Chapter 9
Cody's POV:
I've moved into the warehouse and covered my scent so no one could find us. Kayla still hasn't waken up.
It's been three months. I've fed her a whole bag of blood each day and her wounds are all healed, but she hasn't woken up. I'm afraid that she wont.
I only have one bag left and I'm giving it to her today. Here goes nothing. I give it to her and she doesn't wake up.
I'm so thirsty. I haven't left Kayla's side so I haven't been able to drink anyone.
Kayla hasn't woken up in three months. I'm going to go to the hospital so I can feed. I'm feeling so weak.
Kayla's POV:
I've been walking through this dark tunnel for a long time, never seeing the end.
But today I see the end! It's right in front of me. I run to it instead of walking tiredly.
When I get to the end I step into the blinding light and my eyes open.
I look around me. I don't know where I am but I smell Cody's scent lingered on everything so he must have brought me here.
I sit up and smell blood. I look around and see a cup that's sitting on the coffee table in front of me. I pick it up and it's only half full.
I drink it greedily as my eyes go black and my fangs come out. Then when it's gone my fangs recede and so do my eyes.
I decide to wait on the couch until Cody comes back. I don't want to leave and then miss him.
Zach's POV:
I wake up. This must be hell. I'm still in my room at my house. This must be hell.
I look around and my whole packs there.
"Hey Zach. Your not dead."
Jared the youngest one says reading my thoughts.
"I have to be dead! Kayla bit me! Right?"
I look around at my pack and they look confused.
'You wanted Kayla to kill you?'
Alpha asks in his mind. And all the other wolves are talking. My mind swims.
'Yes.' I think back.
'She was telling the truth!'
I here one say through the jumble of voices.
'Alpha we don't have any record of a werewolf being bit when he was in human form do we?'
AJ asks. He's our third in command.
'No.' Alpha thinks.
'That could be it.' AJ thinks.
'Maybe.'
"Zach do you feel any different?" Alpha asks me.
"No. But I'm thirsty." I answer.
"Here." Jared hands me a glass of water.
I drink it and end up throwing the glass.
I scream. My throat burns more than anything I've ever felt in my life.
Everyone looks at each other.
"Zach can you still turn?" Jared asks.
I turn into my black shaggy wolf form and I can hear the sigh in everyone's mind. But I broke the bed I was laying on.
I turn back and someone brings me food.
I eat it but immediately throw it up. Everything I try to eat that they give me I immediately throw up.
I run to the bathroom with speed I didn't know I had when I feel my eyes start to sting.
I look in the mirror and they are completely black. I stumble backwards. Then little fangs come out between my lips.
Everyone gasp and back away.
Kayla's POV:
I hear the door to the place I'm in squeak open and I look in that direction.
"Cody?" I call but no answer.
I start to get up but something rushes over to me and the door shuts. A hand clamps over my mouth and an arm wraps around my waist.
I can't get out of the grip and I know that it's not Cody.
They drag me into the next room and shut the door. There's two of them now.
"What do you want!?" I yell.
"There will be none of that."
A female voice whispers.
"My eyes adjust to the darkness and I can see a male and female standing close to each other. Their eyes are completely black and their fangs are out.
"Please leave me alone."
I say terror making my voice shake.
"We can't do that. Cody has been a bad boy."
The male says.
"Wait who are you? Why do you want Cody?"
"You see. We are the head of this group. What are they called? Oh yeah. The vampires. And we ordered Cody to do something. You can guess that we're here because he didn't do it. My names Saryn and this is my mate Brandon."
The female says.
Cody's POV:
I go to my new home the warehouse after feeding. Poor lady only had two hours to live. I. Helped her out with that.
When I walk up to the door I can smell two very familiar scents.
Shit! This can't be happening! I run inside and Kayla's not on the couch.
I follow the two scents that I've come to hate into a room in the back of the warehouse.
I walk in and Kayla is tied up onto the bed. She's not that strong since she just got up.
I stand there like a statue staring at Kayla. She's awake! She's actually awake!
"Hello Cody. You've been a bad boy."
Saryn says. I growl at her.
"Let Kayla go." I say through clenched teeth.
"If I'm not mistaken you were suppose to kill her when she was still human."
Brandon says stepping out from the shadows.
I see Kayla freeze and stare at me. I feel like crawling in a hole and dying, but I cant. I can't die.
"Please let her go. I I know what I was suppose to do but I couldn't."
"Well we came here to kill someone and we plan to do just that. Either we kill you or we kill her. Your choice."
Kayla's POV:
".... Either we kill you or we kill her."
Saryn says pointing towards me.
Cody just stands there. I'm going to die today. I'm going to die.
"Kill me then but leave her alone."
He says. My heart stops beating. (If it still beated it would have)
I will my eyes to close and to not watch this, but I hear them jump on Cody.
I concentrate and turn into a lizard. I crawl out of the ropes that once tied me.
I turn back to my human form and catch my breath. I'm still not 100% better.
I rip some hair out of Brandon and Saryn I knee in the stomach.
They turn their attention to me and Cody attacks them.
Saryn is about to pounce on me but Brandon grabs her forearm.
"Don't. I like her. She's got spunk."
He says and winks at me. Then they leave just like that.
Cody looks at me and runs away mouthing, 'I'm sorry.'
I'm so mad, not at Cody but the way he ran away. Is he scared of me now?
I follow the scents of Brandon and Saryn to see where they go. I have to know what they do.
How are they the ones in charge? They're so mean I can't imagine them being elected into power.
I follow their horrible scents into a laundry mat. What the hell? A laundry mat. Seriously?
I walk to the back and go behind this curtain that their scent lead to. I'm overwhelmed by everything I see and smell. It makes me lightheaded.
There's vampires everywhere. It's a club behind this curtain for vampires apparently.
There's humans here too, but they're volunteering themselves to be drank out of. It makes me sick. There's also the smell of alcohol everywhere.
I walk in and as soon as I do Brandon greets me.
"Hey baby like the place? I made it myself. Wanna drink?"
He says and it disturbs me that he called me baby.
"No thanks."
I hiss at him.
"Well how about some blood? You've got to be hungry right? When's the last time you fed?"
"Well three months ago I guess."
"You see? Your throats probably burning."
He says and right on cue my throat does start burning. My eyes turn black and my fangs come out.
I don't hear what Brandon says next. I have an intense urge to feed my desire for blood. A human guy comes over and he has bite wounds all over his arms and legs.
How is he not turned? But I don't care as I sink my fangs into him.
Brandon pulls me away too soon.
"Not too much babe we don't want him to die out on us. But don't worry there's plenty more."
Brandon says. And calls over another guy.
Zach's POV:
It's never happened before in history. Ever. I'm the first one. Great. Just great.
Alpha says that I'm now half werewolf, half vampire. Don't ask how it's possible because I don't know, but I have a longing for human blood.
Even my pack mates smell delicious. I have to restrain myself from feeding from them.
Every time one comes near I have to growl so they back off.
"Alpha I'm done."
I say.
"Zach what?"
Jared asks disbelief in his voice.
"I'm out of the pack. I can't be in if I can't stop myself from feeding off of you guys. And I can't kill vampires when I am one."
Alpha looks at me for the longest time and I can see the blood in his throat moving. I think I start to drool.
"Ok Zach, but if you ever want to come back you can."
He says and they all walk out. I can hear that they're sad but once Alpha declares me out of the pack I can't hear them anymore.
At least there's peace and quiet. But as I sit there the quiet feels eery.
Maybe Kayla will want to be with me now. Maybe? I'm part vampire now right?
