shilongan replied. "Should we hunt it down?"
I hum looking at the fox before us.

It looks different than the other ones we've faced.
This one's coloring is more orange than the red ones we've seen.
"Yeah. This one's giving me a weird feeling though." I say. "I'll get a surprise attack on it first. If it's still standing after my first attack, you two burn it with your fire."
"Okay." Shilongan nods.
"R-right" Mari nods.
I take a deep breath before slowly trying to sneak up on the orange fox.
Just go slowly.

Now!
「Small Bite」
I pounce and bite down on it.
There was little resistance as I ended up on it, and the bite was nearly a fatal wound in one attack.
One more 「Scratch」 at its chest with my claws was all that was needed to take it down.
Well.
That was anticlimactic.
It felt much easier to defeat than normal.
Could these one's be weaker than the others I wonder?

It was too fast to retaliate as I'm suddenly on fire.

I roll around on the ground trying to put out the flames on me, but several more flames start falling onto me as I try putting them out.
"Graaaaah!" I roar out.
These flames.
Why do they hurt so much?

I blast the ground and create a wall of wind around me while also blowing away the flames on me.
Fwah, finally they're out.

I spot several icons pop up around me as red dots.
Nine red dots.

Another breath I fired guided by wind control made its attack towards two of the dots' relative spots.

My breath circled my targets and aimed upward so I could see them.

I with a sudden swing down, my breath circles around and slammed them into the ground.
With a strong thud.
I look around to see if any other of those foxes would make their move.
As I did however, two more of the white foxes came running out towards me.
I took a deep breath, preparing to fire a new dragon breath.
A giant fireball and fire stream shot out past me and sent the two running foxes flying backwards.
"Bro…ther!" Shilongan growled moving up to my side.
I shift accelerated thinking off.
"Are you okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, they just surprised me.
"Those Yokinars are A Rank monsters." Mari says moving to our side. They won't go down with just one hit. We should leave."
"Not happening." I growl out.
We lost our chance to run the second they all gathered in this area.
I focused around while trying to track down the other foxes.
The smell of the foxes grew stronger.
While with slightly different scents, I could tell more foxes were joining in.
