The next morning Isla woke up in her own bed, accompanied with an aching headache. She took a quick, still cold, shower, which didn't help with her hangover the way she wished. After she got ready she went back to her bedroom, noticing how it was the only room in the small house that looked somewhat decent.
Letting out a deep groan, she grabbed one of her "painkillers" from her secret stash and walked outside.
About to light the joint in her hand, Isla walked onto her front porch to notice her brother seated in one of the chairs, ironically holding a blunt between his fingers as well.
"Jesus Christ Alan, you scared me."
Isla let out a deep breath, noticing the dark circles underneath his eyes.
"What's up, lil sis?"
He said casually, taking a hit from his joint.
"Shouldn't you be at work?"
She asked, not feeling like small talking.
As impossible as it seemed, Isla's brother did have a job. It wasn't anything too chic of course, just a simple job at the local grocery store, but at least he had money for food and bills whenever Isla was too busy with school to work as well.
"Not for another hour."
Alan shrugged.
"Heard there was a party at the boneyard last night."
"There was."
Isla replied, praying to god her brother didn't know about the fight or the gun.
"Had fun?"
The pale skin on his scrawny body almost lit up in the sun.
"You look like vampire."
The girl scoffed, she hated the way her brother was ruining his life.
"Why are you ignoring me Isla."
His eyes turned dark.
"I don't want to talk to you when you're on drugs."
She shrugged.
"So never, since you're always on drugs."
"You can't judge me holding up that joint, sis."
Alan pointed towards the joint.
He would never admit it, but he truly hoped Isla wouldn't end up like him and face the same struggle with addiction.
"Whatever, I'm leaving."
Isla looked up from the blunt in her hand.
"You should clean the house, it's a fucking mess."
As usual, Isla made her way to the chateau, noticing the others were already there, hanging out in the yard.
"your favorite person's here!"
She announced as she walked towards her friends.
"hey I, you good?"
pope asked, exchanging their usual handshake.
"always"
She smirked as she sat down next to Kiara and threw away her now finished joint.
"so, what did you wanna talk about?"
JJ asked as he leaned against some table.
"Oh, we're talking?"
Isla asked, not getting the memo of this supposed 'talk' they were having.
"I uh. I'm calling it off."
John B sighed,
"peterkins said, if I stay out of the marsh she'll help me with DCS"
"and you believe her?"
JJ asked, getting pissed off by John B's idea.
"yes I believe her, JJ"
John B said as if it was the most obvious thing.
"an actual cop John B, you believed a cop."
JJ shook his head in disappointment.
"Not very ACAB of you."
Isla joked, earning a chuckle from Kiara
"all I gotta do is stay out of the marsh for a couple days, and she'll help me out. and it doesn't help that your ass was shooting the gun"
John B explained.
"you know what I should've done? Just let topper drown your ass."
JJ replied.
Isla's jaw dropped at his comment, starting to feel the heat between the two best friends.
"yeah because Topper was gonna drown me?"
John B asked.
"sure looked like it. I mean, have you looked in a mirror? "
JJ said as he threw a small rock into the distance.
"come on, tell me some more, come on."
John B said, firing JJ up.
"they always win don't they man?"
The blonde continued.
"kooks versus pogues, they always, always win!"
"look it's okay!"
Isla yelled at JJ, knowing this was a sore subject for him.
"no it's not okay! it is not, they don't want us to go down the marsh, that means there's something valuable down there and you know it"
JJ said pointing at John B.
"I know you do, and I understand why you don't wanna go, you're the golden boy,you got way too much to risk."
JJ said to Pope.
"and you, you're already rich as fuck anyway. why would you bother?"
he said to kiara.
"but you, me and Isla, we got nothing to lose! we really don't alright, and I know it didn't use to be that way for you"
JJ explained but John B interrupted him.
"I don't wanna talk about this."
he said and walked away.
"so that's it?"
JJ asked dissapointed.
"just get out of my way man!"
John B said as he pushed past JJ.
"John B, listen to me, I have a plan"
JJ started, which made Isla exchange a confused look with Kie.
"you got the key to Cameron's big boat, right?"
JJ asked John B, starting to explain his plan
"no"
John B lied.
"there's scubba gear! we just borrow that, and then we go down to the wreck in the afternoon and that is what's gonna save you man"
JJ ignored John B's comment and continued to explain his plan.
"you don't see rich kids get into foster care, do you?"
he asked.
"alright"
John B nodded, agreeing with the plan after giving it a bit of thought.
"let's do it!" Isla smiled, excited to start this adventure.

after a few hours of discussing, and going trough their little plan, John B picked up the scuba gear, and went back to his place, meeting with his friends so they could leave to the wreck.
Kie was checking on the oxygen tanks on the boat, Isla sat down next to her, not understanding a think about the tanks or masks.
"this is empty, you took empty tanks?"
Kie groaned as John b sat down on the other side next to her.
"okay, this one's a quater full, it's enough for one of us."
Kie said, meaning only one of the five of them could actually dive down to explore the boat.
"love it when a plan comes togheter."
Pope sarcastically commented.
"does anyone know how to dive?"
Kie asked.
no one replied.
"well, I did it once, but then I almost died because of my asthma so..."
Isla explained, receiving blank stares from her friends.
"anybody else?"
Kiara sighed.
"it's kind of a kook sport"
JJ said shrugging his shoulders.
"I read about it."
Pope added.
"great, Pope read about it so someone's gonna die."
Isla groaned.
"look, you just put the thing in your mouth and breath, how hard can it be"
JJ shrugged, earning a snort from Isla.
"if you come up too fast, nitrogen gets into your blood. and you get the bends"
Pope explained.
"bends like, bend over and.."
JJ said while bedning over and showing his ass.
"the bends kill you"
Pope stated.
"right"
JJ said standing up straight.
"I can dive, yeah I can dive."
John B said.
"you can dive, I'm cool with that."
JJ nodded, at long as Isla wasn't the one diving, he was okay with it.
"since when can you dive?"
Kie asked the boy, not agreeing to let John B be the one to dive."
"I'll do it, it's fine"
He replied simply.
"let me do some calculations real quick"
Pope announced.
"you serious?"
Kie asked John b as she rolled her eyes and got up, standing on the boat thinking about who knows what while pope did his calculations.
Kiara looked at Isla and hinted for her to stand up as well, she took of her shirt and waited for her friend to do the same, obviously wanting to dive in the water.
"what are we doing?"
Isla asked confused.
"just follow me."
she said and dived into the water.
Isla hesitated at first but jumped into the water as well, but she was still with my head above the water to get some air when she heard the boys talk.
"what was that all about?"
Pope asked, referring to the girls randomly disappearing.
"I don't know but I liked it, a lot, especially the finale."
JJ said, talking about Isla as the "finale".
"I heard that JJ!"
Isla yelled and took a deep breath before swimming towards Kie, she was tying her shirt to the rope of the anchor, she looked out of breath so Isla took the shirt from her and continued tying it as Kie swam back up. when the shirt was all tied up Isla swam back as well and heard Kie was explaining to the boys what they just did.
Isla calmly swam back to the boat, as she climbed back up with her body all wet and dripping, she spotted JJ was staring at her.
"look away you pervert."
She Joked at him as he quickly looked away, his cheecks turning pink, distracting himself by walking to John B and telling him to think "zen".
Kiara walked up behind Isla and towards John B and gave him a kiss on the cheeck, causing Isla's eyes to widen, wondering what was going on between those two?
"diver down?"
John B asked.
"diver down"
Kie replied smiling.
John B nodded and jumped into the water.
Isla watched as he disappeared into the water while grabbing her shirt and put it on, considering she was pretty cold from the water.
"you're cold?"
JJ asked from beside Isla, noticing how her lips were slowly tuning blue.
She just nodded at him and he took it as he yes, hugging the girl to his chest, making her feel warmer right away.
"shit, cops"
pope said.
JJ turned his face around and saw a police boat was heading towards their boat.
"shit"
Isla muttered under her breath
"just act fricking normal."
Kie said while fixing her hair. JJ held Isla even tighter then before making sure she didn't look as if she was freezing to death.
"evening officers"
Pope said, greeting the deputies that stopped in front of their boat.
"evening"
one of them said back.
the other one gave him a rope and Pope took it to tie the boats.
"how you kids doing? you know the march is closed."
the deputy said.
"no"
"oh, no"
"it is?"
JJ, Pope and Isla all said at the same time.
"why is it closed?"
Pope asked, pretending to have no idea.
"well, we were conducting a search out here, boat went down."
the officer replied.
They all replied as if they had no idea.
"you seen anything?"
the officer asked.
"nope"
They all said at the same time.
"where's your friend you always hang out with?"
the officer asked, Isla slightly looked at JJ who had worry filled in his eyes, she pushed myself out of his grip and smiled at him kindly before sitting next to Kie.
"he's working"
Kie answered simply.
the officer nodded before saying
"I'm gonna ceck your little boat out"
"yeah, hop on board"
Pope said acting calm, but he was stressing on the inside, they all were since John B was almost running out of air and the stupid police was still up here.
the officers were asking some quiestions about the boat but Isla couldn't focus. She needed them to leave.
She looked at Kie to see she was stressing out as well.
Isla looked back to see the deputy standing at the edge of the boat, looking inside of the water, ofcourse. now she's stressing even more, what if he sees the boat? Or John B
She looked at JJ and he gave her a ressuring smile as he grabbed her hand softly as they stood there in total panic, waiting for the officers to leave.
"all right"
the officer finally said, which made Isla let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
"beautiful day ain't it"
he said as the teenagers all agreed.
"are you alright? you look pale?"
The deputy asked as he looked at Isla, causing her to stress out even more than she already was.
"yeah yeah, I'm just a little cold."
She smiled in reply.
"well, good thing you have a boyfriend to keep you warm"
he said and winked at JJ, Isla just nodded at him, pretending like what he said made total sense.
the deputy smiled at her and got inside of his boat.
"let us know if you see anything on your way out"
he said as the untied his boat from the HMS Pogue.
"will do"
Pope replied.
"we'll be gone soon sir"
JJ said.
"yes, you will"
the officer replied as he finally drove away from them.
When they were finally gone they all headed to the dge of the boat, looking for John B.
"he's definitely out of air"
Pope said, all of them waited desperatley for their friend to come back up.
"there he is!"
JJ yelled as John b came back up, causing everyone to let out a sigh in relief.
"how'd it go down there?"
JJ asked as John B swam towards them
"did you find anything?"
Isla asked and right after that John b dropped a bag out of the water and into the boat.
"there we go! that's my boy!"
JJ said proudly as he grabbed the bag.
"you okay?"
Kie asked as John b came up into the boat.
"yeah, I ran out of air"
he replied.
"you scared the shit out of me"
Kie confessed.
"yeah the cops were up here but uh, we took care of it"
Pope said.
"yeah you kinda missed the show brother"
JJ filled in.
"guys, bogey, two o'clock."
Kie said nodding towards a boat that was coming their way.
"do you recognize that boat?"
Pope asked.
"I've never seen it, what are they doing here the marsh is closed"
Kie replied, confused by the unfamiliar boat.
"I don't know but let's not stick around to find out"
JJ said anxiously.
"should we wait on em?"
Pope asked as JJ got the bowline out of the water.
"no we're not waiting on em, go ge the stern! go!"
John B replied.
"JJ hurry up"
Isla said as the boat was coming closer.
"don't wait for me, go"
JJ yelled.
"let's go!"
Kie and Isla said at the same time.
"go into the marsh!"
Pope said as the boat seemed to follow after them.
"I'm going! act natural"
John B said as he made his way out.
Islanturned around and saw that the boat was indeed following them.
"shit guys, they're following us"
"this can't be good"
Pope said while stressing out.
"dude you gotta go faster!"
JJ told John B.
"I'm going"
John B replied.
Isla held on tight as they drove as fast as they could.
and before they even realized it they were being shot at. They all bend down, trying to hide from the bullets that we're fired towards them.
"o my god we're gonna die"
Pope said as he lays down on the floor of the boat.
Kiara suddenly stood up, earning multiple reactions from her friends who were all hiding from the bullets.
"what are you doing? are you crazy?"
Isla asked her, she just nodded it off as she grabbed a fishing net and threw it into the water, making the boat behind them get stuck in the net.
"holy shit"
Isla exclaimed as they drove away from the bogeys and they all got up from their previous spots.
"pogue god man!"
JJ yelled excited
"that was insane!"
Kie laughed, her body filled with adrenaline.
"I think I've just shit myself"
Isla joked as they drove back to John B's house.

when they arrived they all got down and sat on the little dock in front of John B's house.
John B hurried and opened the duffel bag he found on the sunken boat, excited to see what's inside.
"what do you think it is?"
Kie asked in curiosity.
"it's gotta be money or something right?"
John B replied.
"that or a couple of keys with street value to the low to mid mils"
JJ theorized.
"can we please just open the bag?"
Pope said annoyed, bursting with anticipation.
"wow, pope, that's a rare outburst of emotion"
John b joked.
"okay, you guys are literally killing me with anticipation, open the bag"
Pope said.
John B did what he was told and opened the bag, getting an iron tube out of it, he opened the tube as his friends all watched in commotion.
"a compass?!"
Isla asked annoyed as she looked at the object they just risked their lived for.
"good job everybody, we found a compass."
Pope sarcastically commented and walked around annoyed.
John B was still looking at the object, as if it was anything special.
"dude what? it's not worth anything."
JJ scoffed
but John B kept smiling at the compass.
"this was my fathers"
