The car stopped in front of a building and Feng Zeyu was the first to talked into the fourth floor. When the elevator door opened, there was a large sign that said Hua An Security.
"Boss, you drank?" As soon as he walked inside, a man in security uniform came up and said to him with a cheeky smile.
"So what if boss had some alcohol? With our boss's ability, he could down 10 bottles without getting drunk." The other man, too, was grinning cheekily in a playful way.
Feng Zeyu glanced over at them and the two men stood up straight solemnly with their smiles gone immediately.
"What was the call this morning about?"
"To let you know that a few companies had expressed their intention to renew their rental agreement with us and we need you to sign the paperwork." The one who spoke was Mao Weiping, a man who had stood by Feng Zeyu's side in life and death situations. He had sustained severe injuries and lost a leg in the battlefield and now handled administrative work at the security company. He was also a minor shareholder of the company.
When Feng Zeyu got out of prison, he was at loss for a while. So he went to look up a few of his old comrades. Two men had died on his team and two were severely injured. He was the only one who got out unscathed. When he met up with them, Feng Zeyu learned that both of them had been assigned to some paltry paying government post that they were to stay for the rest of their lives.
Many of the other comrades that he knew were assigned to factories. Back then factories were no doing well and the pay was paltry. Many didn't even have work and would turn to jobs like personal security or securities for business. Some would just work at constructions.
Feng Zeyu felt that that should not be the case. After long and serious consideration, he took out a loan with his grandparents' house along with his past savings and started this security company. When Mao Weiping found out about it, he put in his own savings, put his position on hold and came to City Nan to help him out. In addition to Mao Weiping and himself, all of the other employees were veterans and many of them was from his platoon. Most of them had seen blood before and protecting some rich men was nothing but a simple task to them.
After he had gathered this group of people, that had alerted the government. They reached out to him for a talk and this security company almost didn't happen. Having no other choices, Feng Zeyu reached out to his old superior and that was when the old superior found out about him going to prison for something that he had not done. He got him the approval and he was able to start his own company.
With this incident, many with sources found out about this security company. In this day and age, anyone with some money valued their lives a lot and case loads came flying in for Feng Zeyu.
All in all, everybody from his location became personal bodyguard. Other regular veterans became loan security for companies. Meaning that they were still employees of Feng Zeyu's company. They went to work at the other companies' locations but the companies would pay Hua An Security and Hua An would, in turn, pay them.
On paper they were making about the same as what they would have gotten working elsewhere. In reality, with all sorts of supplements and benefits, they were making much more. These were all money that his brothers made from risking their own lives so Feng Zeyu only took a very small commission. The companies that hired them were also assured that, with the contract between them, they would always have someone there and, with the reputation, the security of their companies was assured.
Over the last few years, rich men from other areas had been reaching out to them for their services. Feng Zeyu had been planning on opening up a branch in City North.
"Lao Feng, someone said they have found that girl," said Mao Weiping abruptly after he put down a stack of contracts.
"I've heard." Feng Zeyu was reading through the contracts carefully. When it came to the profits of his brothers, he would not allow any mistakes.
"You've heard? Then what is your plan?" Mao Weiping wasn't aware that Feng Zeyu had already heard about it.
It had been many years since the incident and the high school girl back then had already graduated college and gotten married. Feng Zeyu had no intention of giving her a hard time.
"The culprits were the teenagers and their families. The girl... was blackmailed. Just let it go."
"We can't just let it go. Had she not testified against you, you wouldn't have gone to jail for so many years for something that you did not do. You were the one who always said those who had made mistakes must be punished." Comparing to him, Mao Weiping was very strict about those who had committed a crime.
"I was referred to our enemies," said Feng Zeyu as he put down the contract and looked at Mao Weiping.
"Then they are now your enemies and mine as well." If it wasn't for them, Feng Zeyu wouldn't be where he was right now.
"That's why I had been collecting criminal evidences against them and their fathers all this time. I have plenty in my hand already and should almost be ready. I only want to turn to them for revenge. As for the girl...." Feng Zeyu shook his head. Emotionally, he could not forgive the girl for what she had done; rationally, nevertheless, he understand why she did what she did.
Speaking of woman, that reminded Feng Zeyu of Shu Yan. Comparing the two of them, one of them turn against him after he had saved her, whereas the other one, even though she was the one who saved Duoduo first, always remained appreciative of him for what he had done. Not only did she cook for him every night during those days, she further invited him to her housewarming today.
He never expected appreciation when he helped others but it was most certainly heartwarming when it was reciprocated.
In addition, Shu Yan's kindness was also touching. Not everyone would notice human trafficker and alert the police after that. Definitely not standing up when the moment called for it.
"Hey, I am talking to you. Are you listening to me?" Mao Weiping knocked on the desk and gave Feng Zeyu a dubious look. "Eh? Lao Feng. Something is going on with you lately. Spill. Is there something going on?" said Mao Weiping as his wiggled his brows and gave him a very suggestive look.
"You are making stuff up."
"What, what, what? I haven't even said anything and you are already defensive. Is it true? Who is she?" Mao Weiping was genuinely concerned about him. He was married before his incident and had a son. When he returned home after his injury, his wife stayed and took care of him. He had a happy family. Feng Zeyu, on the other hand, went to prison over what had happened and then smeared by his stepmother. He was still single at 35.
Feng Zeyu frowned. "Really, nothing is going on. You know my reputation. Stop talking nonsense."
"What about your reputation? You are too stuck in your ways. We are in the modern world now. So what if you have been to prison? You didn't even commit any crime and you are about to clear your own name. Besides, you keep emphasizing the fact that you have been to prison. Why don't you talk about your achievement in the army and how many people you have saved?" Mao Weiping stood up emotionally.
"That's enough." Feng Zeyu gave Mao Weiping a look and turned his attention back to the document in front of him. "Back to work already."
On the other end, Shu Yan and Lin Hui finally finished bringing the table and kitchenware back. The two of them collapsed on the ground, exhausted.
"I need to take care of something at home. I am going to take off now." Lin Hui bid her farewell after a small break.
"Okay. Thank you so much for today. I'll come looking for you on the morning of the 25th." After seeing Lin Hui off, Shu Yan planned to turn in after putting away the dried goods that were given to her by Hu Ruixue. Just when she was about to close her door, she saw Sister Zhang walking out of the elevator.
"Hi, Zhang-jie."
"Hey, you've moved in?" Zhang-jie looked over at Shu Yan and said happily, "Ah, it's going to be much livelier around here."
She moved in end of last month and they were the only family on this floor. Now that she had been used to being the sole resident of this floor, this would take some getting used to.
"Yeah, when the one from across from you moved in on the 25th, our floor will truly be lively. Zhang-jie hasn't had lunch yet, right? Want to grab something real quick over at my place?" Shu Yan opened up her door to invite Zhang-jie in.
"No need. No need. I've just ate over at my mom's." Having said that, she let out a sigh. "My distant relative came to visit again. My old place is available but I have already moved all my stuff over here. I'm here to grab a blanket."
"The distant relative that you mentioned last time?"
"Yeah, that one." This time Zhang-jie didn't complain unhappily. "Her daughter is studying at City Nan University. I just found this out last time. Just you say, if her kid is attending City Nan University, she should have put down my address when they applied."
Shu Yan thought to herself, that wasn't what you've said last time. In fact, you said she wasn't courteous enough.
"She is here to visit her child?" asked Shu Yan.
"Yeah, speaking of, she's an unlucky woman as well. Her husband passed away when she was young and only left her with a daughter. Lucky her daughter is a good one and get into City Nan University and will be assigned a job as soon as she graduates. She'd be able to relax then. But it wasn't easy for them to support a university student from the village. In addition to visiting her child this trip, she also wants to look for a job.
She had asked us to help her with that. You know how difficult it is to find a job at this day and age? We don't even know when we are going to lose ours; how will we be able to help her?" Zhang-jiesighed. "Luckily, we are just talking about several years. Unlike me, I have four children..."

Shu Yan had been looking for a nanny and a reliable one was difficult to come by. First of all, she has to be of the right age. Shu Yan worried that someone who was too young would not be able to take good care of the children and would have to worry about her health if she was an elderly. Someone around 35 – 45 years old would be the best.
Next, she has to be clean, especially when it came to cooking. If they couldn't rinse off the vegetables or do the dishes properly, Shu Yan wouldn't be able to eat what she has prepared. Then there was her character. She would, after all, have to rely on her to pick up and drop off her children. She had read on the news kids being kidnapped by the nanny. She would need to look for someone that she was familiar with.
Now she had just ran into someone who was 39 years old, just the perfect age. She was Zhang-jie's relatives, not a complete stranger. Most importantly, she has a daughter attending City Nan University. She has just this one daughter. Meaning, she wouldn't commit a crime unless she wants her daughter to have a criminal mother. As for her cleanliness, time would tell.
