let's start with the classics:
Oni's take the place of humans in this society. Along with this, brings a lot of different environments. Jobs are changed to things suited more towards Oni's, but don't worry, humans can work too! As long as they're supervised and their owners say so. Humans can't do big jobs, but they are allowed to work in some stocking roles or helping around offices. Other humans can be used as therapy humans in the workplace, trained to look after their onis like what you'd call a 'housewife'. Humans are used for many things, though a lot of it can be considered illegal. The legal use to keep a human is as a pet/companion, partner, small labour tasks... Though the illegal groups are pretty massive in this world.The Oni Protection of Humans Association. (TOPoHA). This is one of the biggest ranking businesses in the entire world. Although humans are small and weak, they are treated with such high regard that any threat to them must be eliminated. Human fighting rings, criminal organisation labour, bait, food, hunting; these are some of the examples of the oni these guys hunt down.Another threat is the Human Rebellion. Some humans think they don't need an oni to protect them, that it's stupid and that they are undermined. Any human that thinks too strongly about this need to be homed and re-educated. A lot of strays are picked up this way as well, saved from the streets. It's an oni's job to teach the little humans their place in life. Unfortunately, TOPoHA has not yet found the human base, and the numbers continue to rise. They must put their best agents on the case. Occasionally, they will knock on doors to try and find any humans trying to imitate oni. It's a lot more common than you think, especially in low-income areas. It is illegal for a human to own/pay rent on their own, and if you're found leasing to one alone, then you can be jailed. The human will be put through their special rehabilitation process. The door is always open to any lost humans! It is recommended to get your human chipped.
Outside the organisation.
For the humans that believe they can make it on their own, life is tough. Finding a job, paying rent, just surviving is not ideal. Passing off as an oni is not easy, either.It is rare for a human to be bigger than an oni, though it does happen. Some humans make horns they can attach to their head, and they will actively learn the confidence an oni carries around. It can be hard for the untrained eye if an oni is a human, so if you have any doubts, please contact your local TOPoHA as soon as possible. In densely populated areas, you normally see a human on a small leash. Their collars spare no expense, and their leashes are sturdy and durable. Oni will also carry their human, as it is easier to move around city areas. Further out, humans are allowed to roam without a leash, though they must be properly trained. However, depending on your local authority, you may be asked to leash them anyways as you never know when your human might decide to play somewhere dangerous. If you're a single human, you are highly encouraged to find an authority for help, many ads and stations are available and on display so that humans don't get lost. (for the independent humans, it is sad).and a lot of the human rescue and shops are terrorised and raided by the radical group. Life is hard for humanity.
