Esme woke up and smiled as and realised that she was in bed next to Alex. She had remembered how they had hooked up. She looked to him as he lay asleep as she sat up from the bed and sighed
She walked over to her hand bag and looked to derek and smiled as she took her pill "your not leaving me here are you?" He asked as smiled smiled
"Would I do that " Esme said as she walked over to the bed as he grabbed her waist and pulled her close and kissed her
"I should hope not" he said as she looked to him and smirked
"Are you okay" Alex asked as she smiled
"I guess. I'm okay. I'm worried over mer...I and Mia is going through some stuff" Esme said as Alex nodded
"Look what Happens with your mom it will be okay. I know that your workers over her still mer she will be okay and I am sure that Mia will. You don't need to worry" Alex said as Esme smiled
Esme knew how sex with Alex was what she needed last night and she needed the distraction from her mother and all the drama

Esme stood in the hallway with the other interns apart from Cristina as they attended pre rounds "I want everyone focused today. With Cristina out, we're short an intern and I have a feeling it's gonna be one of those days. And Karev, see the chief by the end of the day" bailey said

"Maybe he gave the chief syphilis" george said as they asked Patient's room who is over crowded with interns, doctors and nurses listening to the patient as she tell a story

LUh, she presents with a multiple syncopal episodes and ventricular arrhythmias" izzie said
"So you've been passing out?" Bailey asked

"Past medical history of rheumatic heart disease with mitral valve stenosis" izzie said
"They had to ship me from Zambia to the States for 3 months of treatment when I was 8. Rheumatic fever almost killed me"
"Dr. Stevens. What are the primary causes of ventricular arrhythmias?" Bailey asked as Izzie moves to speak but is interrupted by Cristina who has come to the doorway in her hospital gown with her IV stand
"Valvular disease, mitral valve prolapse, stimulants, drugs, and metabolic abnormalities" Cristina said as She looks pleased with herself.
The rest of the interns look at her as Esme and Mia smirked to each other
"What?" Cristina asked
"Out!" Bailey said

"Out! You better be in your room by the time we round on you"

"In 15 seconds. 14. 13. 12. 11." Bailey said Cristina starts walking away, but you can see her underwear through the slip at the back of the gown. Mia, Esme , George, Izzie & Meredith laugh as Dr. Bailey turns away
"Nice panties, Yang" alex said as Cristina closes the back of the gown so nothing shows and turns back to Alex. Esme hit his arm as he smirked

The internet walked into her room. They are now doing her charts for rounds. She is lying in bed. Her mother Helen is also there sitting on a couch, doing some sewing beside a window
"Cristina Yang. Post-op day 3 from a unilateral salpingectomy" Meredith presented
"And ready to get back to work" Cristina said
"Is she? Cristina: I'm taking solids and my pain is controlled with oral meds. I'm ready" Cristina said
"Didn't the nurse say this morning you had a fever?"

"Cristina, did you have a fever?" Bailey asked
"Temp spiked to 101 last night. Big deal" Cristina said
"She worked 2 shifts last month with a 102 degree flu" george said
"Yes. Exactly, George. Thank you" Cristina said
"And we appreciate your dedication but you're staying in bed until it normalizes" bailey said
"I keep telling her there's more to life than surgery and career" her mother said

"Look, I need you to relax, shut up and get better. You're a patient this week so you can be a doctor next week. Understand?" Bailey said as they walked out of the room

Esme walked into Ellis room as she and Mia stood on the doorway as they looked to their mother
"Ok, Dr. O'Malley, you're presenting" bailey said
"Ok, Dr. Grey is post-op day 3 from a tumor resection." George said
"Wrong, wrong, wrong. He's got it all wrong" ellis said

"It's not asthma, it's GERD. He needs a Nissen fundoplication. I don't want them in the room" Ellis said as she looked to her daughters

"They're child and I won't have her on my team" Ellis said
"We'll meet you outside, Dr. Greys" bailey said Meredith walks out a little stunned. Mia and Esme followed

"So I thought since we both have the night off" izzie said

"I thought I told you I never want to see you again"
"That's only cause you're too lazy to learn anything more" he said
Dr. Meredith Grey, emse grey and mia grey...Jeremiah Tate. He thinks he knows so much cause he was one of my first patient's as an intern" bailey said
"I knew as much as she did. She was clueless about how to treat cystic fibrosis. A simple cholecystectomy turned into a month-long stay" Jeremiah said
"Better not be alleging malpractice. Guy raises about a 100 grand a year for cystic fibrosis, running triathlons. Thinks he's a big shot" bailey said
"You run triathlons?" Meredith asked
"Rather you than me" mia said
"Why not?" He asked
"Pain for one. Says here you're finally admitting to feeling a little?" Bailey said

"No. It's probably just my pancreatitis kicking up again"

"No, he doesn't like to bother them until he's well or about to get discharged. He understands his reality. He just chooses to ignore it. Denial works for him, grey" bailey said

Mia and esme stood in the Radiology viewing room with bailey and Meredith looking over Jeremiah's x-rays put up on an x-ray board
"Jeremiah's got a mass in his midepigastrium. Diffused enlargement of the pancreas. That, with his hypoglycemic seizures ..." mia said
"He's going to need an exploratory laparotomy. But, despite his triathlons, his lungs still make me hesitant to cut" bailey said
"What are we going to do?" Esne asked
"I don't know that yet" bailey said as Addison walks into the room and up to the x-rays
"Doctors" addison said as Esme looked to her feeling awkward. She felt awkward for her sister
"Dr. Montgomery-Shepherd" bailey said
"How old is he?"
"He's 26" bailey said as Meredith is looking annoyed that Addison is still here. Meredith knew that she wanted derek back and to be back to normal
"Survivor, huh?" Addison asked
"And them some. My patient for at least 5 years. I'm not gonna lose him now" bailey said
"You planning a laparotomy?" Addison asked
"Yeah, but his lungs." Bailey said
"Hmm. You know, I think I could help you with this. I've seen one case like this before in a 9 year old. We ended up having to do a total pancreotectomy" Addison said
"I'd be honored to take any help you can give me"
"You're a neonatal specialist. What ... uh ... this isn't your area" Meredith said as Dr. Bailey looks annoyed. She shakes her head at her
"I'm just saying that... " Meredith said
"I did 2 years genetic research in cystic fibrosis. I've pretty much seen it all, Dr. Grey" addison said
"Oh" Meredith said. Mia and Esme looked to each other and chuckled knowing how awkward they felt

Esme sat in the basement with Meredith who was looking through charts
"Addison gave Derek divorce papers, which is good. I mean she's still here, being Addison, but it's not like I'm jealous or anything" Meredith said
"That's odd" esme said not paying attention. Hannah couldn't stop thinking alex and izzie and her relationship with Alex and how she felt as if he was going off of her
"That's odd I'm not jealous?" Meredith asked
"No, you have every right to be jealous. It's your territory and she's peeing all over it" esme said
"Your upset over Alex aren't you. I mean he's Alex and I don't like him as much but he is an idiot yet but he's not stupid. He is in love with you but he won't admit that. He isn't going to choose izzie over you" Meredith said
"And you're losing Mc Dreamy to his wife. You have a right to be jealous" esme said
"I did not lose Mc Dreamy. Divorce papers, remember? And I'm not jealous" Meredith said
"And I'm not upset. Especially over izzie bloody stevens. Besides if Alex needs reminding why I am better I will have to do that" Meredith said smirking to herself
"Okay I am supportive but I'm not that supportive" Meredith said as esme smirked

Mia where Dr. Bailey, Addison and Meredith are explaining the surgery to Jeremiah
"We won't know for sure until we go in there, but it looks like that I'm going to have to take out your pancreas and re-route your intestines" addison said
"Did you tell her that my lungs don't do well with anesthesia?" He asked Bailey
"Don't I always have your back?" Bailey said
"Your kidney function is decreasing rapidly and I'm afraid you're gonna go into multi-system organ failure if we don't operate." Addison said
"If I say no?" He asked
"There's no guarantees, Jeremiah. You know that. It's gonna be a long, hard surgery and put a lot of stress on your body" bailey said
"Yeah, but I'm me" he said Bailey smiles
"But you're you"
"So if we don't operate, I die. And if ... we do operate, I may die" he asked
"Basically, yes" addison said
"Well, I like those odds. And 26 years with this disease is awesome. And that's the reality. So if I get lucky ... great. And if I don't ... " he said as he looks at Dr. Bailey and takes her hand in his

"Where do I sign?" He asked
"Here, for consent. And here for DNR and no extraordinary measures" bailey said as Jeremiah signs
"Good. Ok, lift up for me" bailey said as Jeremiah lifts up in obvious pain as Dr. Bailey uses her stethoscope to listen to his heart beat
"You should probably call my parents" he said
"Call them yourself when you walk out of here" bailey said

Esme stood in the OR with Dr. Bailey, Addison and Meredith and Bella performing surgery on Jeremiah
"I need more traction. Dr. Grey?" Addison said Meredith
"Here give me some suction there" bailey said as Meredith gives suction
"Now grey , retract the duodenum. Good" bailey said to esme To another Doctor
"How's he doing?" Bailey asked
"Harder to ventilate and no urine output since we started" mia said
"He's shutting down" Addison said
"Did you increase his peak pressures?" Bailey asked
"Any higher, I blow his lungs" moa said as Monitor beeps
"Bradycardia. Pushing 1 of atropine" bailey said as she Injects atropine
"Try ventilating him manually, see if he starts coming back up" addison said
"Did we miss any bleeders?" Bailey asked
"The surgical field is clear" bailey said
"Agonal rhythm" Meredith said as the Monitor is beeping faster
"Any pulse with that?" Bailey asked
"No carotid" mia said
"Okay starting CPR... Push one of EPI" bailey said
"No extraordinary measures, Dr. Bailey. He's DNR"
"No this is just good medicine" bailey said as The others stop what they're doing
"Come on! Come on, don't give up. Come on" bailey said
"You're getting tired. Let me take over, Dr. Bailey" Meredith said as Dr. Bailey moves away and pulls Meredith to where she was standing
Meredith starts performing
"Dr. Bailey, his intestines are cyanotic. There is no blood circulating
"It's been shunted to his brain where he needs it" bailey said as She looks at Meredith
"You call those compressions?" She asked as She moves Meredith out of the way and resumes CPR.
"Fight it. Come on" bailey said as Addison shakes her head. Everyone has stopped what they're doing
"Why isn't anyone moving? Whose recording?" Bailey asked
"It's been ten minutes since we've had a perfusing rhythm" addison said as She tries to stop bailey . Who shrugs her off as The monitor flat lines
"It's your call, Dr. Bailey" Addison said as mia and Esme held a look
" 1,2,3,4. ... 1,2,3,4 ... 1 ..." bailey counted as She stops. The only sound is the monitor flat lined. Bailey pulls of her mask.
"Asystole. Time of death: 19:26." Bailey said as She walks out of the O.R trying not to cry
Esme walks into the scrub room as Dr. Bailey leaves the room. Eamr looked to addison
"It's hard to accept the end when you're too close" addison said as she She looks down at the wedding ring she has put back on her finger after cleaning her hands shock esme notices this. Addison sees her looking
"You don't like me very much do you"
"Meredith is my sister what do you expect. She's already hurting and seeing you around doesn't help" Esme said as she looked to addison
"I'm not your enemy" she said as Esme sighed. She knew they addison hadn't done anything to her but she did feel upset for Meredith

Esme and Mia walked into Cristina room with Meredith where she is sobbing loudly on her bed.. Izzie, George and Helen are in there
"What's going on?" Meredith asked
"I can't stop. I can't. I can't stop ..." Cristina sobbed
"Crying. She can't stop crying" izzie said
"I can see that!" Meredith said
"What did you guys do to her?" Esme asked
"Nothing!" Izzie said
"She's going to dehydrate. Cristina do you want some water?" George asked as Cristina shakes her head no, still sobbing
"No, no" she sobbed as Meredith moves in to hug
"NO!" George yelled as George pulls Meredith away
"I already tried that. It just made it worse" izzie said
"I knew she'd break sooner or later. Just a matter of time" Helen soad
"I will kill her!" Cristina sobbed
Meredith starts escorting Helen out of the room
"Ma'am."
"I'm her mother!" Helen said
"We don't do well with mothers here. Why don't you leave and come back later." Meredith said
"Tell me about it" hananh said George tentatively hands Cristina a tissue. Meredith walks back in
"Cristina ..." Meredith said
"Make, make it stop. Make it sto-opp" Cristina said as she Continues crying. George tries to hand her another tissue
"Somebody sedate me!" Cristina yelled as George runs out of the room as Cristina continues sobbing

Esme walked into the pub as she looked to see Alex and smiled "you look great" he said as she smiled
"Thanks I'm glad we're doing this. I know they you think I'm jealous but that's not it alex" she said as he looked to her and smirked
"You have nothing to worry over" he said as he leant in and kissed her. She smirked into the kiss. She smirked as he pulled away from her
"I'm glad" she said
"Then can I punch her in the Face if she flirts again" esme asked as Alex looked to her and chucked.
"You can do what you want besides seeing you in that dress I can't wait to see it off with besides we have a dinner reservation and I know that an angry you we'll I get the benefits of that" Alex said as esme looked to him and smirked
"Is that so" she said as she leant in and kissed him. He grabbed her waist and pulled her close.
Alex lead esme out of the bar and smiled as he looked to her. He tucked her blonde hair out of her face and Alex knew how he was hopelessly in love with esme grey
He didn't care anymore. He didn't care what anyone else thought he just wanted esme and no one else but her.
