The following days at Grimmauld Place went rather smoothly, except for Y/N accidentally setting a precious painting on fire.
It belonged to Sirius' Mother, and when it happened, Sirius actually praised Y/N.
Sirius: Your father would've done the same.
He said, laughing, ruffling his hair.
Y/N: Well, it was ugly anyway. Sorry Sirius, but your mother really sucked at choosing paintings.
He stated, making Harry and Ron almost choke on their own saliva.
Currently, Y/N was in the room he shared with Harry and Ron, reading his Hogwarts' letter.
They then heard the faint thud of an object hitting the ground.
They turned around, just to see that Ron looked at his own letter, as if he was paralyzed.
Y/N: Uh... Is everything ok?
He asked, raising a brow.
Ron: I'm prefect.
He said.
Harry And Y/N looked at him.
Harry: Really?!
He said.
Ron slowly nodded.
Y/N: Can I see it?
He asked.
Ron nodded, picking up the badge and giving it to Y/N.
Harry and Y/N were looking at it, when Hermione suddenly came into the room.
She looked at Y/N and smiled widely.
Hermione: I knew it would've been you!
She said.
Y/N shook his head.
Y/N: Actually... It's Ron, not me.
He said, giving the badge back to Ron.
Y/N: No one would ever make me Prefect, and honestly, it's better that way. Too many responsibilities.
He said, smiling.
Hermione: Oh... I thought... Never mind. Congratulations!
She said.
Harry: Congratulations, you two.
He said.
Y/N looked at him.
He snickered a little.
Y/N: You're not good at concealing your feelings, Harry.
He thought.
In that moment, Mrs Weasley came in, carrying a basket full of neatly folded clothes.
When she saw the badge, she pulled Ron in a bone-crushing hug, making his ears go red in embarassment.
Mrs Weasley: Congratulations, Ron! I knew you could do it!
She said, smiling brightly.
Mrs Weasley: And you too, Hermione.
She said.
Hermione: Thank you, Mrs Weasley.
She said, smiling.
Mrs Weasley: We have to celebrate... Yes.
She said, leaving the room, followed by Ron and Hermione.
Y/N sat on his bed, looking at Harry.
Y/N: You're jealous, aren't you?
He asked.
Harry looked away, slowly nodding.
Harry: I'm happy for them, really... But... I thought that at least one of us... Would've become prefect.
He said gloomily.
Y/N: Harry, trust me, it's better like this.
He said, smiling mischievously.
Harry looked at him.
Harry: What do you mean?
He asked, now smiling a little.
Y/N: You see, being a prefect means a lot of responsibilities. If something bad happens, the blame is on you. And if you and I would've been Prefects, we wouldn't be able to have our... Adventures.
He said.
Harry: Well, if you look at it that way... It actually isn't that bad. Yeah, it'll be the two of us, just like the old times.
He said.
Y/N: Yeah... I'm sure this year will be full of surprises.
