CHAPTER LVIII

It's fun.

Sophie's place was adorned with a minimum of human presence. Lucy spotted not even a single soul on her way in.

The corridor was in pin drop silence and the sound of her heels echoed against the cemented floor.

She let her eyes roam all over the place, taking the details in as the corridor ceased and a courtyard emerged with an adjoined doorway.

She twisted the door knob, slowly opening the door ajar.

"Who is it?" a feminine voice called out as Lucy continued to traverse deeper into the house, heading towards what she could recognise as the kitchen.

"Sophie Deveraux." Lucy said calmly as she reached the threshold of the kitchen where Sophie was standing defensively with a butcher knife in her hand raised for attack.

"Lucy." she said emotionlessly, lowering the knife. "Hello. What brings you here?"

"You're Sophie Deveraux, right?" Lucy repeated.

"Yes, I'm Sophie Deveraux. We finally meet officially. The last time we met, you weren't in the right headspace for introductions."

"Well, now that you're sure that you are Sophie Deveraux, the witch who kidnapped me and is linked to me," Lucy said, stepping towards her, "and is blackmailing me and my family for help. . ."

Lucy paused before she violently grabbed Sophie by her hair, craning her neck back, as she herself ignored the pain that shot up through the back of her neck.

"What the hell!?" Sophie gritted in pain. "You psychotic bitch! Aren't you feeling your nails digging into your skull?"

"Endurance, my dear, endurance." Lucy tsked. "And how dare you blackmail me? How dumb of you to even think that your stupid plan is going to work."

"It's going to fail. And that too drastically." Lucy smiled evilly at her, finally letting go, as she pocketed the hair she had acquired.

"I don't care what you think." Sophie spit out, massaging her paining neck. "My plan is going to work. And even if it doesn't, I don't care, I'll be dead then, just reunited with my sister."

"If you're missing your sister so damn much, you just have to ask." Lucy chuckled. "I'm more than happy to do the honours, but well, of course not before you unlink me from yourself."

"Stupid of you to even say that." Sophie laughed. "No one's getting unlinked until my terms are fulfilled. And don't even think of getting it done from an outside witch. This is ancestral magic. Only me or the people of my coven could unlink you. And as far as I'm aware, no one is going to risk their life doing that for you."

"Don't sound so cocky." she scoffed, her fists curling as she realised Bonnie's magic won't work. "I'm sure a parent will be obliged to do that even if it means giving up their life to save their child's."

"Our coven knows what this all means. Nothing before the coven." Sophie stated. "I'm sure you must be aware of that at least."

"Oh, god," Lucy sighed, annoyed, "you're annoying, you know that? Anyway, don't get on my nerves. I'll unlink us one way or the other, no matter how much your coven members love their 'coven'."

"Okay." she nodded, sarcasm dripping from her body language.

"Listen, you," Lucy spitted out, harshly grabbing her arm, as she felt the similar pain shoot up her arm, "don't you dare even think that I'm the one at your mercy. You are the one who needs help running the vampires out of town. So, keep that bloody tongue of yours in control before I forget to cooperate, because like you said I'm a 'psychotic bitch'."

She just clenched her jaw, keeping her words to herself as Lucy let go of her. "I want my car keys. I stabbed one of you with it in the hand yesterday."

"That was Agatha." she said after a pause, "I'll get her."

"Good." Lucy smiled sarcastically as Sophie exited.

She sighed to herself, caressing her arm to subdue the pain spreading across it.

Sophie returned in a minute or two with Agatha by her side.

"So?" Lucy questioned when none of them said anything immediately.

"You left the keys." Agatha began.

"Yeah, and?"

"But the car is no longer with me."

"What do you even mean?"

"I sold it."

"What?!" she exclaimed. "Oh my god, why would you even do that?!"

"When Marcel's inner crew sets eyes on something you have, you don't talk back, girl, you just give it."

"Alright." Sophid sighed, exasperated. "Agatha, just give her his name and number or maybe an address. Anything that you have."

"Diego. Pretty much everyone knows him."

"Oh, god. Thank you very much." she muttered sarcastically.

"I want my car back." Lucy stated the moment Niklaus picked her phone up, already on her way out.

"What happened, love?"

"Someone named Diego from Marcel's inner circle took my car from that witch."

"It's alright, love, we'll get the same model again."

"No, it's a limited edition, and my stuff's in it too." Lucy said calmly, as she stepped out of the building, her eyes falling onto Nik's car already standing there.

"Besides, I won't like it if some other man finds my lingerie. God knows what obscenities he'll imagine with them." she said, her tone a total serious one as she looked over at him, who was yet to notice her, from a distance.

Lucy smirked to herself as his jaw clenched.

"Get in the car, Lucy." he muttered, turning his head to meet her eyes. "Stop saying stuff just to piss me off."

"Your wish is my command, captain." she said in a sing-song voice, ending the call as she began walking towards the car.

"What are you doing?" Niklaus asked as she pulled open the door of the driver's seat.

"Scoot over a little." she smiled, climbing onto his lap as she straddled him.

"So, Mr. Mikaelson," she began, her mannerisms kittenish, as her fingers played with curls of his nape, "my mood was totally spoiled by the time I exited that building, but just seeing you pissed off like that brings me so much satisfaction. It's fun."

"Your boots are muddy." he said with narrowed eyes, followed by a smirk. "It's ruining my seat."

"Mhmhm." she nodded, leaning forward to kiss his lips and purposely biting on the lower one, "You're a dick, you know that?"

"A dick that you love," he said smugly, crossing his hands behind his head in a casual manner and leaning back. "And that dick's dick that you worship."

"Oh, please," she scoffed, "we both know who worships who. No need to fool anyone here."

"Oh, really, is that so," he raised a brow, tone joking and amused as he pulled her in by the waist, the seat reclining back, and he began to pepper kisses along her jawline, "I don't see you not-worshipping me when you scream my name."

"Let's not talk about worshipping when you're already so hard against me." she whispered smugly into his ear eliciting a groan as her hand travelled down his chest to rub at his penis.

"Alright, alright," he said finally, throwing his head back, "let's go home now. I don't want any passerby to look at us while we're doing it. We can do it tonight."

"Okay." she shrugged, giving him a last long kiss, before she shifted to the adjoining seat, fixing her hair and clothes.

"So," he let out a loud breath, probably breathing out the sexual tension, "you got her hair?"

"I did. But it's useless." Lucy shrugged. "It's ancestral magic. Only someone from her coven can break it."

"We'll find a witch and get it done. Don't worry." Niklaus suggested as he began backing the car out. "Also, I was thinking of introducing you to Marcel sometime today. Better that he tells all his crew that you're off limits."

Her face fell at the mention of Marcel, but she managed to cover it up in time.

"Oh, come on," she whined, throwing her head back dramatically, "I want to sleep now. Visiting Sophie is enough work for today. Maybe sometime later."

"Alright, tomorrow then," he nodded understandingly, before he switched his voice to a childlike one. "Momma's gonna rest now. You're tiring her out, little bean?"

"Oh, yes, she is." Lucy laughed.

"She?" Niklaus raised a brow. "It could be a he too."

"I just know." she smiled to herself, hand caressing stomach, "it's gonna be a girl. Our precious little girl."

◇◇◆◇◆◇◇

Lucy was bored after the three hours of nap she had taken in order to delay meeting Marcel. The sun had already set and it was about to strike nine o'clock too. But Niklaus was yet to be back, or more precisely, way too far from being back. And more importantly, ignoring her calls, and responding with just a simple text of 'back soon'.

Therefore, reasonably so, she was pissed.

The house was maze-like but Lucy still managed to traverse her way to the front door when around half an hour later, the doorbell rang. Obviously not Niklaus. He never rings the doorbell.

She cautiously reached the door, her hand resting on the doorknob, other holding a poker for defence, as she called out in the gruffest voice she could muster, "Who?"

"Rebekah Mikaelson. Now open the damned door."

"You." Lucy stated with narrowed eyes on opening the door. "You are here?"

"Don't be so surprised." Rebekah tsked, walking past her into the mansion as Lucy bolt-shutted the door behind her, "Elijah was bugging me to come. But then he suddenly stopped answering me. And then, Nik calls me here. How could I miss investigating such an ordeal?"

"I told him specifically not to." Lucy glowered.

"Don't be so pissed." Rebekah said in a carefree tone. "I thought I'll see a supernatural, miracle baby bump by now. But I guess that's not the case."

"You just get pulled to New Orleans like a magnet don't you, hmm?" Lucy crossed her arms. "You and your boyfriend, oops, ex-boyfriend."

Rebekah's face fell this time as she scoffed. "Stop being so rude. I hadn't done anything to you."

"Questionable." Lucy raised a sarcastic brow. "This city, you and your boyfriend, deadly combination. Just brings back awful memories, you know."

Rebekah gulped, anger flooding to her face nevertheless, "Where's Nik?"

"I need to know what he's done to Elijah." she muttered, traversing deeper into the house, before shouting out, "Klaus! Get out here and tell me what you've done with our brother, you narcissistic, backstabbing wanker!?"

"He's not home." Lucy said lazily. "A major reason as to why I'm pissed and is thoroughly more pissed by your entry in this house."

"Get your bags, take whatever room you want except the one you'll find already occupied, obviously, and freshen up," Lucy said, more calmly and respectfully this time, "then maybe go look for him. And when you do find him, make sure to mention how angry I am at him and that he should forget all about what we planned."

"You planned?" she asked slowly, "Don't tell me you mean this baby."

"Of course not," Lucy scrunched up her nose, "it's something else, he'll understand."

"Well, um, okay." Rebekah muttered, still perplexed.
