The year is 199X. I live in Onett, a small town in Eagleland. Not much happens here, but I love my hometown. 'Cause that's where my life starts to change.
I had this really weird dream where I was with some people and I was being attacked by something. I wasn't sure what it was, but I tried ignoring it. I checked the time. "It's 11:52," I said. "Almost midnight. I should go back to sleep..." And, just like that, I slept. I kinda heard something whooshing down from the sky.
KABOOM!!
"WOAH!!!" I exclaimed. That loud boom just woke me up in an instant. I checked the time and it was 12:09! I didn't even get that much sleep! But, I was curious to check out what just crash landed here. I'm sure it could've been a meteor. The impact was loud.
I went outside my room and turned on the lights from the house. I went to check on my little sis, Tracy. "Hey, Trace! You okay?" I asked. I heard a lot of police sirens from outside and it might look like something REALLY big might be up. "Hey, bro. Did the sound wake you up?" said Tracy. "Of course, it did. It must've woken up the whole town of Onett!" I said. I tried looking out the window to see where the cops are going. Tracy asked, "Were you freaked out?" I didn't even know what to respond. "Not really..." that's all I said. I found a present near her bed. It said it was for me. I opened it up and it was a cracked bat. "Thanks, Tracey!" I said. I left her room and went downstairs to the living where I found my mom wide awake. My dog, King, however, was still fast asleep.
"What was that noise?" my mom said. "Ness, you don't seem scared. Are you nuts?" My mom was worried about the meteor. "Why would I be scared? I just wanna check it out." I said. My mom exclaimed saying, "And now you want to go check it out?" I nodded my head to show that I was serious. "...Oh ...okay." my mom said. "You'll sneak out of your room anyway, even if I asked you not to." My mom knew how much I wanted to see that meteor. When I saw that meteor, it was glowing. I walked to my front door, but my mom stopped me. "At least change out of your jammies before you go." Yeah, I should've expected that I needed to.
I went upstairs to change and down back to get to my front door. "Be careful! Come home as soon as you can." said my mom. I promised her that I'd come back safely. I went to my dog and I can somehow read his thoughts. "Besides humans, dogs also sleep at night. Why aren't you asleep?" he thought. King sure is a strange dog. As soon as I walked of my house, everyone one was awake and the police were swarming all over the crash site. Man, I could hear everyone yammering about what's going on. The meteor looked like it crashed from up a huge hill. I was climbing up and a few cops were walking around the place to see if there is some more stuff that the meteor left off. You know what noticed? Lier X. Agerate lives near that meteor. And, I can't believe I did it, I went to visit his house.
"Hey Ness, hiya buddy!" said Mr. Agerate. Oh, boy. I knew this would be coming. "A meteorite fell down and went boom! It was a real mess for a while." he said. I could already notice that meteor by now. "I was fine because I always eat garlic and work out to help make my body stronger." he said. Garlic? Seriously? And he barely even works out. "However, the weaker citizens probably fainted." he said. And I'm kinda surprised he didn't. "I also want to tell you...whoops! I almost told you about my..." he stopped there. What's he hiding? "Uh, by the way Ness, did you check out my billboard? I wrote the message myself. That's my real job, you know...I'm a billboard guy. Why don't you check out my work?" he asked. I checked oh his billboard and it said, "Treasure Hunter! This is Lier X. Agerate's house!"
I finally left Mr. Agerate's house and I went along with my discovery. I was so close to see that meteor, but it was barricaded by the police. I also saw someone else who looked very familiar. I knew it. Pokey Minch, my next-door neighbor. He knew I wanted to see that meteor, but he walked up to me. "Hey, Ness," he said, "Don't be rubberneckin'. You're gettin' in the cops, oops..." He stopped and the police gave a mean look at him. "I mean officer's way!" Heh, and to think he was trying to be loyal to the police. "You can go home now." said Pokey. "Tomorrow I, Pokey, will tell you more about the strange meteorite." Geez, he's rude as always. I was expecting it. "What about you? Shouldn't you be getting home?" I asked. "I'm fine here, but quit bugging the officers!" I sighed and I immediately went home. My mom was at the front door waiting for me. "Welcome home, Ness. It's not necessary to talk about it tonight." she said. "It's late, you should scoot off to bed now." So, I changed back to my jammies and I went back to sleep.
Later that night, I woke up and there was someone continuously knocking the front door. I checked the time and it was 4:09. At least I got some sleep. I went outside my room and so did Tracy. "Someone's knocking at the door. What an annoying knock!" said Tracy. I went downstairs to see who was at the front door. As soon as I turned the doorknob, Pokey busted the door open. "Hey! L-L-Listen to what I've got to say!" said Pokey. I had to pay attention to Pokey this time. "When I took Picky to the place where the meteorite landed..." said Pokey. Man, was he in a rush! Then, he saw my mom. "Oh! Good evening, ma'am. You're looking lovely as usual." he said and he started snickering. My mom made a mean look and she looked away. "Anyway, as I was saying," Pokey continued, "the police that were guarding the meteorite landing left suddenly to deal with the Sharks. You know the Sharks, they're the local ruffians, and they were going wild. Suddenly, I noticed that Picky was gone. I blame the cops...it certainly wasn't my fault at all." he said. Geez, Pokey needs to take better care of his little brother.
"When my dad gets back, I know I'm gonna get it..." he said feeling concerned. "You're my bestest friend. Won't YOU help me find Picky?" he said. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go or not. But, with police gone, we can go see that meteor! "Yeah, sure." I said. Pokey said, "Ok, good buddy! Let's blow this popsicle stand!" I was ready to go see that meteor. "Before we go," said Pokey, "why don't you say 'goodbye' to your mom. Don't you agree, ma'am?" I went up to my mom. "I know that the dog is unreliable, but you should take King along. The cracked bat in Tracy's room could help out at a time like this..." she said, "No matter what anyone says, you're a courageous, strong boy." My mom really cared about me when I'm on my way to have my own adventure. "You're my very own natural born fighter...You'll go far...Remember to "Go for it!" I really appreciated my mom's encouragement and I was about to walk out the door. "But, I think you should change out of your jammies before you leave." my mom said. Yet again, I should've noticed that.
As I went downstairs all fully clothed, Tracy went up to me with a cookie in her hand. "I'll do everything I can to help you! Good luck on your adventure." she said. "You might get hungry along the way, so here's a cookie." So, that cookie was for me and I took it and thanked my sis. Then, I went up to King and I could still read his mind. He knew he needed to go with me and Pokey. "I guess I have no choice. Let's go." So, he got up and followed. Pokey was ready to join me as well. "Alright! You go out in front, and I'll follow at a safe distance. Let's get going!" said Pokey. As I walked to the front door, the phone was ringing. I picked it up to see who it was. It was my dad.
"Hello, it's your dad." he answered. "'Work to exhaustion when you're young...' Ever heard of a weird saying like this? Just remember, I'm always behind you 100%. Don't be afraid. I know that you're brave. You can do it." At least I got some encouragement from my dad. It's been LONG since I've seen him. "Don't forget to call me periodically during you're adventure." he continued. "I can make a record of your progress when you call me. Oh yeah, I deposited $30 into your bank account. Do you have your ATM card?" he asked. I took my card out and said, "Yeah." My dad continued, "Withdraw your money from any cash machine and buy whatever you need. Good luck, m'boy! I feel like such a hero! What? Well, the father of a hero, at least." He started laughing and he hung up the phone by slamming it. That's just weird. Anyways, I said "goodbye" to my mom and went outside the front door.
The hill sure seems kinda scary when there aren't any people around. Especially, the police. We were kinda close to where the meteor fell, but our luck just changed. You can't have an adventure without danger. Crows were ambushing us! I tried fighting back by bashing them, King joined the fight, and Pokey....was being a baby. They were attacking him. I took out my cracked bat and I was ready to swing it at them. SMAAAASH! I whacked a crow sky high and then rest of the flock flew off. "Thanks, Ness!" said Pokey. "Let's just keep finding Picky." I realized some new PSI moves. PSI Lifeup α and PSI Hypnosis α. So, that's why I can read King's mind! My PSI! I'm psychic! We went on our journey and saw Lier X. Agerate's house again.
He called me out. "Hey, Ness!" I walked up to him. "I was too busy to investigate, but I heard a child's voice on the hilltop. I'm a busy man, but when I do a job, I do it well. I'm a man's man." He must be talking about Picky! We rushed to hilltop and went over the barricaded path. But, when we got closer to the meteor, King howled. "If I knew this was going to be such scary place," he thought, "I wouldn't have come along...I'm outta here!" King then ran off back home.
Near the meteor, there was a tree with a little kid humming. It was Picky! "Wha-! Oh! You woke me up..." said Picky. "Pokey! I've been looking all over for you..." Picky turned to me. "You see, Pokey got scared and ran away..." said Picky. Pokey turned around feeling embarrassed. "Well, I'm glad you're okay at least." said Picky. "Let's go home now. I bet mom and dad are worried sick about us." said Pokey. "Geez! Sometimes I wonder which one of us is the real big brother." said Picky. Picky, Pokey, and I went home, but I heard something buzzing around that meteor.
"Ness!" said Pokey. "Do you hear a buzzing that sounds like a bee flying around?" he asked. Picky can hear it, too. "Yeah! Maybe it's from that meteor." I said. We slowly walked up and the meteor opened and gave off a light that it went up to the sky like a beacon. Some bug came out of that meteor. It finally spoke. "A bee I am.....not." he said. "I am from 10 years in the future. And, in the future, all is devastation..." Devastation?! What's gonna happen? I wanted to know more from the flying bug.
"Giygas, the universal cosmic destroyer, sent all the horror of eternal darkness...... However, you must listen! Where I am from, there is a well-known legend that has been handed down from ancient times." A legend from ancient times? This should be good. He continued, "It says 'When the chosen boy reaches the point, he will find the light. The passing of time will shatter the nightmare rock and will reveal the path of light.' You see, it is my opinion that you are that boy, Ness." Me...? How am I supposed to stop this "Giygas"? What's a "Giygas" anyways? He continued, "This I believe.....Giygas' monstrous plan is set in motion somewhere on Earth. If you start to confront the enemy immediately, you may have time to counter the evil intentions of Giygas." Giygas....I'm starting to think that name sounds familiar. "Three things are of the utmost importance:" he said, "Wisdom, courage, and friendship. The legends from the ancient times tell of three boys and a girl who defeat Giygas. I will tell you more later. Go now! And do not be anxious about the future. You have much work to do, Ness." said the bug.
"Thank you for listening to my long story." he said. " You are as exceptional as I expected you to be..." Pokey was getting nervous, too. "Ness!" said Pokey. "It looks like you're in a lot of trouble this time." I think I know that now. I'm already worried about the future and Giygas already! But, I shouldn't be. The bug started following us now. "What's you're name, Mr. Bug thing?" asked Picky. The bug turned to us and said, "Buzz Buzz...you may call me that." Pokey said to me, "Three boys, he said? ...Uhhh..." Pokey felt unsure about that legend. "I'm not one of those three, am I?...'Cause...I'm not into this kind of things at all...Geez. My heart is pounding right out of my chest!..." Pokey being the hero? I don't really know about that.
We were finally heading to Pokey and Picky's house, but something in front of us teleported from the sky and stopped us. "It's been a long time, Buzz Buzz. You've been successful at foiling Master Giygas's plans."
