el's pov:
i stand up and practically run over to max with a smile on my face "hi.." i wisper. "hi.." max whispers back with a smile on her face. "do you guys wanna play d&d with us?" lucas offers as he walks back over to the table. max looks at them, and then back to me and then politely declines. "no thanks, we're good." max says softly. "yeah we're fine." i say as i glance at max's lips remembering what they feel like against mine. "uh i brought some comics, do you wanna read them like before?" max suggests as she takes out a few comics from her bag. "yeah, that sounds good." i say as i take my eyes off her lips.
"i also brought the 2nd part of the comic we were reading the other day." max tells me as we sit down on mikes sofa. i nod but stay silent. "you okay el?" max asks me as she looks down at me. "did i get you in trouble?" i nervously ask her. max sighed and then speaks. "there was screaming, crying, but there was also hugging." max tells me with a small smile. "so she's not mad at you?" i ask max still feeling nervous and guilty. "well kinda, she is disappointed which sucks, but at least she's not kicking me out like my step dad would have." max says. "i really don't like your stepdad." i tell her. "yeah, me neither. i'm glad he's gone now." max says.
"are you guys sure you don't wanna play?" lucas offers again. "we're fine. we're gonna read." i tell him. he sighs and then goes back to playing the game. "i'm gonna read the 2nd part first, okay?" max tells me. "thankgod because it left on a cliff hanger." i say as i scoot as close to max as i can. a slight smile appears on her face and she looked slightly shocked as i slightly leaned my head on her shoulder. "uhm okay so i can just read it outloud this time?" max asks. i nod while smiling and then she begins to read the comic.

"AND THE DEMIGORGAN BITES YOUR ARM AHH YOU SCREAM IN PAIN." mike screams. "SHUT UP!" max screams at him. mike whips his head around and glares at her. "you shut up max! i don't even know why your here! nobody invited you!" mike tells her. "actually el and will did." max tells mike. he rolls his eyes again and turns back the game. "god he's so boring!" max complains as she sets the comic down. "yeah, boring!" i say with a smirk and trying not to laugh. "so what do you all wanna do because it's boring watching you guys play d&d for hours on end." max tells them. "uh why don't we go to the mall?" lucas suggests. "yeah that sounds fun!" i tell them.
"whatever." mike groans. "alright, can we play d&d later then?" will asks while standing up. "yeah sure." dustin says while also standing up. we all walk upstairs, and outside and max, dustin, lucas, and mike all grab their bikes as me and will stand there awkwardly because we got driven to mikes house. "el why don't you ride on the back of my bike?" mike suggests. "erm-" i stutter before max cuts me off. "it's okay, el you can get on the back of my bike." she suggests. i smile and nod as i walk over to her bike, and sit behind her. mike scoffs, and then will spoke. "mike can i bike with you?" will awkwardly asks.
"uh yeah sure man." mike says as will slightly smiles and gets on. i place my hands around max's waist and immediately get butterflies and my heart started to beat a million miles an hour. "u-uh you ready?" max asks in a nervous tone. "yeah i'm ready." i told her. i slightly smiled and held back laughter at the thought that she was really nervous because my hands were in her waist. for whatever reason it just made her 1000x cuter when she was flustered.
we all biked down the road, and towards the mall, and mike, dustin, and lucas we're all racing, will was screaming his head off telling mike to slow down, vs me and max were going at normal pase just giggling at them.

"so where do you guys wanna go first?" dustin asked as he loked up his bike. "el do you wanna go shopping?" max suggested. "yeah sure!" i said with a smile. "okay, let's go!" max said as she grabbed my hand and ran into the mall, leaving all four boys behind. "so where too first?" max asked. i spun around in a circle, looking at everything in the mall, and then i felt max grab my hand again and start rubbing, so i followed her.
"this is my favourite store! the gap!" she tells me as we run inside and look around. "wow, these clothes are really cool." i say as i admire a black jumpsuit with all kinds of different shapes. suddenly i hear max starting to giggle, so i turn around to face her and give her a confused look. "what's so funny?" i asked her. "you're still wearing my hoodie.." she told me with slight redness to her cheeks. i look down and slightly blush too. "somehow i keep forgetting that." i tell her while also slightly giggling.
"you sure you just don't wanna.. y'know.. wear my sweater?" she asked with a smirk. this time it was my turn to get flustered, and i stuttered as i spoke. "u-uh no.. i just- it's comfy.." i stutter as i look away from her. "okayy.." she says as she picks up a white shirt with a rainbow in it. "hey this is cool." she says as she takes it off the hanger. "we should try on some clothes!" i suggest. "yess! that is a great idea!" max says as she grabs awhole bunch of different clothes. "woah calm down, i only brought 20 dollars, you can't get the whole store." i tell her while slightly giggling. "buttt- i can try them on." she tells me before she goes into one of the changing rooms.
i smile to myself, and then go into the changing room beside hers. i try on the black jumpsuit, and then after a yellow shirt, with black baggy pants with an X in the middle of the shirt. suddenly i hear the curtain of max's changing room slide open, and her voice. "el are you done changing?" she asks. "yep." i reply as i also slide open the curtain. my jaw slightly drops as i can't help but look her up and down, and admire her outfit.
"sooo, do you like it?" max asks. "y-yeah you look goo- no.. you look really beautiful.." i say as my heart starts beating faster. "i can say the same about you." max says as she stares at my outfit.
"FINALLY WHERE WERE YOU GUYS?" mike yells as he runs up to us. "WEVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE!" lucas adds. "WE THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!" dustin blurts out. max rolls her eyes and turns around to face all 4 boys, and then lucas jaw drops the way mine did. "what do you guys want?" max asks in an annoyed tone. "you guys disappeared so we went to come find you." will says. "we're fine? we just wanted to go shopping instead of hanging out with you guys." i tell them. "uhm okay- so can we go get something to eat? i'm starving." dustin complains. i glance at max to see the annoyed expression on her face, but she groans then agrees. "fine whatever let me and el just pay for this stuff." max says as she walks back into the change rooms.
i do the same, and quickly change back into my normal clothes. "can we PLEASE leave yet!? i don't want people seeing me here!" mike asks in an inpatient tone. "yes! just let me and el pay! you don't have to be so inpatient all the time." max replys. i can hear mike scoff and mutter something as me and max walk to the front counter. "okay, is that all for you today?" the cashier asks. "yeah that's it." max tells her as she pulls a 20 dollar bill out of her wallet. "hey wait no let me pay!" i tell her as i also take a 20 dollar bill out of my pocket. "i can pay." max says. "no let me pay!" i tell her. "JUST SHUT UP AND ONE OF YOU PAY!" mike yells. max groans and sets the 20 dollar bill onto the counter and grabs my hand along with our new clothes, and drags me away before i could place my 20 dollar bill on the counter.
"we're gonna get ice cream, you guys wanna come?" lucas suggests. "el can come but max can't." mike mutters underneath his breath. "can we go to scoops ahoy? steve has started working there." dustin suggests. "steve? STEVE THE HAIR HARRINGTON?" will asks loudly. "yes and don't call him that! there's more to him then just his hair." dustin says. "what? like the sunglasses he wears 24/7?" max asks in a sarcastic tone. "guys shut up! he's really nice now, he's like a brother i've never had." dustin tells everyone as we walk into a scoops ahoy.
we walk up to the counter, and stand there for a second, before mike starts viciously ringing the bell on the counter. the back door swings open and walks out is a tall guy with brown hair in a sailors costume, holding a matching sailors hat, and behind him was a tall blonde girl with an identical sailors costume, and she was wearing the hat. "i'm telling you it's this damn hat." steve says to the girl with her head burried in a book. "hey my name is robin, what can i get you- holy shit! max?" robin asks as the takes her head out of the note book she was about to write our orders in. "HENDERSON!" steve yells as a grin spreads across his face. HES BACK!" steve yells as he practically jumps over the counter to hug dustin, which caused a few people to stare.
"YOU GOT THE JOB!" dustin yells back. "HEY I GOT THE JOB!" steve yells again as he makes trumpet noises with his hands. "max how are you?" robin asks trying to speak louder then the boys. "uh i'm great. thanks again." max says with a smile. "hey any time you need a friend i'm here." robin says as she places a hand on max's shoulder. "thanks." max replys with a soft smile. once robin placed her hand on max's shoulder, i immediately became jealous. who was this girl? is this girl seriously trying to replace me? will max just ditch me eventually after everything that happened last night between us?
"uhm red we should order our ice creams." i say while interrupting the girl max was talking to. robin face turns to a soft smile, to a shocked look. "red!?" robin asks in a surprised voice. "uh yeah robin, this is.. el." max says, smiling at the part of my name. "oh shit, you're el?" robin asks as she looks from me, to max. "yeah.." max softly says as she crosses her arms and slightly blushes. "so everything's okay now?" robin asked again. before max could answer i spoke. "yes, can we PLEASE order now!?" i ask robin. "uhm yeah sorry about that— what would you guys like to eat?" she asks in a little of a taken aback tone. "two vanillas please." max says. "okay, it'll be ready in just a second." robin says as she grabs a ice cream scooper and two cones.
