The next morning
I woke up and noticed that Jacob was gone.
I didn't think much of it since he goes to the gym a lot now.
I decided to just get up and drive to the beach alone.
I hadn't had alone time in a long while so this should be nice.
I slid a dark green jacket over my black sports bra I had slept in, along with black activewear shorts.
I slid my brown converses on before grabbing a matching brown hat and throwing it on.
As I grabbed my keys and bag to leave I realized that it was 5 am so I needed to be quiet.
I crept down the stairs, avoiding any and every creek.
Once I finally got out the front door I let out a sigh. I hadn't realized I was holding my breath the whole time until now.
As I walked to my car I saw that Jacobs was still there.
Weird. He must be in the kitchen or something.
I left the house without a worry and headed to the beach.
*jacobs pov*
I walked back into the room to see her gone.
What the fuck?
Immediately I checked the bathroom but she wasn't there.
..
I grabbed my phone from my pocket and called her without thinking twice.
"Hey" she answered, cheerfully.
I sighed from the relief of worry.
"Hi." I responded.
"Where are you?" I asked, sitting on the bed.
"I'm going to the beach for some alone time" she replied.
"..oh" I said without thinking.
"What's wrong?" She asked, noticing the change of tone.
"Nothing, I was just worried" I said, letting myself slump into the bed.
"Worried?" She questioned.
"Well yeah. I mean I leave the room to get a drink and when I come back my girlfriend is gone. Of course I was worried" I said.
She chuckled before I heard what sounded like her engine shutting off.
"I'll let you enjoy your alone time." I said with a small smile.
"I'll see you in a bit" she replied.
"I love you" I stated.
"Okay!" She said cheerfully.
Huh.
"I said I love you!" I said annunciating my words more.
"I know" she replied. I could hear the smile in her voice.
"Y/n." I said lowly.
"Yes?" She questioned.
"I love you." I stated.
She laughed before replying.
"I love you more Jacob"
I felt myself smile at her words.
She hung up the phone before either of us said anything else.
I guess I just go back to sleep then.

*your pov*
As I walked through the sand I saw a couple not too far down the way with a child that seemed to be around 3 or 4.
He was cute. Really red hair that matched his fathers. Freckled skin that matched his mothers.
I wonder why they're here so early?
"I see one!" The boy yelled, excitedly.
He ran to some random spot in the sand and picked up a small item.
I thought it was just some shell so I wasn't as intrigued until he held the small item up.
It was a shark tooth.
And a pretty big one to say the least.
My eyes widened at the object and I saw the boys smile grow even wider when his dad had gotten equally excited.
He ran to the boy, kneeling down in front of him.
"That's a big one bud!" He smiled widely.
I noticed they both had dimples. It was so cute how kids were literally mini versions of their parents.
I wonder if Jacob actually wants kids.
No that's absurd.
He was just joking that night right?
Why am I even thinking about this?
I snapped out of my thoughts and continued my walk.
As I walked pass the few I felt something tap my leg.
I spun around to see the small red haired boy standing before me.
"Oh! Hello!" I smiled.
He froze up.
"H-hi" he stuttered.
"I uhm... I... I wanted to uhm. I wanted to give you dis" he said shyly as he held his arm out.
He opened his palm revealing a small but beautiful pearl in his hand.
I was taken aback by the small object.
"That's gorgeous!" I smiled, kneeling to get on his level.
"Yeah... my daddy bought it at that store with the Shelly fish" he beamed.
I looked to the couple, the mom was laying down tanning but the dad was staring right at us with a warm smile on his face.
He gave me a nod as a way of saying 'it's okay to take it' and so with that I did.
Carefully I held my hand out to him and he dropped it into my hand.
"My... my dad said that I should... give you dis because... because when you see.. uhm.. daddy what did you say again?" He asked turning to his dad.
"I said you should give it too someone who matches its beauty" he smiled.
"Yeah.. dat" The boy said as he looked back at me.
I felt my smile grow wider.
"You know, thats the best thing anyone has ever said to me" I simply stated.
The boy turned to his dad with the widest smile.
His dad just smiled right back at him.
"Can I give you a hug?" He asked.
"Of course" I smiled.
He practically jumped into my arms.
He hugged me for a good minute before pulling away with a smile.
"Have a good day miss" he said.
I watched as he turned around and walked back to his dad.
His dad waved to me before tending to the kid.
I turned around and continued walking. That smile never left my face.

It's been a couple of hours since the interaction with the kid and I was back home now, laying in bed with Jacob.
But I hadn't stopped thinking about what he had said at the lake house.
'What if we just... had a kid?'
It's an insane theory I know.
But some part of me wants to.
It'd be so fun to raise the little one in this house with Harper and Bryce here.
We're only 20 but my parents had me when they were 20... so it's fine right?
They ended up just fine.
And I mean look at me. I'm thriving.
...
Maybe I talk to mom about it...
Yeah that's logical.
I pulled out my phone and opened my text messages with mom.
'I'm coming over later I need some motherly advice :)' I texted.
She sent back a thumbs up with a heart and left the conversation at that.
"You okay?" Jacob asked.
"Yeah... fine" I replied forcing a smile.
He stared for a moment. As if he was reading my thoughts this whole time.
"What's up?" He asked, shifting his body to face me.
I stared back at him for a moment. Contemplating bringing the topic up.
"I just... I can't stop thinking of what you said in the lake house.." I confessed, looking away from him.
"What? About having a kid?" He questioned with a small smile.
I nodded in response and out the corner of my eye I saw his smile widen ever so slightly.
"Part of me is starting to want to but part of me is telling me it's a stupid idea." I stated, feeling defeated by my own thoughts.
"I think it'd be great" he shrugged.
"Well of course you do, your the one who brought it up" I rolled my eyes, shoving him playfully.
He chuckled before wrapping his arm around me.
"I only want to try if you do" he said.
I let myself relax into his arms.
I didn't reply I just took in what he had said.
"I'm going to talk with my mom about it first" I stated.
"Sounds reasonable" he admitted.

"So what do you want advice on?" Mom asks as she poured champagne into glasses.
"Well... uhm" I mumbled.
She looked at me as she sat down.
"Uh oh" she said lowly.
I stared at her as she sipped her drink.
"Jacob brought up the topic of having a baby..." I started.
Her eyes widened at the statement.
"A baby?" She questioned.
I couldn't read her expressions.
I just nodded before continuing.
"And at first I said no. But today I saw this family and they just looked so happy. I realized that's what I want in life and I part of me wants to wait but another part of me thinks now is the time" I ranted.
"I don't want to do something I'll regret" I added, finishing my sentence.
She stared for a moment.
"If you have a baby now. I will in no way be mad at you for it. Honestly I'd be excited, and I don't know if that's the opposite of what you should do when your 20 year old says they want a baby at such a young age but fuck it." She chuckled.
It gave me some sense of comfort knowing that my mom would support me either way.
"You have to do what your gut tells you" she stated.
"If your gut is saying that now is the time then go for it. If it's telling you to wait a bit cause now isn't the time then listen to it" she continued.
"You know what's best for you." She said pointing at me.
"Whatever your body says is what's right" she smiled.
I stood up and hugged my mom.
I love my mom so much. She's so supportive of everything I do and always has been. Even when my father would put down my wild dreams as a kid she'd stand up for me and tell him that I could do whatever it was I put my mind too.
Whenever a thought about it I would realize that I never really needed my dad.
Not that he would've been there anyway.
But there was never a time where I said 'I need my dad'.
And I'm honestly fine with that.
