Delilah and Maggie were waiting by the court with Maggie's parents as they waited for Aliyah and her friend to change so that they could leave and go home. As mean as it sounds, Delilah was ready to get out of that stadium. One, she had either been at the airport or on a plane all day so she was a bit cranky, Two, she didn't really want to run into Paige.

But of course it was like the devil read the thoughts circulating her brain because our walked Paige and Aliyah.

Wait.

No.

Please no.

If Paige and Aliyah were walking out together with no one behind them then that means...No. Paige was the other friend coming on the ski trip.

Aliyah smiled at all of her family. Paige got pulled into a hug by both of the Edwards parents, much like Delilah had at the airport. Then she dabbed up Maggie who had just gotten out of a hug from her sister who had moved to hug Delilah.

Paige's eyes awkwardly darted around the court, not knowing how to approach Delilah. She knew she couldn't just pretend she wasn't there. But luckily the blonde basketball players thoughts were cut short by being embraced by the volleyball player.

Both girls held onto the moment as it happened. Paige wrapped her arms around the small of Delilah's back. While Delilah hugged her with her arms around Paige's neck, her head on her shoulder. Delilah had even shut her eyes into the hug. Then realized what she was doing. Not that hugging was bad, it was just who she was hugging.

Delilah was the one to pull away. Paige stepped back awkwardly. Luckily the awkward silence wasn't there for long because Maggie practically dragged her out of the gym and back to the car that they had drove here in.

Paige and Aliyah followed behind the two other freshman. Aliyah watching in amusement as her sister dragged her friend around to find the car. Paige on the other hand wasn't really staring at the moment but more Maggie's hand that was clutched around Delilah's.

Not that Delilah and Maggie were in any way romantically significant to each other but in Paige's eyes every subtle touch was a sign of Delilah being in love with her best friend. Because that's what she was those few months ago, and all the years before that. In love with her best friend.

"Which one do you think looks better?" Delilah asked as her and Paige sat in the Fro Yo shop break room. Honestly she wasn't even sure why she was still working there, she was leaving in like two weeks for collage.

Paige looked up from her phone, pointing at the second graduation dress Delilah had showed her through the screenshots on her phone.

Delilah smiled, hearting the image in her phone, already planning on buying that one. It was the same one that Abigail and Drew had already picked.

"So this Saturday for movie night I was thinking we could watch pitch perfect." Delilah nudged Paige's shoulder excitedly while she sat on her phone. Paige looked up smiling subtly before frowning and throwing her head back groaning.

"I forgot to tell you, I can't do movie night this weekend." Delilah sat her phone down in shock. "Wait why?"

"I kinda made plans with a friend for Saturday."

Delilah frowned. She fidgeted with the bracelet on her wrist. A thin silver one that Abigail had gotten her for her birthday last year. It had a pink heart in the middle and Delilah never took it off.

"Oh, who?" She asked subtly, trying not to seem like she cared too much while intently examining the wall to the side of them both. It was brightly colored in bright pink with green stripes.

"Just one of the girls on the basketball team." Paige kept her eyes on her phone, still distracted.  "Amaya? Maya?" Delilah really didn't want to pry but if whoever this person was, was someone Paige wanted to hang out with more then Delilah herself she wanted to know who it was.

"Claire actually." Paige answered. Delilah furrowed her eyebrows at the name. Sure, she knew Claire Julius. But she didn't know her and Paige were that close. She didn't even know the two talked.

Claire was a junior at Hopkins. The only reason Delilah had even known her was because she had actually dated Abigail's sister, who was also a junior.

"Oh, I didn't know you guys were friends." Paige shrugged. "We're not, I mean not really. She just asked me if I wanted to hang out Saturday night and I said yes." Paige explained but didn't make Delilah feel any better.

"I should probably get back to work." Paige not really taking Delilah's excuse to leave as a sign she was upset. I mean why would she be?

Delilah asked herself that same question as she wandered around the toppings area in front of the register. I mean she had no reason to be mad. Unless it was because she was mad about Paige canceling their movie night. But deep down she knew that if it was anyone else in the world she wouldn't care.

Maybe it was because she knew Claire was gay? But why would that matter? Delilah wasn't homophobic so it's not like she didn't want Paige to hang out with a gay girl. Maybe it was because she didn't Paige to hang out with another gay girl and like her more then she liked Delilah.

Ugh, feelings were really confusing. Wait. No. Not feelings like romantic feelings. Emotions, she meant emotions. Delilah did not have any sort of romantic feelings for Paige Bueckers. Never ever ever.

Paige watched as Delilah tried to avoid eye contact with herself on the ride back to the Edwards house. But yet their eyes kept meeting making Delilah almost flinch and look away quickly.

"So, Delilah are you excited for your first NCAA tournament after the break? I know Maggie is." Mister Edwards asked the uncomfortable girl in the leathered back seat.

"Yeah actually, I thought i'd be like super mega nervous but i'm actually more excited I think. I'm sure the nerves will come back as soon as the first round but might as well cherish the excitement while it lasts." Delilah laughed sharply.

"Is your family coming? I'm sure they're as  proud of you as we are of Mags." Mrs Edwards asked, making Delilah wince slightly pausing before responding.

Paige noticed her old best friends nervous r tendencies and had to stop herself from reaching out to hold her hand like she would when they were younger. Or two months ago.

"Oh uh no." She paused awkwardly. "But my friend from back homes coming and i'm super excited to see her." Delilah mentioned, trying to lighten the mood and change the subject before anyone could ask her any more questions.

"Who?" Curiosity got the best of Paige. She immediately regretted even opening her mouth when Delilah visibly flinched at the very sound of her voice.

"Oh Um, Abigail." Paige nodded. "I think my brother and dad are going too." She said slightly laughing, making Delilah smile. "Drew always talks about you when he calls me. Never fails to mention how he just got off the phone with you before calling me. Like he's trying to make me jealous or something." Paige continued.

Delilah breathed out a laugh as the car stopped. Maggie helped Delilah get her bag out of the back of the mini van and Delilah carried it up to the room Maggie brought her up to.

It was late and everyone had already eaten so every one kind of went their separate ways as the entered their house. After showing Delilah where she was going to stay for the night before they left for the ski trip, Maggie left her friend for her own room to sleep, leaving Delilah to change into her pajamas and wash her face.

She was just getting into the velvet sheeted bed when there was a knock at her door. She knew it wasn't Maggie because Maggie would have just barged in like she did in Delilah's own dorm room back at campus. Delilah sat up from her resting spot in the bed before calling out quietly to the person behind the door a short, "come in."

She watched the door creep in and her heart slightly sped up as the knocker revealed themselves.

Or rather, herself.

Paige stood awkwardly in the doorway, not really expecting Delilah to be awake. The girl was like always asleep.

"Hey, uh can we talk?"

A/n I haven't decided yet but maybe two chapters tonight? idk. Js cuz i didn't post yesterday though. Thank you for reading!!! I like just figured out how I wanted their friendship to end so we might be seeing that flashback very soon.
