Hey guys! I know I keep saying this but dang, its been a while since I posted. I keep intending on coming back to this, but keep forgetting.
This chapter is mostly come stuff I wrote out previously and forgot to post.
So, some more thoughts on Stellarlune.
About the storehouse burning:
WHY was everyone upset at Sophie for burning the storehouse. Their complaints were entirely unreasonable. Admittedly, they could have taken more stuff, and avoided BURNING THE ARCHETYPE( yes, I was internally crying when that happened), but they had to act fast before the neverseen came. Some of the stuff would have been useful, but realistically, it was destroy the storehouse, or the neverseen take everything somewhere else.
However, complaints like "there could have been other useful stuff there" are at least moderately reasonable reflections. However, the real annoying thing is when people complained that sophie attacked them and provoked them and started war and "oh no, they're going to attack back now", like has that stopped us before?!?!?! Oh, so are we now just suddenly making moves on the Neverseen? Was it not a problem when we invaded all(or almost all) of their lodestar connected hideouts? Because if I understand correctly, the Black Swan got to A LOT of their hideouts. Or when the Black Swan CAPTURED Gethen and Ruy?? Pretty sure capturing key members is way worse than destroying that hideout. Are we supposed to be docile now? I know the Black Swan has always been more on the "respond" than "attack" side, usually defending rather than making as many moves on their own, but that's not a good thing...
Like, are the groups not at a stage where they attack to attack? Are they supposed to wait for the neverseen to make moves and just deal with it it the meanwhile? Literally anything we do against the neverseen will upset the Neverseen. Should we just disband? I just don't understand?
In any case, while I understand somewhat that the thought behind it is that the neverseen know where we live and all, but there's probably reasons the arent acting on that.
Its one thing to subconsciously have the approach to act only in direct reaction, instead of actually making moves on your own. But to try to act like thats the smart thing to do? Thats foolish reasoning.
book 1: the Black Swan encoruages Sophie to run off to the forbidden cities to capture fire
book 2: the black swan encourages Sophie to run off with the world's most valuable animal to get healed
book3: Sophie and the gang does a bunch of crazy stuff, partly at the encouragement of the black swan.
book 4: Progress to invade Ravagog is only spurred because keefe tries to go himself
so on and so forth. What are the people saying??!?!?
"They know where we live, and can attack us", have they not already?!?!? Unless their plan was to make the neverseen think that sophie and her friends were not a threat, then this makes no difference whatsoever.
Overall, while some people had valid concerns about how sophie executed the situation, most of the objections were bs.
