You felt your eyes open. Your body lay flat on the silky black sheets of Cole Brookstone's bed in the Monastery. The room was dark but the only light shining was from the moonlight outside that just barely covered the carpets of the room.
Your boyfriend's snores were surprisingly soft, soft than they normally are. It wasn't a strange sight, Cole snores almost every night but when he snores softly like today that's how you know he's asleep and it'll take multiple truck horns to wake him up.
Your eyes stayed locked with the ceilings for a couple of moments before they turned your head to the side to Cole's back. His body slowly rose up and down, back and forth.
It took everything in your power to not trace your fingers up and down his back.
Not wanting to risk waking him up.
Slowly and carefully, you pulled your legs over from the bed and onto the floor. The small creak caused you to cringe but you stood up quickly before running out of the room.
The floors were freezing but eh, you did what you had to do to get out of the bedroom quick without making a sound.
You didn't really sleep.
Ever since the Oni attack, you've been afraid for her friend's safety. Every day they risk their lives. Running into danger they have almost little knowledge about. Sure, there are Ninjas, but there are still people who can get hurt...well...maybe there are not all people...but they could still get hurt in different ways.
The Sons of Garmadon was already bad enough, now that the Oni attack happened who knows what's going to happen next?
You already lost Cole once...you are not losing him again.
A small flashback faded into your mind.
The sound of Cole calling your name as you slipped off the ladder rope and him grabbing your hand. He threw them back aboard where Zane aided them up, but Cole's rope snapped and....
You rubbed your eyes as you tried to think of the now and not the past.
You can't change the past, but you can change the future.
You turned into the kitchen where the small stove light was the only source of light you had, but that was enough. Opening the high cupboard, you took out a small glass and turned on the sink faucet.
When the water was cold you began to fill up the glass. It was quiet and calm, causing you to let out a yawn.
Turning off the faucet you turned back around but you instantly bumped into someone, causing you to shriek a hand covered your mouth as they grabbed the cup before they could drop it.
"Y/N?..."
You knew that voice...dammit
"Cole?" You responded, noticing the fluffy black hair on your forehead gave it all away. Cole placed the cup of water on the table right beside the both of you and brought you into a hug, his hands rubbing your back as you dug your face into his shoulder
"Babe, it's almost 4 in the morning..what are you doing?"
Cole's morning voice was grouchy and deep, nothing like his normal voice. You found it kinda...cute? It was hard to explain why, you just did.
"I was just getting a glass of water and coming right back to bed-"
"Were you?" Cole interrupts causing you to lean back a little and raised an eyebrow, "Pardon?"
"Y/N, I'm not stupid. I know when you're not in bed with me all night. You've acted like this since the Oni attack. What's wrong?"
Why does he sound more intimidating when he's tired?!
A small sigh escaped your lips as you engulfed Cole into another hug, which he pulled himself into, his breath tickling your neck as your nails scratched his back.
"I've just--been having a hard falling asleep recently, that's all."
"Why? Babe, this will go on all night unless you give me a straight answer."
You huffed in annoyance and gently pulled away from Cole's grip, who was caught off guard by your sudden action. He still had his arms out as you spoke,
"Fine. You want a straight answer. I'm scared! I'm scared for your safety! I'm scared for Lloyds's, Kai's, Jay's, Zane's, PIXAL'S, and Master Wu's safety! Every day you all go out and fight dangerous villains who could murder you! You could leave one day and that may be the last day I see you any of you!"
By now tears started to fall down your cheeks slowly,
"I care for you all so much, but seeing you fight all these villains makes me so nervous! Cole, you do realize you could have died falling off the Bounty! Do you know how scared I was when I saw your body fall into that stupid cloud!?"
"Babe-"
You paced back and forth around the kitchen but didn't hear Cole call out for you.
"I thought...I lost you. Forever. My heart shattered into a million pieces. And it doesn't matter if you made it out alive, I thought you died! I wouldn't know what to do with myself knowing you died even though I could've done something!-"
"Y/N!" Cole grabbed your shoulders as he forced you to face him, the tears staining your cheeks as he hugged you. Holding you close,
"I'm sorry."
You slowly wrap your arms around Cole's neck, your tears staining his t-shirt.
The both of you stood in the kitchen in silence, both unsure what t say.
After a couple of moments, you felt Cole's breath near your ear,
"Let's head to bed now. Your exhausted and you need sleep."
He felt you nod your head on his shoulder and with ease he lifts you up, causing you to wrap your legs around his torso as he carried you towards the couch.
He sat himself down with you still on his lap. He leaned into the cushions of the couch while you had your head buried in his shoulder. The tears in your eyes and cheeks dried as you felt his nails scratch your back gently, stroking it up and down.
"I will never leave you, Y/N. You know that? Even if the world is ending, I will be by your side throughout it all. You will never leave me without a final goodbye....but you don't have to worry about that because that will never happen.'
You took Cole's words to heart, and a small smile formed on your lips as you snuggled deeper into Cole's chest. Snuggling your face in the crook of his neck causing him to chuckle a little.
"You look so cute when you're tired..." cole mummers softly and you giggled, "I look tired? Have you seen yourself, Brookstone? You look like you had a fight with 10 kindergarteners and lost"
You poked his chest multiple times before sighing slowly, enjoying the presence of your boyfriend.
he snickers, "Shut up,' and pulls a small blanket over both your bodies, and you both melted into the warmth. You felt his breath on your neck as you closed your eyes, unable to keep them open.
Cuddling Cole was like cuddling a large teddy bear, he was so warm and when his arms are wrapped around your body it's almost impossible to escape.
Cole followed your footsteps and closed his eyes a few minutes after you, when he knew you were fast asleep he had no trouble sleeping after.
Before he did though, he planted a kiss on the top if your head on your hair, whispering a small
'I love you'.

The next morning came, Kai and Zane entered the living room first not seeing both you and Cole but when Kai heard an all too familiar snore come from the couch he peeked his head out from behind it and grinned softly.
Zane pulled the hot-head away from the couple by the ear with his pink apron on and Kai whisper shouts,
'Ow,owowowow, okay! I'll help! Let my hair go!'
The both of you didn't wake up until the others were awake, but Jay tried to fight the urge to not push you both off the couch because he wanted to watch TV.
You both woke up a few minutes after Zane was finished making breakfast and when Cole found out Jay had a bunch of photos of him and you fast asleep on the couch, the Lighting Ninja got his exercise for the day while the others teases you.
Zane was a gentleman and just smiled at you when he saw your flustered face.
