There I stood alone in the pouring rain with my hand clutched tightly to my umbrella,
Where was Noro?
The rain drizzled against me as a passing car came by, and I stumbled back.
My eyes scanned everywhere for him and found a family with blue-purple hair, one had looked like a boy and girl. The same age of mine, they were in my class.
It was Touka and Ayato ... And their father.
"Kasumi"
I heard a shout from behind me,
Ah! It was Noro.
I came running towards him and my hand dropped the umbrella I had.
He gave me a warm embrace and I nuzzled against his neck.
"Where were you ..."
I pouted,
"Sorry there was a school meeting going on ..."
He nervously smiled at me,
His long red ponytail swung, but didn't hit me and he turned around for a piggyback,
"Come on, mum and dad are waiting"
He simply stated,
I jumped on his back with ease and mumbled,
"They wouldn't even notice we were here anyways ..."
He went back to pick up the umbrella I had dropped earlier and bolted to our house..
Along the way I saw a glimpse of blonde hair, which crept me out that I became cautious of my surroundings.
"I'm sure mum and dad are worried ..."
"Besides your birthday should be in a day"
I heard him chuckle and I played with his hair,
"Can I invite friends ?"
I asked curiously,
"Mm you should ask yourself that, I'm not the one hosting it"
I could feel him smirking and my eyes widened,
"I-Im hosting it !"
And he looked behind,
"Mm hmm"
I jolted up and I giggled, where should we go for my birthday??
"Come on time, hurry up so that my birthday is here !!"
I demanded jokingly,
I heard Noro's chuckling and he quickened his pace so that we were eventually at the house, there my father and mother were lying on the couch drunk.
For an 11yr old I knew the problems Noro and I were dealing with,
We were ghouls to be exact...
Even if we were ghouls we were able to have fun and freedom, it wasn't our choice to be one...
As long as I had Noro, I was still able to live as one.
"K-K...Kas... Kasum...I"
I heard my mum groan my name,
"K-Kasumi... Let's p-prac- *coughs* -tice... Today"
Practice ... She meant by practicing my powers as a ghoul.. My mum was obsessed with being known as a powerful ghoul family, but on occasions like this. She always relied on us.
"You're not sober yet"
Noro added,
"Shut up!"
She threw a glass bottle at Noro which he caught in his hands.
She lifted herself up and dragged me forcefully outside ...
"Hurry up!"
She demanded,
"Y-Yes mum"
I hissed at the pain she was giving me, her grasp on my arm tightened each second and she finally let go.
"How are your *coughs* illusions"
She stated,
I was able to control illusions inherited by my dad, although Noro didn't inherit them, he was able to see through my illusions.
"They're fine"
"Fine is not enough !"
She shouted,
"You need to keep this family going, have our name be remembered by everyone, I don't care what that bastard thinks of our family name being forgotten-"
'Bastard' , she means my dad.
She slapped me and I gulped.
The tingling sensation went across the area she had slapped and I touched it...
"O-Okay mum..."
I whimpered in pain,
"Our family name should be all over worldwide !! But that's not happening right now!"
She shouted and gave me a menacing glare,
"Now show me"
She beckoned me to show her my art of illusions,
... Art of illusions ... Okay I'll do that for you.
I nodded and grinned...
She wanted to be apart of my world, I'll let her.
My mind thought of her biggest fear she never conquered in her entire life.
No matter how much she would try to get out, the scene would keep replaying and replaying ... I smirked.
"Okay ..."
I mumbled,
If only you'd understand what I'm suffering through because of you...
Now she was in my world ...

"Kasumi"
She whispered,
I yawned, my eyes gazed at her form and she was trembling with fear.
I smirked, swearing that my eyes glinted into a world of madness and insanity ...
She couldn't see me at all because the illusion I had given her surrounded her.
"Kasumi!..!"
"K-Kasumi!"
She shouted,
I chuckled,
"Kasumi"

I chuckled again ... But paused only to realise the voice of hers wasn't hers but Noro's which made the illusion fade away.
"Noro"
I looked at him, and looked back at mum.
She was staring at me with anger and rage.
"I told you to stop! Why didn't you stop !!"
She came bolting towards me and her kagune lifted from within her back.
Her kagune bit into my side, and I screamed in agony.
I collapsed on the ground and I let out a blood curdling scream.
My blood spilled and I breathed heavily,
I had the same regeneration skills as Noro's and I knew that the wound she had embarked on me would heal straight away, but that didn't mean it was painful.
Noro came running to my aid and had a worried expression.
"Kasumi!"
My eyes rolled and my body fell limp,
Noro ....
"Clean that sh*t up, ugh..."
I heard her voice fade away with utter disgust and that's when my world had blackened ...

Ow... My torso was aching and I touched my sides ..!

... I groaned in pain and lifted my body up, I was in bed ... Noro must have put me here. It was morning already ...
He must be at school by now.
The windows were foggy and I glanced at it, I was too tired to get up, but I would always find myself glance back and forth at the foggy paned windows..

My eyes widened, what was that ?
I looked at the windows again and found a blurred reflection of a bulky person with blonde hair... My eyes squinted further to see the image clearer.
What was that ...?
And that's when I saw writing on the paned window.
"Y... A... M...O...R...I"
As soon as the writing stopped a hand came full force to the window and made a big hand mark,
My stomach churned and I gulped,
I came forward and peeked an eye open on the hand mark and found myself staring at someone else's eyes,
"Remember me"
And with that the person disappeared,
I stumbled back making me fall off of the bed, my heart was pounding with fear and my eyes widened..
Yamori ...
"Kasumi? "
I heard Noro's voice from the kitchen.
..!
I scurried on to my feet and felt pain run over my sides,
"Mmh!"
I yelped,
It was that loud that Noro teleported from the kitchen to the bed,
Noro helped me up with a worried expression and I lowered my head,
"Are you alright ..."
I nodded...
"Why aren't you at school..."
I said completely ignoring the fact I nearly hurt myself again.
"Why are you worrying about that now? Don't you remember it's your birthday"
He stated,
What ! I've been sleeping for at least 1 day, my eyes widened with shock and amazement,
I dragged him away for him to get dressed and I got dressed myself,
"Come on! I want to show you a special place !! Hurry Noro!"
The thought of the place made me excited !
I let my H/C haired hair roam freely and I wore a plain shirt with F/C shorts and a F/C scarf.
And there in the doorway in my room was Noro with a plain hoodie and jeans as well.
We headed outside and felt the breeze flow right past us,
"So where are we going ?"
"There's a stage performance behind our school that's going on !!"
"So can we go there? Pleaseee"
He placed both hands inside his pockets and looked up,
"It's not my birthday"
He looked at me with a grin and ran.
"You're it!"
He tapped on me and I pouted,
Well than ...!
I ran after him but he was too quick,
"Hehehe!!"
I giggled and ran up behind him,
"You're it !"
And tapped on him,
Never realising our game of tag lead us to the front of the school I collided into someone,
"Ouch..!"
The person said, or it was Ayato who said it. Probably does remember me.
"Hey ! Watch where you're going !"
The person said again and stood up to point at me,
I pointed at myself,
"Me? No you watch it, kid!"
I extended my index finger out to him.
The boy became teary-eyed,
And responded with a shout,
"Toukaa !!!"
And my eyes widened,
W-What??
With that he ran away.
I stood there like I had just completely lost my mind .... What . Just . Happened.
"Kasumi?"
I heard Noro say in the distance,
And went to him,
"Come on hurry up!"
My hands dragged him away to the stage performance and noticed that it already started.
It was an Alice in Wonderland's performance ...
We sat down on one of the chairs and watched with amazement.

I clapped and cheered, while Noro was just clapping.
After everyone had left and the crowd seized, I went backstage to meet the protagonist, Alice.
But on the way I met someone else, it was Mad Hatter.
And up close he looked way more better !
"Wow!"
I exclaimed out loud and covered my mouth.
"Sorry ... But I just wanted to say, you did great on the stage !!"
I exclaimed louder with more enthusiasm.
"Ahaha, we ever rarely get comments like that, but thank you, and Happy Birthday"
My eyes widened with surprise,
"Your brother told me, sorry I have no gift but you can have this"
He took off his hat and put it on me,
The hat was completely covering my entire head and I couldn't see a thing.
"Ahaha!! Don't worry kiddo, you'll grow into it"
He laughed,
"Well I'll see ya around"
And with that he left, I looked back to see him and noticed that the entire crew was gone, awe...
"Come on Y/N, we gotta hurry before mum and dad come home"
Noro said,
"Mm hmm..."
I took off the hat and admired it, I clutched onto it tightly in my hands and never let go.
There was no other place I could go since everything in my region of Japan, was quite expensive and we were still young to have a job or anything, while our parents didn't care about birthdays ...
So instead we went home.

As soon as we were home I saw a cake set out on the table, and my jaw dropped,
It was a coffee cake ! I giggled and looked at the cake in awe.
Noro and I finished the cake alone with delight and it was nearly bed time ...
"Yawns ..."
I yawned out loud and caught Noro's attention,
"Come on, let's go sleep ..."
Noro carried me to my bed and tucked me in.
He set my Hat down on my bedside and kissed me on the forehead, he whispered I love you, which I replied to the same thing..
...
I closed my eyes and I fell into a deep slumber...
"Goodnight Noro.."
1-3 hrs later ...
...
...Remember me ... Ka... Su... Mi.
"..!"
I woke up with a fright and felt a presence in my room ... I could feel my stomach churn and I stood up.
*Crack ... Crack...*

My neck was wrapped around by a hand and I couldn't breath...
"Do you remember me ... It's Yamori"
"Wha ... Do ... Y... Want!"
I tried to make out a sentence but couldn't.
"I just want your brother, he's got quite the special abilities as a ghoul ... Mm?"
And threw my body against the wall which made a cracking sound..
My door slammed open with Noro in the doorway,
"Kasumi !-..."
His eyes widened at me and looked back at 'Yamori'.
"Nor-!"
I felt something pierce right through my torso and I felt an agonising pain through my sides again ...
"Uhh....."
It was his kagune ....
"What do you want !!?"
I heard Noro and Yamori replied with a chuckle,
"You see I need you to join in something ... If you join than I have no further use of your sister"
And pierced his kagune into my other side..
"AGHH!!!"
I shouted with pain and breathed heavily,
"If I join, than your not to hurt her !!"
Noro shouted,
"Yep"
Yamori smirked and cracked his fingers in an odd way..
"O-Okay!"
Noro agreed without no hesitation ....
It's a trap, Noro was panicking... And he didn't have time to think.. Goddamn it..!
I crawled over to my bedside and grabbed my Hat...
I clutched to it tightly and I already knew what was happening ...
Noro was dragged away but than he teleported back to me till I saw a tall figure if Yamori over him.
"Teleportation mm? HAHAHAHA!"
And with that Noro was injected with some drug or something.
My torso stood up weakly to crawl over to Noro.. But was quickly distracted by a kick to my leg..
"Agh..!"
I screamed..
And with that.. My world blackened and the voices I heard were Noro's..
Yamori carried Noro far away, and said,
"I never said its not going to be me hurting her"
And set down a match stick ...
... I heard fire crackling and than I fell limp clutching tightly onto my hat...
