Walking through the block I kept my head down, as people still didn't seem to know how to act since Lee was gone. For some reason it seemed like they took this to be a free for all, and try and spark something, but little did they know even though Lee is gone he ain't really gone.
Once I made it towards the familiar building I spotted Bando sitting outside with some of the guys, a small smile on his face when he'd seen me. "Yooooo it's Mrs. Drilly!" He said standing up and giving me a hug
I chuckled, "What's up Bando"
"Same ol' same ol' I should be askin how you been? I know niggah's been on ya body recently " He said raising an eyebrow
I shrugged, "Y'know just like I do even though Drilly's gon he's still very much around" I said
Bando nodded his head, "I heard dude in y'all buildin' got packed up last night" He said blowing out smoke
I nodded my head, "The walls have eyes" I laughed
Bando shook his head, laughing with me. After Lee had gotten arrested back in April things have been a lot more different than I expected, the everyday life that I had gotten used to and the small things that occurred everyday suddenly stopped happening and everything in my daily life had become different to a whole different degree.
I stopped hanging out with a lotta people that I used to be with damn near almost everyday, I spent most of my time at the jail or waiting for Lee to call. If I wasn't in the apartment, then I was here chillin with Bando or at my moms.
The ironic part was that even though Lee was locked up, he was still very aware of what was happening around the block and stuff. 95% of the time I didn't even mention the shit that happened on the block or anything that happened to me during the day because I just wanted to hear my man talk, but somehow Lee always found out and the problem was fixed the next day.
"You talk to Lee today already?" He asked breaking me from my thoughts
I looked over to him and shook my head, "Nah I think they got them in the hall right now, he'll probably hit me up afterwards" I said
He nodded, "You know you ain't gotta hol' all your sadness to yourself, we gang" He said sitting back
I smiled, "Thanks Bando, I appreciate it"
"No problem shorty, just don't cry with snot comin' out ya shit cause then I can't help you" He said smoking his blunt
I stared at him for a moment before I burst out laughing, "Bro what the fuck"
He shrugged, "I'm serious all I can do is give ya a napkin and tell you keep it pushin"
I stayed with Bando for a little while longer before eventually heading back to the apartment, and sighing once I walked inside. I laid on the couch, and the moment I closed my eyes my phone rang.
Sitting up I struggled to find the stupid thing, before struggling once again to answer the call. "Hello?" I said waiting
"This is a collect call from Bronx County Jail for Ali Doby, say yes if you would like to accept"
"Yes"
After a little bit of silence I heard Lee's voice, "Babygirl!" He yelled
I smiled, "Lee"
He chuckled, "How's my girl doin'?"
I shrugged, and fixed myself in the corner of the couch, "Same as yesterday, just missin' you more today than anything" I said
Lee let out a sigh, "I miss you too Babygirl, but just remember imma be home soon and when I come back its just gon be me and you" He said
I smiled at the thought of Lee coming home, I couldn't wait for the day. "How was your day so far? You get the money I put on the books for you?" I asked
"It's been alright Niggah's in here know not to test my gangsta, but I'm good. And yes I did get the money thank you for that"
I chuckled, "You ain't gettin' into no fights in there right?Bein' nice Mr. Doby" I joked
Lee smacked his lips, "Man why you gotta use the gov"
I laughed, "You didn't answer my question, you not fightin' in there right?"
"No ma'am I ain't fightin' in here, I'm tryna get back home as soon as possible. Not trying to do nothin to mess that up" He said
"Good boy"
"Ayo" He said chuckling
I sighed, "I miss you Lee"
"I know Babygirl but you gotta hol' it down till I get outta here, and then I promise its gon be a different world"
I nodded, "You need anything else?" I asked
"Nah I still have a lot from the last time you sent stuff, actually you know what I do need?" He said
I raised an eyebrow, "I thought you just said you didn't need anything" I said
Lee smacked his lips again, "Do you wanna know or not?"
I chuckled, "Alright, alright tell what you need"
Lee cleared his throat, "I need you to put a photo in the next one of you in the dress you wore for your birthday last year" He said
I shook my head, because I could just picture the smile on his face. "Niggah are you crazy?" I asked laughing
"Why not? You got thousands I know cause I took'em" He said
"Yeah and we never made it past an hour and twenty minutes outside before coming back inside Lee"
Lee sighed, "Just one it don't even gotta be that dress then" He bargained
I laughed, "Lee you must really wanna see Niggah's fight in that place" I told him
He chuckled, "Aye that's on them if they touch it g-shit"
I rolled my eyes, "I can't with you"
"So you gon send one"
I sighed, "I'll see what I can do"
Lee laughed a little, "Aye if not that one then one of the ATL trip photos is great too cause y'know-"
Lee stopped talking and I looked down at my phone still seeing the Caller ID as 'Leebaby 🤍', so I know that the call hadn't ended. "Lee?" I asked
"My bad babygirl, but I gotta go these Niggah's trippin in this place" He said
I nodded, "Alright"
"Aye don't be like that, imma be home soon I promise"
"I know Lee"
"I love you, you know that right?"He asked
"I love you too Lee" I said a smile making its way onto my face
"Aight, imma call you later My Heart and don't worry bout them weird Niggah's I got you" He said
I chuckled, "Of course you do Lee"
When I looked at my phone I saw the call had ended and I sighed tossing my phone on the other side of the couch, throwing my head back. I can't wait for my man to be back this being here alone shit is for the birds.
