Today was my first day as an intern at Emory Hospital and I was really nervous. It was currently 6 am and I had to be there for 7:30.
I took my bonnet off and untwist my hair before wetting it and brushing it.
"It's bout time to take this lace off" I said eyeing my lace
I just finished taking a shower and now was about to brush my teeth and wash my face.
I wet my tooth brush then put toothpaste on before wetting it again.
I stepped back and eyed my figure in the mirror trying to keep the negative thoughts in the back of my head.
I sighed " I hate it " I said to myself
It was like I could never be perfect in my eyes no matter how much times I workout or stop eating .
Once I was done brushing my teeth I quickly did my skin care routine before going into the room to get ready.
I put my under clothes on then grabbed the black scrubs and laid them onto the bed. I grabbed my lotion and oils before sitting on the bed to moisturize my body.
I put my scrubs on then grabbed my deodorant and sprayed some under both arms .
I quickly grabbed my socks and put them on before slipping my feet into my Triple black vapor max flyknit 3 .
I grabbed my purse, phone, stethoscope & keys then sprayed some miss dior on before leaving the room.
I walked out the door and locked it before making my way towards the elevator.

Pulling up into the hospital parking garage I started to feel a little nervous. This was when I start to overthink on everything.
I slowly breathe in and out as I found a parking spot. Once I did, I did a quick prayer before grabbing my things and getting out the car.
I walked towards the elevator and pressed main lobby.
" Alright Lani you got this" I said sighing
The doors open to the elevator and the words 'main lobby' was on the wall.
I got out the elevator and walked towards the front desk.
"Hi Good morning can you point me towards the chief office please" I smiled
"Good morning sweetheart you can go up the stairs and make left or you can take those elevators and press 2." The middle aged lady said
"Thank You"
"Your welcome, First day ?" She asked with a smile
" Is it that obvious ?" I asked with a chuckle
She laughed " No I just never seen your face around here that's all... I'm Rose secretary for the front desk"
"Nice to meet you ms rose I'm Lani the new Intern for RN"
"Nice to meet you Lani I hope you have a wonderful first day"
"Thank you" I smiled before going towards the other elevators
Once I got in I pressed two and waited for the doors to close.
The elevator went up one and the doors opened " I really could've just walked" I said laughing
I made a left and followed the sign that said chief office.
I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.
"Come in" I heard causing me to open the door
"Good morning I'm Kay'Lani Taylor the new intern" I smiled walking in and closing the door behind me
" Good morning Ms. Taylor your actually on time, I'm Dr. Bailey also known as chief Bailey."

"Nice to meet you" I shook her hand
"I've heard alot about you Ms. Taylor...Number 1 in her class even a possibility of graduating early...very impressive Ms. Taylor"
"Thank you"
Dr. Bailey clapped her hands "Alright your gonna be late for rounds so come on, here's your ID your gonna need that to get around this place"
I grabbed my ID and put it around my neck before opening the door and walking out.
" your scrubs are suppose to be matching the other interns" She said locking her office door
I made a face "Matching ?"
"Yup for the first week but you can get an acceptance for today" she said as we walked towards the elevator
" This place is really big but after the first couple weeks you should know your way around"
I paid attention to the floor she pressed and made a mental note of which floor everything was on.
We got off the elevator and walked towards a room filled with lockers.
"This is your locker room we're you keep all your stuff over there tells you where you'll be and who you'll be with so make sure you look at that everyday" she pointed
"Choose any locker that's free and I wish for you to have a good first day" She finished
"Thank you Chief"
I walked into the locker room and found a locker. Feeling people staring at me I looked over to a group of girls giving me looks.
I looked them up and down before putting my stuff in my locker then I locked it.
"It's giving childish high school girls" I thought to myself
"My bad" I said bumping into someone
"You good girl" he said with a smile
"Your new ?"He asked putting his stuff in the locker next to mines
"Yea"
"I'm Zoie" he said closing his locker

" I'm Lani" I said walking over to the bored to see who I was with today
"Your with me & we with fine ass Dr. Woods" Zoie said dancing
I laughed "bye"
"Girl that man so fine"
" What's their problem" I asked nodding towards the girls from earlier
" GIRL them miserable ass bitches been here from before I came and haven't made it pass intern yet"
I shook my head " Crazy"
"Mhm but come on we gotta go before we're late."
We walked out the locker room and towards the main desk on this level.
"Hi can we get the file for Dr. Ross please" Zoie asked the lady
She looked at our IDs before passing us the file.
Zoie passed me the file to look at before we walked into the examination room.
"Your new so you'll go first" he whispered
I nodded "Good morning I'm nurse Taylor, this is nurse Jackson"
"Good Morning" She smiled
"I was told you wasn't feeling good today" I said putting gloves on
"Yes I was throwing up all last night and this morning I just felt dizzy and lightheaded"
I nodded indicating I was listening " okay I'm gonna check your vitals"
"90/60 Can you breathe in and out for me please" I said putting my stethoscope in my ear

"Okay your done the doctor will be with you shortly"
"Okay thank you"
I removed my gloves and walked out the door with Zoie behind me.
"Okay you might know a little something" he said causing me to laugh
"Y'all the ones with me today?" We heard a deep voice say causing us to look up
"Yes this is our new RN intern Ms Taylor" Zoie said
"Mmhm Whats the prediction on our patient" he said with his head in the file
"She's been nauseous, dizzy, and lightheaded Vitals are fine, heart rate is fine" I started
" I said prediction not symptoms" he said finally looking up
I scrunched my face " Could possibly be the flu or dehydration" I said causing him to finally look at me
He licked his lips before smiling "thank you nurse Taylor" he said before walking away
"Rude" I said rolling my eyes
"He can be rude to me any day" Zoie said
"Bye" Lani said laughing

"I'm hungry as hell" Zoie said as we walked into the cafeteria
It was currently 1 O'clock and we were on our lunch break.
Zoie grabbed some chips and a sandwich before paying and coming to sit down.
"Girl your not eating ?" He asked as I sat in front of him on my phone
"Nah I'm okay" I said texting Geo back
My phone started to ring causing me to answer.
"Yes Geo" I sighed
"You on lunch ?" He asked like I didn't just tell him i was through text messages
I smacked my lips "I just told you yes Geo"
"Girl fix that attitude and come outside"
"I don't know if I can leave" I said
"Girl this your lunch break, I'm sick and I need a nurse" He said laughing
I rolled my eyes "Alright where you at ?"
"The front of the hospital" he said before hanging up
"Rude"
I sighed before getting up and gathering my stuff.
"Imma see you after lunch Zo" I said
"Ouuu boyfriend alert ?"
I chuckled "not even...he's just a friend"
"Mmhm see you later" he said as I walked away
I got into the elevator and pressed lobby.
It moved down before coming to a stop letting the doors open.
I walked out and made my way to the front of the hospital.
Seeing Geo's all black Honda accord sport parked into the parking lot, I quickly walked over to the passenger side.
Before I was able to touch the door he opened it from inside allowing me to get in.
"Thanks" I said closing the door
He smiled "wassup Nurse Taylor"
I rolled my eyes before smiling "Boy what you want ?"
"Damn I can't come check up on you"
I shook my head a relaxed into the seat.
"Hmm I got this for you, cause I know you ain't eat nothing" He said handing me a Medium size smoothie from smoothie king
"What is it ?" I asked
"It's a power meal...blueberry raspberry, Try it it's good" he said
"How you know" I said taking a sip
"Because I had one before" he said shrugging
A/n I've never had this flavor before from them so I don't know if it's good or bad 😭
I drunk some more before sitting it in the cup holder "it is good" I said nodding
"How your first day going ?"
"It's actually good so far, I think I'm gonna I like it here" I smiled
"Okay Annie" he said causing me to laugh
"How's your day going?" I asked him before taking another sip of my smoothie
"It's okay, so far I had two clients and I just got back from chilling with king" he said getting on his phone
"Unt uh don't do that" I said
"What ?" He asked chuckling
"Get on your phone while we're having a conversation...that's disrespectful" I said
"My bad Kay'lani"
There was a comfortable silence as we sat and watch the people walk in and out of the hospital.
"So how are you doing for real ?" He asked
"I'm okay"
"You sure ?" He said looking at me causing me to grow nervous
"Yes Geo, thanks for asking" I smiled
