Three Months Later
Shah Zain's POV (Edited)
Ahh!! I can't believe so much time has passed. It's been three months since I last seen Shiza or heard anything about her. I had closed that chapter of the life for good. I don't need any of her fragments to remember. Her betrayal to my family had already left bitter memories in my mind. I want to start afresh. So, alot changed in this past three months. I finally decided to join the company. Yeah!! Shocker!

I know. Dado was really surprised by my sudden decision but nonetheless she was happy. Everyone in the house was amazed and puzzled. Everybody was happy but Lubna and Yusra Chachi are exception. Both were only passing fake smiles in order to join in the family celebration. I am not the CEO as I had already cleared to dado that I still need time to think about it.

She was partially sad but agreed as she thought that she shouldn't pressurize me. Everything is going so far so good. I was handling my position well and baba is happy with me. I had started to focus more on work other than roaming around. Even Hashir didn't believe me and he only believed when he accompanied me to the office itself. I was freshly showered and changed into my today's attire.

I was clad in a dark blue pants with white shirt. My electric blue coat was hanging. I combed my hairs back and wore a watch. I sprayed perfume and lastly wore my coat. Taking my phone, wallet and car keys I descended downstairs. Everyone was already present at the table and I took a seat beside Zarnish. She passed me a sweet smile which I gave her back with equal gratitude. Baba looked at me and asked while sipping his tea

"So, are you going to negotiate with the Malik's yet?"

I nodded my head and answered

"Yes, baba. I'm sure after they'll hear our ideas, they'll change their decision about not investing in our project."

Baba looked quiet pleased. The Malik's are very important investor. We really needed them to invest in our new project. They are very successful and almost every company wants them as their partners. A very fake voice spoiled my peace

"You look too confident, beta. Yad rakhna guroor ka sar hamesha neeche hota ha."

(You look too confident, son. Always remember over confidence always bad)

You guessed it right. It's Lubna Chachi speaking. This woman will never let peace develop. She always has to do something which will result in an argument. Zarnish eyed her mother and whispered

"Mom, stop it."

But Chachi looked least bothered. She just rolled her eyes and I decided to calmly reply

"Chachi, I'm not over confident. There's a thing called self trust. That's what I have in me."

Dado lightly smiled in my direction and gave me a slight nod. Junaid Chachu looked kind of bothered and stated

"Beta, Lubna ka maqsad Tumhen taunt karna nhi tha. Wo to bas bare hone ki hasiyat se advice krrhi thi."

(Lubna's intention was not to taunt you. She was just stating a fact)

I nodded my head and continued my breakfast. I don't want to indulge in any unnecessary family drama. I stood up after eating and mama asked me

"Are you already going, beta?"

I nodded my head and bent down to kiss her forehead. She smiled and blew verses on me before saying

"May Allah always be by your side."

I smiled and made my way to the exit. I was about to open the door to my car when Zarnish came to my side and asked in her sweet voice

"Can you drop me to my work too, Zain?"

I was getting late but it's the first time Zarnish asked me anything and I don't want to refuse her. I nodded my head and said while opening the door

"Sure, hop on."

She smiled and made her way to the other side of the car. We buckled up our seat belts and soon I drove away from the Haveli...
****

I reached the office in atleast 1 hour. The company is a little far away from the Haveli. But it doesn't matter since I'm fan of driving therapy. It cleared up my mind. As I passed the key to the valet standing there, I made my way inside. The receptionists and the other few employees greeted me and they received a quick nod in reply.

I entered the elevator and pressed down the designated floor number. My shoes made a ticking sound as I was tapping them on the floor. The lift binged open and I walked out. My P.A, Ms. Naila spotted me and immediately made her way towards me. She greeted me usually and we both went towoards my COO's cabin. I made myself comfortable on the chair and Ms. Naila stood infront of me narrating the whole schedule for today

"The Malik's are coming today on lunch for a meeting. They want to review further things. After that they'll make a decision."

This seems to gain my attention. I am not free for lunch. I have other work. I sighed and stated

"Ask Salar or Aaban to go there instead of me. I have another important work."

The P.A looked unsure as I never refused anything work related but my other work is important. My presence is needed somewhere else. She nodded anyways and left my cabin. I leaned back on my chair and closed my eyes for a moment. But my peace was broken when my not so mannerful cousin decided to barged inside my cabin without any care of the world

"What the hell, bro? I'm not going to that boring meeting at all."

Salar slumped down on the chair and released a deep breath. He was glaring at me so I finally decided to speak

"Look I'd go if I don't have another important work. Please work for one day."

He rolled his eyes and asked

"What's important work do you have?"

I sighed. Well, I can't say. It's a secret. I tried to think of excuses but Salar's calculative gaze was making it difficult. So I jumped into my bossy elder cousin avatar and ordered strictly

"You will go that meeting by hook or crook, you understand me, Salar?"

He didn't say anything but stood up. He inhaled and finally agreed

"Yeah as you wish."

He left my cabin and I released a breath. Well that was close.
I resumed my working and didn't realize that when the afternoon appeared. It was almost 2 when I checked my phone. I immediately stood up and wore my coat which I recently discarded at the sofa. I left my cabin and descended downstairs.

The valet gave me my car keys and I rushed to the nearby hospital. As I reached the hospital, I immediately went towards the examine room. I entered inside and the doctor has just completed his check up. Dado was sitting on the bed and she smiled at me. I passed her a reassuring smile. The doctor looked at me with confused eyes and asked me

"May I ask who are you?"

Before I could answer, dado interjected in between vanishing his query

"He's my eldest grandson, doctor. Don't worry he's here to support me."

The doctor's mouth made an o shape and he nodded his head in approval. I asked the doctor, a little anxious

"How is she doctor? Is there any problem?"

The doctor sighed and answered truth fully

"Everything is so far so good. But it all matters when she will properly follow her diet plan and will not do any mistake. It's mandatory for her to take her medicines on time and with every hour someone has to check her blood pressure. It will be good if she'll has a care taker that can look after her everytime."

I gulped down the whole information. The doctor is clearly stating that we need a full time care taker for dado. I turned to dado and she held the same knowing expression like me. I turned to doctor and assured him

"Don't worry, doc. I'll make sure she will never skip her medicines."

The doctor nodded affirmative and prescribed some medicines

"Make sure she eat these medicines after her dinner every day on time."

I took the prescribing paper from his hand and gave supported dado to stand. She stood up and we both exited the hospital. Dado decided to sit on the bench for sometime. She inhaled the fresh air and exhaled. I was sitting beside her quietly. Various thoughts clouded my mind. I have to find someone who can willingly take care of dado all the time. But it will be difficult as trustworthy people are very rare in today's world.

There are less people who are really there to take care of someone. I have seen that example by myself. I can't take anymore risks. Dado cleared her throat and this seemed to get my attention. She stated

"I know what you're thinking, Zain."

I can't hide my emotions from dado. She can read me like an open book. She can see the insides of me. She placed a gentle hand on my arm and tried to assure me

"Beta, itna pareshan na hu. Mae apna khayal khud rakh sakti hu."

(Don't worry too much, son. I can take care of myself)

She tried to smile in the end. But even a million comforting words can't comfort me right now. I shook my head and clarified myself

"I know dado, you can take care of yourself. But still a care taker is important. I can't be there all the time. Someone has to take care of your needs."

She didn't say anything so I stated

"Let's go, we'll be late."

She nodded and we both stood up to leave the premises. I sat down in the car while dado sat in the passenger seat. I started my drive to the Haveli....
*****

I reached home at around 8:00pm. Everyone was already set at the table. When they spotted me, mama stood up and I greeted her

"Asalamualikum mama."

She smiled and replied back

"Waalikum asalam, beta. Go get fresh and come downstairs."

I nodded my head and went upstairs towards my room. I grabbed my comfortable clothes and head straight to the shower. The warm shower soothed my aching muscles and it gives me calming effect.

After getting freshly showered, I was about to exit the room when the sudden knock on the door stopped me. I opened the door and was greeted by Zarnish. She was dressed in a dark pink short kurti with purple shalwar. She looked too simple to be judged.

Zarnish'a Dress

She passed me a smile and stated with a cheeky smile on her face

"So Mr. Handsome is freshly showered."

I laughed and answered while winking at the end

"Well, I had take care of my looks. You know there are so many girls who are dreaming to gain my attention."

She went beetroot red causing me to burst into laughter. She fake glared at me and then stated

"You should stay in your limits, Mr."

I aired my hands in surrender. We both made our way downstairs and soon settled down. The maid served us dinner and thankfully the dinner went smoothly and peacefully. Right now I was standing in the backyard enjoying the cool breeze.

I heard footsteps approaching behind and I turned back to find Zarnish. She was wrapped in a shawl and holding two cups of coffee. She offered me one and I took it from her hands before thanking her. I sipped from the hot coffee and it warmed my insides. I sighed and stated still looking infront

"You shouldn't stay here long. You'll catch cold."

I heard her witty reply in return

"I should say the same for you."

I laughed a little and replied

"No offense taken."

She laughed and then we both went silent for some moment. It seems like none of us wanted to break the cool and soothing atmosphere that surrounded us. It was purely natural. But someone has to break the silence and finally Zarnish asked me

"How did the check up went?"

At this question, I turned towards her. Her face was contorted in worry for dado. Of course, everyone in the house is worried about her health. She is the Queen of our Haveli. Without her, we're nothing. I sighed and decided to answer truthfully without sugarcoating anything

"The doctor has prescribed some more medicines and has also suggested that we should hire a full time care taker for dado."

At my confession, Zarnish seemed quiet. She must be thinking about a way out. Of course, why wouldn't she? After a while, she began

"Uh...I think we should look for the care taker."

I decided to answer

"Yeah but it will be difficult to trust anyone after what happened last time."

Zarnish's groaned internally and said with a distaste in her voice

"I didn't want to see my dado hurt again. She had done enough."

I chose to remain silent. Finally after like 5 minutes, Zarnish stated

"I will take care of dado. I have been meaning to leave my job for taking care of dado."

At her answer, I turned fully towards her and asked her

"Are you serious? I mean...don't you have any problem?"

She shook her head and stated confidently

"Why would I? She is our dado and it's our responsibility to take care of her. I will be more than glad to be the one to take care of her. Don't worry, she is safe hands."

I laughed and thanked her

"Thank you so much, Zari. You made me the happiest man alive today."

A red hue appeared on her cheeks and she just nodded her head before heading inside leaving me utterly amused...
