─ Jude and his father had an exceptional relationship- they never had much money, but Arthur always put his all into raising Jude, with the death of his beloved wife, Olivia, Jude was all he had left. ─ Jude and Ben's relationship was nothing short of perfect; it was a cliche love story involving highschool sweethearts. Jude and Ben met at robotics club their sophomore year; and almost immediately became best friends and unstoppable partners, they literally spent almost every moment together. They went to the same college and planned their wedding for the year following their graduation.
And of course, like their relationship- their wedding was nearly picture perfect. And despite a few negligible arguments here and there about what color to paint their walls or what to name their cat, they had no issues.
six months into their marriage everything fell apart. On a night like any other, Jude and Ben closed up at work and headed home, had dinner, brushed their teeth together, and went to bed. Jude woke up to cold hands, thinking nothing of it until he turned to face his husband.
Ben had died in his sleep at 27, with no prior signs of illness. The autopsy confirmed it was an undetected heart ailment. Left behind with Ben's sudden and unexplained death, Jude's life was in shambles, he did everything but face the grief of his world being turned upside down. All he could do was blame himself and submerge himself in his work, if only he had been awake, maybe he'd have caught the moment his husband stopped breathing, and everything would be different.
