Made this while listening to the new album of IVE, I'VE IVE. English is not my first language but I got inspired and wanted to write a Wonyo inspired story, a Jangkku fan fic. Many things were changed from reality and even more were made up so... take it as you wish.

-----------------------------------------------------

Many people describe her as a popular singer with silky long hair, bright eyes and slim figure, the visual center of a famous group.

If you ask her fans they would sing a million praises, that she is a confident, self-reliant and talented angel. A hard working girl that the public only acknowledged for her looks and was always being made less. The person who gave them beautiful moments and who they passionately had to protect.

Protect from whom you may ask... When receiving a big amount of praise and love one will also receive hate. There's a group of people who are passionate about her for the most obnoxious things, the so-called Antis. They see her as an annoying being, a try hard. Always fake and arrogant, someone who came off as lazy when not disrespectful.

Their power is considerable. Multiple times they would make a false narrative out of nothing and make an out of context 60 seconds video a viral career threatening issue. Whether it was an expression, an eating habit or an awkward interaction, the hate was constant.

In Wonyoung's opinion she is a relatively simple person. A fashion lover who happened to become a popular singer and got to win the affection of the public with her group. She always knew she was gorgeous but she never thought of that as a reason to walk over people. Even when others' affection towards her changed she never let it get to her head. It was tough dealing with the gossip but she made herself strong overtime.

Since little she considered her future and knew the only way to have a bright future is through hard work. To have a future In the entertainment industry she knew she had to become someone indispensable in the industry, someone who people looked up to and were interested in, and she did.

In the beginning she was immensely loved. Yes, there were some occasional rumors and some hate comments but she won the hearts of the public. Her image of a young, playful, beautiful girl nicknamed giant baby had gotten her the title of the nation's granddaughter, which made her insanely famous. It was after she grew out of  her image as a young girl when things started to change, and she got to taste the bitter taste of jealousy, the pressure of the masses and how people can give up on you.

She still remembers clearly the day were she became tainted with the 'rude' label. Many articles came out creating a big controversy. The articles described how after being late to a recording of a live show, she deliberately tried to stand out by wearing a different color scheme when co-hosting the festival and she didn't bow to anyone.

Of course there was a motive behind it, the fact was she was late because she had to go to the hospital, get an x-ray and medications to help stabilize the pain. That day she had saved a lost kid from a car accident, putting her life in danger and injuring her back. There was no way she could use the same clothes after tainting them with blood and dirt, and she wouldn't be a burden to her coworkers missing on the show when she had most of the lines in the script so she put up with the pain.

The difficulty breathing and the shortness of breath were bearable and easy to cover when presenting the artists but it was the numbness like pins and needles she felt when standing that she couldn't handle. It was true she had been very cut short and unresponsive that live show for her standards but she had never been disrespectful like the snippet videos that were circulating online after the transmission, and that gave her peace of mind.

Someone who tries her best in what she's given, that's the sort of woman she is... sadly nobody knew. The kpop industry is known for not forgiving those labeled as problematic idols.

Still, even when people kept discrediting her and the number of hate comments increased nobody could deny the fact that she was special. She possessed an special aura, the aura of trendsetter; an it girl. Everything she did became the talk of the town.

In any train station you could find an ad of Wonyoung, a cover in a renowned magazine or a cf promoting a big pizza chain or the latest cellphone, and people accepted the fact. "She is a problematic idol, but we love seeing her"... love to point out every flaw but can't seem to ignore her existence the idol often said but she didn't mind, life was mostly fine and she had a goal in mind: TO EXCEL.

And that's the beginning of a legend.
