It was a strange feeling, to have your future mapped out for you. Since leaving Japan, to attend a basketball-centered school, everything went as Kagami expected to go. The opponents were stronger and the practices were intense. Although the academics in America are not as intense compared to other countries, it didn't change the fact Kagami was still a C-average student.
Outside of school, there wasn't much to say. He had friends, schoolmates, and teammates to hang out with when the invitation was offered. They always ask why he doesn't date since there were a few girls who looked in his direction. His response was always...
"My girl told me that I'm not allowed to date anyone that's not prettier than her."
And it was partially true. The real rule Aliyah gave him was that she can't be ugly, bitchy, and poor or there will be problems. Aliyah Kure always wants the best for her lovers even if it's not with her. However, finding such a girl that's not all 3 is a task in itself so that's why he never bothered.
His teammates never believed that he had a girlfriend much less a rich girlfriend since he never shown them a picture. She also never came here to the States to see him. The only clue they had was that she sent him chocolates on Valentine's Day and shoes for his birthday. Even then, they thought he bought all that stuff and had them delivered to the school.
It was prom season and the team practically demanded that he bring a date for the sake of the team's image. It would be odd for a star play to go to such a milestone event alone. Kagami was reluctant to comply.
That is why he is currently standing in front of the entrance to a banquet hall in a jet-black tux and champagne gold bowtie. He had one hand in his pocket while the other held a gold and ivory corsage. The music and chatter can be heard on the other side of these grand wooden doors. He knew she was going to be a little late...but that was 40 minutes ago!
He was so focused on waiting that he didn't sense his teammates approaching him from behind. "Taiga come on, you can drop the act!"
"Yeah, you standing outside waiting for an imaginary girl for 40 minutes is weird as hell man." One of the players said as they dragged him inside. "The team is already about to take pictures. We got someone to fill in so you don't look like a loner."
"Huh?! Wait, I can't just leave. She's gonna cuss me out!" Kagami protest. It was too late, he was already standing next to a random blonde that he didn't even know was in his class. In every picture the team took, Kagami was stiff and kept his distance. However, it didn't stop his heart from falling to his stomach when he heard a voice over all of the music.
"What the hell, Taiga!" The boy's basketball team as well as their prom dates turned to see a young lady in a champagne-gold mermaid-style dress with a stream of gems swirling along the curves of her body. Her braided hair was pinned up with a rhinestone floral pin. Even the shimmering makeup couldn't hide the rage behind those fiery brown eyes. "I sat on a 10-hour flight and 3 hours of traffic only to see you found another date," Aliyah said as she made her way over. The students quickly got out of her way and made a clear path to Kagami.
"A-Aliyah it's not what you think!" Kagami said as he quickly went into his pockets to find the corsage. "I was waiting outside for like 40 minutes-"
"But then you got tired and decided to spend your evening with a Margot Robbie knockoff wearing a Marilyn Monroe dress from Shein?" Aliyah said as she gestured to the girl behind him. "Seriously you could have at least chosen a girl that can at least afford a realistic replica."
"And you could have at least called me and told me you were stuck in traffic. I was freezing my ass off outside!" Kagami argued back.
"I hope your dick fell off too while you were waiting!" It was a good thing the couple was having their argument in Japanese because their volume alone was already causing a scene.
"Huh looks like he wasn't lying after all." A teammate said as he watched the couple go back and forth.
"Was anyone else surprised by how she looks," Another teammate commented. The team honestly thought if the girlfriend was real, she was going to look like a typical Japanese schoolgirl. They didn't expect her to be a black girl who spoke fluent Japanese.
"Also what's with the tux? I thought we agreed you were going to wear creme with a champagne gold bowtie." Aliyah commented.
"Just be glad I'm wearing a tux. " He said before handing her the corsage. She crossed her arms and glared at him. "What now?"
"You're supposed to put it on me, right? That's what I saw in the movies." Aliayh wanted the full prom experience and that's what she plans on getting. Kagami let out a sigh before taking her hand and placing the decorative flower on her wrist. "At least you're capable of getting the flower right...." She said as she looked at her decorated wrist.
"Can you say anything that doesn't sound condescending or a complaint?" She's only been here for 3 minutes and her diva attitude was giving Kagami a headache.
"I missed you." Those words caught his attention and made him soften up.
"I missed you too..." Even though they have explosive arguments over insignificant things. They still miss being in each other's presence.
The upbeat music as well as the students began to slow down. Kagami turned his head to hide his blush as he offered his hand to his date. He's not much of a dancer but he knew she loved dancing. Aaliyah's eyes brightened and she immediately took his hand and pulled him to the dancefloor. Once they claimed their spot on the dancefloor she immediately placed her delicate hands on his broad shoulders. Kagami's larger hands were hesitant to touch her but he managed to rest them on her waists.
It was awkward since this was their first time dancing together. Aliyah was always used to Akashi taking the lead immediately. Now she was waiting for Kagami to guide her but he was as still as a statue. "Um, I'm ready..."
"Right...give me a sec." He never danced before. They always made it look so easy in the movies.
"How the hell do you know how to handle a basketball but you don't know how to lead a girl?" She has seen this boy move with such swiftness and passion on the basketball court but right now he doesn't even know which direction to sway her.
"Dancing and basketball are two different things!"
"They're the same thing." She proved her point by taking the lead. She held his waist and pulled him close. "Your teammate passes you the ball then you begin your dribble as soon as you take the first step." She took the first step and moved with her torso. The little pressure she had on him made him automatically move with her, which surprised him.
"Sometimes you do a crossover..." She explained while stepping in a different direction. Kagami continued to follow the little lady's lead. She took a step back and hands moved off his waist. Her hand moved to firmly grasp his. "Other times you do behind the back," her gently tug guided him to walk around her till he completed a full circle. He never once looked away from her gaze. "And you throw in a spin move whenever you try to be flashy." She stepped forward and turned into his arms till her back was to his chest. She looked up at him with a cocky smirk on her face, "See just like basketball..."
He blinked in surprise when he realized she had him dancing with such little effort on her part. Her control over him infuriated him but also excited him. He blushed a bit and looked away from her gaze. "You must not have paid attention to a single game I played because you know I never used a spin move to be flashy..." He stepped back to untangle her from his arms and when she was facing him he pulled her into his chest. He used her momentum to lead her into a spontaneous dip. "I dunk." He wasn't going to let her get the best of him this time.
Now it was her turn to blush. Who the hell taught him how to dip? "I have..." She turned her head away from him to hide her embarrassment. "I viewed every live your school streamed when it came to your games" That was true. She watched them with Kuroko and sometimes the whole gang. They were all so proud of their friend's progress.
"You have?" He questioned as he slowly pulled her out of the dip. They continued to rock and sway to avoid being stagnant on the dancefloor. He didn't think she was keeping up with his interests anymore now that they were miles apart. She had others to give her attention to after all.
"Of course. I still like you after all," She wasn't going to drop him just because of distance. She should have. However, there was something about this untamable beast that made her want to continue her hunt. It would ruin her pride if he was known at the catch that got away.
She immediately took notice when he brought his face closer to hers, "Just like?" They have been together for some time and she can only bring herself to like him?
"Well...maybe a little more than that." She said before giving him a small peck on the lips. She was hoping Kagami would be satisfied with that, but she forgot that this guy had always had a large appetite in every way. He suddenly took her hand and began walking towards the exit. "H-hey! Where are we going?" They had only been at this prom for 30 minutes and he already wanted to leave.
"You said you wanted a full prom experience," He said as he led her through the parking lot. His early graduation gift from his father awaited them. He opened the door to the firey red Dodge charger for her. "Get in."
Aliyah recalled him telling her that his dad got him a car. It looks intimidating now that she is being asked to sit in the front seat. She has never sat in the front seat before. "How are going to have a prom experience if we are leaving the prom? She was confused about his impulses but she didn't resist him. Once she and her dress were safely in the car, Kagami closed the door and got in the driver's seat.
"The full experience happens outside of prom," He said with confidence before starting the engine. His date got a bit flustered from feeling the vibration of a powerful engine for the first time.
"What happens outside? " She tried to recall all the movies she watched and they usually end with the main couple dancing or leaving the party early to..."Taiga....n-now?"
"You said you were leaving first thing in the morning...so why wait." Who knows when they will get this chance to be together again? It could be months...hell maybe years. He didn't want those precious moments to be wasted at a school dance he didn't even want to go to. He would rather spend those moments in bed with her panting and whimpering in his arms.
She stared at him for a moment as she thought about what he was suggesting to her. She already checked into her hotel so her parents already knew she made it to the States safely. It's not like they are going to check the cameras either... "Stop by the convince store first," she ordered.
"Yes ma'am," He pulled out of the parking lot. They left to get the necessary items so they could have a safe full prom experience in the heiress's hotel room.
