CHAPTER FIVE:
( birth place of primal fear. )

"what is a home if not the first place
you learn to run from?"

"I won't do it," Seira bluntly told Makima.

Early in the morning as Seira and Aki were enjoying their Tuesday mornings silently sipping coffee the older woman had made the two of them. They rarely ever spoke in the mornings, often opting for peaceful mornings letting the record player drag its needle across one of Seira's many collected vinyls. Aki hadn't heard many bands she had collected over the years, most of them being foreign, but he enjoyed them all the same. She had a taste for the classics and older rock music, but he couldn't deny is ever growing love for the slow melody's she often pulled off her walls.

Seira's phone had sadly broken their ritual, a call from the woman above, ordering them to be in her office in the next hour. When the call ended Aki couldn't help but study Seira's face, and watch her nose crinkle in disgust and her eyes held a thousand daggers in them, just waiting to plunge into the silk of skin. He still was left in the dark of night on what made the two build on top of hatred, but he knew that he would follow Seira like a shadow, and that was all that mattered to him.

They had both gotten ready fairly quick, leaving the morning dishes piled in the sink, and made their way out to the world. Aki followed several steps behind his master, watching as her mere prescience and aura parted the sea of people around them. Aki had quickly picked up on the way Seira carried herself, and noticed how other people reacted towards her. She stood tall and unmoving like a pillar. Her eyes held a thousand secrets, and he swore they had seen the death and rebirth of the earth a thousand times. She held wisdom and strength like a scale, and she always stayed balanced between everything she did. People parted in fear from her, and Aki could never pinpoint why, but he liked to think that it was because they didn't want their sins to stain such a pure presented woman.

Human's weren't that kind though.

They both had reached Makima's office with ten minutes to spare, for Seira told Aki that if you weren't early you were late, and Seira despised being late for anything. The moment Seira stepped into the cage that was Makima's office he watched as her demeanor became more rigid and strict, and her eyes held wrath like a fire in the far distant night. He wished to know what secrets kept the both of them in a snakes battle of animosity. Makima stared back at his master with hollow eyes, and a smile that put anyone under a cold sweat. He couldn't look at Makima the same as he once did, for any undying admiration he had for the woman was quickly swept away by the woman he lived with. Although a part of his heart still couldn't let go of Makima so easily.

"I'm so happy to see you both early," Makima finally broke the tension.

Neither one of them spoke, for Seira had quickly told Aki in the beginning that he was never to speak in the presence of the red headed woman, and that she would do the talking for him. He hated it at first, for he felt as if he was being looked down upon, like he couldn't fight his own battles and needed a woman to speak for him. She was doing it too keep him safe though, and he appreciated that for the first time in forever that someone was finally looking out for him.

"I have a special mission for you both, one that I think you'll enjoy that doesn't involve you dealing punishment out to petty devils," Makima always was quick to get to the point.

"What are the details," Seira was quicker to the point though.

Makima's fake smile grey in size, "You'll be traveling to Wazuka, some devil activity has appeared," Makima paused and looked at Seira with a face that Aki couldn't decipher, "The town has recently gone under attack by a much more powerful devil, destroying homes, eating humans, and most recently the towns most sacred church."

Aki took a side glance at Seira and watched as her hands clenched at her sides, and the air become shivering cold as she looked at Makima. She looked ready to kill, like a hound ready to lock its jaws around the necks of its prey. "Do we know what type of devil it is," Seira managed out of her clenched teeth.

"A primal fear," Makima's eyes sparkled.

"I won't do it," Seira quickly interjected, and the room quickly felt as hot as a desert.

"Well, then Aki will have to do it on his own," Makima finally looked at him, and he couldn't help but squirm under her gaze.

"No, he's not ready. Neither one of us are taking on that task, give it to a special division," Seira took a step towards Makima's desk.

Makima darted her eyes at Seira, and painted her face with a scowl, "That's not an option."

"Then what are our options," Seira quickly bit back. Aki had never seen her so worked up before, he had never seen her so emotional.

"The only option I'm giving you is your corporation," Makima coldly replied.

Both of them stared daggers at one another, and Aki couldn't help but expect a fight to break out between the two. It felt as though death had entered the room, waiting to drag one of their souls to the dying lands. They both truly hated each other Aki had come to realize in that moment, and nothing would ever change that stance, for they both were too stubborn. He wondered though, who would truly die in a battle against each other, for he had never seen Makima fight, and he had never seen Seira at her fullest potential. They both held up such powerful aura's that Aki could almost see a draw happening between the two.

In the blink of an eye Seira was storming out of the office and Aki could only watch in disbelief at her outburst. He didn't know wether to follow her or stay put, but his shock kept him stuck to the floor. He could only turn to Makima and become entranced by her sadistic smile that crept upon the corner of her lips. What had she pulled out of Seira that made her react in such a manner. Makima finally turned towards Aki, keeping her smile and emotionless eyes bored onto him.

"It really is a shame that she doesn't wish to see her birth place," Makima commented.

What has gotten into me, another chapter so soon?!?! I apologize that this chapter is so short, but I feel if i add anymore then it'll somewhat throw the pacing off. Without any spoilers this is where I don't follow chainsaw man's pacing in a sense, for they seem to always combat the devils at least in a weeks time frame, but I will be dragging this particular one out in length and will span over a 4 to 6 month period. Just wait and see, I promise all of you will enjoy it! It'll be a good balance of action and detective work along with some fluff chapters. As always, don't forget to comment, vote, and share, and comment. I love you, my lovely little souls.
