Se'Kani POV
Same day/Later that night
"Let me taste yo food".
"Nah bruh, you saw this shit on the menu and ain't want it".
"It looked nasty on the menu, it look good in person though".
She said reachin her fork on my plate.
I paid for everything today so she could just relax and we was now on the date that I been wantin for a minute.
"Don't eat all my shit".
I said slidin her my plate.
"Ouu, this good as hell, can we trade"?
"Hell nah, you act like a big ass kid. Gimme my food".
We was just talkin and laughin about random shit when my phone started ringin.
I declined not really payin attention to the contact puttin my attention back on Sincere.
"But yea"-
I was cut off by a text message that I ain't get to read followed by another call.
I looked down seein it was Shawn and declined it thinkin he just forgot where I was.
I powered my phone off goin back to the conversation.
When I looked up Sin had a weird look on her face holdin her stomach.
"You good, you ate too much"?
She shook her head lookin like she was ready to cry.
"Sumn don't feel right Se'Kani".
I scrunched my face in confusion when her phone started ringin.
She showed me her screen and I grabbed it seein it was Shawn again.
I answered it puttin it up to my ear.
"Nigga what? You betta have a good reason to be blowin us up on our date".
"Jay just got shot, it's bad".
My face fell and everything around me just stopped movin like time was frozen.
The phone fell out my hand as a felt a single tear roll down my face.
"Se'Kani. Se'Kani what's wrong"?
I heard Sincere's voice which sounded distorted as my ears was ringin.
"Se'Kani"!
I looked at her and it was like she knew what was said on the phone as she closed her eyes tryna stop the tears from fallin.
"Se'Kani, tell me somethin right now".
I picked up her phone but the call was already ended.
"Jay".
Was all I said before she broke down cryin.
Lucky I rented this place so nobody was around to see this.
I got up to try and hold her but she pushed me back.
"Stop! You did this"!
"You got him hurt! You put him in this position"!
"Sin, I'm so-. I'm sorry".
"I told you to keep them away from that shit but you don't fuckin listen"!
I couldn't even deny anything she said cus she wanted me to keep my distance before we even got into it.
I shouldn't have even let them do the shit in the first place and now he might die because of me.
Rese POV
"Tyrese baby, let me talk to you real quick".
Ms. Lee said comin into the quest room.
"Ma'am"?
She sat on the bed wit a sad look on her face and tears in her eyes makin me hop up wit a concerned look.
"I just got off the phone wit yo sister, Jay been shot three times and is in critical condition. They don't know if he'll make it".
It felt like my heart fell out of my chest hearin that shit.
"You wanna go see him or you need a minute"?
I just nodded silently as I got up to put my shoes on.
She left out to get Ren and Mari ready before we headed out to her car.

"Rese"!
Sin called as soon as we stepped in the waitin room.
She pulled me into a hug before huggin Ms.Lee and kissin the kids.
"Hey babies".
"Ma ma, is uncle Jay okay"?
"Honestly, I don't know baby. I hope so".
"Are you okay Sin"?
Mari asked makin her start cryin again but tried to keep a smile.
"No, I'm not".
Mari and Ren wrapped they small arms around her neck makin her cry more.
I looked back seein Shawn and Se'Kani.
They both look like they been cryin just as much as Sin.
I made my way over to him and he gave my a sorry expression.
"You know who did it"?
He just shook his head in disappointment.
"You know we can't blame you right? We old enough to make our own decisions and we chose to stay close so we can't blame you".
He nodded pullin me into a short hug before I dapped up Shawn.
I saw Lia walk out the bathroom and she looked like she been cryin for hours.
"Lia, you good"?
"No. I had just told him he should've stayed away from that before he left the house".
"I was on the phone wit him when it happened".
"You seen anything or body"?
"No. I just heard some dude say something about Ten before he shot him".
She went silent before grabbin my hand.
"I need him Rese, he gon make it right"?
" I can't promise you nothin, we can just hope and pray he will".
Se'Kani POV
I woke up to Mari movin around in her sleep damn near fallin out my arms.
I checked my phone seein it was it was goin on 3 a.m.
I looked over seein everybody sleep except Sin who was pacin back and forth.
"Family of Jayden Greene".
A doctor yelled wakin everybody up and we damn near ran to him.
"Where he at, is he ok"?
Sin asked not givin him a chance to speak.
"Well, I have good news and bad news".
"Good news, he's alive. Bad news, he barely made it and he's currently in a coma".
"You know when he wakin up"?
"Could be weeks, months, even years".
I felt Sin burnin a hole in my face but she had every right to be pissed.
"Can we see him"?
I asked makin him nod.
"No, he's not family and I don't want him in there".
"You can't tell me I can't go see my brother".
I said low key muggin her.
"Who is the legal guardian"?
"I am".
She said causin him to give me a sad look.
"Unfortunately since she's the guardian and he is a minor, she can decide whether you see him or not".
"Sin, come on man".
"No you come on. You the reason he even in here".
"He got a whole baby on the way and now he might not be able to meet em because of yo selfish ass".
I just decided to leave it alone and headed out handin Mari to Shawn.
I heard footsteps behind me before I heard my momma voice.
"Se'Kani come here for a minute".
I just kept walkin cus I ain't wanna deal wit this nomo.
"Boy don't make me repeat myself".
She said roughly causin me to stop as I felt tears on my face.
"Now look, I know she blamin you and you blamin yoself but this ain't nobody fault except the coward who shot em".
"Momma you and I both know this my fault".
"I'm the reason he on his death bed right now, I did this shit to him".
"I just killed Jay and now she fuckin hate me, we can't come back from this".
I broke down and she pulled me into a hug rubbin my back.
"It's ok. Let it out baby, let it".
"She hate me bruh".
"No she don't baby, she just hurt right now and speakin out of anger".
"You just gotta give her some time then y'all can sit down and talk".
We fell silent as everything was goin through my mind at once.
"What if he don't make it? She ain't gon forgive me for that".
"Momma I need her in my life, I really do".
"I ain't felt this way about nobody in a minute".
"Like I said, give her some time then sit her down to talk".
"Now go home and get some rest, imma take these kids home to lay comfortably in bed".
She pulled my head down kissin my forehead and I kissed hers.
"I love you momma. Can you tell them I love them too"?
"Yes i can, and I love you too suga. Be safe now baby".
I have her one last hug before we separated and went our separate ways.
