(Nightmare POV)
'How did it come to this?' is what I thought as I stared at killer who was clinging onto me while hissing at the others, giving them all the middle finger as he kept saying he wasn't gonna let someone take me from him. It all started after sci left to do who knows what and left while promising to give me back my crown later. Once sci had left everything went into a peaceful silence until killer swam up to me suddenly while claiming I was gonna be his mate no matter what sci or his higher-ups said, obviously not giving a shit about the consequences.
"If any of you wanna challenge me then come at me, I will defend my position as boss's future mate!" Killer declared as he still clung to my arm, luckily for him I was in a good mood since I would have a chance to see dream and didn't mind killer's idiotic act...for now. "Relax will ya? We ain't planning to take your mate!" Murder said while staring at killer with a hint of exasperation. "And how am I supposed to trust what you say?" Killer asks while narrowing his eye sockets at Murder who pinched his nasal while looking at killer with a look that says 'you gotta be kidding me right now' obviously not wanting to deal with killer any longer, Murder just asked killer to trust his word to which killer resigned with one last warning glare towards the other mers before sitting down on the sandy floor.
(A day later-)
(Nightmare POV)
I was currently glaring at killer who just snatched a fish from my pile of freshly dead fish meat and shoved it into his mouth. Swallowing it while grinning at my annoyed expression, killer instantly regretted what he did when he went flying across the tank and into the other mers beside era. Next thing you know, they're all a pile of flailing limbs and tail fins, while I watched with a satisfied expression I noticed era swimming over to me and while I didn't really care, I was curious on why he was approaching me. Perhaps he's not happy I just tossed killer into his pile of mer friends?
When era was just a few feet away from me, he did something I wasn't expecting. He...leaned towards my face and touched me? Not expecting that, I look at him in confusion and slight curiosity on what he was doing. "I really don't see the resemblance." Era said while turning my face side to side. "Wнαт?" I ask, confusion clear in my tone. "You don't look a bit like dream. He has white bones and yellow eye lights. Dream is also a different aquatic species from you so I really don't get how you're blood related, not to mention twins, you don't look like his twin at all." Era say's while letting go of me as he dodges killer who swam over at top speed when he saw how close era was to me.
"How do yoυ ĸɴow dreαм?!" I ask or more like demand as I stare at era who simply grinned slightly at my question. "I happened to meet him awhile back, we were in the same tank for awhile before they moved him to a higher branch." Era say's casually as he watches my expression for any change, when I didn't show much of a reaction except for a frown while looking deep in thought, he felt a little disappointed he didn't get any entertaining reaction out of me.
'Dream, he got moved to another branch again? But why? Why is it each time I get closer to finding him I also get farther away?! Plus, why was dream taken to another branch when I'm gonna see him soon? Maybe they thought I would attack dream because I would be mad at him for the positivity attack? Or maybe they thought I wouldn't recognize dream? So many questions and theories and yet no answer to confirm.' I thought in frustration and confusion, letting out a annoyed growl, my tentacles sway around me due to my emotions getting the better of me before freezing when a thought came to mind. 'What if...They don't agree with what I told sci and aren't planning to bring me dream back? No, that won't happen. They wouldn't lie, right?...oh who am I kidding? Of course they would lie! All of them are nothing but filthy liers!' I thought as my negativity grew and my tentacles started to thrash about with no actual target or direction in mind.
While I was lost in thought, I didn't notice era and the others dodging my tentacles that were thrashing about wildly. "Hey boss! As much as I love this dodging training, I think you should stop now!" Killer yells to me which in turn makes me glare at him before stopping when I notice something that I hit. Tentacles stopping, they go back to my side while I stare down at the huge chunk of shark meat that just presented itself in front of me from above the tank. Looking to my right, I see that sci had entered into the lab room when I was lost in thought and had pulled a lever that dropped the chunk of fresh dead shark meat in front of me.
Staring at the meat, I contemplate if I should eat it or not while looking at sci in suspicion. 'what if he drugged the meat?' I thought while my look at sci turned into a distrustful glare. Sci, on the other side of the tank, looked at me in confusion and didn't seem to get why I was glaring at him before he seemed to realize what he thought the problem was. "Nightmare, I know you don't wanna stay in there and I know you want to see dream but you gotta wait, that request of yours takes time to consider y'know? Plus the higher-ups are kinda busy so it's gonna take awhile before we get a response from them." Sci said while surprisingly not stuttering, hearing what sci just said, I stared at him in confusion before realizing what that meant. 'So there is a possibility I won't be able to see dream...' I thought while my mood plummeted even more than before.
(Era POV)
'I know I wanted a reaction out of nightmare because I thought it would be entertaining but this wasn't what I was expecting.' I thought as I stared at nightmare who's mood seemed to plummet from sci's words. 'Should I help?' I wondered as I saw the dark glint in nightmare's eye light that was directed towards sci before focusing on killer who decided it was a good time to bother their precious 'boss'. Before I could ponder any further, I was interrupted by the sound of a pained scream coming from Hunter, snapping my attention to him, my gaze darkens when I see that nightmare had a tentacle crushing hunters rib cage.
Turning my attention to nightmare, I growl in warning at nightmare to let go of hunter but frowned when I noticed nightmare didn't hear me since he was distracted with killer. Eye lights turning into slits, I glare at nightmare while letting out a loud animalistic growl in warning and I could feel the lower half of my body changing to that of a eel, to which nightmare immediately notices. Turning his attention to me, nightmare growls back while tossing hunter to the side like a broken toy that he had no interest in anymore. While I had nightmare distracted, I failed to notice that his and my collars were flashing in red meaning we were about to get shocked if we didn't stop showing hostility towards each other.
Now you see, one of the functions of this collar was if you showed too much hostility towards another living being, you would get shocked and depending on how much hostility you are showing means however much you will get shocked. And since both me and nightmare were showing high levels of hostility towards each other, we were about to get shocked. If it was any normal mer that showed high levels of hostility like me and nightmare, their shock would be doable since they would either be paralyzed for a month or so. Unfortunately and fortunately for me and nightmare, we weren't normal mers so the pain would be worse but luckily both me and octomare here, we would live but we would unfortunately deal with annoying aches of pain for a whole week.
At first it was just a little warning shock which I ignored before freezing and then shrieking in pain when high volts of electricity went through my body, nightmare seemed to be experiencing the same thing as me from the sound of his angry and in pain screeches. While we were getting electrocuted as punishment, we didn't see the horrified looks on the other mers faces nor did we see sci's eye sockets widen in worry and horror at what was happening.
The electricity was a medium white color like white lightning and it burned at my bones and tail fins, except if I were to look over at nightmare, I would see he had it much worse as his glowed such a bright white color it was almost blinding to look at, not to mention it hurt like hell! 'I hope this ends soon.' is what I thought before my mind temporarily shut down from the pain.
