"Indi!" Alejandro calls out as he walks in my apartment, and I turn my head to look at him.
"I forgot we were doing something today." I say as I set my pencil down in my workbook as he comes over to me, putting his hands on my shoulders.
"Is now a bad time?" He questions as I shake my head.
"No, it's fine, I just forgot I had to study today." I say as he begins rubbing my shoulders.
"Same test still?" He asks quietly as I nod, picking up my pencil again. "When even is it? You've been studying for ages."
"It's at the end of next month, but my parents are on me about it so I can't do bad." I say as he wraps his arms around me, resting his chin on my shoulder as he looks down at my workbook.
"You should take a break. You're studying all day, every day." He whispers as I hum, quickly finishing up what I was working on when he came in.
When I finish it I put a tab on the page so I can go back and I close the book, before I spin around in the chair. "What do you want to do?" I question as I look at up him.
"I can always come back later, I don't want to keep you from studying, especially if you have pressure on you." He says quietly as I shake my head.
"I need to study, but I really want to spend time with you." I say as I reach my hands out and he takes them as he leans down, kissing the back of one of my hands.
"We can go to the café and you can work on it and I can just watch game footage and take notes. Do you want to do that?" He suggests as I smile.
"Yes." I murmur as I wrap my arms around him in a hug and he kisses my cheek as he rubs my back.
I pull away from the hug and I grab my backpack, putting in my workbook and a few other things I may end up needing and we walk out of my apartment down to his car. The café is where we had our first 'date' and lately we've been coming here more frequently, even if it's just to grab a coffee.
In a way, it's our place now.
We've just been here too many times for it to be a coincidence, we both know the meaning this café holds on us. It's important.
When we get there we find a booth and I pull out my workbook and some flash cards, and he grabs out his computer and a notebook. I ended up just ordering coffee for now, but if we're here until later I'll definitely be getting food.
I begin working again and every once in awhile my eyes will drift to him, and he is fully immersed in the game and I can't help but smile. He's focused on something he's really passionate about and it's really cute.
When I move on to the next page I feel my phone buzz and I look at it.

So there was an article released about Ale being spotted with some girl, and it was you clearly, and turns out your mom saw that article

And I was like uh I don't know, not that I'm aware of, but she knew I was lying

And then your sister told your mom and dad

That was their one rule with my parents agreeing I could live in Barcelona alone, I had to put school first. I'm screwed, absolutely screwed

And if you don't do good on that test

I'm not saying distance yourself from Ale, but yk

What are you going to do?

We'll i have to pass this test, so maybe
not see him until the end of next month

this test is to me, so he'll get it

And then you may want to explain to your parents, but I'd get things sorted out with him first

though there's this really great guy who's now in
the picture but I have to completely ignore that

I can still try to do stuff on like weekends occasionally, I just know I can't try to do
anything during the week

Why don't you just see him on weekends then?

Because if I want to like be in a relationship
I want to be all in it, you know? It'd be easier

I set my phone down as I stare blankly at my workbook. Just as soon as things started to go well, ripped away in a minute, all from some article and my family seeing it.
We spent another two hours at the café but I got hardly anything done, all I could think about was how I was going to break things off with Ale.
When we walk in my apartment I set my bag down and I turn to look at him. "Can we talk about something?" I question as he nods slightly.
"Anything." He says as I cross my arms.
"So you know I love spending time with you, and I absolutely adore you, but I really need to focus on my school right now." I say as he knits his eyebrows together.
"What do you mean?"
"My family saw an article that was released about you and some girl, which was me clearly, and the only reason I'm allowed to be here on my own is because I agreed school would be first. And I don't think I can have distractions right now because then I'd probably have to leave Barcelona all together, and I love it here." I add as he begins shaking his head slowly.
"Don't do this." He says quietly.
"I just really can't afford distractions, and it hurts me a lot, because you are absolutely perfect for me, and you know that, but you're just not perfect for me right now."
"I understand." He whispers as I take a deep breath, going over and wrapping my arms around him.
"I'm so so sorry, this isn't how this was supposed to happen." I say, muffled by his chest as he kisses the top of my head.
"It's okay. It's okay." He repeats over and over again, kissing my head each time.
"But as soon as my test is done, I'll be here, okay?" I ask as I look up at him and he cups my face.
"I'll be waiting." He whispers before he kisses me. "I'm going to go, I'll see you soon, yeah?" He adds as I nod, holding back any tears.
When the door closes I collapse on the couch and I stare up at the ceiling. About 10 minutes later my phone begins ringing. "Hello?" I question as I swipe my thumb across the screen.
"School needs to be first." I hear my mom scold as I take a deep breath.
"I know, I know. I just told him about it, I won't be seeing him again." I say as my eyes begin to water.
"You knew the agreement, don't mess it up." She says before quickly hanging up and I stare at my blank phone screen before I get a text from Ale.

I set my phone down on the couch as I get up, going over to the door and I open it. I look down and there's flowers in a vase, and a note attached. I pick them up and bring them in, setting them on the counter as I grab the note.
I quickly read it as I set it down against the counter and I grab my phone immediately texting him back.
