Shah Zain's POV (Edited)
I was have just reached Hashir's house. He's been MIA since many days and I have enough of his cat and mouse game. I knocked hard on the door and waited for him to open. After about 5 minutes, I heard footsteps approaching towards the door and finally my best friend's face came into my view. He looked tired.

His eyes were dull and it looked like he was in the middle of a heavy sleep. I smiled cheekily at him. He rolled his eyes and opened his door wide enough for me to enter. I settled myself on the comfortable looking couch and he plopped down beside me. He turned to me and asked in a taunting voice

"Will you tell me why did you grace me with your presence at this ungodly time?"

He passed me a sickengly sweet smile in the end. I sighed heavily and instead asked him a question

"You tell? Where were you since many days?"

Hashir chuckled and again mocked me

"Well, there's this thing called work which I do...unlike you."

He will never waste a chance in taunting me. I rolled my eyes and clarified myself

"I'm good as I am. I don't want to handle such a big responsibility."

He clicked his tongue and turned fully to me. He looked more awake now. He rubbed his palm over his face and stated, his voice held desperation

"Look, I know it's a very huge responsibility. But you should also know that it's your right. You'll have to take over the business after your father. May Allah grant him long live but no one knows what's next, Zain. Try to understand."

He can't also be lecturing me. I motioned from my hand to stop and stated ending the whole conversation

"Look I'm not in the mood right so please refrain from talking."

Hashir blew out a deep breath and juts shook his head. He leaned back on the sofa and asked. This time rather curiously

"What happened that to you decided to come here at this time? Is everything alright at home?"

I assured him

"Yeah everyone is fine except dado."

He went on an alert mood and urgently asked

"Is your dado ok? Is she sick?"

I shook my head and tried to calm him down

"Dado is fit, physically. But mentally she is not."

He looked puzzled and shoot away the next question

"What do you mean?"

I sighed. I don't want to remember that day again. But I have to tell him. I turned to him and started narrating the whole story
"Well, it all started that day when...."

Shiza's POV

I reached to the Jeweler's shop in maximum 30 minutes. The road was pretty much empty as it was already 11 in the night. I know you must be thinking that I shouldn't have come alone at this time of night but situation made me do it. The jeweler is here is about to close but when he saw me entering inside, he stopped. He eyed me probably thinking what emergency I had to come here this late at night. I didn't say anything and took out my earrings. I presented the earrings to him and he eyed them curiously. He looked up and then asked me

"Are you sure you want to sell them?"

I don't know what does he mean by that? Does he not want me to sell them? But why would he not want me to sell them? I'm practically profiting him. When I didn't answer he shook his head and said

"Look, this gold is very expensive now. You should rethink your decision."

I wish I could. But sadly I can't. The situation I'm in isn't allowing me to think selfishly of me. I shook my head and came up with a lie

"These are very heavy to wear. Also this gold is expensive and I'm scared of having them lost. Please just tell me the price of it."

The jeweler looked at me like I had grown two heads. Of course, why wouldn't he? My excuse is the worst excuse ever. Anyone can tell that I'm lying. But what can I say? I don't want to brag to people about my problems. The shopkeeper weighted the earrings and finally answered me

"Since it's expensive and looked unused than it'll be 20,000."

Well I can work with that. Bisma's fees can be paid and I can also pay the rent of this month too. By the next month, I will find a job inshallah. The jeweler took the earrings and handed me the money. I took the money and put it secured in my purse. I recited "Ayatul Kursi" before exiting the shop. I tightly held my dupatta and started my walk. The street was almost empty. Only few shopkeepers were there but they were also closing their shops.

The street started to darken and a small tint of fear developed inside my chest. But I kept my face neutral and fastened my steps. I need to reach home as soon as possible. I didn't even tell anyone at home. If anyone woke up, they would be worried sick. Ya Allah!! Please help me. Suddenly, I heard footsteps from behind me. I didn't dare look behind but I sped up. The footsteps also increased causing me to ran.

The person behind me started chasing me. My heart was hammering inside my chest and my legs felt shaky. The person was still following me. I tried not to panic but the fear inside me had blocked all my senses. I tripped onto the stone infront of me and lost my footing. I stumbled and tried to stable myself but my foot twisted causing me to shriek out in pain and I fell down on the cold hard ground. I groaned feeling the pain on my foot.

But immediately the sense of fear enveloped me when I realized that the person who was following me knelt down infront of me. I could feel his breath and it didn't feel good. He reeked of alcohol and all the bad food. I closed my eyes tightly and started praying to God to send someone to help me. Ya Allah! Please help me!!!

Shah Zain's POV

Hashir was shocked after hearing the whole incident. He was silent since maybe approx 2 minutes and hadn't even said anything. I snapped my fingers at him and this brought him out of his trance. He blinked at me and cleared his throat. He looked speechless. Well, he has every right to be. He knew Shiza since she was working for dado. She's been working for nearly 3 years and no one had ever thought that she would do something like that. Hashir looked at me and said

"Look, I know you're gonna argue but don't you think that it's very strange that Shiza did something like that? I mean she's been working here since years actually."

My eyebrows furrowed at his statement. How can he think like that? That woman is a cheater. She is the reason why my dado is suffering like that. I shook my head and said looking away from him

"I'll think you didn't just say that."

Hashir shook his head and clicked his tongue. He tried to explain me

"Look Zain I know it's hard to believe. I also know that you don't like that girl too much. But just think, why would she do something like that now? Why didn't she ever try to steal something before?"

His question had a sense but my mind is ignoring every rational thing right now so I stated

"Look what she did can't be neglected. She stole and she got what she deserved. I hope you'll understand that too."

With that said, I stood up to leave. Hashir also stood up when seeing me making my way to the door. Hashir's voice stopped me

"Where are you going?"

I sighed and replied looking back

"I'm going home. Mama will worry then."

He nodded his head and I exited the house. I sat in my car and started my car. I don't understand why everyone is taking side of Shiza. She clearly did wrong but no one was seeing that. They all are just defending her actions. I was frustrated by all of this. I couldn't seem to understand that what spell she has cast on my precious dado and best friend. No one is listening to me. I tried to focus back on my drive when I saw someone running on the street.

A drunkard was following the person. Since it was dark, I couldn't decipher if the person was male or female. I shrugged and continued my drive. But then I heard the thud sound and this made me put brakes to the car. I looked back and saw that the person fell on the ground and the drunkard was leaning on him. That's my cue to go there. I stepped out of my car and made my way to the drunkard's direction.

As I kept taking steps, I noticed that it was a girl. My temper rose. The drunkard was trying to reach out to the girl while she was crawling back in fear. She looked helpless and vulnerable. I grabbed the drunkard from the back and slammed him hard on the wall behind.

He groaned in pain and from my peripheral vision I saw that girl crawling back in fear. She had her shawl wrapped tightly around her. The drunkard somehow balanced himself and tried to punch me but I dodged it easily and punched him in the nose. I heard a bone crack but I could care less. He stumbled and fell on the ground. I knelt down Infront of him and warned him

"Stay the hell away from that girl, you understand me. Otherwise I won't waste any second in handing you the police."

He nodded violently and left. I sighed and cracked my knuckles. I then turned to the girl and she was already staring at me. That's when I got my biggest shock of life. That girl was none other than Shiza. She was looking at me with tears rolling down her eyes. Her eyes held fear and pain. It made me somewhat uncomfortable and I internally shouted at myself.

Why fate is hell bent on me meeting with her? But I didn't regret even an ounce for helping her. I can't leave her like that if I had any problems with her. She looked down and fidgeted with her fingers. I exhaled a deep breath and knelt down infront of her. She stiffened at my closeness but I didn't let it affect me and asked her

"What were you doing here in the middle of the night?"

She looked up at me and her eyes were telling a million stories but she masked it completely and stated, her voice shivering

"I...I..had some work."

At this hour! What type of work could she had at this hour? Well, I don't care. I then stated

"C'mon, I'll take you home."

As much as I hate her, but I can't leave her alone at this time. Not after what she had experienced. But she shook her head and said

"It's ok. My house is not far away. I'll manage myself."

My jaw ticked at her comment but before I could say anything, she stood up. But her balance stumble and I provided my arm for support. She held it for dear life and try to balance herself. I looked down and noticed that her ankle was twisted. She closed her eyes in...pain maybe. I supported her and walked towards my car. I opened the door and she sat inside. I walked towards my side and started the drive.

She was quite and looking outside of the window. She didn't even say anything the whole ride. I stopped the car at a medical store and stepped down. She watched my every action but didn't say anything. I brought the pain relieving spray and came back.

I continued my drive but noticed that she was being curious about what I bought. But I kept my mouth shut. When we reached her home, I killed the engine. She was about to step down but I forwarded the bag infront of her. She looked at me in confusion so I clarified

"It contain pain relieving spray. Apply it before it got worse."

She nodded her head and stated

"You didn't need to do that. But thanks anyways."

She stepped down and limped towards her house. I kept watching her until she went inside. I then turned towards the front and took a deep breath. Today was one hell of a day. I never thought that I would be a savior to a girl who I loathed so much. I don't know what else is left for me to witness....
