After the battle of Haven most of the police of Mistral took care of the white fang, and Ozpin went to talk with the council. Ruby went and knocked on a door and it opened.
Y/n: hi Ruby, what's up?
Ruby was blushing to make Y/n slightly confused and worried.
Y/n: is something wrong?
Ruby: no-no it's... just we're leaving tomorrow and we haven't a lot of time to be alone so... if you want we could go out...on a date?
Y/n: a date? What's that?

Ruby: eh? You don't know what the date is?
Y/n: no...am I supposed to?
Ruby explained in great detail what a date was and after that Y/n had only one thing to say.
Y/n: that sounds kind of dumb, why would we do all that when we can do it inside?
Ruby: there not dumb, just be ready for our date tomorrow.
Y/n nodded his head and Ruby walked off and he closed his door.
Y/n: I still don't know what they are.

Y/n waiting at the door for Ruby and she came down not wearing her sleeves.
Y/n: you're not wearing your top?
Ruby: it's a little hot
Y/n only smiled and took off his top layer to match Ruby and them on their date. none the wiser to Ruby's intentions.
Y/n: so uh where do you go on dates?
Ruby: I have planned for us to go to a couple of places actually. The first place I think you'll like.
Y/n and Ruby stopped in front of a weapon shop. The two went in and Ruby's eyes enlightened at the assortment of weapons. Ruby went and picked one up
Ruby: hey Y/n looked! A fishing hook with a singer rifle.
Y/n turned to hold another weapon.
Y/n woaw!
Ruby looked at the weapon Y/n was holding and their eyes lit up.
Ruby: oh looks like you found a weapon that suits you the best.
Y/n looked a little said and turned away.
Y/n: Really but I really like my weapon, you think it doesn't suit me?
Ruby: oh no. I didn't mean it like that, just that if you didn't have that one.
Y/n: oh.
The two spent a long 2 hours in the shop but only came out with a couple of dust rounds.
Y/n: what's the next part of the date?
Before she could finish her stomach grumbled.
Y/n: I guess that's nice to stop now?
The two began walking through the city of Mistral looking for a stand or restaurant. Until they found a small restaurant. they sat at a corner table and talked.
Waiter: hello, I'll be your Waiter, what can I get you two?
Ruby: can I have the number 9, with a strawberry sunrise?
Y/n: I guess I'll also have a number 9, with lemon water.
Waiter: alright you wait here I'll have your orders ready in a bit, any starters?
Y/n: how about, bean sprouts?
Waiter: ok, I'll be right back with your orders.
The Waiter left and the two sat there.
Ruby: so Y/n, can I ask you something?
Y/n: hmm?
Ruby: why did you want to become a Huntsman?
Y/n rested his head in his hand and thought about it for a moment.
Y/n: hmm, I don't think I gave it much thought, I guess you can say it's because i grew up around them, but I my personal reason because I don't want people to be sad or in pain, and if they are then I can just make it all better.
Ruby jiggled at his simple reason but noble reason, making him smile.
Y/n: why did you want to be one?
Ruby: to be like a hero, like in the fairy tales.
Y/n chuckled softly at her reason and lowered his head and voice.
Y/n: well we are on this, great adventure filled with magic, and other things people could only dream of.
They both laughed at this comment and still wait for their food and it became a little game.
Ruby: what's your favorite food?
Y/n: I like this type of dessert called melon bread, it's fluff and sweet, what's Yours?
Ruby: love strawberries.
Y/n: I would have never guessed, I thought you loved cookies.
Ruby: nope, there is a close second. It's your turn to ask one.
Y/n:... what's it like growing up?
Ruby looked down at her cup and looked at her reflection.
Ruby: when I was still really little my mom died, my dad's a teacher at Signal. So it was just me and Yang for a while.
Y/n: oh... sorry for bringing it, forget I asked-
Ruby: no it's ok, it was still great, I hand my uncle, he was the best teacher.

Ruby: ok maybe he wasn't the best but he was still a great teacher. What was it like growing up?
Y/n: oh I don't remember a lot about my parents or if I had any siblings. I just used it as a form of entertainment for a while before Mary and her team saved me, and they practically raised me. Although I wish they let us do things like go to school, have a walk through town.
The two just stayed silent until their food came which they ate paid and left. The sun was about to go down. So they decided to head back but on the way, they found a large and thin dog.
A/n: any other context besides the story, f*** these dogs.
Ruby: aw poor dog...
Y/n frowned at the dog and went to a nearby fountain and cup his hands gathering water.
Ruby: Y/n I don't think that's safe.
Y/n assured her that it was fine and he kneeled down in front of the dog. It growled at him but he offered him the cupped hand water... the dog hesitantly started drinking. This made Ruby come a little closer and touched its shaggy fur as the two smiled.

The couple opened the door to the house.
Ruby: we're back.
Ruby announced their presence but the house was still empty.
Y/n: huh maybe there still out.
Ruby: the date isn't over yet, silly.
Y/n: huh?
Ruby: come to my room in twenty minutes.
Y/n: um okay?
Ruby went upstairs leavening Y/n slightly confused.
**** twenty minutes later ****
y/n in his pajamas knocked on Ruby's door.
Ruby: come in~
Y/n opened the door and saw something very surprising.
Y/n: what's going on?
Ruby: we have really slept together in a while, and though you were still having nightmares, I thought it'd be the perfect time to do it.
Y/n didn't say anything and simply got into bed. He laid his head on her lap and began petting her head. It was soothing enough to gain a purr from Y/n, but Ruby eventually got curious and touched his ears. Y/n shoot up and held his ears.
Ruby: oh my... I am so sorry, I should have asked.
Y/n: no I-It's fine, my ears are just sensitive that's all.
Y/n looked at Ruby's face and she was a blushing mess.
Y/n: i-if you want... you can touch them.
Ruby: r-really?
Y/n: Mary is usually the one who touches them...but if it's you I don't mind.
Ruby then remembered what back at the Vital Festival and thought it really wouldn't before if she was the only one touching something.
Ruby: I-I guess you can touch me too.
Y/n: Okay...go to town then.
Ruby: could you close your eyes then?
Y/n closed his eyes and then heard the wrestling of clothing.
Ruby: you can open them now...
Y/n opened his eyes and saw that Ruby had shed a few more layers

Ruby: okay I guess we should start then.
Y/n tilted his head down and Ruby began touching Y/n ears gaining a few breaths him from, while Y/n on the other hand... was holding her hand. This wasn't very exciting for Ruby, think a little bit more in the gutter. Until once again notice a bit of scaring under his collar.
Ruby: hey...
Y/n: * shaky breath* hmm?
Ruby: can you take off your collar?
At that moment Y/n's blood ran cold at the question. His hand traced his collar.
Y/n: Ruby I'm not sure it's a good idea.
Ruby: please...
That single word devastated Y/n and Ruby looked at his face and saw a pour melancholic smile. Y/n began undoing his collar and tears ran down his face. The collar fell to the bed, and Ruby covered her mouth seeing the horrible scar that circled his neck.
Ruby: what...what happened.
Y/n: remember earlier today when I said that I spent a bit of my life as entertainment...well... I and three others tried escaping... we got caught I took the blame ...and... this was done to show selfish and ugly I was for even thinking of leaving.
Ruby reached out to him but he got off the bed and went to the door.
Y/n: I'm sorry I ruined our date... I'll understand if you hate me now.
Ruby: Y/n wait!
Ruby grabbed his hand much to his confusion.
Y/n: why-why, I should how ugly and selfish I- mph!
Ruby silenced him with her lips and he was under to anything. She part from him and looked at him straight.
Ruby: y/n, you are nothing like that, you are such a caring and sweet person, I won't let you insult yourself... that's why...I love you.
Y/n eyes went wide and his lips agape.
Y/n: you...love me?
Ruby nodded her head and tear went down his face, unable to voice how he felt at this moment.
Y/n: can you... say it again...please?
Ruby: I love you.
Y/n: again...please?
Ruby: I love you.
Y/n: one more time... is that ok right?
Ruby: I say it as many times as I need to.
Y/n smiled at her and wiped tears from his face.
Ruby: there's that cute face I know~!
Y/n turned away again blushing with his cheeks turning bright pink.
Y/n: I-I'm not cute...
Ruby placed a hand on his cheek turning him to face her.
Ruby: cute or not...I love you, not because of that scar, but for you as a person...let me show you~
Once again he was confused but Ruby pulled him into a deep and very passionate kiss away from the door and onto the bed.
