Now a little tidbit of L O R E (this technically isn't when they first met, they met a couple hours before this little bit down here, but uh I feel like this is more fitting for Phori in particular than them meeting in class. So. Take it)

The rest of the school day dragged by, like every other high school student would most likely say. But for me... well, more so. But every day's a drag for me. That's nothing new.
Finally the release bell rang. Other kids stood and left fairly quickly, chatting amongst themselves or getting out their phones as they left. I stood as well, stuffing my textbook in my backpack and walking out the door, flowing with the deluge of students.
I was on my way to the door, the last leg until freedom, when I was suddenly knocked to the side by a strong force. My breath was knocked from my chest as someone barreled into me, shoving me into some kind of closet and closing the door. I heard a click as it locked. It was too dark to see, and I could barely make out my own hands in front of me.
A strong, feathered hand closed over my mouth, preventing any speech from escaping. Dark amber eyes gleamed menacingly in the scarce light, a wide, malicious grin spread across his face.
"We meet again," he hissed with glee.
I barely knew him, but I'd recognize that voice anywhere. His hand muffled my voice as I said in disbelief, "Phori-?"
Phori chuckled. "Correct-o, my friend!"
Something cold and sharp was pressed against my neck now. A knife.
I managed to make out Phori's frown. "You... don't seem to be nervous about this blade at your neck?"
I glared at him through the dark, unable to speak. I was paralyzed, my feet glued to the ground and my hands frozen to the wall behind me. Ice had engulfed my spine, my lips, everything. Yet I didn't fear the small apparent murderer. I was frozen with pure shock.
He shrugged, more to himself than me. "Oh well. Time for death!"
Phori put pressure on the knife, gradual but getting harder. It cut off my airflow, and I coughed. The sound was muffled under Phori's hand feathers, orange caution signs in the bottom of my vision. Something warm and wet flowed down my neck from the open cut, I could barely breathe.
Phori laughed, and slipped the knife in a slitting motion away from my neck. I was having trouble breathing, and I placed my hand on the open slit to stop the bleeding.
However... I didn't feel it.
When Phori noticed my lack of... well, dying, his sadistic grin slowly transformed into an angered frown. "W-what? Why aren't you dead?"
He snapped the question in an aggressive manner.
I held my hand over the bleeding wound, the grey-green feathers becoming dark and bloodstained. I cleared my throat as I tried to speak. Blood dripped from my mouth as I coughed again. "Yeah... I guess you don't know that."
"Know what?" Phori growled.
"Greys... are immortal."
Phori's eyes widened with a mixture of shock and wonder. "Immortal? Like, you can't die and will never die?"
"Oh, I'll die," I shrugged, "I can just only die of old age. So no matter how many times you stab me, I'm still gonna be here."
Phori's head tilted, then he suddenly looked to the floor. "Oh crap now I'm gonna get caught-"
"Oh, no, I won't tell anyone," I reassured him, "This may have been attempted murder, but it wasn't murder. So we're cool."
"We're cool?"
"Yeah."
I pulled the hood of my sweatshirt up a bit, hiding the wound. It should heal in a few minutes. I wiped the blood from my mouth to make sure I didn't look like I'd been strangled with a knife. "I have to get home. So, uh... see you tomorrow?"
Phori crossed his arms, shrugging. His response was a nonchalant, "Yeah, sure. See you then."
I chuckled slightly before walking out of the room and closing the door behind me.

They met in high school, yes. In this bit, they're both Juniors/in 11th grade. In the information I gave in the last chapter (like how Phori tends to get drunk), they're both graduated (though I'm still deciding the ages) (Phori may have little regard for the law, seeing that he's a murderer, but I'm not putting underage drinking in my books T^T).
This is still kind of under construction so it may change, may not change. More likely not because I like this.
