First of all, how did the name zip was given to zip/zipper?
Z I P.....
They gave the letter Z because the zip/zipper looks like, many 'z' like thing stalked upon each other.
Then next letter is 'I', When you see a zipper, it looks like 'Y' whrn it it open and when it is closed it looks like 'I'. Choosing between Y and I, I wins because a word must contain a vowel. And there we get ZI.
Next is 'P': I'll come straight to the point. If want to pee, you have to open the zipper of your pants, which is essential. And there comes P.
Hence the naming ceremony of the zip/zipper was done.
