Shiva's POV
The blank expression on mithu had an impact on me but it didn't affect my mood. The thought of marrying mithu changed my sour mood into a sweet one.
I went to my family. They were sitting and chatting happily. When they saw me.
"varshu mappillai sir vararu. Inimel namellam kannuke teriyave matom only mithu anni thaan kannuku terivanha" shruthi said to varshu.
"idhu oru noii nu teriyada" varshu asked. Iva enna solla porazho.
"mithu mania" varshu said.
"ohhhhh mmm appo anna ku confirm ah andha noii thaan" shruthi said.
My Amma knocked on their head and said.... "vaai vachutu summa irunga di. Unga anni, anna va thituna kochupa"
"amma neegaluma" I asked smiling.
Amma smiled. Everyone smiled happily. My eyes landed on mithu who was sitting beside Ryan with an indifferent expression.
"shiva utkaru pa" Thatha said. I sat beside him.
"mmm appo kalyanam pathi pesalama" My amma asked.
"nalaiku nalla naazh nalaiku moraiya vandu mithu va ponnu paakurom aprom Engagement date fix panikalam" appa said.
"nalla idea. Engalukum visa date kulla marriage mudinjuta Nala irukum. Sila legal works la mudikanum." mithu's appa said.
I looked at mithu with a smile. She just looked at me and lowered her head.
Then the family started talking about somethings related to our marriage.
I couldn't take my eyes off mithu. She look gorgeous....
Shruthi pinched me.
"ennadi" I asked.
She handed me a kerchief and said "thodachuko romba vazhiyudu"
I looked away embarrassed.
Then we all started doing our routine works. Mithu's Amma didn't leave her hands which made me laugh.
That day mithu's family took her home quite earlier than usual.
I went to my Amma and asked "amma mithu yen seekram kezhambita"
Amma twisted my ears and asked "konjam neram kooda pakama iruka matiya da"
"amma sollunga please" I pleaded.
"nalaiku ponnu paka porom la Adan vezhiya romba Neram iruka venam nu kootitu poitanga." amma said.
"oh" I replied and moved away....
My day went slower than usual. My mind was completely engrossed with the thoughts of mithu. I took out my phone and looked at the pictures we clicked together.
That beautiful eyes which speaks thousands of words. That cute smile just like of babies. Her naughtiness like kids..... That love in her eyes everything about her is a treasure for me. She is my treasure the treasure which I almost lost.
We all reached home early keeping in mind the arrangements we have to make for tomorrow.
I took part in everything and bought all the things my Amma asked me to buy...
At the end of the day. I lied on my bed recalling each and every moment of us. And my mind flashed those dirty thoughts too. Dirty mind... I reprimanded myself for such thoughts still I couldn't avoid it.
I spent the night sleepless. I tossed and turned on the bed the whole night. I kept on checking on the time.
I really don't know when I dozed off.
"Anna anna mani 12 aagudu....." I heard a voice from distance. I felt someone shaking me.
"anna neram aachu da mani 12 aagudu" i rolled out of the bed and fell down when my sisters shouted in my years.
"huh huh ennachu ennachu naa enga iruken " I asked looking around.
I heard my sisters laughing....
I rubbed my eyes to clear my vision.
"dei Anna enna da night la dreamland LA irundutu ippo thaa thoonguniya" shruthi asked.
"pich thoongitena night la thookame varala eppo thoongunen nu terila" I said.
"sari ellam nangazhe ready panni vachutom ozhunga poi kuzhichittu ready aagitu vaa" shruthi said.
"dress la innum edukala Di" I said.
"Adellam nangazhe edutu vachutom Nee ready aana mattum podum. Ellarum ready unakku thaa waiting " varshu said.
"sari 10 minutes la varen" I said.
"dei anna ponnu paaka thaan porom but please ozhunga kuzhichitu vaa illa gappu thangama mithu unna venam nu solla pora" varshu said.
"odhapen odirunga" I said and they went the room.
I quickly took a shower and groomed myself. I don't dress to impress anyone but today I want to look handsome for my mithu. I liked my sisters' choice. They chose a navy blue shirt and beige pants which looked awesome on me.
I gelled my hair and went downstairs.
"amma anna va paru" I heard my sisters saying.
"shiva azhaga iruka da" amma said. I smiled.
"Amma anna vekkam paduran" varshu said.
"vekkam laa anga vandu patuko ippo kezhambalama neram aagudu" appa said. Nammazha yaarum pugazhda appa ku pudikade.
"polam pa" i said. Finally it's happening....
Mithuna's pov
They decided everything. I couldn't deny the proposal at the same time I couldn't accept it completely I'm confused I'm damn confused.....
Right now I'm wearing my bangles looking at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a dark blue saree with minimal jewelries.
"mithu are you ok" Ryan who was sitting beside me said.
I just nod my head.
"he has already apologized and he has taken everything till here. So you better to forgive him" Ryan said.
"mmm" that's how I responded.
"mithuuuuu" Ryan stretched..
"Ryan let's not talk about it please" I said.
"mithu ma ready ah mappillai veetula irundu vandutanga" amma said.
"mmm sari ma" I replied.
"I'll go and see what's happening " Ryan said and left.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror. Edo manasuku urutikitte iruku..... I couldn't keep myself calm.
"mithu ponnu kootitu vara sonnaga vaa" amma came with the coffee tray.
She handed me that coffee tray. I went to the hall. There was a typical ponnu paakura setup. Shiva, aththa, mama, varshu, shruthi, my family everyone was there. They all looked happy. I smiled for the sake of my family.
"coffee kudu mithu ma" appa said. I did as he said.
I gave coffee to everyone. I looked at their face with a smile but when I reached Shiva that smile was wiped off from face. But the smile of his face really did something inside me but I didn't want to fall for it.
I gave the empty tray to my Amma and sat beside appa.
"ponnuku aada teriyuma" varshu asked all of a sudden.
"ponnuku paada teriyuma" shruthi asked next.
When everyone got shocked hearing her words. I sat there controlling my laughter.
"Yen pa ipdi paakuringa. idhu usual ah padathula kepangala Adan. Naanga eduvum thappa kekalaye" varshu asked looking at her aththa. Aththa glared at her.
"sari nanga eduvum kekala" varshu and shruthi said in chorus.
"mappillai ku edachum kekanuma" My appa asked.
"illa mama" shiva replied. I sat there like a doll when they started talking about the engagement. Everything is happening so fast. They have already fixed the engagement date.
Aththa came to me and placed a strand of jasmine flower on my head. She kissed me on my forehead and said.. "en kanne patrum pola iruku"
I smiled brightly in response.
"mithu nichayadhartham oore bramikura Mathiri nadathanum" Thatha said twisting his mustache.
A smile formed on my lips seeing the people around me happy. But i don't know if I'm happy with this marriage. But I don't wanna stop this marriage as well.
They fixed the date and they even started to talk about which hall they gonna book for the engagement blah blah blah...
It's the time for lunch and I was made to sit beside Shiva. My heart started beating rapidly just like every time I see him.
"mithu" shiva called me. I turned to him.
"azhaga iruka di." he whispered in her ears. The mustache caressed my ears making me turn red.
I blushed...... I looked at him and continued having my food.
"mithu anni yenna inaiku pesave matringa" shruthi asked.
"shruthi avanga ippo kalyana ponnu la so vekkam la varum la Adan idellam namazhe purinjukanum" varshu said.
Both sisters lit up that day.
When they were about to leave. Shiva came to me not caring about the people around us.
"mithu poitu varen" he said and extended his hands for a handshake. I couldn't avoid that. So I extended my hand to him but I didn't see his face.
He scratched my palm making me look at him. As if he was waiting for that moment. He passed a flying kiss, winking at me and went twisting his mustache.
"ohh romance ah" varshu and shruthi teased. I lowered my head and didn't lift my head.
They all left....... My family kept on talking about Shiva and his family.
I was just listening to them with a smile. That's all I can do now.
I went to my bed and lied on it thinking about what will happen next. I closed my eyes for sometime and I gradually fall into deep slumber.
Next day
Since the moment I woke up. I saw my family rushing here and there with some paper and pen. My Amma, paati are telling them something and appa is taking notes of it. That's when I realized my family started making the arrangements for my engagement which will be held on next Wednesday which Is in a week from today.
But the one person they completely failed to notice was me.
Even Ryan joined with appa and thatha to help them with the engagement preparations. So he couldn't notice me either.
I sat on the couch sipping my cup of tea. Suddenly I heard sound of shiva's bike. I turned to the entrance. I saw him getting down from the bike with a smile. That same smile which made me fall in love with him.
"vanga shiva mappillai sir" appa invited him inside with a bright smile .
"epdi irukinga mama" even though Shiva was talking to appa his eyes were on me.
"nalla iruken
But neega kekura kezhvi enna paathu keta Nalla irukum" appa teased him.
"sorry mama mithu va thaan paaka vanden. Amma avazhuku pudicha adhirasam senjanga Adan kuduthutu polam nu vanden" shiva said.
"Inga thaa nikura kudunga" appa said.
Shiva came to me and extended that box to me.
"unaku pudikum nu sulluvela adunalathaan seiya sonnen." he said looking into my eyes. I looked into his eyes.
"thank you" I replied.
"irunga shiva coffee kudichitu polam" appa said. As if he was waiting for it he sat on the couch comfortably.
"anjana coffee potutu vaa ma" appa said.
"5 minutes" amma said and went to the kitchen and I went behind her not before taking a glance of Shiva. He was talking to appa smiling gracefully.
When amma was about to add sugar to the coffee. I stopped her.
"amma shiva ku coffee la medium sugar" I said.
"oho apdiya madam saringa Unga future purushan ku neega sonna mathiriye medium sugar poduren" amma teased me.
"amma" I whined. She ruffled my hair and handed me the coffee cup.
"po shiva mappillai kitta idha kudu" amma said.
"neeye kuduma" I was hesitant to do that.
"mithu" she looked at me squinting her face.
"ok" I took the coffee Cup and went to the hall. But only Shiva was there appa has gone out it seems.
I handed him the coffee cup. He patted the seat beside him.
I sat there and started looking around.
"ennachu mithu. Indha kalyanam pudikalaya" shiva asked.
"apdi illa summa thaa" I came up with a lame excuse.
"un pudu India number unga appa kitta irundu vangunen. Night call panren" he said.
"Adellam venama. Kalyanam aprom pathukalam" I don't know why I said that. But...
"ok as you wish. Sari kezhamburen. Kovil la nalaiku last day function varuviya" he asked. I saw the eagerness in his eyes.
"amma appa tha mudivu pannuvanga" I said.
He took my hand in his. I got shocked. Because anyone might come.
"nee en pazhaya mithu illa. Ava pesite irupa. You are totally different now mithu. If you want to talk about anything please ellathayum pesi mudichiralam don't keep anything in your heart and worsen the situation." shiva said.
I sat there silently and when I was about to open my mouth appa came there.
I looked at Shiva helplessly.
" aprom pesalam" he said.
I nod my head. He went back home. I waited for the time to have a conversation with him but I didn't receive a call from him.
The day passed in a swift.....I couldn't even talk to Ryan about it because he got tired handling the arrangements with my appa. So he went to bed early.
I lied on my bed and took my phone in my hand. I thought for a while and called Shiva. The call I'm making after almost 2 years.
I was about to hang up but he picked up the phone.
Phone conversation
Me: hello...
Shiva : mithu I'm sorry ippo pesa mudiyadu naa ippo chennai poitu iruken.
Me: chennai ah
Shiva : office la oru urgent work adhan apdiye Engagement ku leave vanganum.
Me: pesanum adan call panren.
Shiva : OK naa time kedaikum bodu koopdren.
Me: eppo varuva
Shiva : Engagement ku anga irupen. OK naa ippo call cut panren.
He didn't wait for my response and hung up the call.
I looked at phone aimlessly.
I threw my phone on the other side of the bed and closed my eyes.
Days passed... My attempts to talk to Shiva didn't yield anything. Whenever I call him either he reject the call or reply with a message "call you later" but he never calls back.
Tomorrow is my engagement. I still have a doubt whether he will show up or cheat me like he did before....
Amma, paati, thatha, appa, shiva's family all are quite excited for the engagement. Thatha has invited everyone in the village. But I'm scared thinking about all the negative things.
I'm not a pessimist still I don't know when I start behaving like one.
The clock ticked. I looked at the time. 1.am.
I was lying on my stomach and thinking about my life..... My phone vibrated.
I took it in my hand and noticed it was a call from Shiva.
I picked it up...

Shiva: hello sorry mithu ippo thaa Oor ku vandu senden. Romba neraya work load Adan pesa mudila. Work complete PAnna thaa leave sanction pannuven nu solitanga adan di sorry.
( I felt relaxed hearing his voice. On top of that he didn't cheat me this time *painful smile *)
Me: paravala.
Shiva : pesanum nu sonila.
Me: mmm nalaiku engagement munnadi pesa mudiyuma.
Shiva :. Mm OK. Mandapam la vachu Engagement nala early ah vanduruken. Appo anga vachu pesalam.
Me: mm OK.
Shiva : tired ah iruku thoonga poren. Nalaiku pakalam. Good night
Me: good night.
Phone conversation ended
Engagement munnadi ellam pesiranum. I can't get into a commitment without clearing everything......
