A/N:

Hi,

My first Genesis fanfic! I couldn't find any here, so I decided to write my own.

Anyway I don't think it's the best thing I've ever written, but as for first time about them not that bad. If you liked it or just have anything to say, leave a comment, any advice would be useful, I'd also love to know your opinions about this story. Anyway hope you'll have a good fun!

Love

June

When Steve returned from the tour you were very much looking forward to spending some time together again, whatever you say talking on the phone is not the same as sitting next to him, looking into his blue eyes, combing your hand through his hair or hearing his sweet voice - these things were irreplaceable.

In the meantime, however, he completely surprised you by telling you that he had booked a cottage for you in a small seaside town. He said he wanted to somehow make up for the fact that you were spending far less time together than he wanted you to do, and thought it would be a good break from the city for the two of you. You never blamed him for his absences from home, he loved playing in a band, touring was part of his dream job. Of course you didn't like it when he wasn't home, but seeing little mentions of Genesis in the papers made you realise that all his commitment was worth it.

Either way, this week just the two of you could have been a great opportunity to catch up on all that time while he was away and you were busy with your work. The whole journey to the town would have gone almost without a hitch if it wasn't for the fact that you got lost a good five times in the meantime, but you were in too good a mood to be terribly concerned about it, instead you just tried to laugh it off until you finally made it there. The town where you were to spend the next week was not very touristy, which you liked very much because you wanted a quiet place.

You spent most of the days by the sea, and once Steve even persuaded you to go into the water (or more culturally forced you, as he took you in his arms and carried you to the sea), which turned out to be very cold, so you quickly escaped to your blanket without risking ending up like Steve, who looked very frozen after you left.

Your evenings, on the other hand, were passed either walking around the small town and sitting in the only café where several of the same couples sat next to you every day, who were also looking for peace and quiet in this place.

Then you would return to the cottage, where you would play board games, watch TV, listen to records, Steve would play guitar for you, or you would just talked in sometimes serious, other times completely humorous way before falling asleep in his arms.

Each day passed without a worry, just full of sunshine and fun.

However, on your penultimate day in the town, when you woke up it was raining outside the windows. So you were left to stay inside. This did not mean, of course, that the rest of your day did not pass wonderfully. All day you played all the card games you could think of, and then each of you busied yourself with something else. You picked up the book you were going to finish, while he was writing greetings on the postcard you wanted to send to your friends in London. When he finished he walked over to you and sat down on the sofa, putting his arm around you.

"Why don't we go for a walk? It's stopped raining, the weather seems much better. By the way we'll send the postcard."

"Sure." you replied immediately, kissing his forehead affectionately, which meant you could almost see the slight blush on his face, making you smile. "Then let's go, beautiful views await us."

You stood up and headed for the door. You took an umbrella just in case, but when you saw the acoustic guitar carried by Steve you raised an eyebrow.

"We're not going for a casual walk, are we?" You asked, already knowing he had a plan, and he lifted his shoulders resignedly.

"Congratulations Sherlock, you got me." he laughed lowering his arms with a laugh.

"Where are we going?" you asked curiously, looking deep into his blue eyes wanting to force an answer, but it was met with the opposite result as he smiled broadly, letting the colour of his irises sink in. He always did that, making you able to pause in mid-sentence just because of his sweet smile. He was well aware of this, sometimes, like now he even took advantage of it.

"You're not playing fair!" you indignantly joked, crossing your arms on your chest.

"Really? I don't understand what you mean." he shrugged his shoulders seemingly innocently and leaned in to kiss your cheek gently, making you blush.

"You're doing it again..." you had already left the house, and you continued to argue with him.

"What am I doing?" he teased you, pretending to be unaware.

"You're deliberately messing with my head. Not nice, Mr. Hackett." You poked him in the side, but he seemed unmoved.
"I really don't know what you mean, miss" he shook his head at you, and you sighed theatrically.

"So you're not going to tell me, are you?" You asked, hugging him resignedly.

"How did you know? Besides, it's a surprise, accept it." his laughter somehow brought a smile to your face again.

"I would never change you for nobody, but sometimes I really wish you were less mysterious." you joked with him and he just shook his head.

"I also wouldn't, (Y/N), even if patience doesn't seem to be your strong suit right now." he laughed as you poked him again. "Well what? I'm just stating the facts!" you croaked, but he apparently pleased with himself put his arm around you and kissed the top of your head ending your conversation.

You spent the rest of the journey in silence gazing at the evening's lowering sun casting its glare on the water and the horizon looming in the distance. It was a beautiful evening, with a gentle rainy aura still hanging in the air, even if the warm rays had already managed to dry out most of the puddles.

In the meantime, you stopped by the post office to send a card. Finally, after ten minutes of walking, you finally arrived at the place Steve wanted to take you to. It turned out to be a small pier, at the end of which stood one solitary bench. Steve sat down on it and invited you to join in beside him

"This place is beautiful..." you sighed, resting your head on his shoulder and focusing on the beautiful view.

Steve didn't respond, however, so you turned your head towards him to notice that he was already holding a guitar in his lap. You wanted to ask what he was going to play, but before you had time, his fingers had already struck the strings gently, producing a quiet sound from the instrument. After a while, he began to play a gentle melody, the smoothness of which seemed to blend perfectly with the sound of the sea.

It seemed magnificent to you, your heart seemed to start beating a little faster because of the short piece. You gazed at the beautiful landscape around you, the sun melting into the sea and the sky filled with hues from gold through red and pink to purple and dark blue. The melody continued to flow, and you felt as if each sweet note played by your boyfriend was laying down its own separate story, bringing the composition together.

You wanted the moment to last forever, but after a while, the sound of the guitar faded away, leaving only space for the incessant hum of the waves hitting the pier.

You couldn't say anything, you were still lost in your own thoughts when Steve put the guitar down and after a few minutes finally decided to speak up.

"What do you think?" he asked a little shyly, as if he didn't know that you had always had boundless admiration for his skills.

"It was magical, Steve." you just nodded your head still unable to tear your thoughts away from the graceful mood of the piece.

"Do you really think so? It's still unfinished, I just thought you'd like to hear it." He added, and his voice was quiet, as if he didn't want to disturb the blissful silence.

"That tune was really great. I loved it." You said touched, wrapping your arms around his neck and hiding your face in your boyfriend's dark hair.

"I actually wrote it for you last night." he confessed in a whisper, combing his long, slender fingers through your hair.

"Really?" you asked surprised, lifting your head to look into his sparkling blue eyes.

"Yes. I love every moment spent here with you." he stated sincerely, and you were surprised by his boldness. He wasn't the type of man who said such things very often; he seemed more like a silent lover, seemingly far less affectionate than he actually was.

I'm glad you're here with me too, Steve. You don't even know how much I love you." you whispered, before placing a gentle kiss on his soft lips.

"I love you too, (Y/N). More than you can imagine." he replied barely audibly against your lips, before kissing your forehead.

You rested your head on his shoulder again and smiled to yourself, grabbing one of Steve's hands between your own. This one holiday, and this evening in particular, was to remain in your memory for a long time to come.
