I stare at the clock and watch
As he ticks and tocks
What does each click o'tick mean?
And why does a clock o'tock?
These questions go unanswered
And he clicks away
Ticking and tocking
But never tocking and ticking
Every once in a while the hand hesitates
Slowing down from it's rhythm
Tick pause.
Tock
Before I know it the time has changed
The hours and minutes passed by
As I watch the seconds tick
The tocks move on
And it was as the years add up
That I then knew
With each tick I pondered
I lost a tock
