Shah Zain's POV (Edited)
As I climbed down the stairs, I was greeted with silence. The lounge was empty that means everyone had already went to the dining area. I made my way towards the dining area and found everyone ready to dig into their meals. When dado saw me, she smiled at me and I greeted her
"Asalamualikum!"
They all replied back. I took my seat beside Zarnish not before ruffling Nimra's hairs. She groaned in annoyance causing me to laugh. We were in the middle of eating, when dado began
"As you all know that our company is reaching to new heights day by day."
We all nodded. Dado looked at me and I can't understand her stare at me. She again looked at everyone and stated
"Since Shah Zain has already joined the company, I want to make another announcement."
At that statement, my sole attention was on dado. She remained silent for a few moment before she began
"I want Shah Zain to take over the CEO's position."
All heads turned towards her. I can bet no one has expected that. It's a very abrupt announcement which no one was having any idea about. No one reacted for few moments before Yusra Chachi decided to break the silence
"But Ammi Sahiba, don't you think it's pretty early."
Mama looked ready to react but baba's hands stopped her. She turned to him but he didn't look at her. Dado smiled at Yusra Chachi and said
"It's not early, beta. Infact, I think it's far more than early. It's pretty late."
This time I decided to ask a question
"But dado, you didn't discuss that with me?"
Dado smiled again and said
"I don't think we need any discussion here. You joined the company to become CEO one day, don't you?"
I remained silent not knowing what to say. When I first decided to join the company, I have agreed with dado to handle the CEO position one day. But I never think that it would be this early. Dado began again
"I will go to the company today and will discuss the details in the meeting this afternoon. I want all of you to be present. We need to show our shareholders that Zain is worthy of this position."
Aaban chided in between
"Don't worry, dado. Mera Bhai lakhon main ek ha. Shareholders ko manana to hamare bayen hath ka khel ha."
(Don't worry, grandmother. My brother is one in millions. Convincing shareholders is a child play for him)
Dado laughed at his remark and stated looking directly at me
"Zain, you have to be present. You need to show them your potential as a CEO. Do you understand me?"
I nodded my head and assured her
"Don't worry. You will not be disappointed."
She smiled. Zarnish looked at me and passed a small smile. I reciprocated her smile and continued my breakfast...

"As you all know that Zain has joined the company to handle the CEO's position one day. I hope you all support him in all this."
Dado finished. We were currently in the middle of the meeting. The board members were present. When they heard about the announcement, they were a little shocked.
I'm sure they were also not expecting that. They maybe had thought that this would be a little too late. But dado had other plans obviously. One of the board members stated
"I do agree with you, Mrs. Mir. But don't you think it's a little too early."
Dado smiled. Her smile was saying that she was expecting some kind of question like that. She sighed and answered him maintaining her calm
"I knew you would all ask such a question."
The board member immediately justified himself
"I didn't say that I have any problem. I was saying it hypothetically."
Dado chuckled again and said
"As you all had seen that today's world is all about modern technology and youth. I want our company to have a young CEO. Today's young generations has more ideas and potential than us now. I am sure they will take our company to new levels."
She became quiet again. I looked at baba and he gave me a assuring look. The board members soon got busy in light conversation. They were probably thinking about the pro and cons of me being the CEO. After maybe 10 minutes, one of the board members stated
"We all discussed and now we have reached a point."
Dado nodded her head and motioned them to go ahead. He took a deep breath and said
"We all has always seen you taking good decisions for the company. No doubt, your decisions has always being beneficial for our company."
I smiled proudly. Dado did alot of hard work in gaining this position. Finally the board members announced their decision
"We will support your decision of having Zain as our CEO."
Dado smiled and said
"I expected something like that from you all. Thank you for your support."
They all nodded and soon the meeting room was empty. It was only me and dado now. I walked towards dado and sat down on the table facing her. I then asked her
"Are you going back home?"
She looked at me and nodded her head. So, I stood up and stated
"Come. I'll drop you home."
But she shook her head and also stood up. She then said
"I have another work. I will go back after I complete my work."
I nodded my but still I didn't want to leave her alone. Her health is not that stable right now and I don't want to take any risks. She probably noticed my frowned expressions because the other thing she did was to hold my hands and said
"I know what you're thinking, Zain. But I am ok. You don't have to worry about that."
I didn't say anything. I worry about her. I know her nature. She kept things to herself. She doesn't want to worry anyone so she suffer alone. I grabbed her hand in an assuring grip and cleared myself
"You know na that I am always here for you. You can share anything with me."
Dado smiled and kissed my forehead before pulling away. She sighed and patted my hands before muttering
"When I have such grandchildren than I don't need to worry about anything."
I laughed. I then checked the time and it was almost 2 in the noon. I turned it her and told her pointedly
"Dado, it's almost afternoon. You have to eat your lunch and then you have to take your medicine, ok?"
She nodded her head and stated
"You never forget, do you?"
I nodded my head and we both made our out of the meeting hall. She was about to go when I stopped her and informed her
"I might be late today. Zarnish said she wants to visit her friend and I have to pick her up from there. We will eat dinner out."
Dado nodded and said
"Ok, but take care."
I smiled at her and soon she disappeared from my vision...

Shiza's POV
Bisma was munching on her breakfast when I entered the dining area. Khala was nowhere to be found. I sat down on my seat and asked her
"Where's khala?"
She stopped munching on her food and stated
"She's out in the bazar today. We're out of groceries."
I nodded my head but then said
"She should have ask me to buy them or should have ask me to accompany her?"
Bisma smiled and stated while sipping her tea
"You know how she is. She loves to do her work alone."
I agreed with her. She finished her meal and stood up to leave. She kissed my cheeks before saying
"See you soon. I'm running late."
But suddenly, I remembered something and told her
"Wait, Bisma."
She halted in her steps and turned back. I walked towards her and handed her a stash of money. She looked at me with blank eyes and asked
"What is this, appi?"
I smiled and told her
"Your university fees. I know it's the last date today."
She down casted her eyes and shook her head. She politely declined and started pushing the money back in my direction
"I can't take it appi. I will pay the fees, don't worry."
But I shook my head. For your information, khala asked me not to pay Bisma's fees as she thought that it's not my responsibility. But I am very well aware of our expanses. Khala recently fell sick and the doctor's fees was very expensive.
Khala didn't tell me anything but I was not blind. I clearly saw that she was tight on money and right now, I should support them. I shook my head and tried to explain her
"Bisma, please take it. I know the situation. Please I will talk to khala myself."
She was still quiet. So, without seeing any other option, I said
"Please do it for me. Will you not listen to me?"
She finally gave in and took the money. She put it securely in her bag and said
"I am only doing this for you."
I laughed and hugged her. I patted her head and told her
"You can share anything with me. Don't ever hesitate in talking to me, ok?"
She nodded her head and then left. I took a deep breath and decided to finish my breakfast as I will get late to work. I sat down back on my chair and hurriedly finished my breakfast...

I was in the kitchen. I was preparing chicken corn soup for Asiya Aunty. The maid was on the leave today. I poured the soup in the bowl and took it to Asiya Aunty's room. She was sitting with her back rested on the headrest.
When she saw me, she smiled and motioned me to sit down beside her. I sat down beside her and placed the tray on the bed. She then thanked me
"Thank you so much, beta."
I smiled back and said
"You don't have to thank me."
She smiled and began eating. I stood up and started rummaging through her medicines. I took the prescribed pills for today and poured the water in the glass.
When she finished her soup, I gave her the medicines and after that she lay down. I was about to leave when she stopped me. I turned around and she said
"Can you please turn off the lights, beta?"
I nodded my head and turn off the lights before leaving. I placed the messy dishes in the sink before doing the other chores. Although, it's not my work but I still clean the kitchen in the absence of the maid.
It's good to help them sometimes. They work day to night and sometime a little help from us is all they needed. I was about to leave the kitchen when the security guard came inside and informed me
"There's a guest to see you, baji."
I was confused. I mean I don't know anyone here. I'm pretty sure it's not Bisma and Khala. They usually call me. I wondered who could that be? I told the security guard
"Ok, send them in."
He nodded and left shortly. I checked the lounge in order to see if anything was unclean but everything was on point. When I heard the footsteps I turned around but my breath hitched when I saw the least expected person standing infront of me. My eyes were wide and my heart was beating loud.
I didn't say anything for few minutes nor did the person infront of me tried to break the silence. I tried to speak but my throat seemed constricted and I was having a difficult time speaking. I gulped painfully and finally uttered the words breaking the cold awkward silence...
"Shehnaz Ammi."
