Hello everyone!

Here is finally the next chapter! Revolution of the Daleks.

I know some of you are excited for this one, so I hope it lives up to the hype. Sorry, its a bit late life has been crazy and I am juggling a lot of responsibilities but I will do my best to keep writing when I have free time.

As for the next chapter I am planning a two parter; likely the Zygon invasion, Pandorica two-parter, Stolen Earth or Dark Water. Let me know what one you want!

Thank you for reading and please let me know what you think!

Enjoy!

Robyn

The screen went black as the next video title was promptly displayed for the waiting group.

"Revolution of the Daleks." Martha read out, then sighed as it registered. "Two Dalek videos in a row, really?"

"Question is, who has to suffer this one?" Amy commiserated.

Rose shrugged, "Title is pretty ambiguous, could be anyone." She waved at the screen, "Guess we have to watch the start of the video to work that out."

As if on que, the video started.

A long time ago... (2019) far, far away... (Cheltenham)

[Government Communications Headquarters]

(A Dalek descends through a hole it has blown in the roof.- see Resolution)
DALEK: Exterminate! The Doctor must be destroyed!
(The Tardis and her crew are there.)

Ryan groaned, immediately recognising themselves and their old adventures with the Daleks.

"So, it's us." Yaz announced to confirm the rest of the group's thoughts. "Still doesn't answer which time." They'd had several misadventures with Daleks, many of which could be featured and this wasn't looking familiar yet.

DOCTOR: Earth is protected by me and my mates, this year and every other. Here we go!
(She sonicks off the forcefield and runs to our left while the others go right.)
DALEK: Exterminate!
(She slides up behind the Dalek.)

"Oh right, this was that mess with the Daleks." Graham recalled, waving a finger at the screen. "Erh, 2019 New Years, right."

The Doctor nodded along, "Sounds about right."

Bill glanced between the four, "But this is like a summary right, so it's not the focus of this video?"

The four shared a knowing look, Yaz speaking up for them. "Don't think so, but this isn't looking familiar. Maybe it's something that hasn't happened for us, yet?

"Great. Just great." Rory sighed, that really didn't sound promising. Any mess involving the Daleks usually wasn't, but if none of them had any idea of what was going to happen, they wouldn't know how it would end.

DOCTOR: Now attach the parts.
DALEK: Weapon failure.
YASMIN: The parts are on, Doctor!
DOCTOR: Get clear!
(The Dalek melts and explodes.)

"Two Dalek explosions in two videos." Nardole summarised.

367 minutes later

[Loading bay]

(The remains of the Dalek are being taken away.)

"Why do I get a bad feeling about people being left to deal with the Dalek remains?" Clara sighed, rubbing her forehead with her hand. She could already feel the headache building.

ARMEN: Is everyone all right in there?
RACHEL: We had an accident. People got hurt. The issue's been dealt with. There'll be someone waiting at Depository 23.
ARMEN: Long time since we opened that one. Whatever that is, is it safe?

"Not remotely." Mickey crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow.

RACHEL: Just get it there quick as you can.
ARMEN: Am I allowed to stop for a cuppa?
RACHEL: Oh, only cos it's you. How's your mum, by the way?
ARMEN: Yeah, you know...
RACHEL: Must be hard.
ARMEN: Yeah. Best get on the road.

"This can't go well." Amy grimaced. A singular trucker would be vulnerable with a destroyed Dalek in the back; even if the Dalek was fully destroyed there would be a lot of people wanting its remains.

[Layby]

(He's pulled the lorry in to refill his thermos at FI's Teas.)
ARMEN: Hi.
TEA LADY: Hi.
ARMEN: Can I get a cup of tea in there, please? Thank you.

"Brits and their tea." Jack shook his head fondly, even as he watched the screen warily. They were all anticipating this delivery to go badly. He glanced at Yaz, Ryan and Graham thinking about his own involvement with Daleks and the four of them – was that this mess?

TEA LADY: There you go, love.
ARMEN: Cheers.
TEA LADY: Have a good day.
ARMEN: Thanks very much. Have a good one.
(He walks back to his lorry, takes a drink, starts to feel dizzy, drops the thermos, collapses. The tea lady closes the serving hatch, drags his body and dumps it in the back of the lorry with the remains of the Dalek, then drives the rig away.)

"Great." Martha threw her hands up in the air in frustration. "Someone's stolen a Dalek's remains."

"I'm sure they have great intentions." Donna snorted; tone full of sarcasm.

[Empty lot]

PATTERSON: When you said breakfast meeting, I presumed it would be somewhere that served breakfast. Jo Patterson.
LEO: Leo Rugazzi. CEO, Rugazzi Technologies.
ROBERTSON: I acquired Leo's company 18 months ago.

"Robertson." Yaz groaned, identifying the businessman for the rest of the group. "I wanted to forget about him."

"A nice guy?" Rory asked with raised eyebrows.

Ryan snorted, "A pompous businessman with no regards for people. We met him when his hotel had a spider incident. Wonder what he's up to this time?" Nothing good clearly.

The rest of the group all shared a worried look, the last video had also featured a pompous businessman and Daleks. They were hoping this one didn't show any more similarities or the same fatality rate.

(Arachnids in the UK...)
PATTERSON: I see you buying a lot of companies right now. They're calling you the American Mike Ashley.
ROBERTSON: There's a lot of value in the market today.
PATTERSON: Having your political ambitions ruined by that little toxic waste scandal seems to have been a blessing in disguise.

"Little scandal?" Graham raised an eyebrow, "Bit of an understatement."

ROBERTSON: That's a very sensitive subject for me.
LEO: I just wanted to say that I am super-psyched about having a proper Technology Secretary at last.

"Technology secretary?" Bill narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Interesting." Wasn't it just convenient that a high-tech Dalek was stolen and now they were seeing the technology secretary.

PATTERSON: I was super-psyched too, until they told me that my budget was £2.70.
ROBERTSON: Well, if anybody can make it work, it's you, Jo.
PATTERSON: Show me why we're here.
ROBERTSON: Leo has something... revolutionary to show you.

"He really never learns his lesson, does he?" Ryan shook his head. You'd think a man would learn after the spider incident, but apparently not.

[Overlooking a tunnel entrance]

(Angry mob facing a line of police in riot gear.)
ROBERTSON: Just a small role-play. We all know the problems facing the world today. Trust in our leaders is at an all-time low. Civil unrest is growing. Security budgets are falling. Our police forces are under pressure.
(Fire bombs are thrown.)
PATTERSON: Goodness, I hope no-one's going to get hurt.

"So, she cares." Martha noted thankfully, "Better than neither than them." There was no doubt that Robertson didn't really care.

ROBERTSON: The problem is obvious. Here's the solution.
(Out of the tunnel trundles a shiny new black Dalek. It surveys the situation and opens fire - with a jet of water.)

"This is going to go terribly." Clara frowned at the sight of the altered Daleks. They wouldn't be the first people to try and use Daleks for their own gain, but it never ended well. They doubted this would be an exception.

LEO: Built-in water cannon.
(What should be the sink plunger emits gas.)
LEO: And CS gas. We're not using actual CS gas.
ROBERTSON: I still think it would have been fine.

"It would not have." Rose glared at the screen. Robertson was already low on their expectations but he seemed happy to start digging.

(The Dalek emits a highpitched noise. The 'rioters' clutch their heads in pain. The trio have ear defenders on.)
LEO: Sonic deterrent!

[Building]

LEO: Entirely robotic with an AI interface programme for every eventuality, thanks to extensive real-world scenario testing. Er, solar... solar powered with A-grade energy rating.
PATTERSON: You built this yourself?

"No." Mickey stated, prepared for Leo to lie. No matter how much they'd altered the Dalek, it was still a Dalek.

LEO: Oh, pretty much. Er, once Mister Robertson became involved, he really helped us turbo-boost the whole project. Actually, talking about...
ROBERTSON: Er, she gets the picture, Leo. That's fine. This is a game-changer, Jo. It's the security equivalent of the iPhone.

"No, it's the equivalent of inviting the murdered into the house and giving him a weapon." Amy countered, arms crossed and glaring at the screen. So far, they were two for two on videos featuring idiot businessmen creating a mess involving Daleks.

PATTERSON: Shall we talk in private?

[Empty lot]

PATTERSON: I want them built and beta tested in my constituency.
ROBERTSON: Yes, yes, as discussed. When those car firms deserted you, I bought up all the plants. I own them now. So we repurpose, New infrastructure, new jobs. This is going to be a big win for you, Jo. A flagship policy from our dynamic new Technology Secretary, and it looks like, er, your party's going to need a new leader soon.

"He may not be in a direct position of political power but he's sticking close." Donna narrowed her eyes warily.

PATTERSON: What does he know, young Leo?
ROBERTSON: Only that I got the parts from some unknown source.
PATTESON: If it ever gets out that I tipped you off about advanced technology being transported from GCHQ...

"So, she's in on it." Clara frowned. "I doubt she knows what she's done." If she'd had any encounters with the Dalek then she wouldn't be risking anything. This was a mistake of ignorance.

ROBERTSON: It won't. We trust each other. This is a good arrangement, Jo. You're simply facilitating an acquisition and I'm cutting you in on the IP. Nobody knows. Everybody wins.

"Everybody is going to know, and nobody is going to win." Rory shook his head. If an army of Daleks was going to arise it wasn't going to be subtle or anything good.

PATTERSON: How long will it take?
ROBINSON: Er, a year, give or take.

"That's plenty of time to build an army." Martha frowned. Far too much time in fact.

79 Billion light years away

[Prison]

(The cell is cut out of the asteroid rock, with lasers for window bars. The Doctor marks the new day with another scratch on the wall. She's been there quite a while. Her meal is transmatted in.)

The Doctor grimaced at the reminder of her prison days, ignoring the confused and worried glances the group were all giving her.

"Right." Yaz frowned, "I'd almost forgotten about this." Those days thinking the Doctor was gone still weighed on her some days, but she'd almost forgotten that was how this mess started. She couldn't deny her curiosity to see more about the Doctor's time there and escape – the Doctor had been very tight lipped about it all after their arrival in the room, and there were a lot of scratches on the wall.

Amy raised an eyebrow at the Doctor, "What did you do this time?"

The Doctor just sighed, eyes not leaving the frozen image of her old cell even as she answered. "This is after the chaos on Gallifrey." She didn't elaborate, but her current regeneration didn't have much time on Gallifrey for them to confuse it with anything else. Now that she'd reminded them, they did recall those videos ending in the Doctor being imprisoned.

River bit her lip, she was about to say something when she caught Jack's eye who just shook his head at her, now was not the right time.

DOCTOR: Urgh...
(The exercise symbol lights up so she walks down a corridor, following the flashing arrows on the wall.)
DOCTOR: Morning, camera 37. Morning, camera 38.

"How long were you there, Doctor?" Bill asked quietly; it would have taken some time for the Doctor to learn these things and get into a routine like that.

The Doctor conveniently avoided eye contact, expression carefully schooled, which only served to make the group more concerned.

(Through a security door to a large area of individual spaces divided by energised fences.)
DOCTOR: Morning, Angela.
(She blinks and the Weeping Angel moves.)

"What does a weeping angel get imprisoned for?" Martha asked curious.

Mickey grinned, "Better question, how do you keep one imprisoned?"

DOCTOR: All right, Bonnie and Clyde?
(They are Ood.)
DOCTOR: Tiny! How many times? You can't eat the cage. Believe me, I've tried.

That earned the Doctor several confused expressions and a collection of fondly exasperated sighs and rolled eyes. They could all see the Doctor attempting it, but not as a first option – another hint to her being there for a long time.

(It's a Pting. And back to her cell. Lights out.)
DOCTOR: Bedtime story, Doctor? Yes, please, Doctor. One of the classics? Ooo, yes, please. Settle down, then. (from memory) Mister and Mrs Dursley, of number four Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal...

"Oh Doctor." River breathed out at the sight of her wife alone in a cell telling herself stories from memory. She couldn't be in a good mental state, being imprisoned would do that, and that was without all the revelations she'd just had regarding the Timeless Child and her childhood. It was never a good combination with the Doctor.

(Banging on the wall.)
DOCTOR: What? Who's there? Stay strong. People are waiting for you.

The group all shared worried looks but didn't make any comments.

[A Tardis]

(Graham and Ryan walk up to a detached house on a new estate. The door opens for them. It's the Tardis from Timeless Children.)

The Doctor managed a weak smile, glad to see her Tardis had been kept safe while she was imprisoned.

"At least the Tardis is safe?" Rory offered a weak positive for the situation.

YASMIN: I keep thinking - she was barely in here for a couple of minutes and yet she coded the entry lock to our DNA, just like on her own Tardis. Maybe that's cos she wanted us to be able to follow her, to find her, cos she needed us. I'm going to work it out. I must be able to work it out.
(She's got a big board of clues.)

The Doctor winced at the sight of how much Yaz had spiralled with her disappearance, she hadn't intended for it. Yaz grimaced at herself on screen, but felt a bit better when she noticed the sympathetic and understanding nods from other members of the group – they'd all had moments where they'd spiralled. It wasn't a nice reminder that this was the state that she'd been in before they'd ended up in this room, thought this video seemed a few months further along in the time line.

GRAHAM: Happy New Year, Yaz.
YASMIN: When was it New Year?

Ryan raised a pointed eyebrow at Yaz who rolled her eyes. They'd had that argument far too many times over the year, and they were still near the early days of the Doctor being gone. She didn't want to imagine how many more times they'd have it before this video took place.

RYAN: You been sleeping in here?
YASMIN: Maybe.
GRAHAM: Yaz, you can't keep being here all the time. The Doc, you know, she went to do something she knew might kill her. We've just got to assume she didn't make it.

"The Doctor does that." Clara remarked with a pointed look at the Doctor. They rarely thought about the consequences of their self-destructive habits or those they were leaving behind to cope with it.

YASMIN: Why? Why do we have to assume that?
RYAN: Mate, we've been back ten months. We have to get on with our lives. That's what she told us. That's what she wanted for us.
YASMIN: But what if she needs us? How many times has she saved us?

"Oh Yaz." Jack shook his head, giving her a knowing look. Yaz avoided eye contact, she didn't like seeing all her private conversations and stuff on screen but she was starting to think that she hated watching something she hadn't experienced yet more.

RYAN: Yaz, face up to it, we don't know how to find her. All right? And there's something else. Graham, show her.
GRAHAM: Mmm-hmm. The Doc would really want us to keep an eye on the planet, right? Look, this is leaked online footage of what they're calling a prototype security drone. Apparently, this was taken over a year ago. Just watch.
YASMIN: That's a Dalek.

"They wasted no time." Mickey snorted with a frown. It was only a matter of time before everything fell apart.

GRAHAM: Mmm-hmm.
YASMIN: But how's that possible?
RYAN: No idea.
GRAHAM: Watch.
YASMIN: Jack Robertson. Spider guy.

"Never learns his lesson." Graham repeated Ryan's earlier words.

GRAHAM: Mmm.
YASMIN: He's in league with a Dalek?

"No, just an idiot." Yaz corrected herself. The advantage of perspective.

RYAN: That's what we're going to find out.
GRAHAM: And that's what the Doc would do if she was here, so... are you with us?

Martha grinned at the three, "Join the club of Earth's mightiest defenders."

"No Doctor needed." Mickey added on with a matching grin.

[Woodland]

(It's raining.)
ROBERTSON: Well, it's an honour to be summoned by the Prime Minister in waiting... even if it is a bit, er, rural. How many hours till we get the results from the ballots?

"Oh great, she's getting a better position of power." Rose sighed; she still didn't know the consequence of what she had done but she was getting rewarded anyway.

PATTERSON: The numbers are on my 's why I wanted to talk.
ROBERTSON: You're not having doubts about our agreement, are you?
PATTERSON: Quite the opposite. I want to expedite our project.
ROBERTSON: Six of the sweetest words in the English language.
PATTERSON: I want an immediate national roll-out of security drones.

"That's the worst idea I've ever heard." Rory declared with a suffering sigh.

ROBERTSON: National? But we've only just started regional beta testing.
PATTERSON: And I want it at no cost to the British taxpayer.
ROBERTSON: Why, Jo, this is starting to sound like a shakedown.
PATTERSON: This country can be your shop window for global sales. Unless, of course, you'd like the Treasury to take a look at how much tax all your companies pay over here?

"Blackmail." Ryan nodded, "Not that he doesn't deserve it but in this case it's not for a good end."

ROBERTSON: Ah. Well played... Prime Minister. Well played.

{Outside Robertson HQ]

ROBERTSON: (on phone) Leo? I'm outside. Three minutes.
RYAN: Yo. Remember us?

"You three wasted no time." Amy grinned at the three who shared a look with each other.

(Robertson assumes the position.)
ROBERTSON: Take the car! Just leave my face.
GRAHAM: What?
ROBERTSON: Oh, no. Not you guys.

"You really annoyed him." Bill remarked with a grin at how bothered Robertson seemed at their appearance.

RYAN: Yeah, us, cos we know all about you and that Dalek.
ROBERTSON: The what?
GRAHAM: The Dalek. The most deadly creature in the universe. We saw you with it.
ROBERTSON: What is this word that you keep using?

"He's not going to listen." Rose sighed, shaking her head. They didn't need to know any more about Robertson to know that much.

YASMIN: Oh, don't play innocent. Dalek. Whatever you're doing with it, we're going to stop you.
GUARD: Hands in the air! Step away from the car!
(Armed guards arrive.)

"That might be an issue." Clara admitted, security would be annoying and a temporary roadblock in talking to Robertson.

ROBERTSON: What, you didn't think I'd increase my security since the last time we met? You're lucky you're not all dead on the ground. Get rid of 'em, boys.
(Walking away.)
GRAHAM: Well, that didn't go exactly to plan, did it?
RYAN: I like that whole "whatever you're doing, we're going to stop you" vibe. Very Doctory.

The comment earned several chuckles from the group, the three sharing grins.

YASMIN: Doesn't work when I do it. We didn't get anywhere near an explanation from him.

"It doesn't work half the time when the Doctor does." River laughed, giving her wife a teasing grin.

GRAHAM: If we had the Doctor's psychic paper or we knew how to work that Tardis, we could get into his office and see what's going on.
RYAN: Yeah, but we don't, so we're going to have to try and figure out another way.
GRAHAM: Yeah. This is hard, innit?

"You're doing well." The Doctor smiled softly at the trio, glad to see them still trying to protect people even when she was ... incapacitated.

[Prison]

(The daily routine.)
DOCTOR: Morning, camera 38.
(In her exercise yard, she sees a Silent.)
DOCTOR: Oh, I forgot you were here.

"Doctor." Amy sighed fondly, glad to see she could still find humour despite everything.

HARKNESS: What about this face? Remember this?

"Jack." Rose cheered, happy to see the familiar face come to the Doctor's rescue. The Doctor had perked up as well, glad to know that she would get out but scared to know long it would take.

Jack grinned wildly, standing up and taking dramatic bows to the room earning laughs from the group and a fond sigh from the Doctor. "Thank you, thank you. I know. I'm here all day."

"Sit down Jack!" The Doctor protested, waving at him. Jack turned and gave her a pointedly deep bow before collapsing happily back into his seat.

DOCTOR: Jack. Jack!
HARKNESS: I knew you would look better in these colours than me. Hello, Doctor.
DOCTOR: What are you doing here?

"Rescuing you?" Rory pointed out; a bit confused by the Doctor's question.

While this was her future self she could have a good guess, so the Doctor shrugged, "You never know with Jack. It's equally likely that Jack got himself into trouble and ended up there the traditional way." Jack just shrugged, not protesting the accusations.

HARKNESS: What do you think I'm doing here? Breaking you out. Temporal-freezing gateway disinhibitor bubble. Catchy, right? If it were me, I'd have called it a breakout ball. Freezes time temporarily, breaks through walls. Only problem is... it doesn't last long.
(He activates the bubble and steps through the electric fence to join her.)

Bill started snickering, earning curious glances from the rest of the group. "Sorry, sorry." She managed to get out amongst her chuckles, noticing the eyes on her. "It just looks like they're in a zorb or something."

The group gave the screen a considering look before also breaking out into laughs.

HARKNESS: Hi!
DOCTOR: Have you had work done?
HARKNESS: You can talk! Now shut up and run.

"Honestly, the two of you are terrible." River shook her head fondly at the pair beside her. The two in question just gave her matching mischievous grins.

(They run the bubble down the corridor.)
HARKNESS: I heard a rumour you were in here, so I committed a few crimes. Well, maybe a lot of crimes. Maybe more than I should have.

"Jack." Rose shook her head exasperated and disapproving, but the effect was ruined by her grin.

DOCTOR: What sort of crimes?

"Not exactly the most important thing at the moment, Doctor." Martha shook her head at the Doctor's priorities.

HARKNESS: Left turn.
DOCTOR: Oh!
HARKNESS: You're going to take the moral high ground with me when I'm breaking you out of prison? Be grateful!
DOCTOR: Front door! How long has this thing got left?
HARKNESS: 11 seconds till expiry! Go!
(They arrive in a room then the bubble expires.)

"Cutting it a bit close." Rory winced, letting out a little sigh of relief.

DOCTOR: Phew!
HARKNESS: Took 19 years to get to the cell next to you. Hope you had enough to occupy your mind.

"19 Years?" Yaz latched onto Jack's words, immediately on alert. That meant the Doctor had been there longer than that, and who knows how long it took for the rumours to reach Jack. The Doctor was conveniently avoiding eye contact, never moving her gaze from the screen, she may not know the exact answer but she had a strong guess that it was significantly longer than that.

DOCTOR: Too much.
HARKNESS: Here we go. One secretly stashed vortex manipulator.
(The alarms sound.)
HARKNESS: Wondered how long that would take. We need to go now.

"Surprised it took that long." Donna snorted, "Now it's really time to get out of there."

DOCTOR: How did you manage to smuggle that in here?
HARKNESS: You really want me to answer that? Oh, I've missed you...very much. (hug) Let's go.

"Jack." Rose shook her head again, far too easily able to imagine what Jack wasn't saying.

The Doctor was smiling at him, softer, "Thanks Jack." She appreciated him and everything he'd done for her, he'd taken the time to get imprisoned and help her escape despite everything she'd done to him.

"Always, Doc." Jack nodded, returning the soft smile. For once the Doctor didn't protest the nickname.

[Office]

(On the TV, BBC News reports Jo Patterson elected party leader and new Prime Minister.)

"Escape one mess and straight into another." Amy shook her head.

Rory sighed, "Some things never change."

LEO: Operation, logistics and production have all been called in. Everyone has been told maximum capacity, maximum speed, and our beta partners are working through the night training staff, under our supervisors. All under NDAs, of... of course. We think we might have enough in place to... well, to make the deadline.
ROBERTSON: Great. Great job, Leo. This is going to be good for us.

"It is going to be terrible for everyone." Nardole countered.

LEO: I... I... I can't help but feel a little... well, you know, a little worried about the speed of this.
ROBERTSON: Everybody's worried, Leo. We live in uncertain times. Do you want to win? Embrace the uncertainty. Live in the worry.
LEO: Oh, okay. Er, so... so...there's... there's just something I... I needed to share on this project. When I first started working on that casing, I broke it down into the tiniest components. I made it my mission to, well, to understand everything about it.

"He's got doubts." Clara noticed quickly, "He noticed something when he was working on the Dalek."

Martha nodded along, "He's not completely stupid. He's just an idiot." One who didn't know what he was getting into, and one who was going to listen to Robertson who was only going to push him further down the wrong path.

ROBERTSON: Yes, and you did a great job. These machines are going to change the world.
LEO: I'm not talking about the machines. I'm talking about what was inside the original artefact.
ROBERTSON: There's nothing inside, Leo. It was a burnt-out shell.
LEO: Well, that's what I'm trying to tell you. This granular investigation I've been doing, I... Well, I found something more. Organic remnants inside the machine. Tiny cellular traces scattered across the casing.

"The true Dalek." Jack grimaced.

ROBERTSON: Where are you going with this, Leo?
LEO: Well... Look, I'll ju... I'll just show you.

[Laboratory]

LEO: Look. Just here, see? I.. I took the cellular traces and I... ..and I cloned them. Grew them. I grew a creature.
(A blobby thing with tentacles in a tank.)

"It's worse than we thought." Mickey grimaced. Even a human cloned Dalek was not going to be friendly.

ROBERTSON: Oh, my God!
LEO: It's beautiful, isn't it?

"Never mind, he's insane." Bill shook her head.

ROBERTSON: No! Are you insane? That's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my life. What were you thinking?

"For once Robertson is right." Graham allowed reluctantly.

LEO: What? It's intelligent. I hooked it into the intra-neural network and... and there were flickers of activity. It understood our systems immediately.

"He gave it access?" Clara groaned, "Of course, he did." Because things just had to get worse and worse.

ROBERTSON: You did what?! All right. Not another word. You've overreached, Leo. I want this incinerated immediately.
LEO: What?!
ROBERTSON: No argument!

"Listen to him!" Amy urged Leo on screen.

"I doubt he will." Martha grimaced, otherwise they likely wouldn't be watching this.

(Grabs Leo's ear.)
LEO: Ow!
ROBERTSON: I don't want to see a trace of this. This never happened, you never showed it to me, this thing never existed. Do you understand?

"Unfortunately, it did, and we are seeing it." Rose sighed.

LEO: Okay, okay.
(Lets go.)
ROBERTSON: You know what your problem is, Leo? You're too clever. This is why people don't like experts.

"You wouldn't be in this situation if you didn't steal the Dalek shell." Yaz countered, throwing her hands at the screen, still very annoyed at Robertson.

[Incinerator room]

(Which for some weird reason is upstairs...)
LEO: I'm sorry.
(He opens the mutant's box and it grabs him. Later -)

"Love the possession." Ryan shook his head. They'd been so close to averting disaster, but nope the Dalek's penchant for possessing people came back to cause trouble for a second new year's.

"Since when could Daleks do that?" Donna asked startled. No one provided any answers, stuck watching the screen as the situation continued to grow worse and worse.

[Office]

LEO: Hi, love. It... It's me. I... I have to go on an urgent business trip tonight. Give the kids a kiss from me. Er... ..I'll call you when I can. Love you. Bye.
(Phone down.)
DALEK/LEO: Love you. Bye. Stand.

"He's a puppet." Rory grimaced at the horrifying sight. It was bad enough before the Dalek was in control, now with Leo as its puppet the Dalek could cause a lot of damage.

(It is on his back.)
DALEK: Good puppet.

[Tardis]

DOCTOR: We're out. I'm back. My own Tardis. Captain Jack Harkness, gold star for rescuing.

Yaz, Ryan and Graham shared a long-suffering look at the reminder of the Doctor's point/reward system that came and went sporadically.

HARKNESS: Told your friends if you ever need help, I'd be there. Wow. Nice upgrade in here. Which way's my room?
DOCTOR: You don't have a room. You've never had a room.

"Lies and you know it." Jack pointed a finger at the Doctor, with a knowing smirk. "Everyone has a room and you keep them all even long after they're gone." The Doctor pointedly didn't answer, turning her eyes back to the screen.

HARKNESS: I had a suite with its own cocktail lounge. They gave you my message, about the lone Cyberman? You didn't give it the Cyberium?
DOCTOR: It's a long story.

"That's putting it lightly." Jack gave the Doctor a stern look. The Doctor may have got the message, but the lone Cyberman still ended up with the Cyberium. Thankfully in the end it had mostly worked out.

HARKNESS: What?
DOCTOR: I fixed it. Eventually. Just about. Sort of.

"As usual." River shook her head. That described a lot of the Doctor's adventures, for better or worse.

HARKNESS: Why were you in prison in the first place?
DOCTOR: Evading the Judoon. Twice at once. Then once I was in, they took 7,000 other offences into consideration.

"Only 7,000?" The Master spoke up with a raised eyebrow. "Why stop there?"

HARKNESS: They stopped at seven?

Jack and the Master having the same question entertained several members of the group, but what was more amusing was the matching disgusted looks they shared as they realised that.

DOCTOR: I was in prison for being me... right at the point when I wasn't sure what that meant. Ah, it's been a tough few decades.

Yaz's attention snapped back to the Doctor, a few decades were significantly longer than 19 years but still not anything specific. She was determined to find out how long the Doctor had been in that prison, the more the Doctor tried to avoid answering the more determined she was to find out.

HARKNESS: You're okay now, yeah?
DOCTOR: Oh, I guess we'll find out. Wakey-wakey.

"Which is Doctor for no, not at all." River gave her wife a pointedly concerned look. The Doctor didn't let her eyes waver from the screen, doing her best to avoid eye contact.

(The Tardis powers up.)
HARKNESS: Hey!
DOCTOR: Nice nap? Thanks for waiting. I had a lot to think about in there. And three very special people I've missed.

Ryan, Yaz and Graham all gave the Doctor a warm smile, glad to know she'd been as worried about them as they'd been about her.

HARKNESS: One of them was me, right?
DOCTOR: You never change.

"Neither do you, Doctor. Not really." Jack countered with a soft smile.

HARKNESS: Wish I could say the same.
DOCTOR: Right. Find me my fam.

"And Robertson's mess." Yaz added on, she could guess her reaction to that.

[Graham's home]

YASMIN: This is what I've got so far. Remnants of the Dalek we fought at GCHQ were cleared but then stolen. The driver is missing, presumed dead.

The group shared a grimace, they all knew what had happened to the Dalek remains and driver and it wasn't anything good.

RYAN: Now Robertson's got his hands on it.
GRAHAM: Well, he can't have, because you sent that creature thing that was inside it into a supernova, so...

"A supernova?" River raised a pointed eyebrow at the trio and Doctor in turn.

Ryan looked a bit guilty but the Doctor shrugged, unrepentant. "It worked." Was her only response. River sighed, shaking her head exasperated but everyone could see the smile on the edge of her lips.

RYAN: Maybe there's more of them here on Earth, and one's got Robertson under their control?

"Yes and no." Ryan answered the version of himself on screen. There hadn't been any until Leo cloned one.

YASMIN: Ryan, shh!
(Distant sound of Tardis materialisation getting louder. A wind blows as air is displaced.)

The group all shared fond smile as the familiar sound of the Tardis materialising, it was a very distinct noise and one they all had grown to love during their adventures.

"Troubles arrived." Rose grinned.

Jack raised an eyebrow at her with a matching grin, "Are you talking about me or the Doctor?"

Rose just stared his down, grin widening. "Yes."

YASMIN: Please. Please be her.
(Tardis materialises, door opens.)
DOCTOR: Hi! I was in space jail.

Amy shook her head at the Doctor's dramatics, they appeared after months and were immediately spouting excuses. It only mattered a little that they were legitimate ones.

GRAHAM: You what?
HARKNESS: Guess who got her out?

"The pair of you are unbelievable." Martha sighed, glancing between the Doctor and Jack who both tried to give their best false innocent look. It didn't fool anyone.

DOCTOR: You all met Jack, right?
HARKNESS: Hey, silver fox.
GRAHAM: (taking a step back) Hello.

"Think he'd scared you're going to kiss him again." Mickey chuckled at Graham's quick repeat, but gave an approving nod in his direction.

"Wouldn't you?" Graham countered.

"Fair enough, mate."

YASMIN: We were worried about you!
DOCTOR: What? How long's it been? A week? Two weeks?
RYAN: Ten months.

"Your inability to steer the Tardis strikes again." Donna snorted, completely unsurprised. They'd all come to expect it from the Doctor at this point, it truly was a miracle if you ended up at the right place or time; and both at once? That was a once in a billion event.

HARKNESS: Er, whoops?
DOCTOR: No, it can't be. I set identical temporal coordinates to when I sent you back.
GRAHAM: Yeah, but your time machine ain't the best at running to time, is it, Doc?

"Oi, don't blame the Tardis!" The Doctor protested.

"Yeah," Bill nodded, "Blame the Doctor instead."

The group snickered, ignoring the Doctor's spluttered protests.

DOCTOR: I'm sorry.
RYAN: Yeah, well, it's done now, so...
DOCTOR: Yeah.

"Awkward." Nardole muttered quietly to Bill, who only just managed to hide her snickers behind her hand.

HARKNESS: So... what's new on planet Earth?
FAM: Dalek.

"Accurate." Rory nodded, "But not what you want to hear upon escaping space jail."

Amy snorted at her husband's comment, "When does anything really go the Doctor's way?"

[Osaka Japan]

(Leo uses a keypad and enters a building.)
DALEK: Forward. Further. Further.
LEO: What is this place? What have you done?
(Made a mutant cloning farm.)
DALEK/LEO: This is my project. This is what I have built.

"Well, that's not good."

"Understatement of the century Nardole." Bill countered, eyes still wide and focussed on the horrifying picture on screen like the rest of the group.

[Tardis]

DOCTOR: So, it looks like a Dalek, but it can't be a Dalek... unless it is a Dalek.

"When is a Dalek not a Dalek?" Clara mused quietly to herself.

Yaz who heard her, grimaced, "When it doesn't want to kill everything around it."

RYAN: Trust us. We've seen the footage.
YASMIN: If you scan for Dalek DNA trace across the planet...
HARKNESS: Oh, she's good.

"Be nice, Jack." Rose waved a pointed finger in his direction with a warning look.

"I'm always nice!" Jack protested dramatically waving his hands around.

Mickey snorted, "That's not what I'd call it."

"Shut it, Mickey Mouse."

"Make me, Captain Cheesecake."

RYAN: Yeah, we all are.
GRAHAM: So, you've had dealings with Daleks as well, then?
HARKNESS: Yeah, they killed me once, long time ago. No big deal.

"People tend to need more explanation than that Jack." Martha shook her head at him, he was definitely doing some of this on purpose – and having far too much fun with it as well.

"Nah, if they've travelled with the Doctor than they're used to weird." Jack waved her off.

RYAN: You look pretty healthy for a corpse.
HARKNESS: I know, right? I can be killed but I come back to life pretty quick. Partially her fault, partially a friend of hers on Earth called Rose. But she's trapped in a parallel universe now.
YASMIN: She's what?

"Fair response." Rose grinned at Yaz. The whole group having turned to look at her as soon as her name was mentioned.

DOCTOR: Dalek DNA trace, Japan. Osaka. Well, sort of. Not an exact match. Ah, it's corrupted. I can't quite make sense of it.

"Clone makes more sense." The Doctor nodded to herself; it would certainly explain any weird inconsistencies to a typical Dalek reading. Leo was close and certainly got the idea of a Dalek, but he didn't create an exact replica.

HARKNESS: I can check it out. Anyone want to come?

"You really had to ask?" Amy raised an eyebrow, "Of course they're all going to come. They're already involved and been travelling with the Doctor long enough."

YASMIN: I will!
RYAN: I want a word with Robertson direct.
GRAHAM: Yeah, me too.
DOCTOR: Looks like he's recently opened a facility in Osaka. We could check it out, drop you on the way.
(Everyone grabs on to something as she activates the controls.)

"Hold tight." Donna grinned, "The Doctor's driving after all." It was very amusing to see the way that everyone automatically grabbed onto something as the Doctor took the controls, they'd all been in the Tardis enough times to have learnt.

[Robertson's office]

ROBERTSON: Everyone working at maximum capacity.
(The Tardis materialises outside his office door.)
ROBERTSON: Er... Let me call you back.

"Don't think he'd going to like this visit any more than he liked the last ones." Bill pointed out, admittedly a bit excited to see how annoyed he'd get at their continued appearance.

"Maybe he'll actually listen this time." Rory suggested hopefully, but not really believing that would actually be the case.

DOCTOR: If you're dealing with Daleks, you are way out of your depth.
ROBERTSON: What is that thing?
DOCTOR: I want to know what you're doing right now, and don't try calling security, cos I just blocked your phone lines.
ROBERTSON: What is the matter with you people? Hmm? Do you want to know what I'm doing? I'll show you myself.

"Think he's in for a surprise." Clara commented. Robertson was still clueless to what was truly happening but that likely wouldn't last much longer.

[Factory floor]

ROBERTSON: Welcome to the production line.
DOCTOR: You're making Daleks.
ROBERTSON: We're 3D-printing security drones.

"Potato, Potato." Ryan muttered.

DOCTOR: What about what's inside?
ROBERTSON: There's nothing inside. It's run by artificial intelligence.
DOCTOR: What?
ROBERTSON: Watch. (opens a casing) See? They're machines. There's the remote signal unit.
DOCTOR: They're empty.

"For now." River eyes the screen warily.

Amy nodded thoughtfully agreeing with her daughter, "The Dalek controlling Leo probably already has a plan to change that." The group grimaced at that thought.

ROBERTSON: Mmm-hmm.
DOCTOR: You're messing with things you don't understand. The creature these are modelled on is the most evil killing machine in the universe.
ROBERTSON: You're getting much too excited about a bunch of 3D-printed shapes.

"And you're not listening." Rose countered. Just like Van Statten hadn't listened, and they'd all seen where that had got them.

GRAHAM: So what are you doing at your facility in Osaka?
ROBERTSON: We don't have a facility in Osaka.

"Oh yes, you do." Mickey stated. Everything was going to unravel now.

RYAN: Yeah, you do.
ROBERTSON: No, we don't! I would know.

"Apparently you don't know half as much as you think you do." Bill happily argued.

[Osaka]

YASMIN: It says this is an agricultural park. Guess this is the future.
HARKNESS: Hmm.
YASMIN: Vertical farms. All inside.
HARKNESS: In my time, there are whole agri-planets that look like this, shipping food all over galaxies.

The Doctor perked up at the appearance of Yaz and Jack on screen, she was curious to know what the pair would discuss when left on their own. Yaz raised an eyebrow at herself onscreen, getting an odd feeling about where this conversation was going.

YASMIN: Your time?
HARKNESS: 51st century.
YASMIN: Get lost!
HARKNESS: Seriously. Boeshane Peninsula. Maybe one day I'll take you there.

"I forget you're technically an alien too." Martha remarked. Jack acted odd certainly but she often wrote that off as just being a time traveller thing.

YASMIN: Are they all like you there?
HARKNESS: No. I'm pretty special. Had a rough time, then? Without the Doctor?
YASMIN: I don't know what you mean.
HARKNESS: I saw the way you shoved her. You thought she wasn't coming back, right?
YASMIN: You're guessing a lot from a shove.

"He's got a bit of experience in that department." Rose smiled softly at Yaz, before sharing a long look with Jack. If anyone could understand Yaz's situation now, it was Jack.

HARKNESS: I have my own experience with the Doctor.
YASMIN: I just missed her. I never stopped to think...

The Doctor glanced between the pair, feeling a bit awkward. She was getting the strong sense that she wasn't supposed to ever hear this. Yaz was glancing between the screen and the Doctor in the room, she was sure her future self would not be happy to know this conversation was being shown to the whole room.

HARKNESS: Hey. When I was with the Doctor, I saw more than I could have ever dreamed. And then... we lost each other. I didn't know what happened to him. If he was alive or... if I was ever going to see him again. Hard way to live. Being with the Doctor, you don't get to choose when it stops. Whether you leave her or... she leaves you.
YASMIN: It felt cruel... to be shown something I couldn't have any more. Felt like, er, I'd rather not have known. I'd rather not have met her, cos having met her and then... being without her, that's worse. How do you deal with that?
HARKNESS: How many people in the universe get to meet the Doctor, let alone travel with her? We're the lucky ones, Yaz. Enjoy the journey while you're on it. Cos the joy... is worth the pain.

"Nicely put Harkness." River said quietly. His words resonating with the group and leaving them all in a state of contemplation, their own experiences and time with the Doctor flooding their minds. The Doctor just watched the group, feeling a bit out of place.

(Round the back of a building.)
HARKNESS: Locked door.

"When has that ever stopped you?" Martha snorted. The room returning to normal, after the moment of quiet following Jack's insight.

(Sonic gun cuts a square hole.)

"Square gun." Rose grinned fondly. That certainly brought back memories.

YASMIN: Thanks.
(She goes through.)
HARKNESS: Thanks? That's it?
YASMIN: Are you feeling insecure? Cos you seem to need a lot of praise.

"Ooh, she got you there." Mickey cheered, glad to see Jack taken down a peg (in a friendly way).

HARKNESS: Do I?

"Absolutely." Yaz doubled down on her future self's declaration. She'd only seen evidence to confirm her words after all during these videos.

[Mutant cloning farm]

YASMIN: Through here. Those things. They were what was inside the Dalek we met.
HARKNESS: Inside every Dalek. This is a clone farm. They're not growing food here, they're... they're growing Daleks.

"Worst kind of farm ever." Ryan grimaced.

[Downing Street]

(The obligatory press statement outside No 10.)
PATTERSON: As your new Prime Minister, I can see great opportunities ahead for this country. We here in Britain, we've never been afraid of the future, but I do understand that what we all crave right now is security. Security in our politics, security in our jobs, security for our families. I pledge to bring stability and security to every aspect of our national life. Together, we can make this the age of security.

"Security is the last thing anyone is going to have." Clara remarked, unimpressed by Patterson's statement.

[Tardis]

ROBERTSON: What's happening here? What are we actually doing?
DOCTOR: Going to Osaka - fast!
ROBERTSON: What about...? What about this blue box? What is it? It's a... It's a doorway? It can't be. That was my hallway. I don't understand.

"No one explain it to him." Bill grinned, far too excited to see his reaction and confusion.

(The Tardis is in flight.)
RYAN: Should we explain it to him?
GRAHAM: Nah, it's more fun watching him struggle.

"Glad you agree." Bill grinned at the two.

DOCTOR: As hard as it is for you to understand, this isn't about you. This is about Daleks.
ROBERTSON: Please stop using that word. It has no meaning.
DOCTOR: Yes, it does. To billions of people, Dalek means hate. Daleks are creatures of hate and aggression. Daleks are insidious, relentless and clever, and, like hate, they will spread if they're not stopped. Never underestimate a Dalek.

"I doubt even that is going to get through to him." Clara pointed out; they were all too familiar with his type to be too hopeful.

[Downing Street]

PATTERSON: Which is why I am unveiling today a very exciting, new solution to an age-old problem. We will harness the technological revolution to enhance your safety. We will alleviate pressure on police and security staff and all without draining the public purse.
(Four Daleks trundle into view.)

"I bet UNIT and anyone who has had the misfortune of seeing a Dalek before just had a heart attack." Amy remarked.

Yaz, Graham, Ryan and the Doctor all shared a look. This was in the brief time when UNIT had been disbanded, but there were certainly people on Earth who would have known a Dalek on sight.

[Mutant cloning farm]

HARKNESS: Oi! Can you hurry up and help me with this?
YASMIN: I need to take a sample of the liquid. I want to know what it's being fed on. Might give us a clue on how to stop 'em.
HARKNESS: Huh. We're going to blow 'em up, kid. That's how we stop 'em.

"Two very different approaches." Rory raised an eyebrow.

Donna just nodded, "You can tell who has been travelling with the Doctor recently." While the Doctor was prone to blowing things up, they usually tried the science and diplomatic reasoning approach first. Yaz was trying to find answers, and Jack was just excited for fireworks.

(He sets explosives around the canister supports. But one mutant is out and on the move. Mucus drops, he looks up and it jumps onto his face.)

"You have company." Mickey pointed out a bit pointlessly. The room had all tensed up as the situation escalated and an immediate threat to their lives presented itself.

"You don't say." Jack drawled.

YASMIN: Jack!
(Another one leaps onto her back. Jack pulls the one off his face and blasts it with his gun.)
YASMIN: Get it off me!
HARKNESS: Stand still! Yaz, don't move!
(Blast.)
YASMIN: Nice shot.

"Might be time to get out of there." Martha encouraged.

[Downing Street]

PATTERSON: As of now, you will see new defence drones at work on Britain's streets, in our institutions, at our borders and national monuments.
(At the Tower of London.)
PATTERSON: These technological innovations are set to make Britain more secure.

"Of course, they've already been deployed." Clara sighed. That meant more people were at risk and the group had more ground to cover to stop the Daleks when everything inevitably went wrong.

[Tardis]

(Ryan puts on a beanie hat.)
DOCTOR: You do love a beanie. Me too. One of the first things I noticed about you that night we met. I thought, not everyone can carry off a yellow beanie. There's a lad to rely on. Four minutes to Osaka.

"Is this you attempting an emotional conversation?" Rose asked with a raised eyebrow at the Doctor, "Somehow you've gotten even worse at them." The Doctor pouted slightly but didn't disagree.

RYAN: Yeah. Okay.
DOCTOR: I'm sorry about the ten months. More sorry than I can ever really say.
RYAN: This thing, innit? You never really quite got the hang of it.
DOCTOR: I missed you all so much.
RYAN: Yeah? We missed you too.

"I don't know which of you two is worse here." Yaz glanced between the two. Suddenly her emotional chat with Jack seemed a lot better than this ... wreck of a conversation.

DOCTOR: But you've been good?
RYAN: Yeah, maybe it's what I needed.

Martha glanced at Ryan curious, she was getting a familiar feeling from the younger man. She had a strong suspicion she might know how this video ends for him.

DOCTOR: Oh, yeah. Ah. Maybe it was.
RYAN: Hmm. I saw me dad.
DOCTOR: Oh, good. Well, was it good? He's all right?

"I'm guessing there's a story there." Bill asked curiously, raising an eyebrow at Ryan.

He just shook his head, "It's a long story." If they needed to know, they'd find out eventually. Until then, he wasn't ready to share it.

RYAN: Yeah, he's back at the oil rigs again. Due back in a couple of weeks. But, yeah, we're good. We're getting there. Time to reconnect with him, time to see me mates, see what's happening on the old planet. Lots of work to be done here on Earth.

"Always is." Mickey nodded, sharing a look with his wife.

DOCTOR: Yeah. Always. Well, it sounds like you enjoyed being back.
RYAN: It's home.
DOCTOR: Yeah.
RYAN: What's happening with your home? You know, what happened to you on Gallifrey?
DOCTOR: All life there destroyed, thanks to the death particle and Ko Sharmus.

Several members of the group winced at the reminder of what happened on Gallifrey, this conversation just kept getting worse and worse.

RYAN: And the Master? What did he want with you?

"What does he ever want?" Jack scowled, glaring at the Master who'd been observing quietly from his corner. At the mention of Gallifrey and his own name, he'd sat up straighter.

DOCTOR: It doesn't even matter now.

"Oh, it always matters my dear." The Master smirked. The Doctor gave him a wary look before turning back to the screen. If he'd escaped Gallifrey then she should probably be wary of what scheme he was cooking up; because there was no doubt, he was up to something.

RYAN: No, no, no. Don't give me that. Right? I see what you're doing. You're trying to avoid the subject. We've known each other long enough now. I know when something's changed.
DOCTOR: Me too. I'm not who I thought I was, Ryan. What I always knew to be the story of my life... isn't true. I wasn't born on Gallifrey. Where I'm from, all the lives I've lived, some of that has been hidden from me, and I don't even know how much.

"And you've had far too much time to think about it in that prison cell." Clara muttered, giving the Doctor a concerned look. They never did well on their own, the Confession Dial was testament to that. The Doctor landing in prison after all the revelations of the Timeless Child was not an optimum situation.

RYAN: Seriously? And how do you feel about that?
DOCTOR: Mostly... angry. While I was locked away, all I kept thinking was, if I'm not who I thought I was, then who am I?
RYAN: You're the Doctor. Same as before, same as always.

"Same trouble finding alien mess as always." Bill smiled softly at the Doctor; the Doctor's responding smile was wobbly but present.

DOCTOR: Right. Same Doctor, same Ryan. Nothing's changed.
RYAN: No. No. I didn't say that, did I? Things change all the time, and they should, cos they have to. Same with people. Sometimes we get a bit scared, cos new can be a bit scary, right?

Graham nudged Ryan, grabbing his attention and giving him a proud smile. The pair may be slightly emotionally constipated but they were trying and Ryan was giving some decent advice.

DOCTOR: New can be very scary.
RYAN: So, when we're done with this Dalek problem, you find out about your own life. Confront the new, or the old. And then everything will be all right.

"Maybe not everything." Ryan fixed his future self's advice, "But you'll be starting down the right path."

DOCTOR: Will it?
RYAN: No doubt. What?
DOCTOR: Thank you, Ryan, for being my friend.
RYAN: Thank you for being mine.
DOCTOR: Always.
(Judder, materialisation starts.)
DOCTOR: Osaka.

"Finally." Yaz sighed, "Not sure how much of that I could take." Despite her words she gave the pair fond smiles.

[Mutant cloning farm]

HARKNESS: Oh-ho-ho! I've missed that sound.

Jack smiled fondly, nodding along with his future self on screen. That was putting it lightly.

DOCTOR: Whoa!
ROBERTSON: Wait, what just happened?
RYAN: Still not telling him?
GRAHAM: Nah.

"Keep him confused as long as possible." Clara chuckled; enjoying Robertson's confusion like many of the people in the room.

ROBERTSON: Where am I?
YASMIN: Did you really have to bring him?
GRAHAM: Yaz!
YASMIN: Graham.

"You saw each other like an hour or two ago." Ryan looked between the pair on screen and the pair in the room confused by their reaction to each other.

"Don't look at us, son." Graham shrugged, "This is the future for us as well."

ROBERTSON: Oh, what are those things?
DOCTOR: The creatures that live inside Daleks. But who built all this?!
DALEK/LEO: I have.

"And he shows himself finally." Amy crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes, very suspicious about where this was going.

ROBERTSON: Leo?
DOCTOR: Don't get too close!
ROBERTSON: I warned you about that thing.
DOCTOR: What have you done, Leo? Cloned the smallest trace of organic material, not understanding that Dalek consciousness can live within the tiniest fragment of their DNA. You weren't to know. You're safe. We're here for you. We're going to get you out of here alive.
DALEK/LEO: You give this body false hope.

"They remain completely aware of the possession?" Martha asked looking horrified.

The Doctor grimaced but nodded, "Unfortunately."

DOCTOR: All right, then, Dalek, or whatever you are, tell me how you've built all this.
DALEK/LEO: I connected myself into the neural network. I inserted myself into the organisation, into every network. I located this place, created it. Every piece of equipment, every idea behind it... I did that.
ROBINSON: Wait a minute. First of all, that's not possible. Where did you get the purchase order numbers in the first place?

Mickey snorted, "He really has his priorities sorted."

Martha raised an eyebrow at her husband, making Mickey shrug. "What?" he continued, "I didn't say it was a good order."

RYAN: Really, that's what's bugging you most right now?
DALEK/LEO: I used your systems to buy this building, to order equipment, to pay humans to construct and to continue the clone work. I used your systems to build an army all in my image.
YASMIN: But where are the workers? Where are the people who did all the cloning?

"I think we can guess." Rory grimaced, all too aware of what likely had happened anyone misfortunate enough to have worked there.

DALEK/LEO: Once the experiments were working, they became... unnecessary. We found them another use.
HARKNESS: What, you're feeding cloned Dalek creatures liquidised humans?
DALEK/LEO: Correct.

"That's horrifying." Bill muttered wide eyed at the screen, grimacing. She was getting increasingly grateful that she'd had minimum contact with the Daleks herself.

ROBERTSON: This is a PR disaster.

"He really never stops." Yaz shook her head sighing.

DOCTOR: But there's something else that's bugging me. What is it?
YASMIN: Is it the light? The light's been changing really slowly ever since we've been here.

"Observant." River nodded approvingly at Yaz.

DOCTOR: Yes, it is. Thanks, Yaz. I missed you, Yaz. Right, why is that important? Oh, there's too much going on. Where was I? Yes. How are you going to get off this planet?
DALEK/LEO: We will not.

"Ah, so world conquering it is." Jack nodded, understanding the Dalek's plan quickly. "Just a normal Tuesday."

DOCTOR: I'm sorry?
DALEK/LEO: The planet is ours. It will be converted.
YASMIN: Converted into what?

"Good question." Amy pointed out, "Usually its just world domination and kill everything."

DALEK/LEO: We shall use this planet as a base from which to conquer this sector of the universe.

"Fun times." Nardole frowned.

DOCTOR: There's a long way between squatting in a Japanese lab and subjugating humanity. I mean, you don't even have bodies. What are you going to do, order people from your tanks? Even if you made it to those shells down there, which you can't. You can't. I mean, you definitely can't. The... Those shells aren't even weaponised. They're not proper Daleks. He built them.

"I wouldn't bet against it." Rose shook her head.

YASMIN: Doctor, what's the matter?
DOCTOR: The light.
DALEK/LEO: The shells were built in his factories. Do you think I've not augmented those designs also?
DOCTOR: Where's the light? We have to turn off the light!

"Ah." River suddenly grimaced, glancing at her wife who just nodded. They'd both worked out what the light meant.

"Ah?" Martha questioned, glancing between the pair.

The Doctor just frowned and waved back to the screen; they were sure they'd see soon.

HARKNESS: Why, Doctor?
DOCTOR: Ultraviolet light. The Recon Dalek used it to come back together.
DALEK/LEO: Activate!
(All the clones vanish from their tanks.)

"So much for them not being able to use the shells." Clara sighed, shaking her head. The situation was just about to get even worse.

DALEK/LEO: My project shall be complete.
(And transmat into shells in labs.)
DALEK/LEO: The New Dalek Army shall have but one purpose.

"Let me guess, Exterminate?" Amy crossed her arms unimpressed.

[Research lab]

(The water jet is now an energy weapon.)
DALEK: Exterminate! Exterminate!
(At the institutions, borders and national monuments, police and civilians die.)

"They didn't waste any time." Mickey scowled at the screen as the Daleks immediately started to attack, killing innocent people.

[Downing Street]

PATTERSON: It appears that there are some teething issues with the... with the drones, so I appeal to everybody to keep calm. The drones are completely under our control, so we're working to shut them down...

"She has no idea what's coming." Rose shook her head. They could all predict what was going to happen next, and the inability to stop it or change anything was infuriating.

DALEK: Territorial leader identified. Daleks will not be shut down. Daleks are supreme.
PATTERSON: This must be some sort of a joke.
DALEK: Daleks do not joke.
PATTERSON: And I do not surrender.
DALEK: Exterminate! This territory is the property of the Daleks. Daleks are in control. All humanity will be exterminated.

The group winced as Patterson was killed; she may have helped cause this mess and may not have been morally correct at times but she didn't deserve to die like that. Nor did anyone else that had already or were going to die before the group stopped them.

[Mutant cloning farm]

DOCTOR: How many Daleks did you build?
ROBERTSON: Look, I don't know.
DOCTOR: How many?!
ROBERSTON: Thousands!

Jack whistled lowly, "That's no small army." It wasn't going to be easy to defeat that many Daleks, let alone quickly enough to reduce casualties.

LEO: Stop.
DOCTOR: You don't have to kill him.
DALEK/LEO: Correct. I do not have to, and yet...

"They do it anyway because it's a Dalek." Clara stated solemnly, sharing a long look with the Doctor.

(Zapping.)
LEO: I'm sorry.
ROBERTSON: Oh, Leo!

The group gave Leo a moment of silence. He may have been too smart for his own good, cloning the Dalek and getting them further into this mess but he certainly hadn't deserved to be controlled and then killed like that.

DOCTOR: No weapons. No time to think. All that time in a cell wondering who I am. I'm the Doctor. I'm the one who stops the Daleks. All of you, to the Tardis now!

"Hope you've got a plan Doctor." Ryan nodded at the Doctor in the room with them. Their future wasn't exactly looking bright at the moment.

"I hope so too, Ryan." The Doctor frowned at the screen, mentally running through all the options and trying to come up with a plan or figure out what was going to happen.

[Tardis]

DOCTOR: Only one thing I can think of. Nuclear option. Nuclear option that might backfire.

"As normal." Martha shook her head, but everyone could see the fond smile fighting at the corner of her mouth.

HARKNESS: If it's what I think you're thinking, you'd better stop thinking it right now. Way too big a risk.
YASMIN: How big a risk?
HARKNESS: Planet-threatening.
DOCTOR: Got any better ideas? Cos now is your moment. I'm all ears. Exactly!

"How do we always get in these situations?" Jack sighed; this mess was bringing back far too memories most unpleasant.

RYAN: So, what is it you're going to do?
DOCTOR: They're built from the original Reconnaissance Dalek. I'm going to give them what they wanted in the first place.
YASMIN: What's she doing?
HARKNESS: Something you never want to do.

"That's something we do on the regular, but not an actual answer." Yaz countered, turning to Jack and the Doctor in the room with them having guessed they'd worked out what their future selves were planning.

The pair shared a look, confirming Yaz's theory. Jack broke eye contact first, shaking his head as he turned to Yaz, "Just watch."

GRAHAM: Doc, what have you done?
DOCTOR: Sent a message through the timelines into the Vortex, cos I know they're in there, like sharks in water. Always scoping, always ready.

"Wait?" Rory leaned forward in his chair, blinking as he tried to work out what the Doctor had just done. "You just called for more Daleks? Are you crazy?"

"No more than normal." The Doctor grimaced, hoping sincerely that her future self's plan would work.

[Saucer]

DALEK: Incoming reconnaissance signal detected.
SUPREME: Strategise!
DALEK: Programme destination for Earth. Resistance must be expected!
DALEK 2: Ready attack formation protocols!

"They got your message." Rose commented with a frown at the sight of the Dalek ship. "Let's hope you know what you're doing Doctor."

[Tardis]

ROBERTSON: Who's in there?
DOCTOR: The ship you never want to see arriving on your planet.
ROBERTSON: What's on it?
DOCTOR: Death Squad Daleks. Think of them like the SAS of Daleks.

"So, the exact opposite of what you want." Bill waved her hands around, confused at what the Doctor was planning.

Clara shook her head, leaning forward and narrowing her eyes as a thought came to mind. Giving the Doctor a considering look she cast her gaze back to the screen, "Or exactly what you want in this situation."

HARKNESS: Only way more brutal.
DOCTOR: They're our best hope right now.
GRAHAM: But they're going to kill more humans.
DOCTOR: They don't care about humans. They're the enforcers of the Dalek race.

"And the Daleks attacking Eartha aren't pure." Yaz realised, eyes lighting up as she caught onto the Doctor's plan.

"Exactly." The Doctor nodded proudly. She just had to hope she was correct that they cared more about the other Daleks.

"Wait, but how are you getting rid of the winners?" Ryan asked.

The Doctor but her lip, "Good question. Haven't quite worked that bit out yet, but hoping future me has."

"Great." Graham shook his head, that didn't sound promising.

YASMIN: To combat Daleks, you've brought more Daleks?
DOCTOR: Yes, but they don't know that I'm behind the transmission, and it's quite important that they don't realise I'm here. We've got previous. We're not best mates.

"That's putting things lightly." Amy snored. The Doctor regularly earned her title of the Daleks' number one enemy.

GRAHAM: All right, look, so if your plan works and this set of Daleks kills his lot.
ROBERTSON: It's not my lot.

"Not the time Robertson." Yaz shook her head.

GRAHAM: Thank do we get rid of the new ones?
DOCTOR: That's phase two of the plan. It'll be down to us.

"Oh, so you do have a plan." Rory noted hopeful yet still with a hint of doubt.

[Street]

(Flying Daleks taking pot-shots.)
DALEKS: Feeble humans, do not run! Your bodies are too slow for Daleks! Daleks are in control of this territory! Humans shall be exterminated! The New Dalek Army is in control! Daleks are reborn! Nothing shall stop the supremacy of the New Dalek Army!
(The saucer arrives in Japan.)

"Daleks vs Daleks." Mickey leaned forward, "Is it bad that I'm kind of excited to see this play out?"

"Yes." Martha declared but matched her husband's posture, eyes latched on the screen curious.

[Saucer]

SUPREME: Analysis!
DALEK: Scan determines rogue creatures below! Mutated Dalek DNA detected!
SUPREME: Prepare for maximum extermination!

"Maximum extermination, hmm." Nardole muttered quietly, raising an eyebrow.

[Bridge]

(The Tardis is parked on top of the Clifton Suspension Bridge as the Daleks fly over.)
DALEKS: Primary rogue impurities located! Isolate and engage primary rogue Dalek impurities! Seek and destroy all other Dalek impurities! Engaging primary rogue Dalek impurities! Halt. Stay where you are! Daleks are now in control! In control! In control!
(A squad lands and faces a squad of defence drones.)

"Show down." Bill cheered quietly.

DRONES: Daleks are already in control.
DALEK: Identify!
DRONE: Dalek!
DALEK: Incorrect. Scan detects anomalies. Dalek DNA merged with human traces.

"They're really not going to like that." Clara declared, leaning back in her seat. Mutated Dalek DNA was bad enough, but with human traces? That was even worse. The last video had proven that too.

DRONE: We have mutated to survive.
DALEK: You are impure! The Dalek race must have purity! Exterminate!
DALEKS: Exterminate the impurities! Exterminate the impurities! Exterminate the impurities!
DOCTOR: That's the thing about Daleks. For a race born out of mutation, they're pretty obsessed with purity.

"Hypocritical." River stated, "As many things are."

ROBERTSON: All that product. Maybe I can make a claim on insurance.

"He really never stops, does he?" Rose scowled, all these mentions of Dalek mutations reminding her too much of the video they'd just watched which she wasn't a big fan off. There were certainly similarities between Robertson and Van Statten, and she doubted Roberston was done making bad decisions.

DOCTOR: Get back in the Tardis.
ROBERTSON: I don't take my orders from you, Doctor. Those are powerful, intelligent creatures. I'm backing them.

"It's official. He's reached peak stupidity." Yaz scowled at the screen. The only thing helping the Daleks was going to do was cause more trouble and get Robertson killed.

DOCTOR: Don't be stupid. They will kill you.
ROBERTSON: I don't think so. See you later.
DOCTOR: Robertson, get back here! Oh.
(The Tardis dematerialises. The Daleks have obliterated the drones.)

"Time for part B of that plan, Doctor." Amy declared. The drones were gone but they still had to get rid of the actual Daleks.

DALEK: Exterminate!
ROBERTSON: No, wait, wait. I come in peace.
DALEK: Who are you?
ROBERTSON: I speak for humanity.

"No, he certainly does not!" Donna protested furiously.

DALEK: You are the leader of this planet?
ROBERTSON: Yes. And I'm your best ally here.

"He's enjoying having power far too much." Ryan shook hie head scowling.

"He doesn't even have any actual power." Graham protested.

Ryan just waved him off, "That doesn't matter to him."

DALEK: Daleks do not need allies.
ROBERTSON: I know how the Earth works. I have information. I can guide you.

"They don't care about that." Mickey shook his head at Robertson, he really wasn't one for listening.

DALEK: Daleks have no need of guidance from humans. You are unimportant.
ROBERTSON: I can see how you might think that, but, er, I'm no ordinary human.
DALEK: We shall destroy Dalek impurities!
ROBERTSON: Of course. But when you're done with that, you're going to want the planet too, right? Don't you think that would go down well with your fellow Daleks?

"Is he seriously trying to sell out Earth?" Bill shook her head, but wasn't entirely surprised by the lengths Robertson was going to. He had a shovel and was very prepare to dig his own grave.

DALEK: You would betray your own race? You would betray humanity?
ROBERTSON: Sure. And I have some other information. The signal that brought you here?

"He better not." River scowled at the screen, grabbing the Doctor's hand for comfort. Telling the Daleks exactly who had brough them here was only going to end in more trouble.

DALEK: Explain!
ROBERTSON: First, I want to meet who's in charge here. In other words, take me to your leader.

"He's been wanting to say that for a while." Jack sighed, unsurprised at this point.

[Tardis]

DOCTOR: Phase one of the plan is working. Daleks destroying other Daleks in order to save humanity. Now, phase two. Jack, how do you feel about boarding an SAS Dalek ship?
HARKNESS: Can I blow it up?
DOCTOR: Yes, please.

"Then, absolutely." Jack grinned, saluting the Doctor who rolled her eyes at his dramatics.

HARKNESS: My kind of plan. I have Dalek issues.

"You don't say." Rose drawled, giving Jack a deadpanned look. Jack knew her well enough to see the genuine concern peaking through; if anyone knew how many bad memories this video might be bringing up it was Rose.

RYAN: No kidding?
HARKNESS: You never forget your first death.

"Seriously, one day you're going to tell us that story." Ryan pointed at the man in the room with them,

Jack shrugged, "I'm sure it will be shown at some point." He glanced at Rose and the Doctor who shared a frown, it wasn't like it was an insignificant event after all.

RYAN: Me and Graham are coming with you.
GRAHAM: Are we?
RYAN: Big Dalek ship, only one guy. If we don't help, the human race is going down.

"You just want to help blow stuff up." Yaz grinned at Ryan.

"Maybe a little." Ryan admitted, able to guess his future self's reasoning. What he didn't add was that it also left Yaz and the Doctor alone to work out their own issues after the separation.

GRAHAM: Yeah, yeah, he's right. We're coming with you.
HARKNESS: Whoa, whoa, are you okay with this?

The Doctor snorted, "Since when could I stop anyone of you doing anything you set your minds on? You're all far too stubborn for your own good."

"Learnt from the best." River countered with a fond smile.

DOCTOR: I couldn't stop them even if I wanted to. No detonation until we're sure that the SAS Daleks have destroyed all of Robertson's creations.
YASMIN: And before you're all clear of the Dalek ship, obviously.

The Doctor's hand tensed in River's hold, drawing a concerned frown to her wife's lips. Glancing to the Doctor beside her, found her eyes glazed over, mind obviously somewhere in the past rather than focused on the screen. She wondered what part of Yaz's words had triggered the reaction, but didn't question it, just squeezing their joined hands to remind the Doctor she was there.

Slowly, the Doctor's attention turned back to the present, eventually she managed a slightly shaky smile and nod in River's direction before she turned back to the screen in earnest.

RYAN: Obviously. We didn't come this far just to get exterminated.

"Not a nice way to go." Jack nodded, wincing at the memory of the pain. Rose glanced at him in concern, but her just waved her off.

HARKNESS: Okay, boys. Hold tight. Cos here we go.
(Vortex manipulator activates.)

The Doctor shook her head at the device, "Nasty time travel."

"But effective." Jack countered. "And gives you less bruises than your driving does." The Doctor pouted in response as several members of the group snickered.

DOCTOR: Right.

[Saucer]

HARKNESS: Okay, command centre is down that way. Do not go that way. That's where most of the Daleks will be. Are you clear on what to do?
RYAN: Yeah. Spread these things out and don't get killed.

"Simple mission." Rory nodded.

"But unlikely to stay that way long." Amy added on making Rory sigh at his wife's pessimistic (but likely accurate) attitude.

HARKNESS: That's it. Good luck.
GRAHAM: Oh. That's it, eh? Ryan, see, this is our area of expertise. First, the Cyber dudes, now the Daleks. No alien ship is safe from us two bad boys.

"Cyber dudes?" Bill chuckled as Ryan groaned, embarrassed.

(Graham offers a fist bump.)
GRAHAM: What?
RYAN: Stop talking weird, Graham.
GRAHAM: Sorry.

"Oh, Ryan." Yaz grinned teasing, "Graham was just trying to fit in."

"Don't you start." Ryan rolled his eyes as Graham looked between the two a bit lost.

DALEK [OC]: Alert! Internal ship sensors report non-Dalek life forms on board! Seek, locate and exterminate all non-Dalek life forms!

"That didn't take long." Martha sighed. The deadliest game of hide and seek had just begun.

(Harkness avoids a patrol and overhears -)
ROBERTSON: Okay. Who's in charge here? I only want to talk to the boss.

"He's still alive?" Mickey asked, genuinely surprised at that. They'd have thought he would have annoyed the Daleks enough to kill him by now.

"Apparently." Yaz shrugged, frowning. If Robertson revealed the Doctor was behind the signal it could put their whole mission in jeopardy, and Ryan, Graham and Jack were frightening close to too many Daleks for comfort.

SUPREME: Speak!
ROBERTSON: Well, first of all, you need to know that I'm on your side. Now, to prove that, I can tell you this. You're all headed into a trap. The person who summoned you, she's called the Doctor.

The room all groaned in sync. They'd all been expecting it, but it didn't make it any less frustrating to see.

"Because he couldn't get any worse." Bill shook her head.

Rose sighed, "There goes the element of surprise." She nodded at Ryan, Graham and Jack. "You might want to hurry up with planting those explosives." The sooner they got out of there the better.

SUPREME: The Doctor is an enemy of the Dalek race!
ROBERTSON: I know. So, here's the deal. You let me live, I help you find her.

"That idiot." River scowled at the screen; as if she didn't dislike Robertson enough.

"Humans." The Master spoke up from his corner, snorting degradingly at the screen. No one graced him with a response, though a few noted curiously that he only spoke up when the Doctor was being endangered by Robertson.

HARKNESS: Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
DALEK: Incoming emergency spatial shift! Exterminate!
DRONE: Do not exterminate. I am Dalek. Halt!

"Please tell me they are not about to team up against the Doctor." Clara groaned, shaking her head in disbelief. The plan had been going so well, and Robertson just had to ruin it!

SUPREME: We have exterminated all impurities! You are the final remaining impurity!

"The final one?" Martha noted quickly, "That's good news." That significantly lowered the number of Daleks on Earth down and just left the actual ones (who were more dangerous admittedly but one problem at a time).

DRONE: I am not impure. I am a survivor, the last remains of a reconnaissance scout. I surveyed this planet. I attempted to alert the fleet. I have served, given my life for the Dalek cause.
SUPREME: But you are impure.
DRONE: I can be purified. My genetics can be modified.
SUPREME: There is only one purification. Exterminate!

"Thank god." Donna nodded relived as the Dalek did not even consider the drone's offer. The last thing they needed was more Daleks with a grudge against the Doctor.

(Robertson sneaks away.)

"So, he does have some sense of self-preservation." Mickey snorted as he noticed Robertson sneak away as the Daleks dealt with the final drone.

"I think that's the least of his problems." Yaz countered with a scowl.

HARKNESS: Argh!
RYAN: Jack, explosives all laid. Good to go.
HARKNESS: Sort of.
GRAHAM: What do you mean?
HARKNESS: (comms) Doctor, I've got some good news and some bad news.

"Good news: ship is ready to go boom. Bad news: we've been rumbled." Jack summarised.

[Tardis]

HARKNESS [OC]: The good news is the last of Robertson's Daleks has been destroyed.

"That too." He added on. Part A of the plan had been successful, they just had to hope part B would go just as well.

DOCTOR: Can we stop there and pretend there's no bad news?

"I wish." River sighed. Yet, there always seemed to be bad news.

HARKNESS [OC]: The bad news is Robertson is negotiating with the Daleks and has sold you out. The Daleks know it was you who brought them here, as a trap.
DOCTOR: I knew I wouldn't like the bad news.

"That's the reason it's called 'bad', Doctor." Amy pointed out with a cheeky grin. The Doctor just rolled her eyes at her mother-in-law.

YASMIN: What do we do?
DOCTOR: Right, just running through the options... which hasn't taken long. Even if we blow up the ship, there's still SAS Daleks marauding through Earth's skies. And now they know I'm here!

"Bait." Clara sighed, quickly figuring out their only option. It was the answer far too much of the time.

"Unfortunately." The Doctor agreed with a grimace.

YASMIN: So we have to keep you out their way.
DOCTOR: Or...
YASMIN: Or what?
DOCTOR: Shh. Working.
YASMIN: Doctor, tell me.
DOCTOR: You're gonna have to trust me on this, Yaz. When have I ever let you down before? I won't disappear again.

Ryan whistled lowly, glancing quickly between Yaz and the Doctor, the atmosphere in the room a bit awkward now.

"Well, that's a loaded statement."

"Jack!"

(Tardis is in flight.)
YASMIN: Yeah, you will. One day, you will.

"Yaz..." The Doctor trailed off, unsure what to say.

Yaz just shook her head, not meeting the Doctor's eyes, instead glancing around the rest of the room at all the understanding looks and smiles from previous companions. It was a fact; one she'd just have to get used to one day; but at least she knew she wouldn't be alone when that day eventually came.

(Tardis lands.)
YASMIN: Where are we?
DOCTOR: Right, come here and monitor this timer. Jack, I need you to be ready to get everyone off that ship and detonate. Yaz'll tell you when.

"No one even think about self-sacrifice." The Doctor waved a finger at the four sternly. She wasn't sure she could deal with that again.

"Same back at you Doctor." Jack gave her a pointed look, which she answered with a stiff nod. Understood.

[Saucer]

HARKNESS: What about the other Daleks?

[Tardis]

DOCTOR: I'm dealing with them!

[Saucer]

ROBERTSON: Oh! Hey. I'm a bit lost.

"What's he expecting?" Rory asked confused about what Robertson was aiming for now.

(Alarm sounds.)
DALEK [OC]: Alert, alert!
ROBERTSON: Didn't sound good. Do you want to get that?
DALEK: Remain here.
DALEK [OC]: All Dalek units, report to central control. The Doctor is detected! Extermination formations, assemble! Tardis location identified!

"Your plan's working." Rose nodded at the Doctor. They just had to hope it would keep working.

(The guys grab Robertson.)
GRAHAM: Give us one good reason why we should save your life.
ROBERTSON: Money?

Ryan let out a frustrated noise, how could Robertson still be this stupid?

HARKNESS: I still say we should leave him here.
GRAHAM: Yeah.
DALEK: Exterminate!
HARKNESS: Go!

Several members of the group nodded or made rumbles of agreement, yet they all knew none of them would actually do it no matter how annoying Robertson was.

[Mid-air]

DALEKS: The Doctor's Tardis is located. Surround the Tardis!
DOCTOR: Hey! Daleks! Over here!

"I hope you have a plan here Doctor." River gave her wife a worried look.

"So do I." She admitted, reassuring no one.

DALEK: It is the Doctor! The Doctor is an enemy of the Daleks!
DOCTOR: Yes, it is. And, yes, I am. I called you here and you came, like obedient little pets. Thanks for solving my problem.
DALEK: Daleks are not pets of the Doctor!
DOCTOR: Yes, you are. Why? What are you going to do about it? Cos I'm just standing here, in my Tardis.
DALEK: Attack the Tardis! Exterminate the Doctor!
(The Doctor pushes both doors open and the Daleks fly inside.)

"I'm sorry, what?" Donna exclaimed in disbelief as the Doctor just let the Daleks enter the Tardis. The group was all shooting the Doctor concerned and confused looks, to which she just shrugged. She wasn't entirely sure what her future-self had planned; they'd just have to watch to find out.

[Saucer]

GRAHAM: You're sure this is the right way?
RYAN: There's Daleks everywhere!

"There's only one way and that's out, away from the Daleks." Rory declared.

Ryan snorted, "That still doesn't help us actually get out."

GRAHAM: We've got to get us out of here.
DALEK: You are intruders!
ROBERTSON: This is a terrible rescue!

"It wasn't exactly planned as a rescue." Martha pointed out, rolling her eyes at Robertson.

DALEK: Intruders located! Life forms identified!
GRAHAM: We're surrounded!
DALEK: Do not move!
DALEK 2: Do not move!
RYAN: Hey, are we ready? Do I detonate?

"No!" Yaz exclaimed, shooting forward in her seat. The Doctor matched her panic look, both shaking their heads at Ryan.

"Okay, okay." Ryan raised his hands in mock surrender.

HARKNESS: Almost. Grab hold.

"Time to get out of there." Amy urged the group.

"Past time." Clara agreed.

[Tardis]

YASMIN: Now, Jack! Get off the ship!

[Saucer]

DALEK: Intruders, identify!
HARKNESS: I'm Captain Jack Harkness. And I'm immortal. Ha!
DALEK: Exterminate!
(Vortex manipulator activated just before the Daleks fire. The Saucer explodes.)

Rose shook her head, fond smile on her face. "Had to get the last word in, didn't you Jack?"

[A Tardis]

SUPREME: Dalek craft destroyed!
DALEK: Where is the Doctor?! Search the Tardis! Exterminate the Doctor!
DOCTOR [hologram]: Oh, mate! You fell for the old switcheroo. Awkward. That's not my Tardis. I had a spare one lying around, so I used the chameleon circuit to make it look like mine, and guess who fell for it? You guys.

The group let out a sigh of relief as the Doctor revealed the part of the plan that meant she wasn't in actual danger and the Daleks weren't in the real Tardis.

DALEK: We shall find you. We have control of a Tardis!

"I don't think that will last long." Martha grinned, not doubting the Doctor had planned this far ahead for once.

DOCTOR [hologram]: No, you don't. Sorry. More bad news. I've programmed it to fold in on itself and send itself to the heart of the Void, which will of course break it apart and destroy you in the process. Thanks for helping today. Won't be seeing you later.

"Cold, Doctor." Despite her words, Bill was grinning as the last part of the Doctor's plan revealed itself to them.

"That's one way to deal with the Daleks." Jack nodded approvingly at the Doctor.

DALEK: You will not escape us, Doctor!
DOCTOR [hologram]: Yes, I will. Every time.

"They never learn." Amy shook her head at the Daleks. They were always so confident that this would be the time they killed the Doctor, and they were always proven wrong in the end.

(The Tardis dimensions fold down to a dot and vanish.)

[Tardis]

(The men materialise.)
RYAN: Oh, that was horrible.

"Nasty way to travel."

"You've already said, Doctor."

GRAHAM: I feel sick.
ROBERTSON: What just happened to me?

"No one explain anything to him." Bill immediately declared, "He's lost any privilege for explanations." He'd already proven he couldn't be trusted with it, plus it was entertaining to see how confused he got.

HARKNESS: Did we do it?
YASMIN: We did it!
DOCTOR: Daleks all exiled. Now, you have got a lot of explaining to do.
ROBERTSON: I was deliberately acting as a decoy.

"I'd say make Robertson explain." Clara started, "But I don't think you want that." He'd likely take credit for everything and put some weird twist on the whole story as if he wasn't the cause behind it all to begin with.

[Graham's home]

MAITLIS [TV]: They're calling him the saviour of humanity, the man who stood up to the invaders on behalf of us all. Now, as rumours intensify that he may be in line for an honorary knighthood, Jack Robertson spoke to me from his home in the United States.

"Seriously!" Ryan groaned, throwing his hands up in frustration.

ROBERTSON [TV]: Emily, I did what any man - person, human person - would do in those circumstances.
MAITLIS [TV]: There's even talk of a revived presidential run for you.

"Please don't let that idiot run a country." Yaz begged any higher being that may be listening. The last thing they needed was Robertson in a place of more power.

ROBERTSON [TV]: Well, I can't really answer to that.
(TV off.)
GRAHAM: Can you believe that?
RYAN: Yeah, I can.

"When do things work out for us." Yaz shook her head.

GRAHAM: We should go and meet the Doc.
(Graham leaves the room.)
RYAN: Yeah.

Martha glanced between the pair, focusing her attention more on Ryan. She had a funny feeling she knew what was still to come.

[Tardis]

(Parked outside the block of flats.)
HARKNESS [OC]: Sorry, lost track of time. Gwen Cooper sends her love, by the way. Says she took out a Dalek with a moped and her son's boxing gloves. Hoo-hoo! Anyway, I'm going to stick around on Earth and catch up with her. I'll call ya.

Jack cheered up, grinning at the mention of Gwen and her family. It was good to know they were safe and still fighting.

"Go Gwen." Martha laughed; one of the few in the room who had actually met Gwen or any of the old Torchwood team.

DOCTOR: Send my love to Gwen. Okay, bye! Right, fam, I thought we could try the Meringue Galaxy. It's not a place, it's a restaurant where every course is meringue. And the furniture. Plus the waiters!
GRAHAM: Love it!
DOCTOR: All set?

"Doubt you'll actually make it there." Mickey laughed, but that was the fun of the adventure really. You never really knew where you'd end up. Martha shook her head, but kept her focus on Ryan; noticing how quiet he was.

GRAHAM: Ready.
YASMIN: Yep.
RYAN: Nah. I think I'm going to stay here.

Yaz jolted in her seat, startled by Ryan's words and turning to face him beside her. Despite this being in the future, Ryan didn't seem surprised by what future him had just said; somehow it felt ... right.

"What, Ryan?" Yaz finally found her voice.

Ryan shook his head, not answering either Yaz's questions or Graham's concerned looks. Instead, he found his gaze drawn to Martha across the room who was smiling softly. Upon noticing his attention, she gave him a nod of acknowledgement and understanding.

It was Martha that answered in Ryan's place, having had more time to learn how to vocalise everything he was feeling; "Sometimes, it's just time."

DOCTOR: Yeah.
RYAN: Yeah. Me mates need me. And I know this sounds stupid, but... I feel like my planet needs me. You've got to fight for it, right? Look, Doctor, before... before I met you, I didn't know what I wanted to do with me life. And... and now... And now, I know.

"You understand right?" Ryan asked a bit nervously, eyes not quite meeting the Doctor's.

The Doctor offered a smile, bittersweet but proud of him, "I do. This life, it takes a toll on people and ... it makes you decide what is most important for you. Ryan?" She waited for him to finally meet her eyes, "Being able to stop, to know when it's time to leave; that's one of the bravest things you can do." The Doctor gave him a firm nod, before turning her gaze to Martha who met her eyes unwavering. An understanding passed between the two of them; neither had taken their separation well but it had been the best thing that could have possibly happened for them and their relationship. It had just taken them time to realise that.

DOCTOR: Ten months. I made it back too late. Missed my time with you.
RYAN: So, are we hugging, or...?
(Big hug.)

"Oh." Clara grinned at the Doctor, "Look at you. So much for no hugs."

DOCTOR: What about you two? Are you going to...?
YASMIN: Stay? Yeah, definitely.

Jack snorted, giving Yaz a pointed look that unnerved her slightly. She had a distinct feeling that Jack could see right through her.

DOCTOR: Yes!
YASMIN: I'm not ready to let you go yet. That's all right, isn't it?

River and Jack shared a fond look, shaking their heads at the pair who didn't notice.

RYAN: You've said it now, so... Of course it's all right. She needs you.
DOCTOR: Yes for Yaz!
RYAN: Hey. You're getting over me leaving quick enough.
DOCTOR: Two hearts. One happy, one sad.

"And she'll have a breakdown when you aren't around to witness it." River called the Doctor out, earning an annoyed glare from the Doctor who was unable to deny it.

RYAN: Make sure she don't get in any trouble.
YASMIN: It's going to be difficult. I'm holding you responsible for the planet while I'm away.

"Big responsibility." Ryan raised an eyebrow at Yaz.

Yaz smiled earnestly, "You've got this." No more words were needed; all was understood and accepted.

RYAN: Yeah. Deal.
DOCTOR: Graham?
RYAN: Look, it's all right, you know. I'm all grown up now, so...you can go with them.

"Don't even start." Graham shook his head, turning a stern smile on Ryan. "Like I'm going to let you go on your next adventure without me." Ryan's smile turned more sincere. He may have told Graham it was okay to go, but he couldn't deny the relief as Graham instantly made his choice.

GRAHAM: Yeah, well... Yeah, well, you know, there's lots to explore, so much more to see. You know... But, er... I don't want to miss out on you, you know, and being here without you ain't going to be the same. You know, I'll always be looking around, then, to say stuff to you, you know? You see, Ryan, you're my family. And I remember, Doc, what you said, you know, that we... we wouldn't come back the same people, and you're right. Just not in the way I thought. I'm ready. I wanna... I wanna be at home with my grandson. What?

"Good on you both." Jack nodded approvingly of the pair, sharing a long look with Martha. Learning how to leave was the hardest part of being with the Doctor, but it was something they all had to do one way or another eventually. Even Yaz would have to learn that sooner rather than later.

RYAN: I just thought I'd have the place to myself, you know.

"That plan's gone out the window." Bill grinned at Ryan. The group were all glad this separation was going well; it was bittersweet to watch but no one had died or ended up helplessly trapped somewhere else.

GRAHAM: Ha. No such luck. Yaz. I'm sure I'll see you soon, eh? Keep doing humanity proud.
YASMIN: I'm going to miss you.

"You better come visit." Graham pointed at Yaz with a stern smile.

"You couldn't get rid of me if you tried." Yaz laughed, almost watery as she fought the tears that were pooling at the corner of her eyes.

GRAHAM: Doc. Thank you so much. Right. Well, come on, son.
DOCTOR: Hey. (group hug) Bye, fam.
GRAHAM: Yeah. Right.
DOCTOR: Oh, wait. Take these. Might come in handy.
(Psychic papers.)

"Oi! I didn't get anything cool when I left!" Jack immediately protested, turning to the Doctor dramatically.

"You're immortal Jack!" The Doctor rolled her eyes.

Jack's grin only widened, "I still wouldn't have minded some psychic paper or something?" He turned his gaze on River, "What about you River, aren't you offended?"

River smirked at the protesting time traveller. "Don't know what you're talking about. I got a sonic." It may have been part of a scheme and all, but it was still a nice gesture.

"Am I the only one that didn't get anything?" Jack threw his hands up in the air.

"Yes." The Master drawled from his corner; arms crossed. It certainly served to take the wind out of Jack's sails, his mouth shutting audibly as he quickly turned his eyes back to the end of the video.

GRAHAM: Oh. Ta. Oh! And, Doc, I was wrong. We do get aliens in Sheffield.

"And a whole lot of other weird stuff." Graham added on.

(Ryan and Graham leave the Tardis.)
DOCTOR: I could always use the Tardis to go back, arrive an hour after you guys, change the timeline. Then we'd have more time together.

"Oh Doctor." Clara sighed, sadly. Recognising the signs of the Doctor floundering and being unable to express their emotions.

YASMIN: It's okay to be sad.

"She's going to need you Yaz." River nodded pointedly at Yaz whose expression turned serious, giving an answering nod. The Doctor always needed more support after someone left her; even if they left under good terms.

[Moors]

(Graham steadies Ryan on his bicycle.)
GRAHAM: Okay, three, two, one, go! Yes, go on, Ryan! You're doing it, son! Go on, son! Come on!
(Ryan looks back and falls off.)

"Come on!" Ryan complained, "Ten months and I still haven't learned how to ride a bike."

"Doubt it was your priority in those ten months." Graham attempted to console her mildly frustrated grandson.

GRAHAM: Oh, great. Ryan, you okay, son?
RYAN: Yeah.
GRAHAM: Yeah?
RYAN: Yeah.
GRAHAM: Well, look, definitely further.
RYAN: Yeah. Maybe.
GRAHAM: No, definitely.

"Good on you, Ryan." The Doctor grinned proudly, "You've got this."

RYAN: I was looking online earlier. Some weird stuff going on in a village in Finland. Troll invasion, so the locals are saying.
GRAHAM: Yeah, I saw that. And you know there's a quarry in Korea that's shut down because the workers are reporting they saw gravel creatures come to life.

"Couldn't stick to the quiet life for long." Rose nodded with a knowing smile.

"Welcome to the team." Mickey grinned at the pair. That was two more to the former-companions-now-fighting-evil-on-Earth.

RYAN: Psychic paper.
GRAHAM: Yeah. These'll get us in anywhere.
RYAN: Yeah, Finland, Korea.
GRAHAM: Well, then, what are we waiting for?

"Would never have thought you'd be the more eager of the two when this started." Yaz teased Graham who just shrugged with a fond grin. What could he say, the life had certainly grown on him.

RYAN: I'm not done here yet.
GRAHAM: Yeah, but, look... I mean, this... You'll be black and blue.
RYAN: I don't know if you heard about me, but I'm Ryan Sinclair. Me and me mates, we saw off everything from giant spiders to a conscious universe. We fought Cybermen, Skithra, Morax, the mighty Pting. It's going to take more than a bike to scare me off. Ain't that right, Grandad?

"Never give up Ryan." Amy smiled, "A bike is hardly the worst enemy you've faced. You can do it."

GRAHAM: Yeah. Right, then. Well, come on, then. Jump on, then. You all right?
RYAN: Yeah.
(The sun is level with the horizon, and they see Grace smiling in the beams.)

Ryan and Graham shared a bittersweet look. They'd grown a lot since their first time meeting the Doctor and losing Grace, mostly for the better.

GRAHAM: You all right?
RYAN: Yeah. Yeah, er, just got the sun in me eyes.
GRAHAM: Yeah, me too. Right, a few more tries and we'll go and save the world, eh?
RYAN: Yeah.
GRAHAM: Yeah, good. Here we go, get ready. Three, two, one, go! Go on, Ryan. Yeah! Go on, son! You're doing it, mate!

"Wooh!" A few people cheered and grinned as Ryan kept trying. A soft feeling in their chests as Ryan and Graham started the next chapter of their lives.

Martha sighed, smiling. "That was a nicer way to end things." After all the death and despair of the last video, and the mess and death in the start and middle of this video they needed that happier ending. Not to say it wasn't sad, but a happy kind of sad.

"Well," The Doctor spoke up with a little clap, "I think that's a good time for a break-."

Anything else she may have said was interrupted by a pop, and a small cloud of smoke near the ceiling.

"Erh, what's that?" Bill questioned, pointing up at the ceiling.

"What's what?" The Doctor asked confused, then followed Bill's gaze to see the slip of paper float determinedly down to land straight in her lap. "Ah. Good question."

Giving one last glance up at the ceiling suspicious, she turned back to the note in her lap; carefully unfolding it and reading it aloud for the group. "We have reached a new point. I will be taking several members of the group for a few hours so they can re-join the time stream without any memories of this occurring. When they have reached a certain point, they will return alongside someone new. While they are gone, enjoy the break. The Tardis."

Blinking she scanned the note again before looking around the room. "What does that even mean -." She was once again cut off, but this time she vanished completely. River jolted as the Doctor vanished from her seat, turning her gaze to Jack, she found him also missing.

Alongside the Doctor and Jack; Yaz, Ryan, Graham and the Master were also missing. The remaining members of the group glanced around startled by the sudden disappearances.

"Well, guess they're going to be gone for a while." River announced with a sigh and glance at the ceiling. There wasn't exactly anything they could do about whatever the Tardis had planned. With a last shrug, she got up and stretched and moved towards the kitchen. She needed a drink.

The rest of the group followed her lead; conversations started up as they all moved out of the viewing room and stretched their legs, glad for the break.

"Martha, wait up." Martha turned around at the sound of her name, halting her conversation with Mickey. Rose was waving at them as she scuttled the last few steps to catch up with them. "Can we talk?"

Martha glanced at Mickey quickly before shrugging, "Sure." She waved Mickey off as he wandered away at a bit of a loss of what to do now.

"So, what did you want to talk about?" Martha asked, curious and a bit tense. She was fully expecting a serious conversation, one she'd been expecting for a while.

Instead, Rose grinned wildly. "I was wondering if you wanted to help me prank Mickey?"

It startled a laugh out of Martha, that was certainly not what she'd been expecting. "Absolutely, what do you have in mind?"

If she had been Mickey, she would have been scared by the smirk Rose sent her.

"Hey Bill!" Clara popped up alongside Bill who startled at there suddenly being a person next to her.

Her hand went to her chest, "Sheesh, are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

"Sorry, sorry." Clara waved her off, "I just wanted to officially invite you to the dead not-dead companion club."

"You what?" Bill asked confused at Clara's words. "That's a bit of a long name."

Clara grinned, "It is, but we haven't been able to come up with anything better yet."

Bill nodded along, matching Clara's grin. "So whose in this club and what did I do to get in it?"

"You died but you didn't stay dead." Clara nodded, trying to break it as sensitively as she could – it wasn't that long ago they rewatched her death after all. "As for members; we have Jack, River, me and you so far."

"And what do you usually do?" Bill asked curious, it wasn't ever day she got invited to a new club.

Clara shrugged, "On the rare occasion we get to meet up we mostly share stories, get a drink that kind of thing."

"I could be into that." Bill nodded grinning.

The pair grinned at each other. If there was one thing these videos was doing it was reminding them that they were not alone.
