mirror

i open my eyes

and face the sights

i tried my best to dream away

last night.

the moon leaves the sky

and leaves me wanting,

while the mirrors

tired face

shows me all that is haunting.

it shows me a girl

who is so insecure

that she won't ever realize

that she deserves more.

in the dark, she goes on

without the heart of another because

she thinks she is not

enough for the mouth of a lover.

she'll spend all-day

with her arms over her stomach,

and when someone notices,

her blood begins to plummet.

her heart will try to quit and

and her head will start to hurt

and she'll try not to cry as she

hears.

those.

words.

the poor girl is what

they'll say.

poor, stupid girl,

and she'll always feel that way.

so she'll go home

and hide under her sheets,

and try her best to

swallow that hurt with those

poor, stupid dreams.

and she'll wake up the next day

with a heaving, bleeding soul,

and she'll search her reflection

but she'll no better know.

the mirror shows me a cycle

of utter exhaustion.

an actual girl,

i see only so often.

(first rhyming poem i've done in a looooong time so the rhythm is really off lol~ any suggestions on how to make this one better?)
