Prologue

One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming....

Nora Stephens’ life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small-town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

Review

Do you want a fresh breath of air. Then it's this book. It's awesome, it's new and something authors don't write or try to go in depth.

The book was relatable because Nora is a character which is me. Always misjudged because of hardwork I do. And come out as a bitch.

Anyways.

The book is something which breaks the conservative plot of all the rom-coms. Because Nora is the girl who is dumped by her boyfriend just because he met someone on the outskirts of the city.

Even if you came across such books already then also do try it because it's fascinating and totally new.

The characters are amazing and their relationships are detailed. And this book take a tour on each relationship accurately. The lows and highs of relationship and the significance about sacrifice and everything.

When I picked this book I didn't expect it to be that much refreshing because basically all rom-coms now carries similar mundane plots.

And the craving of some sane characters of min was fulfilled by this book.

I instantly fell in love with Emily Henry's writing and followed her immediately on insta.

That much this book had effect on me.

Tbh Emily's almost all books are the winner of goodread choice awards. He writing skill is different because the characters are shaped into real life people. With their flaws and insecurities and the best thing about her books are the decent behaviour every character showcase. If you want to look for a less cringe and cliche book this one is for you.

About the plot...

I am going to give spoilers a lot because I want to praise this book and read what I felt after like.. Twenty or fifteen years.

When I say Emily's book was a boost drink of my rom-com hunting on Goodreads and some slice of life, it really turned out to be.

Charlie was a man I loved a lot(now I've a bf so 😂) the way he analyses people and then react so that he don't feel that he has let any piece of the puzzle struck a deep chord of emotion within me.

I love how the characters prioritise each other's career a lot and their individual happiness and try not to slow or make anyone down.

Because yes it's true we want to spend lifetime with our loved ones but at the same times also doing a work that makes us happy and content with accomplishment and not existing in vain.
