"One hat." The commodante began, a smug smile on his face. "One belt. And two boots. Once a symbol of honour." As he put the boots away, something toppled out. "One bottle of catnip!" He exclaimed.
"Uh...it is for my glaucoma." Puss said sheepishly.
~Meanwhile~
"Y/N, let's go. We finished the mission and we got the gold." Kitty said.
"I don't want to." You huffed.
"What?! But if we don't leave soon, all of San Ricardo will be destroyed. C'mon, we don't wanna die, now do we?" She replied.
"I'm going back for Puss." You said.
"What?! Why?" She asked, a look of shock on her face.
"I-I.." You stuttered, not really sure what to say.
"You love him?" Kitty asked. You were shocked.
'How does she know? Can she read minds?' You thought.
"Y/N, I've seen that dreamy look before. Now, if you really do love him, hurry up. I'll see if I can find Humpty." She said and she ran off. You quickly made your way over to the prison. You crept around in the shadows, and saw where the commodante put Puss' belongings. You waited till he left, and you snuck over, picking the locks and retrieving his possessions. You held onto them, as you slowly creeped towards the guards, who were at their stations. You heard a cat meow nonstop, and you assumed it was Puss. You saw the guard open his cell, and you took the chance to quickly sprint over there and jump on his shoulders, your paws covering his mouth and nose so that he would pass out. You quickly climbed off and placed his belongings at the door. You saw his head peer out from the door, and an old man as well.
"I hope you can forgive me." You began, but was cut off by the old man.
"Apology accepted!" The old man exclaimed, and ran off.
"I don't really have time for you. I have to save the town from The Great Terror." Puss snapped, and put his boots on.
"Wait, Puss! Don't you see, I'm here because... I am here because you made me realise that there is something I can care about more than gold." You confessed.
"Something?" Puss asked, smirking a little
"Okay, someone. He's about two feet tall, wears high heels." You answered.
"Handsome?"
"He's very handsome."
"A real beefcake?"
"Mmhmm."
"A stallion?"
"Yes."
"Tiger?"
"Oh, brother." You sighed. Puss laughed.
"But, this does not make us even." He said, and a spear landed between you two.
"Freeze!" The guard yelled.
"Yes it does!" You argued with him.
"No, it doesn't." He replied, protracting his claws, which somehow made the guard's pants fall down. You and Puss both leapt on the guard's face, and began running out of the prison.
"I saved you." He said, while kicking a guard's head, and you doing the same. "You owed me one." He kicked a guard in the head and you tripped a guard over. "You didn't tell me about Humpty. So now you owe me two." An elevator came down and lots of guards came out.
"Oh, you are a lot of work." You mumbled, and picked up a spear.
"I know, but I am worth it!" He answered, and you used the spear to pole vault over the guards. He began climbing up the ropes of the elevator, but it was too slow, and every second counted so you cut the rope.
"Now we're even!" You yelled at him. You began fighting all the guards, while Puss made his way to Humpty. Puss made his way up the tower, where he and Humpty used to spend their childhood together. Puss saw Kitty there as well, and he draws his rapier and points it at Humpty.
"I shall make you into an egg salad sandwich!" Puss growled, pointing his sharp rapier, closer to Humpty's face.
"Aah! That is disgusting!" Humpty yelped, slowly edging away.
"What are you doing here Kitty?" He snarled, pointing his rapier at her as well.
"I'm trying to negotiate with him to get the goose." Kitty explained.
"Give me the goose, Humpty." Puss snapped, his focus back on Humpty.
"We don't have time Humpty!" Kitty added, and she drew her rapier and pointed it at him.
" No can do, I'm afraid. See the mama's on her way and when she gets here, it's bye bye San Ricardo and everything you ever cared about." Humpty said.
"Revenge on me is one thing, but why Imelda? Why the orphanage? This is our home." Puss tried to explain to Humpty, but he wouldn't listen.
"You mean your home. I...I never belonged here. We had a plan to get out of here, but then you became a hero and you picked this place over me. You left me with nothing." Humpty said, sadness evident in his voice.
"Humpty, I'm sorry I hurt you." Puss apologised. "But do not take it out on these people. You are better than this."
"No, I'm not." Humpty mumbled.
"Boys, we better hurry up if you still want San Ricardo to be liveable." Kitty commented from behind them, her rapier now back in its sheath.
"I think it's too late." Humpty said worriedly.
"It is never too late to do the right thing. Together we can save San Ricardo. I can forgive you, Humpty, if you help me now." Puss insisted.
"Really? After everything I put you through." Humpty asked.
"Prove to me there is still a good egg in you." Puss said.
"I'll try." Humpty replied. He found his old hang glider, and strapped the baby to him. Kitty left to go find her sister, while Puss stayed to help Humpty.
"Get the baby over the bridge. I'll get the mother to follow." Puss assured Humpty, and pushed him off the ledge. Puss saw the mama and he jumped off the tower, running as fast as his paws could carry him to catch up to the Mama Goose.
~Meanwhile~
"Kitty, why won't you let me go." You growled, trying to convince Kitty to let you go.
"As the younger sister, I always feel like I'm taking care of you." Kitty grumbled.
"Please, what if Puss is in trouble?" You pleaded.
"No. We got him outta jail, and he and Humpty are saving San Ricardo. Our job is done. Finished." She answered.
"You can leave San Ricardo, but I'm not following you." You replied. "I want to help Puss. Please Kitty."
Kitty smiled sadly. "If this is what you want, I won't stop you. Until we meet again Y/N."
"Until we meet again, Kitty." You said, tears in your eyes. You hugged her one last time, and you left.
~Back to Humpty and Puss~
"Here we are again. Right, Puss?" Humpty asked,
"I will not leave you behind this time, Humpty." Puss answered, tying the ropes together and slowly pulling Humpty up. The rope that is holding the golden goose starts to unravel.
"I'm sorry, Puss. I've made a mess out of everything. I'm a rotten egg! I'm not...I'm not a person, I'm not a bird, I'm not even a food. I don't know what I am." Humpty bawled.
"You are what you have always been, my brother." Puss replied. You jumped over the fallen pieces of the bridge.
"Puss!" You yelled happily.
"Y/N!" His ears immediately perked up. "Come help me." You focused on the golden goose, while Puss focused on Humpty. You pulled the goose up, until you realised that Humpty's rope was going to snap any moment. You quickly went over to help, but it was too late.
"Puss!" He yelled, before falling down.
"Humpty!" Puss looks down the end of the bridge to look for Humpty's body but instead sees a golden egg lying on a rock. "Humpty, I always knew that you were good inside." The giant mother goose took her baby and the golden goose and flew off. "Goodbye, Humpty." Puss whispered, and he took his hat off in respect, while you lowered your head. Puss enters San Ricardo, while the people thanked him.
"Give me one sec. I have to see someone." He told you. You nodded, and walked to the Glitter Box, entering the familiar shabby curtains.
"I'll miss you Kitty." You whispered sadly, and packed up anything at you found that belonged to you or Kitty. You walked back out to see all sorts of weapons being thrown at Puss. You jumped up, and you dodged all the spears thrown at you. You ran towards the port, where you had your boat ready to sail off to a place you found called Far, Far away. You were planning to stay one last night in the Glitter Box before you set sail the next morning.
"I will see you again, Y/N Softpaws." Puss said with a smirk on his face.
"Sooner than you think." You answered. Puss looks down and sees his boots are missing and looks across at you as you hold up his boots.
"She is a bad kitty." He teased and you blew him a kiss and jumped off, to make sure your boat was ready.
~Timeskip~
You were in the Glitter Box, having a few cups of leche, until a familiar ginger cat stepped in.
"Shall we have this dance?" He asked, holding up his paw.
"Yes." You answered. When you finished, he pulled you in closer for a kiss. You grabbed his hat to cover it, while you kissed him.
"Te amo." He whispered to you. (Translation: I love you.)
"Yo también te amo mi caballero." You replied, kissing his cheek. (Translation: I love you too, my knight.)
