If only I was a bird,
So I could fly away,
Away from all of the fighting,
Away to better days.
But when I imagine this,
I think, this is no escape.
I will just be hunted, and killed,
Unsaved by a hero in a cape.
If only I was a president,
I would END all of the wars.
I'd clean up the world,
As if it was one of my chores.
But when I imagine this,
I think, this is no escape,
I'd have too many problems to deal with,
Annoying as tangled up tape.
If only I was a rat,
Stuck in the sewers, satisfyingly alone,
Free to do as I wish,
No problems of my own.
But when I imagine this,
I think, this is no escape.
How was I going to live?
With the food I just managed to scrape.
Everyone in the world should try
And all work together,
With each other's special talents,
We could make this world better.
Maybe if this was done,
If we whipped the world into shape,
Maybe, just maybe...
We wouldn't have to escape.
