I don't regret the sacrifices I made for you. I regret the ones I never made.
In every small town,
Like our own,
There's the kid who talks big,
And wishes to take on the world.
I was that kid.
But I'm glad I never left,
With my father,
Or when my older brother,
Said we should escape our mother together.
I'm glad I stuck it out,
With you and my other friends too.
Our adventures were glorious,
Freezing our feet over the frozen winter lake,
Playing games like;
Who's lasting longest over this crack?
We played rough,
We played dangerously,
We made mistakes,
We didn't learn from our mistakes,
And I'd like to imagine,
We eventually did.
And one day I forgot entirely that I once dreamed of an escape.
